Paco is disappointed when his mother suggests that he replace his worn-out shoes with his grandfather's old boots. He reluctantly goes to the closet and gradually realizes that the closet holds much more than his grandfather's old boots and a box of letters. Hidden among his grandfather's possessions is gift that has potential to bring some startling surprises and unexpected consequences.
While it is a bit lengthy for a lower level book, there was plenty to enjoy about it. The moral of the story was not pushed at you, but you understood it clearly. This also gives a great peak into a part of Bolivian culture. A country that many classrooms rarely take time to delve into. The stories and legends that are a part of a culture tell us so much about what that culture values and gives students a chance to think about their own culture's values as well. There is a lot to love about this book. I may consider using as my class novel next year instead of just putting it in my classroom library.
Alright. This is the worst Spanish book i've ever read. Many unimportant details are included for no reason, and the plot is just... ridiculous and, well, bad. The author is probably treating readers like 3 year olds.
