Gretchen brought her car to a screeching halt in the middle of the highway, terrified she had just killed someone. The body lying on the road appeared so suddenly, she barely had time to hit the brakes. Luckily, she stopped short of him. Unluckily, someone else hadn’t. Her call for help may have saved his life, but the damage done may be impossible to repair.
Waking with no memory of who he is or how he ended up a broken mess in the hospital, he has no choice but to rely on his rescuer for help. “John Doe” is his only identity until fragmented memories begin cropping back up. They are only fleeting images of a woman, but John hides even that from Gretchen, afraid it will lead him back home and away from the woman he is quickly falling in love with.
DelSheree Spinner was one of those shy, quiet kids who spent more time reading than talking. She didn't speak a single word for the first few months of preschool. Her fascination with reading led to many hours spent in the library and bookstores, and eventually to writing. She wrote her first novel when she was sixteen years old, but spent ten years rewriting it before it was published.
Native to New Mexico, many of DelSheree’s books feature the Four Corners area or where inspired by its history and lore. When not writing novels, she often reading, hiking, sewing, and working with other authors.
DelSheree has several bestselling young adult series and has hit the USA Today Bestseller list twice as part of box sets. She also writes contemporary romance, cozy mystery, and paranormal new adult series. Her writing is as varied as her reading interests.
This book is called Part One, but it does not end on a cliffhanger. That said: I enjoyed this story and liked Gretchen a lot. She was amazing from the beginning. Don't assume this is just a romantic story, as there are some nail-biting moments. Can't wait for the next part!
Though the book is shown to be Part One, the ending was such that you could read it by itself. I was entranced by this story. Gretchen was such an amazing woman, being willing to stop for the guy left for dead at the side of the road, and then to visit him at the hospital and to then invite him to her home. And John was so sweet. Loved the characters and loved the story.
It started really cute and was romantic but towards the end I was on edge and was dreading how it will end. As it is first part I thought it was going to end on a cliffhanger which I'm really happy it did not. It had angst which I most of the time avoid but sometimes I love it. I don't what more is going to happen how the series would end (Lol, I don't know how many parts there are going to be) but I'm eagerly waiting for the next book!
This is the 1st book I read by DelSheree Gladden. This book's story line was really good & sad. I loved Gretchen's character. I loved John's character. My heart broke for Gretchen & John. The ending broke my heart.
