Come scrive Michel Onfray nella nota che accompagna questa traduzione, Soler è uno studioso che «preferisce la verità all’illusione che rassicura».

JEAN SOLER diplomatico francese e storico delle religioni, è stato addetto culturale presso l’Ambasciata di Francia in Israele dal 1969 al 1973 e dal 1989 al 1993. È autore della trilogia Aux origines du Dieu unique e di La violence monothéist (Paris, Editions de Fallois).

Bon livre d'un athé sur les raisons historiques et matérialistes de l'émergence des religions monothéiste

There is a lot of controversies on this book. I'm with the idea that the Jewish god YHWH is the one worshiped in the Solomon temple, but we can't generalize that if we found a small stone with the inscription "YHWH and it's Ashira", we say that jewish are not monotheist.
It's like if we found in some Islamic community, God and prophet are approximately put in the same level. Can we say that Islam is not a monotheist religion.
There is Books, and there is humans. every body apply the religion as his understanding and backgrounds.
