In the community of Avalon on Catalina Island, a psychopath is kidnapping children and perfectly posing and painting the bodies of adult victims to resemble disabled artist, Robin Ingram. Robin struggles with feelings of imperfection, and knowing some madman has a macabre agenda—which includes fixing her—is unsettling. She's relieved when paramedic Sam Albrecht steps up to help. Sam believes he knows the identity of the killer, and he wants nothing more than to prove it in order to keep Robin out of danger. Then Sam is arrested as a suspect for the crimes, and Robin's life is thrown into a fresh whirlwind. She may not know who the real killer is, but she does know Sam is innocent'and she will find the proof to set him free, or she'll die trying.
Robin Ingram is a disabled artist living in the community of Avalon on Catalina Island where everyone is on high alert after a baby sitter had gone missing with her young charge. It had been assumed the sitter had kidnapped the child until her body is found murdered but also painted and posed with a huge resemblance to Robin.
With a madman on the loose that seems to be focused on fixing Robin of her disability through the posing of the murders he's committing Robin turns to her friend Sam Albrecht to help find the killer. But before Robin knows it the police take Sam into custody and while Robin doesn't know who the real killer is she does know it's not her friend Sam.
Fixing Perfect by Therese M. Travis was a nice enough murder mystery story about a serial killer who is kidnapping adults and children while fixated on the female main character in the story. The story switches the point of view between Robin, the killer and the hostages at various points during the read keeping their versions to what they know is going on and hiding the identity of the killer.
My lower rating with this one at three stars is simply because to me the killer seemed fairly obvious as I was reading along. It just didn't seem to have the plot twists and turns and hiding the identity to make this a completely intense page turner that I couldn't put down. Still a nice little read with some lovely secondary characters and setting but I would have preferred a bit more mystery and suspense.

I was given a copy of Fixing Perfect through the publisher and their partnership with Netgalley in exchange for my honest review which is as follows:
A young woman, murdered her body posed like a dancer in mid-plié. The young woman was Lehanie Haro. Lehanie had been babysitting a little girl, a little blonde girl who had gone missing.
Sam Albrecht must wait for the detectives before he can do his job.
Robin Ingraham uses crutches due to disability but that does not mean she is willing to settle for just any guy.
A man named Donovan continually goes to the co op when Robin is working, but Robin has no interest in this man who keeps telling her he wants to take her photograph but she has no interest in that, her interest is Sam.
Soon a little girl who had gone missing days before is found murdered, her hair dyed, and a pair of crutches made out of twigs and twine to mimic Robin's is found.
Soon Sam finds himself as the suspect and is being charged with murder but Robin knows it's not Sam, could never be Sam, he would never kill anyone.
The disabled young boy Robin considers her best friend goes missing too.
Will Sam be able to prove his innocence and save Kerry and Robin before they become the killers next victims?

"One man makes it his mission to fix the broken, even if it kills them."
Some see the handicap as broken, instead of awesome. With each little difference in the character who live with what we would call a disability, the author shows the reader the meaning of perfect love.
This is not just a suspense or a mystery, despite the red herrings thrown into the story; neither is it just a romance. This book layers friendship and love on top of determination and trust in God.
Therese M. Travis brings to life the lives of two friends, a small child, and deranged killer, each with their own voice.
No convenient "hero saves them all" or the author pushing the boundaries of belief. This is a story of everyday people who are thrust into a terrifying ordeal.
From the beginning of page one to the last word written, I was thoroughly engrossed in this novel.

"Fixing Perfect" by Therese M. Travis is a murder mystery about psychopath killer who is obsessed with disabled artist Robin Ingram. This was a tough book to read if you are not interested to read about kidnappings of kids and murder of an adult close to them. This was a very good murder mystery novel with just the right amount of detail so that it was not too graphic. Now I will admit the one point in the book that kinda of annoyed me was how easy it was for me to figure out the bad guy. I can't write about how I know who it was as if I do it will be way to obvious if you decide to read the book. I really enjoyed how the author dealt with false accusations. This was really good book with some really great characters. I would love to see more of the main characters in this book. If you can't tell I highly recommend it.
I was given this book from NetGalley for free and was not required to give a positive review.
Much to love here! It was easy to stay enthralled with this novel as terrifying clues mixed on a gripping, grisly investigative trail. Yet the author managed to weave hope and thrilling love amidst the horrendous deeds of the antagonist.
The two main characters, Sam and Robin, have personalities beyond interesting. It’s easy to accept the complexity of their relationship and the feelings they have for each other. Through their eyes (and sometimes the eyes of a terrible villain), we can enjoy the electrifying developments of this story.
The author never sacrificed the development of this tale for an easy resolution. Because of its many stirring elements, I kept the pages turning with eager anticipation until the very end.
I love the show "Criminal Minds" and this book reminded me of an episode of the show. A psychopath is on the loose and in his sick, twisted mind, he thinks that he can fix a disabled female artist by kidnapping and killing innocent children and women. He then poses and paints the bodies and leaves them until the public understands his message. This was a new author to me. I had never even heard of her, but the description of the book drew me in. I felt that her writing was well-structured and exciting. It left me eager to read more. The only thing that bothered me as I read was that when I reached the middle of the book, I had already figured out who the psychopath was. I like reading books where I don't know how the conflict will be resolved. It makes the book more exciting when I am left to guess. The suspense built and there were definitely many scenes with gory details. I highly recommend this book to those enjoy suspense.
