From the writer of the international bestselling WINGED series comes a look at the other side... where it's good to be bad....

I was thirty years old when I chose to die--or rather to give up my soul.

Eternal youth, endless money... and sex.

Mind blowing, life changing, otherworldly sex.

For all those things, being Damned is a small price to pay.

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND EXTREMELY GRAPHIC SEX SCENES. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thirty year-old Julie is rather aimless. She’s beautiful and privileged, but not challenged and definitely not happy. When a couple of lust demons make her an offer she can’t refuse, Julie sells her soul in exchange for eternal life, abundant wealth, and endless mind-blowing sex. In exchange, Julie must fill energy quotas for her boss at a weekly tip-in. Julie tumbles headlong into a glamourous lifestyle with an immensely powerful, thousand-year-old demon at her side, barely looking back at the life she left behind.
Julie is an interesting character. She starts the book a bit damaged, a bit empty. Ironically, her transformation into a demon is what makes her more human. In short order Julie knows she’s being manipulated and there are secrets she needs to uncover. Her journey, so far, is one of self-discovery and awakening. At times she’s definitely not likeable, not even close, but when a main character is an anti-hero, and indulges in things a typical hero wouldn’t, the possibilities are wildly endless.
Now, this may speak to my own flawed character, but I adore the character of Asmodeus, Julie’s mentor and lover. He’s domineering to the core, but so damn sexy. The relationship between the two is interesting and anything but pedestrian. I’m staunchly team Asmodeus.
This book is off the charts sexy. So if that’s not your thing, it may not be for you. For the record, it’s sooo my thing and this book was a delicious guilty pleasure and a damn near perfect reading experience. I have one major complaint to lodge. Damned ends with a cliff hanger. I despise cliff hangers. I need closure! Also, there are some emerging character dynamics I don’t care for. But we’ll see where this goes. Eventually.
Every so often, I devour a book. Damned has been the first book this year to wholly capture my attention. I read with feverish devotion, never wanting it to end. I need book two. Like, now. The book is a spin-off to Pruitt’s Winged series, a series I knew nothing about until this week. Pruitt’s whole collection just shot to the top of my TBR.

Addictiveness: This was great! I couldn't let go. I had to finish and I had very little sleep because of it.
Character: hero 4/5, heroine 4/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 4/5, real 4/5  Julie is a great character. Totally different from the usual. She hates her life and sell her soul to become a demon. Her journey into self-discovery makes her become a better person than when she was totally human. But, she is not lovable, in fact, lots of times you hate her. But this is the beauty of the book, because it portraying the flaws, is not pretending to be all about the good.
Cover: art 4.5/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color/font 4/5, buy 4/5  I would buy this book without reading the blurb. The art work is great and the title/subtitle adds to the appeal.
Freshness: Wow! Totally different and unique from anything out there. One-of-a-kind!
Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 3/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 3.5/5, pace 4/5, setting 4/5, subplots 4/5, twists 3/5  Great conflict and good dialogue. Ok beginning and ending. There is a cliffhanger, and I guess I have to point that out. The author is so creative and she weaves a tale that grabs the reader's attention and permeate his mind. Great plot, with a lot of room for the other books.
Romance: believable 2/5, chemistry 4.5/5, description 4/5, development 2/5, steam4.5/5 This is not like a love story. This is about wicked pleasures. It raw and really really hot!
Writing Style: This was great. The author wrote a story that grabbed my attention and played with my emotions. I hated the main character often, but the duality of my feelings was what I have loved the most. This will stay in my mind for a while.

Plot: Ending - I'm sorry I don't mind reading series that have cliffhangers ,but I must take something out from it. You don't end the story with a feeling of completion.

This was my first book from the author, but I understood there this series is sort of counterpart to another series, Winged. I'm really looking forward to read more.

I have truly enjoyed the writing style of Ms. Pruitt. After a year that I have read more than 150 books, this will stand out. Very creative!

Overall

Action 3/5
Angst 3/5
Darkness 0/5
Humor 2/5
Romance 3.5/5
Suspense/Mystery 2/5
Would I recommend? Yes. If you are looking for something different but with depth, this is it!
Would I re-read this book? Yes.
Would I re-read this series? I’m looking forward to it.
Would I read more from the author? Yes. I love her style of writing and I'm looking forward for more from her.

You MAY read this because you followed the author; you SHOULD read this because you like steamy stories; you MUST read this if you enjoy something unique!!!
