This series is most definitely, and always will be, right there at the top of my All Time Favourite list of books. I love, love, LOVE this series. I cannot wait for the last instalment (sads, my heart is breaking a little). CJ Ellisson, PLEASE do not stop writing Supernatural stories - you have too much talent and imagination to put it to rest. Thank you for these gifts x
This is another great addition to the VV Inn series; it has some excellent twists and continues the thrilling story threads from the previous books. With a war on the horizon, Rafe, Vivian and their friends try to prepare, but complications and deception interferes with their plans and rips your heart apart. There is plenty of chemistry in this book, from Jon and Candy to Rafe and Vivian, the depth of feeling and sensuality never ceases to entertain. This story quickly draws you in, it has intrigue, excitement, suspense, romance, sexuality and action. It is a captivating tale that leaves you heartbroken and dying for the next book.
This book was an awesome contemporary vampire/werewolf romance. The master vampire, Vivian, knows everyone is uneasy and afraid because they know something/someone is trying to get to her and those in her seeth. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and by reading the ending know another book will be needed to continue the story. I don't like cliffhangers but being a book by CJ Ellisson I chose to read it. I look forward to reading future books by this author and especially in this series.
You have got to read the Preface. The reader gets to see how human our author is – she puts it out there. And it’s something that some of us can relate to.
Vivian and her husband show that this is a series that’s best read in order. If you start here, you will be confused by certain events. There was one scene where I had to go back a little and re-read because I lost track of whose point of view I was reading. Once I figured it out then the scene made sense. This is not a story to read if your mind is elsewhere. That’s why once my life takes on some semblance of normal I’m going to re-read this book.
This is a series that showcases the author’s creativity. It’s a world that the author has created from scratch. It’s where the reader’s imagination can fly. Anything is possible. You know you’re in for a crazy ride when our author sends a vampire to Alaska. Our author also shows that vampires can care about something other than blood. The bad news is that the ending leaves you hanging. The good news is that this means there may be another book coming.
If you love paranormal series than this may be an author you will want to check out. Maybe you like something out of the ordinary that will grab your attention. Maybe it’s something that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat – what are the characters going to do next. Maybe you don’t mind reading a book that’s told from different points of view – because that just adds to the enjoyment. And then there’s the fact that I want to go up to Alaska and see if there are folklore tales of vampires in the vicinity.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Book six has us starting on a new adventure of hunting down any vampire that Vivian has created and let live before anyone else can get to them. She may have passed down a gene that makes these vamps more dangerous than any other leaving them vulnerable to being hunted. But if they have this gene I'd say they are more formidable than most others.
This story seemed more of an intro than anything else which made it less exciting than the others. We also see a more softer side of her than ever before and I can see why it leaves Jon very sceptical about letting her know if his new lady love. It seems more like a farce than her being true but it wasn't. It was more of a great buildup to heartbreak that mirrors the very first story featuring Jon.
We see how certain circumstances put pressure on others and how they react. It shows that even with clear differences that they are all one big family who rely on each other and help when it matters most.
This book wasn't the best in the series but also not the worst which is why I'm pretty neutral about it, hence the three stars. There will definitely be more to come and I can't wait to see how it goes.
Book 6 is the latest in The V V Inn series. The story takes place in Alaska at the Inn and told from the perspective of 4 of the main characters, Vivian, Rafe, Jon and Eric. The story is a transition from events in the last book and sets the stage for the next book in the series.
If you're like me and love the series, then you won't be disappointed with Sharpen the Blade. You get to know more about Vivian's past in this book, there is sabotage that puts some of the characters in danger, and betrayal that will leave one character in heartache. I won't go into details on what transpires because I don't want to ruin the story with spoilers.
I'm an avid fan of the V V Inn series but knowing that Sharpen the Blade (book 6) was originally intended as an extended epilogue before the final book in the V V Inn series, and after following the author on social media, I know that she has been experiencing life on life's terms lately… I was not expecting to be wowed. However I was pleasantly surprised that Sharpen the Blade not only met the previously excellent standard of work from the author's past works, but I believe, this volume surpassed it.
While I have often been distracted and annoyed with a story told from more than 2 points of view, this author's choice at blending and telling the story from 4 of the characters points of view is very well done.
The story picks up with Jon, Rafe, and Dria's (Vivian's) return to Alaska from Argentina to prepare for the upcoming show down with the some of the oldest members of the Vampire Tribunal. This volume covers Jon's struggle to introduce Candy (his possible mate) to Dria and the possible ramifications of Candy's introduction into Dria's seethe; Rafe's determination to do any and everything to protect Dria, and their loved ones; the reuniting of the Monson brothers; and Dria's struggle to defend her seethe, those she's turned, and those who she feels responsible for.
As a V V Inn fan, I am unhappy to learn the series ends with the next volume (7), but will anxiously await the final book in the series, and future works by this author
The story arcs continue from previous books, but add in the deception, betrayals, lies, twists and turns and again we find ourselves falling into step and wondering just what the hell is going on on at the Inn !
I love catching up with all my favourite characters especially Vivian and Rafe, the chemistry and passion between them never dies ! Then add John and Candy and we are in for a mix !
Now I have to wait for book 7 and it will be a slow torture, but it's ok I can handle it just.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have been following this series since the beginning. It's an amazing series. Action packed. Heart wrenching. And so addictive! I am so glad C.J. puts together such a vivid story, certainly in my favorite authors. This book is great. And of course, leaves with a juice woozy of an ending. Never a dull moment. With out giving away the story line, let's just say it's a must read.
Following on from where Blood Legacy left off Dria, Rafe & Jon return to Alaska to prepare to face their next conflict. An unexplained helicopter crash puts the research on hold in a race against time and the elements. As expected from C.J. there are always unexpected twists to keep the reader turning those pages, and the ending leaves us begging for the next book to conclude the series.
Sharpen the Blade is book 6 in the V.V. in series... and it is a page turner... it is filled with Passion, betrayal and sabotage, and lots of adventure. I love Vivian's (Drea) personality ... always clear and to the point and full of plenty of snarky attitude... she is one to admire on how she cares for her Vampire Seethe and the Werewolves that she has protecting the V.V. Inn when she is not there... Book 6 picks up where book 5 ends with Vivian, Jon ( Vivian's werewolf servant ) and Rafe are returning from there Summer Home because trouble is brewing with the Vampire head leaders. Vivian needs to prepare and protect her people and her winter home... I really loved reading Sharpen the Blade... it's full of Surprises that keep the reader wanting to read to find out what will be happening next. if you have read books 1-5 and loved the the characters... you will not be let down with Sharpen the Blade... this book is for the ages of 18+
Vivian, a master vampire, and her husband are in Alaska at their resort. They are preparing for trouble. She and her friends are in danger. Can she keep everyone safe? I've always found Vivian to be a larger than life character, but she's changed in Sharpen The Blade. She's more empathetic and approachable. I like to see her connect with those around her. Rafe, as always is her rock. Their relationship adds romance to this suspenseful story. I was pulled in by Jon and his relationship with Candy. I liked this werewolf and wanted him to find what he needs to make him content. C.J. Ellisson wrote an exciting addition to The V V Inn series. The ending was unexpected and heartbreaking. Just be aware that this book ends with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read. My comments are my honest opinion.
The amazing VV Inn saga continues with book 6 Sharpen The Blade. I've read all the books in this series and this one was certainly a page turner. Ancient vampires Persephone and Rolando threaten master vampire Vivian, her human husband Rafe, her entire seethe as well as those Vivian has turned over her lifetime as a vampire. Sit on the edge of your seat and read into the wee hours of the morning to see if the sexy red-headed vamp can outwit the her evil enemies!
I loved the fast paced tempo of this story as well as the danger and intrigue of this wonderful paranormal series. The end of this one had my jaw dropping. Can't wait for book 7!!!
This story is so full of unexpected twists and turns, adventure and mystery. Uncovering the past that was buried a long time ago. Love, loss and so much pain. I love a story that allows you to feel what is going on and this one most definitely did that for me. I have been reading this series since the very first book and can't get enough.
One of the things that stand out most for me is how this writer manages to entwine multiple situations around a storyline. Coupling the complexity with mad writing skills, it glues me deeply into the book. Now this book is part of a series so yes, it's best read in order. Honestly, if this one was the first I read, it really would make me want to read the prior ones not just to fill in the unknown history, but because it is a literary work of art. The characters feel real, and my emotions were fully engaged and I find myself hanging on the edge with other fellow readers now waiting for the next. There is happiness and heartbreak abound in this book so be prepared!
i love this series this book is back at the inn.Vivian, Ralph and John brings back a long lost brother of Pat and asa's brother Justin. Jon's girlfriend candy meets them at the airport in dog form. Vivian falls in love with her now they go back to the inn try to get ready for war with Roland and persephone. When something happens . I dont want to give to much. But there is some twist i didnt see coming. I love these books and I love how they all show different points of view it's a must-read book
Dria must now try to remember her turns that may have evolved into manipulators to keep them from being taken over by the Argentine vampires. With her seethe in danger, she, Rafe, and Jon ready to search out her made vampires. Treachery from within, a horrific plane crash, a wizard now on their side, and then, a call for help from Cy. Excellent characters, a twist I didn't see coming, and a lot of anticipation for the next book so we can see more of the information that is held in the multiple journals that Dria kept over the centuries. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
C.J. writes in the present - the atmosphere, the language, the realistic character development - all of these make her stories relatable. It was such an easy read, the story flowed well and the characters kept me amused and invested in their lives. I love the twist this story plot take it is adventure. I love coming back to the VV INN it feels like coming home.
Received this book through an arc copy. I liked the novel, it furthered the story and gave an insight to what was going on with certain characters. I liked that it was also told through four characters pov (Vivian, Rafe, Jon and Eric).
There was character progression from the first novel through this one and it is interesting to see how far they have all come since the first book.
I do like the theme of family throughout the books and how the seethe is coming together to help each other no matter their differences whether it be a difference opinion or supernatural species they are.
I was happy to see the release of this next story in the VV Inn series. I've grown attached to the characters as real people and invested in what happens to them. Dria and her seethe continue to uncover clues in their quest to get the upper hand in the Tribunals efforts to take over. C.J. brought her trademark twists, turns and feels to Sharpen the Blade. Suspense, romance and paranormals make for a compelling tale that I can't wait to continue. Hopefully we won't have to wait long (winks)
Just finished it & it was a great next book in this series. I loved it. It answered some questions & I hate to say it but it made me tear up in a couple places (Jon's pain). Can't wait for the next book.
like always this was marvelous this was definitely worth the whole wait. thought I did not expect the candy thing and she probably sabotaged the plane. can't wait for the other
I was not disappointed , once again C.j. Ellisson brought the characters to life in my mind with little sub-stories within the book. My favorite being Candy shifting into Dog form and Dria and rafe wanting to adopt her as a pet hehe. What a lie, I favorite the whole dang book. I thoroughly enjoy her writing and advise everyone I know to read this series and any other books she writes :) 5 Stars...more stars!!!
Rafe, Vivian and Jon are back at the Inn on a mission, get the Inn and the the Seeth protected and to find the vampires Dria turned.
Jon and Candy get more serious and know it's time to tell Vivian and Rafe. But Jon is a little scared as this could change everything.
Asa and Eric have someone from the past come back into there lives.
Eric, Pat and Drew find themselves in life threatening trouble.
Paul has to start learning to fight and to use his skills.
So much is happening with the group. Once again they have to fight to protect what they love, but do they have a traitor on the inside? The last chapter broke my heart, I couldn't believe it when it all kicked off. But what else do they have to go through? We have a little cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next. And hopefully my poor heart can handle everything the group go through.
Ok so I don't know how much more pain and heartache this group can handle. Actually no, they will cause they have to and they have a war to win.
Ok. Wth. I don’t want to give anything away but this was yet another great read. I’m so into these characters that for the first time since I was a child I actually teared up over a fictional character. I hope the next book in the series is already released because I have to know how my friends are doing. Yes, that’s how good this author is, she makes you care about the characters. This book has plenty of action, is very entertaining & a great read. Don’t take my word for it...READ IT!!!
The VV Inn series keeps getting darker and more dangerous. Fortunately, the characters are complex and extremely well written. Sharing the turmoil and dangers they face while trying to stay one step ahead of murderous ancient vampires is an emotional roller-coaster. I can't wait for the next book!
Before they cam contact the vamps that have been sired by Vivian, they have to read through her diaries. Jon is worried about how to introduce his girlfriend, Candy, to Viv and Rafe. This is a great addition to the vv Inn opus.
The only thing I can say negative about this book or any other books by CJ is that it's always disappointing to reach the end of one! Thank you you CJ for another great adventure with Vivian and Rafe!
Eh. Truthfully I was bored to tears for the first 2/3 of the book. Just when it finally starts to interest me again, it's over. I'll read the final book when it comes out in the fall, if I remember, if not, oh well.
You have written some of the best damn stories you are supervIsed love Vivian and Rage and Jon apolitical much I really need the last one like a crack head leaderless don't make me wait forever.
