The world has recovered from the Ciwix, the great apocalypse brought about Jendar arrogance and greed. Salucia has unified and entered a new age of prosperity, fast-tracking themselves to the cusp of a new age of steam and steel. Yet, Wayran, can’t let go of the mystery surrounding how the greatest civilisation the world has ever known suddenly collapsed within a generation. He has struggled and finally found his chance to uncover the truth, as an apprentice Storm Chaser aboard his uncle’s airship. He is set to fly out into the Wastes to explore the ruins of the Jendar empire beneath the shifting desert sands. However, what he uncovers is a truth more terrible than any could have imagined, and too late he realises he has already seen this truth, as visions in his darkest nightmares.

Really enjoyed the audiobook. The characters are really unique and will definitely set up some interesting reading in the future. I loved the mystery element of what happened to this world and why. Look forward to the next ones.

At first i was worried it was going to be too cliche.
I was wrong, their were some twists and turns I didn't expect and it kept me going for a while.

The first MC we are introduced was somewhat interesting though wingy and then we move on to our secondary character whose angst the author was obviously in love with and he wants to dwell on.

Grim dark it is.
Whiny it is.
Interesting... Not so much.
