Dilbury Village #3

The Best Medicine

Rate this book
“The story is amazing and the characters are wonderful and hilarious.” The Next Great Read

A love story for the books!

She knows her way around risqué romances, but author, Charlie Faulkner, only dreams of starring in her own love story. Drowning her sorrows in takeaway pizza, she writes what she's never experienced.

When she does venture out of her writing cave, chaos and medical disasters follow. After a trip to the emergency room, the handsome and capable doctor ignites long-forgotten sparks of passion. Guy Fitton is the guy for her and exactly what the doctor ordered. The only problem is that he may just see her as a crazy, accident-prone woman … not the desirable temptress she craves to be.

Will Charlie get her "happily ever after" with the sexy doctor or is she destined to rely on the pizza delivery man for company?

While The Best Medicine is a standalone story, it's the third in the Dilbury Village series of romantic comedy novels. All of them will be set in the quaint fictitious English hamlet in the Shropshire countryside, but feature a different village couples' story.

Warning, if you are of a sensitive disposition when it comes to toilet humour, then the Dilbury Village series may not be for you!

A laugh-out-loud novel from Charlotte Fallowfield, whose books have hit the Amazon #1 bestseller charts internationally for Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, and Humour.

”Sometimes great love starts with friendship, Charlie. We all dream of that instant, all-consuming need and passion for someone, and to have that returned, but it’s rare to find that and have it last a lifetime. When the passion fades, great friendship is what will see you through the rest of your years.”

I can’t get enough of the ”Dilbury Village” series. My hope is that Ms. Fallowfield will continue to write about this charming and quaint little town and the endearing characters who live there for the unforeseeable future. Each time I pick up one of these books, I feel like I’m getting the chance to spend time with some of my oldest and dearest friends. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep reiterating that it’s the friendships between these amazing women that play an equally pivotal role in the plot as the sweet and slow building romances. ”THE BEST MEDICINE” still has the author’s signature brand of humor throughout but for those of you who have read her previous books, you’ll notice that the potty humor is light in this one. I know that not everyone appreciates that kind of humor so this book will most definitely appeal to an even bigger reading audience. I loved the slow and angsty build to the sweet romance in this one and I guarantee that the Hero and Heroine will steal your hearts! This is a series that must be on everyone’s TBRs!

This is the story of the newest inhabitant of Dilbury Village. Charlie Faulkner is the sweet and beautiful romance author who has recently left her day job to pursue a full-time career as a writer. While she can write some of the steamiest love stories it seems life does not imitate art. She’s been single for the past two years and as the story progresses you begin to figure out that it’s her unrealistic view of romance that has kept her in the ”party of one” zone. Charlie is a character you’ll fall in love with instantly. She’s got the biggest heart and she goes out of her way to be there for the ones she loves. Her little cat, Ms. Tibbles, is a riot!! Just another reason why I love this series so much. The pets play a big role in the stories. Charlie is very much like the previous Heroines in the series in that she has a penchant for winding up in the most embarrassing situations due to her clumsiness which always has her winding up in the ER. The author indicates that all of the Heroine’s injuries are based on her real-life experiences. All I kept thinking was thank God this woman is still alive! Some of the accidents that happen to our sweet Charlie are seriously hair-raising! It is during her very first trip to the ER for a sprained ankle and broken wrist, that Charlie meets the object of her lustful fantasies, Dr. McFitton aka ”McFitty”. She spends almost the entire story crossing paths with him at the ER for the multitude of injuries that she has the misfortune of acquiring.

Charlie is a woman after my own heart. She’s a disaster in the kitchen and has an unhealthy obsession with pepperoni pizza. The local pizza place has her up there as their #1 customer. The first time she has pizza delivered to her house, she meets the sweet and charming pizza delivery man, Kitt. These two become fast friends. They make it a Friday night ritual to have pizza dinner together over at Charlie’s place while engaging in good conversation. I have to admit, at first, I was rooting for the doctor because I thought it was sexier to be romantically involved with him rather than the good looking pizza man. I was being judgmental when Charlie never thought poorly of Kitt’s profession. There’s a reason why he’s in the pizza delivery business and when you find out, it only makes Kitt that much more swoon-worthy.

Throughout the story, Kitt proves time and again that whenever Charlie is in need of someone to take care of her, he is there. I was soon rooting for Charlie to get her head out of her arse and see what she had standing right in front of her and so were all of her friends. Her cluelessness made for 100% of the angst, but even that didn’t stop me from loving her.

Will Charlie figure out what everyone else knew all along before it’s too late?

Here are my overall ratings:
Hero: 5
Heroine: 5
Plot: 5
Angst: 4
Steam: 3
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

THE BEST MEDICINE releases on February 28th! If you haven’t read the series, I highly recommend it. Even though each book can be read as a standalone I really believe it would be a travesty to skip any of the books!

Favorite Quotes:

So, how do you write such realistic and steamy sex scenes? I started one of your books as soon as I heard you’d moved in, and I have to say, that first steamy scene, with the dirty-mouthed Frenchman, nearly necessitated a trip to accident and emergency for the fitting of a pacemaker. I haven’t had such a vivid and exciting dream in a long time.

Don’t underestimate her… She looks like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth, but underneath that sweet granny exterior she likes to portray is a sex-crazed nympho with a mouth that would make a sailor blush.

I’ve never heard of anyone getting beaver rash from jeans… Maybe your knicker elastic cut you… Take a look… don’t ask me. Muff inspections aren’t in the “things girlfriends do for each other” handbook.

We’d had a few more entertaining girls’ nights out, which had led to Andy the taxi driver refusing to accept bookings from us for our return journey. Daphne had given us the feedback, from the Dilbury rumour mill, that we were too raucous and our drunken topics of conversation had interfered with his pacemaker. She’d decided if the conversation was that spicy, she wanted to come on the next night out.

‘You’re buttering me up like a hot potato, what’s going on? Are you after some action tonight? A bit of the horizontal mumbo jumbo, as Charlie says?’ ‘Horizontal mambo,’ I giggled. ‘Though if you’re saying jumbo, is that a Freudian slip?’

My Review:

I am totally besotted with this cleverly amusing author, her irreverent humor had me barking with glee. Charlie was a smart cookie and a successful author of “salacious material,” although she had the worst of luck and was a hazard to her own health with frequent slips and uncanny injuries that required emergency trips to the hospital where she caught sight of whom she believed to be the most swoon-worthy of beautiful men, who also happened to be her trauma doctor. She was a smitten kitten, although oddly, none of her friends seemed to share her opinion and even warned her that he seemed sketchy. The premise was entertaining, the characters were beloved and endearing, and the writing was witty and crisp. The hardest part of writing this review was narrowing down my favorite quotes, as I seemed to have acquired a ream of them. I am already looking forward to the next trip to this quaint and quirky little village.

Okay, so The Best Medicine isn't my favorite book in the series (Never The Bride is) but I did find this one fairly enjoyable. I think I was more disappointed that it didn't have as many laugh out loud moments as Never the Bride, which had me laughing out loud the whole way through. That in itself is what I come to associate Charlotte Fallowfield with. Now, that doesn't mean this isn't funny because there were some hilarious parts, but they were few and far in between.

That being said, The Best Medicine is a book about TIMING. It's a book about medical calamities, find love in unexpected ways, and learning to trust your instincts. If you have read the other books in the series (which are all interconnected standalones) you will notice this is Charlie's book. Charlie is an author of romance novels (of the dirty kind) and has a deep love for Pizza. Good thing she befriended the local pizzaman! She is also a walking mishap and finds herself in the hospital more times than she can count. Good thing the ER doctor isn't hard to look at! Now she just needs to get him interested in her. Can she do that with the huge rash on her lady bits from a metal allergy? LOL this may be one of her "finest" moments within the novel... So funny!

In between constantly hurting herself and making long lasting friendships Charlie is on the lookout for love. Could it be the local ER doctor that has treated her in some pretty uncomfortable positions? Or will she find it in the least expected ways with someone who has been right in front of her the whole time? You'll have to go on this wild journey with Charlie and the gang to find out!

Overall, I am seriously loving this series. I hope Charlotte will be bringing us the next book soon as waiting almost 2 years for it is killing me! I adore escaping to Dilbury Village with the colorful characters and their hearts of gold!

This author easily became one of my favorite for the rom-com genre and I eagerly await every book of this series.

Charlie, our heroine, is an erotica author new to the Dilbury village. She is a workhaolic, accident prone and a love beyond measure for pizza.
I liked how the girls we met in the previous books accepted Charlie as one of them instantly, their dynamics made me smile more than once.

I recommend to go in this blindly to savour this story to the fullest.

As always Charlotte Fallowfield has made me howl with laughter and had me reaching for tissues to wipe away the tears streaming out of my eyes from the amount of laughter!

I’m always super excited when I see an ARC from Charlotte land on my kindle because I know without a doubt that something outrageously funny is going to go down in said book and The Best Medicine was no different. I literally had to stop reading to get myself together. The medical mishaps that Charlie experienced is down right crazy, If you think of the worst possible scenarios to happen in certain situations, it’s going to happen to Charlie. That girl has no luck but by god you can’t help but laugh.

I absolutely loved Charlie and Kitt’s story. Charlie is a writer, working hard to get her hot and steamy work out there for the world to see. When she ends up in a small town she had no idea she’d meet the best friends she could possibly ask for or a friendly pizza guy that would keep her company by talking. Kitt’s life isn’t exactly how he planned it to be, quitting everything to look after his sick mother was the only thing he could think about so he did. He got a job and moved away to be closer to his mum but little did he know the job he’d get in that small town would have him meet his best friend, a friend that could lighten his day just being in her presence. Can I also add that I absolutely love the presence of the other characters. Abbie and Georgie always a fave and it’s always fun to hear about the #TurdGate incident lol.

Reading this book has been amazing, at times I wanted to throat punch Charlie for being an absolute idiot and not noticing what’s around her or even in front of her. She made me so angry but I still love her

I laughed, I cried, I swore and so much more. I love that about a book, being able to feel more than one emotion because of a book is a huge plus for me.

• If you ever need a book that will make you laugh Charlotte’s books are the answer.

• If you need a book to draw you out of a book funk. Then Charlotte’s books are your answer.

• If you need a book filled with romance and humour then Charlotte’s books are definitely your answer.

You won’t be disappointed when diving in to one of Charlotte’s little beauties, I promise you that.

Book three in the Dilbury Village series is very close to my heart - focussing on Charlie Faulkner's story, this one is full of medical mishaps, all of which have happened to me personally. I kid you not. It's easy with the benefit of hindsight to see the humour in these situations, while some, at the time, weren't funny at all. I hope that you'll enjoy this latest instalment as much as I did writing it. This little English village, and its inhabitants, has already wormed its way into my heart. I hate to think that this marks the halfway point in the series, but at least that means we still have another three books to go, and I hope that you'll stay with them to the end and see what other adventures Abbie, Georgie, Daphne, and Charlie get up to. Is it odd to think of four imaginary characters as your close friends, as that's how I feel about these four women and I hope that you do too.

This is more of a situation of;

It is fun, light, chick lit.
Not my favorite in the series.

And considering I loved Abbie story, book one, this is huge let down. Maybe is mood I'm in and I dragged my feet to read this. I usually have that feeling if I can't get into a story and stall the reading I 'm not loving it, well then I'm not loving it. I didn't care much about main characters. Charlie is nice and fun and accident prune writer. Sure her injuries and all the hospital visit were entertaining plot line. But the fact that she is lusting after one guy entire book while her best friend who is in love with her waits till the end of her book for her to wake the hell up and see what's in front of her. Everything resolves at the end. Kitt is not a type of hero to lead he feels more like side character. He is a good guy, the friend, the loyal one. And majority of the book was Charlie going to E.R. and being stupid over some doctor, while Kitt delivers her Friday pizza and is there for her, to listen about her complain about this doctor not noticing her.

I love Dillbury, I love this series, and all the characters in it. And I will definitely read more.

But I wish I loved this book more.

Charlotte has the best cover EVER, I truly love them.

I really feel like shit not liking this more. This is somewhere between three and four stars; I can't make up my mind.

5 'British Chocolate Starfish' Stars

Oooo it was soooo perfect *swooooon*

"Welcome to Dilbury, where life is never dull." Hell, ain't that the god's honest truth LOLOLOL! I am soooo excited to be back in my favourite quaint British countryside village! I love Dilbury!! Love it! Love it! Love it! I can always count on a good time when anything Dilbury related is mentioned. Over the past installments of this series I've completely fallen in love with this motley crew of friends and their beloved little village. I feel like I'm one of them and am just waiting on my book to be typed up for the world to read. Charlotte, girl, I'm looking at you.

The Best Medicine was exactly that, the best! Aaaand my favourite thus far in the series. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting so "patiently" for Charlie Faulkner's story to fall in my lap. We've already met the 'always the bridesmaid', the pet groomer, and now its time for our little smutty romance novelist to shine! Man does she shine! I'm shocked she didn't end up with a shiner or two with her clumsy luck... sheesh!

This one starts out on a similar time line as a previous installment which I'm completely cool with because I got to 're-live' some of my favourite laugh-out-loud-til-you-cry blunders and mishaps.
Everything comes full circle *wink* and this could have potentially turned into a super raunchy menage in the A&E... the set up was definitely there. Damn it. So much potential. My inner smut loving addict is crying and rocking in the corner over the missed opportunity. BUT THIS IS BRITISH ROM COM!! Gd-it.

The ups and literal downs, cause Charlie girl can't stay on her feet long enough to get anything done, will keep you laughing and swooning and swearing and just plain old cheering a girl on! Go Charlie! Go Charlie GO! GO! Charlie!! This woman, I swear to God... she's a riot and that ain't the half of it. Girlfriend needs an eye exam and some glasses to see what's directly in front of her!!!! And I'm not being pun-ny.

The looks, the feels, the want...

I was provided with an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie - how I was shouting at you for not seeing what was right in front of your face rather than be blinded by the white coat! When she had her lightbulb moment I gave a huge sigh of relief...now she just had to get her HEA - and I am happy to say she did!

The humour in these books always make me smile and Charlie is so accident prone, it will certainly make you chuckle.

All the characters from the previous books were back and as great as always. This book starts timeline wise back at book 1, but doesn't dawdle in moving forwards, but this does mean that a reader can read this as a standalone if they wish. I would recommend reading the ones previous to this to get to really know the characters.

As with every book in the series, prepare to cry tears of laughter with this incredible story following one of its well known characters of the series so far...Charlie Faulkner.

Charlie, an accident-prone, crazy-cat-owner and pizza loving Author (I love her already!). But hang in there...

Charlie is one of the most easy-going, kind-hearted women, who is a good friend to all the characters we have met and love already, and slots so well into Dilbury. Her antics included!

Her infatuation with an A&E doctor, one who gets to know her very intimately *cue hysterical laughter* is very much a part of this story, as her regular visits, will hopefully one day get her a date with the infamous McFitty....

But underneath her steamy Author career and funny persona, there is the loveliest person who I just gravitated towards so much. Her personality, big heart and sometimes blind-sightedness endeared me and I didn’t want her story to end as she suddenly realises what’s right in front of her (as many of the residents of Dilbury had already long since known!)...

Excerpt:
“...it’s beautiful to see his how far people will go for the ones they love. It’s inspiring actually. You, Kitt Fraser, Pizzaman extraordinaire, are an inspiration. I’m a lucky girl to have a friend like you in my life.”
.....
“I’m the lucky one. How many customers would look past the guy who does a menial job...and see the man behind him?”

Just brilliant as ever! I can’t wait for more hilarious additions to this series from one of my favourite authors of the last four years!

As Georgie puts it so well, and I have to agree.... final excerpt:
Seriously, Charlie. Don’t change, we love you as you are. Outspoken, accident-prone, funny, and loveable Charlie Faulkner.

5 star review of The Best Medicine (Dilbury Village #3) by Charlotte Fallowfield

This is the third book in Charlotte Fallowfield's latest series and in my opinion she has another winner on her hands. This is romance novelist Charlie Faulkner story and oh what a story it was. If I could give these books more than 5 stars then I certainly would.

I laughed so much I cried in this book; it was fabulous and I couldn't put it down. The writing is well executed, hilarious, sweet, dramatic and honestly one of the best books I have read in a long time. Each book in this series, in my humble opinion keeps getting better and better.

Although a stand alone, I do think you would appreciate it more if you read the first two books, just to get a bit of background, however it is not necessary, just a suggestion.

What’s a girl to do when she writes naughty romance books for a living/ Charlie is looking for love but up till now it has been elusive. The only men she seems to spend time with is the pizza delivery man(Kitt) and the doctor (Guy) who fixes her up regularly as Charlie is accident prone (to put it nicely). Can one of these be the man of her dreams?

I was on the edge of my seat wondering who Charlie would end up with and since that is the “big” surprise, I won’t say more than this; I loved it.

As with the previous books the secondary characters in this book made for some cringe worthy moments at times, yet they were so likeable and I think most of us could put our own friends or relatives into the characters at times, I know I certainly could. The Best Medicine had so many laugh out loud moments that I was in danger of being thought crazy as I read this on my commute to and from work; in fact I almost got kicked out of a quiet carriage.

I haven’t read a book from Charlotte Fallowfield that I didn’t love and this is certainly one of my favourites.

I would love to take a trip and visit Dilbury Village in the Shropshire countryside and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Congratulations Ms. Fallowfield you have a winner on your hands.

The funny neighbors of Dilbury are at it again .. This installment is the accident prone Charlie that can’t seem to stay out of the A & E .. but when she keeps seeing the same gorgeous doctor every visit she thinks he is the ONE !!

But we all know the neighbors of the town will be giving there in put on this situation and when it is something Charlie doesn’t want to hear well we all know she will do her best to distract them .. maybe with another accident to see Dr McFitty ??

When a new Pizza delivery man comes to Charlie’s house .. every Friday night .. she knows she has made a best friend in Kitt. Kitt moves back to town to take care of his allying Mum, he has no time for anything but caring for her .. or does he.

Can all the ladies of the town convince Charlie that they all feel something is shady with Dr. McFitty .. he is a Chad .. even the men see Kitt as a better fit as they because close friends with him too.

We shall see if Charlie can see the light for herself or will it be to late ....

Loved the funny hilarious antics that go on in this quiet little town .. except for when the FeTfe comes to town !! Then things get WILD !!

Charlotte Fallowfield delivers again. Another installment in the Dilbury series that will have you laughing out loud and crying with laughter. Charlie is the newbie in the village but soon makes friends with Abbie and Georgie. Shes an up and coming erotic author that writes about Mr right but is yet to find him in real life. Charlies life is a series of hilarious accidents which see her frequenting the local A+E department. There she sets her sights on the dishy doctor Mr Mcfitty. Whilst trying to capture Mcfitty's attention, Charlie strikes up a friendship with the local pizza man. Kitt becomes her best friend and both are there for each other in their ups and downs. But can Charlie see whats right in front of her before its too late. Will she choose the hot doctor or the best friend who's always there for her ? Again an hilarious addition to the series that can be a read as a standalone. These books are so relatable as every woman has either got a bit of Charlie, Abbie or Georgie in them. To friendship and love and laughter because thats what these books have to offer. Fabulous is all I can say.

Charlotte brings this romantic comedy to life in front of our eyes. Never a dull moment in this story for sure. The highly accident prone Charlie moves into Dilbury and with her frequent visits to the local hospital makes you laugh out loud with her antics. Kitt, the quiet unassuming lead male is supportive and so so kind everyone should have this type of friend in their life. The story brings in other characters from the series and especially Daphne, the funniest OAP I've ever heard of. It's funny every time she speaks in the book. Charlie and Kitt build a friendship that will last. Easy flowing storyline and some real funny moments. The right genre definitely for this book. Well done Charlotte!

Charlotte Fallowfield never disappoints me! I loved this book to pieces.

Lust and infatuation sometimes make us blind and stupid. Love is just in front of us and we don’t see it, we don’t even recognize it.
This is what happens to Charlie Faulkner. She’s a brilliant writer, smart, obsessed with pizza and clumsy. And her clumsiness brings her several times to the A&E dept. where Dr. Guy Fitton, aka McFitty, soon becomes Charlie’s wet dream. He’s the perfect male she writes about in her books.
But her obsession for pizza leads to a very special friendship with Kitt, aka Mr. Piazza Man. Kitt is a very kind a private guy, that lives almost alone as he’s taking care of her mother. But for Charlie he is always around helping her every time she gets back from the hospital after some clumsy injury.
But what Charlie wants is a date with McFitty and when he finally asks her out, the date is a total disaster because in that very moment she realizes that the only man she wants is Kitt, figuring out what everyone else knew all along. Will be too late for Charlie? Will be too late to finally have at her side the man she loves and not the man she only lusts after?
The answer is: Love is always the best medicine!

I really enjoyed this book. Funny, sweet, but with serious and meaningful moments.
I loved Charlie’s character for being so imperfect but I was rooting for Kitt, and every time she chooses McFitty over Pizza Man I hated her a little bit. I didn’t like the doctor since the beginning, feeling like he was hiding something. Kitt instead is so sweet and a real gentleman.
And when Abbie, Georgie, Quinn and Daphne, Charlie’s best friends, are around, laughs are granted!!
And if you think that the English countryside is boring you've never been in Dilbury Village.
I can't wait to read the next installment!

This is book 3 of the dilbury village series... I suggest reading the others first.

The best medicine focuses on Charlie, the erotica author from previous books. Again Charlotte has produced another amazing book with the amazing, heart warming characters from her other books. Without going into to much detail, Charlie has a pretty hard decision to make and she takes her sweet time doing it. Along the way she has some ups but oh so many down's! Charlotte hit the nail on the head with the comedy factor of this book, I laughed so hard through out, although I did feel sorry for poor Charlie while giggling! Also once again...yes I shed a few tears!

Amazing job! Now give me some more Dilbury please!

Whilst this book is okay to read as a stand alone, i highly recommend you read the first 2 books of the series before starting this one because you miss out on quite a lot of jokes.
Really lovely novel to read. It's light, sweet and really funny. Can't wait for the next novel!

The next book in this rom com series, The Best Medicine is Charlie, the romance author's story. Having recently moved to the village she is soon making friends and starts getting involved in all their antics. Yet as a single woman in her early thirties what she really wants is to find happiness not just write best selling stories about it. Charlie is very accident prone so the reader is taken on a mishap filled journey of self discovery by a woman on mission to find love...yet with two available men at her disposal will she be able to see who is her Prince Charming before kissing the frog?

What an amazingly sweet and heart warming story this is. It has a different tone and pace to the other novels in the series, and I felt like I had just p caked up where I had left off from the previous book. This series is warm, fuzzy and comfortable the perfect choice for when you need a story to whisk you away from the reality of housework! The medical mishaps based on the author's life experiences had me wincing and then chuckling at the treatment as I've had a few similar incidents happen so I felt Charlie's pain. The Best Medicine is a fantastic stand alone read although it is part of a series, I found it is less angsty than book two and not as humorous as book one, it was more down to earth and easy to relate to maybe as I could really identify with the character, embracing my inner Charlie! It is so easy to be fooled by all that glitters even when you know it's not everything it promises to be... so I loved the will they won't they story line. It was great to catch up with the other characters along the way, seeing their story from another point of view adding more depth to their characters and plot lines and I love Daphne! She made me laugh and I hope I am as irreverent as she is at that age, honestly she had me chuckling so hard with her antics. Mrs Tibbles is another fantastic character, being a cat lover I totally chuckled at the pizza stealing and claw action! This may be my new favourite of the series but I say that every time I read a new release by this author. I honestly find myself crying tears of laughter every time I read one of these as the toilet humour and situational drama are just so funny yet realistic that I can envision it all playing out in my head. This series is a fun filled read that is full of surprises that leaves me with a huge grin on my face - what more do you need to know!

A fantastically fun five star read.

There's so much fun and laughter in this book. I love Dilbury Village and the close knit family of friends that live there. Charlie's mishaps make you cringe and laugh out loud at the same time; and Kitt stole my heart the minute he showed up in his pizza slice uniform. This book will give you a permanent smile the entire time you are reading. I simply love this series and I love Pizzaman.

The Best Medicine is the third release in The Dilbury series and it truly is another great read by Charlotte Fallowfield to add to your collection. Each title in The Dilbury series can be read as a standalone, but for the reader to fully connect and understand the true beauty of this series, community and characters; I’d recommend you read them in the order of release.

The Best Medicine is Charlie Faulkner's story. She’s an author who leaves the hustle and bustle of city living behind, and relocates to Dilbury for a more peaceful life so she can focus on her writing career. It’s not long before Charlie is taken under the wing of the lovable residents and soon becomes part of the Dilbury family.

Charlie is a caring soul, loves writing, her cat, and has an addiction for pizza, which leads to a great friendship blossoming with the local pizza delivery guy Kitt. Charlie’s biggest trait is her tendency for being very accident prone, and her mishaps often result in her ending up in the local A&E Department. It’s during a visit to the local A&E when Charlie sets her sights on the dishy DR McFitty. Charlie is truly smitten with the good looking doctor and is unable to wave him from her thoughts. He’s everything that Charlie envisions when writing her dream man, and can’t believe he’s there in the flesh at her local hospital. The more Charlie sees him, the more her desire and attraction grows for him, but for some reason Charlie can’t seem to grab his full attention when they engage, no matter how hard she tries. With her sights set firmly on the best looking guy she as ever met, Charlie is determined to get Mcfitty to succumb to her charms but will she be successful in her mission to win the good Dr? Or will it be a case of hot perfect guys do only exist in romance novels?

With each new character the author adds to this series it always brings something unique, refreshing, uplifting, making this a wonderful series to read. For me the series overall offers, great writing, lovable characters, humour, love, wonderful friendships, and good plots that keep you turning the pages and leaves you yearning for so much more.

They do say laughter is ‘The Best Medicine’ so choose one of Charlotte Fallowfield’s books...they are guaranteed to deliver on every level.

When you have a book that the main character, Charlie Faulkner, is an author of romance novels that lean toward erotic, how can it not be a great book.

Charlie has moved to the small town of Dilbury. During this book we get to meet and get to know her new neighbors. They add an extra layer of warmth and laughter to this story.

Poor Charlie is the most accident prone person I know. If it's going to happen it's going to happen to her. Due to her injuries she has ended up in the Accident/Emergency Room. On her very first visit she is treated by the very sexy Dr. Guy Fitton (McFitty) and is instantly consumed by throughts of this man and what her future is going to be with him.

Through many pizza deliveries Charlie gets aquainted with Kitt, the deliveryman. He has moved back home to take care of his mom, who has alzheimer's. What I love most about Charlie's character is that she sees beyond Kitt being a pizza deliveryman. She sees him as a person. They get to become best friend's. I could just tell as I read a long that these two were meant to be together. Charlie is so blind to her McFitty obsession that she can't see what is right in front of her. By the time she realizes it, it might just be too late.

I absolutely LOVE what Charlie does to McFitty when she finally realizes just what a cad he is. I was cheering!

My goal in life is to be just like Daphne when I am in my 80's. She just added so much humor to this book. Love her character!

The Author Charlotte Fallowfield writes in British English (she does note this at the very beginning of the book) which I struggled a little bit with the terms and slang but felt right at home when Quinn comes into the story and we struggled together. I think it added some hilarity and didn't take anything away from the story for me.

The Best Medicine is book 3 in the Dilbury Village Series. Personally I think it can be a stand alone. Previous to reading this book I have not read the other books in the series and I had no problem following along. I do however feel I would of gotten a better understanding of the other characters in the book, knew their background a little better if I had read them in order. In the epilogue I did get a little lost about who some of the characters were but I don't think they were in past books I think they are going to be in future books. Did that irritate me....no, just making me do a count down until the next book is out.

I’ve just finished The Best Medicine in tears - happy tears, I should add - I loved this story SO goddamn much!

The Best Medicine is yet again a 5 star read. I wish I could rate it higher, damn rating system!

Charlotte is a character I have been dying to learn more about. As one of the Dilbury residents, I needed to hear her story, I knew it would be a good one. And I wasn’t disappointed.
As usual, this story was littered with so many hilarious moments. There were times I nearly peed myself laughing. I mean, proper belly-laughing that made my son think I was weird.
The amount of mishaps that happen to poor Charlie, you can’t help but feel sorry for her, but you also can’t help busting a gut laughing at her.
I love a good rom-com and this whole series so far has been a fast-paced, laugh a minute, absolute delight to read.
Is this the best installment in the series yet? Quite possibly! I laughed with her, I cried with her, but most of all, I fell in love with her. Charlie was dying for a love as real as the love stories she wrote about. She wanted Mr Perfect to come along and sweep her off her feet. But does he? Wait and see for yourself.

This was yet another brilliantly written, hilarious, amazing book by Charlotte Fallowfield. Having read so many books by her, I’d come to expect a certain flair and she didn’t disappoint. This book was jam packed with pure brilliance. The series has always been a better version of Bridget Jones to me. I love me some Bridget, but Abbie, Georgie, Charlie...Bridget has nothing on them.
I saw this play out like a movie in my head and could really visualise all the scrapes that accident-prone Charlie got into.

If you haven’t experienced the ups and downs of village life in Dilbury, you don’t know what you’re missing. Seriously, download the whole series so far and strap yourself in for the ride of your life!
I can’t wait for the next book. August seems so far away. I am eagerly anticipating Quinn’s story! (It’s guaranteed to be equally brilliant, if not more so!)

OMG I can't tell you enough how much I loved this book!

I'm no stranger to the books of Charlotte Fallowfield and this series has been an absolute blast to read. I have been eagerly awaiting to read about erotic author Charlie Faulkner and her obsession with Dr Mcfitty at the local A&E dept. Charlie often finds herself needing to visit there due to her total lack of being able to do the simplest of tasks without always causing some kind of injury to herself. She is not only clumsy, she is a terrible cook and as she is always losing track of time getting lost in her writing she lives mainly on takeout. Kitt whom she nicknames "Pizzaman" as he is her local pizza delivery guy, gets chatting to Charlie more and more each time he delivers her favorite pepperoni craving and they form an unusual bond of friendship. They come to look out for each other especially when Charlie gets hurt, and when they both need someone to tell their troubles to they find that they can easily turn to one another and talk.

I fell in love with this story from the very first page. It has a lot less toilet humor than the previous books in the series but it's still just as funny and a lot more deeper in it's show of love and caring that the characters of the village of Dilbury have for each other. Georgie, Abbie, Quinn and delinquent old aged pensioner Daphne add to the hilarity as Charlie lives through her escapades and of her attempts at trying to get the object of her lust Dr Mcfitty to notice her. This is my absolute favorite book of the series as it's such a brilliant story with lots of fun, love and laughter.

Charlotte Fallowfield is a firm favorite author of mine as her writing is always so enticing to read and her sense of humor is so very close to my own that I get the funny side of all the mishaps that she puts her characters through. Her stories are always a pleasure to read and never disappoint on the quality of story.
5 Stars all the way!!!

You know you are on to a winner when you read the whole book with a big grin on your face.
This is 5 stars of pure literature joy.
I couldn't stop laughing out loud at this fantastic and hilarious romantic comedy that had me gripped throughout.
Charlotte Fallowfield has really made me fall in love with Dilbury and all its residents.
The Best Medicine is Charlie Faulkner's story and what a fantastic story it is.
Charlie is the lovable author that gets her readers hearts racing but all she has to keep her warm at night is Mrs Tibbles her 4 year old cat.
That is until she meets Dr Guy Fitton (aka McFitty) the gorgeous A&E resident DR.
She falls head over heals in lust with him and with how accident prone Charlie is she gets to see a lot of him, even though a lot of it is whilst asleep.
Seriously it's hilarious some of the things that happen to her in this book, she's beyond accident prone and needs wrapping up in cotton wool.
She also strikes up an adorable friendship with Kitt (aka Pizzaman) who's her local pizza delivery driver.
I must admit i fell head over heels in love with the delightful Kitt Fraser.
This is a laugh out loud binge worthy book that will give you all the feels and leave you feeling very satisfied.
I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend you one click it as soon as you can.
I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

After reading all of Charlotte's books so far and absolutely loving them, I was really looking forward to seeing what this one had in store. The Best Medicine is focussed on the not so love life of Charlie, the erotic author of the quiet village of Dilbury.

Super accident prone, Charlie is always visiting A&E where she bumps into Dr Fitton, aka McFitty - and decides she needs him in her life. A case of love or lust? Her Friday evenings also involve her addiction, a pizza delivery; cue the arrival of Kitt, aka Pizzaman! The pair become best friends, but one of them wants more...

This book takes place along the same timeline as some of the other events from the series so far, so we get to meet Abbie, Georgie, newcomer Quinn, and my absolute favourite Daphne, all over again. I think reliving these events albeit from Charlie's POV, helped the story flow really well.

As I have come to expect from this author, I had laughs galore throughout the whole book. I always seem to eat soup when I'm reading her stories, and once again it made me splutter! Not forgetting the usual tears of laughter!

The only thing that irked me about this book is one of Charlie's character flaws of not being able to see what was right in front of her! It made me chortle to myself a few times, and I just wanted to take Pizzaman for myself as he was so sweet.

Overall, another super funny rom com from Charlotte Fallowfield. I also recommend reading the books in order to get a sense of the timeline!

4.5*

Welcome to Dilbury. Where life is never dull. So true for this little town I want to move to.

This third installment in the series of the Dilbury Village is just as delightful as previous books. I recommend reading the previous books to get all the goodness the village has to offer, but also because you have to meet Abbie, Georgie, and Daphne from the beginning. Also for when Charlie, who this book is about, moved to the village.

I was waiting for her story and excited about how she would fit in with the villagers. Also with her being a writer of romance novels, it was interesting to see how her love life would turn out.

This book is so, so funny. If stuff happens, it happens to Charlie. She is definitely accident prone. But she is also a caring neighbor, a laid back real friend, a lover of pizza and having a good time. She also had a knack for looking for love in the wrong place.

The story takes us into all ins and outs of Charlie. It was interesting getting to know her and also to visit again with the neighborhood. I also very much enjoyed meeting Kitt, the pizza man and eventually one of Charlies best friend.

If you’re looking for a fun, funny romantic read. This is it.

The Best Medicine by Charlotte Fallowfield is the 3rd book in her incredible Dilbury Village series. Although each book can be read as a stand-alone I would highly recommend reading them in order. Not only do you get to experience the amazing writing of Charlotte but the background you get on each of these characters - their stories, their personalities - benefits from seeing that developed over all the books. It adds to the whole experience of the series and makes it even better than it already is.
This time the book focuses on the
character Charlie which I was extremely excited about as she is always a character I have enjoyed reading about in the other books. I had been hoping we would get to see more of her soon as she was always well written and just as hilarious as the other girls.
Well I can definitely say I was not disappointed. As always chaos and hilarity reigned supreme. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion and I could not wait to read what was due to come next. With the return of previous loved characters this book continued the series in a spectacular way and is a great addition to one of my favourite series in a long time.
Do yourself a favour and buy not only this book but all 3 of them. You will not be disappointed!!!

After reading book 1 and 2 of the Dilbury Village Series I couldn't wait to read Charlie's story. After being introduced to her in the other books I was hoping that her story would be just as entertaining as Abbie and Georgie's were. Well was there any doubt, of course not! Charlie is such a lively and brilliant character that I think it would be difficult for anyone to dislike her. I was hoping for a happy ever after for her straight away.

Charlie definitely gets herself into some scrapes along the way meaning she ends up in hospital a fair few times and straight into the path of Dr Fitton. Is he the one though? I loved catching up with Abbie and Georgie but don't feel like you are missing out if you start with this book as I do think it works as a standalone. However I highly recommend starting at the beginning just because you will be missing out on such a brilliant series!

In The Best Medicine there is friendship, love, accidents galore and of course pizza which all come together to make a fun and fabulous story. Full of laughs, embarassing moments (well for Charlie) and a truly heartwarming vibe that will leave you smiling!

Five stars from me!

With thanks to Charlotte Fallowfield for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
