Μέσα από ένα μαγνητοφωνάκι και από τρεις διαφορετικές γενιές Εβραίων που μεγάλωσαν σε διαφορετικούς τόπους με διαφορετικά μυαλά, δίνεται μια σύντομη βιωματική ιστορία του σύγχρονου κράτους του Ισραήλ μέσα από όλων των αποχρώσεων τους φακούς, και ανάμεσα σε όλα αυτά ένας πιτσιρικάς που ψάχνει να βρει τα πατήματα του σε έναν κόσμο που αλλάζει με ραγδαίους ρυθμούς.

A mi parecer la importancia radica en el flujo ininterrumpido, coral, disperso que construye el narrador y como su historia está reescrita por medio de retazos (transcripciones) que rescata él por medio de su instrumento: mi Primer Sony. ¿De que otra forma haberlo realizado? Son recuerdos de un niño que aún no entiende/sabe como construir o armar todo lo que ha sucedido.

מרגש ויפה, מאוד ישראלי.
קצת הפריע לי שמשתמשים בנקודת המבט של ילד כמספר בשביל להגיד באגביות דברים עמוקים על החיים, גם אם מדובר במחשבות שלא תואמות את הגיל שלו בכלל.

J'ai beaucoup aimé l'écriture et plonger dans une façon religieuse et d'être qui ne m'était pas familier.
Mais j'ai eu beaucoup plus de mal à rentrer dans l'histoire.

Una novela envolvente, con una narración que parece una familia de matriuskas y refleja muy bien lo que podría ser el discurso algo errático o desordenado de un niño. He aprendido más sobre Israel, la II Guerra Mundial y judaísmo que en el Instituto.

La narrativa en esta historia es hipnótica, te atrapa sin aparentemente estar contando nada demasiado relevante además de la cotidianidad de una familia bastante normal, se detallan situaciones religiosas y políticas con diferentes puntos de vista de los personajes, mostrando debates muy naturales, en ocasiones pasionales y dramaticos en el contexto familiar.

It reads like a comedy, family history in contemporary Israel society. And like all comédies it is at the heart a real drama.

I'm am not fond of long sentences at the same time it fits the story.

בשביל הספר האחרון שלי לשנת 2023 בחרתי לחזור ולקרוא ספר שקראתי לא מעט פעמים בילדותי. אמנם מאוד אהבתי אותו אז אבל אני בטוחה שבשל גילי הצעיר יחסית בעת קריאתו המון נושאים עמוקים ורציניים יותר פשוט עברו לי מעל הראש.
כעת הייתי סקרנית לראות האם קריאה בספר בתור מבוגרת נותן לי פרספקטיבה שונה על הדמויות והעלילה.
דבר ראשון, להפתעתי הרבה, גיליתי שאף על פי שאם הייתם שואלים אותי לפני כן על דמויות והתרחשויות בספר הייתי אומרת שאני לא זוכרת כלום, ככל שהתקדמתי בספר הרגשתי שהזיכרון נעור לחיים. כנראה שלמרות הנוהג הידוע לשמצה של המוח שלנו לשכוח עלילה של ספר בשנייה שהוא הסתיים, זה לא כך בפועל, ומשהו ממנה בכל זאת משתמר.
את הספר עצמו אהבתי גם הפעם, אחרי כל השנים. היו מעט דברים שהבנתי קצת יותר- המתח בין ימין לשמאל, ציונות חילונית וחרדים, ניצולי שואה ודורות הבאים- הרגשתי שהפעם אני באמת מבינה ויודעת במה מדובר מניסיון אישי.
באופן טבעי גם הזדהיתי הפעם יותר עם דמויות המבוגרים מאשר דמויות הילדים. בתור ילדה הכל נראה לך כל כך פשוט, וברור לגמרי שיש פתרון מאוד קל לבעיות של המבוגרים. הפעם חשתי כלפיהם יותר חמלה והבנה, ובעיקר הערכתי את הדמויות המורכבות שלהם.
אבל השינוי הגדול ביותר עבורי בקריאה הזאת היה ההבנה שהחיים האמיתיים ומשפחות אמיתיות הן אכן סבוכות ומבולגנות כמו בסיפור המובא, ושלא מדובר באיזו עלילה דמיונית ומומצאת- כפי שחשבתי כילדה. כמו הילד מספר הסיפור, גם אני לצערי "זכיתי" לחזות במשפחתי המורחבת הולכת ומתפרקת למול עיניי. ממשפחה גדולה ומלוכדת עם חגים ומפגשים כשהייתי ילדה, הפכנו לכזאת בה חצי מהאנשים לא מדבר עם החצי השני, סכסוכים פנימיים וריבי ירושה.
אבל אני חושבת שההתפכחות הגדולה ביותר היא ההבנה שבעצם אולי דברים מעולם לא היו מושלמים כמו שנראו כשהיינו ילדים, וכמו שיותם המספר מראה לנו- גם השיא של הסיפור בו כולם יחד ושמחים וטוב להם, זה רק בעצם שבריר שנייה, רגע אחד טוב שנתפס במצלמה בעוד שמתחתיו רוחשים כל העת כל המתח והעניינים האחרים.
בשורה התחתונה- בעיניי ספר מומלץ. צורת הכתיבה אולי עשויה להיות מתישה קצת לחלק מהאנשים (קפיצה אסוציאטיבית קדימה ואחורה בזמן מסיפור לסיפור), אבל אני חיבבתי אותה- אולי כי ככה גם אני חושבת לרוב.

Primer libro que dejo sin acabar en bastante tiempo.

Al empezarlo me chocó un poco la forma en que estaba escrito: todo seguido, sin diálogos, sin capítulos, sin apenas párrafos. Entiendo que la historia está contada desde el punto de vista de un niño pequeño y es un poco “stream of consciousness” (madre mía, estudié eso en la uni y me sale ahora xD), pero se hace muy difícil y muy incómodo de leer.

Lo curioso es que he leído otros libros supuestamente relatados por niños y no son tan áridos. Por ejemplo, uno que me encantó (le di 5 estrellas!) es Toda la verdad sobre las mentiras. Otro que me gustó mucho hace años fue el de El curioso incidente del perro a medianoche. Y encima aquí el niño tenía autismo. En todos había diálogo, capítulos, en fin... una estructura y un cierto ritmo.

Al final esa forma de escribir me ha superado. Sólo me quedan 100 y pico páginas pero se hacen muy pesadas de leer, todo seguido, sin pausas. Y aunque antes me costaba hacerlo, ahora soy implacable con esto: si un libro no me gusta, no me enseña nada o no me entretiene, lo dejo y paso al siguiente. La vida es demasiado corta y hay demasiados libros por leer 😄

Yotam et sa famille vivent en Israël. Sa mère, d'origine argentine, se lamente des incartades amoureuses de son mari. Et un jour, celui-ci part pour vivre avec Mikhal. Sur son magnétophone Sony, offert par son père, Yotam enregistre les moments heureux et les instants tragiques de sa vie et de celle des autres. Il les commente, de son point de vue d'enfant.

Il décrit les disputes de ses parents, ses relations avec son frère et sa soeur, le destin de Noé qui est un rescapé des camps, la vie de Maya qui vit avec deux hommes…

Se dessinent en filigrane les débats religieux et politiques de 60 ans d'Histoire en Israël (la mère du narrateur est progressiste, son oncle Abraham est très orthodoxe au contraire…)

Le décalage du récit par un enfant d'une dizaine d'années est particulièrement amusant et touchant à la fois. Ce roman est un très beau texte, la fin est étonnante.

For those of us who loved reading 'Catcher in the Rye' here is a wonderful story delivered in the same vein: through the voice of a young, sensitive child, whose sentences run into each other with barely a stop, because he is not only the witness of the disintegration of his family, but is tested to the limit by it. This intense flow is cut off at the very end, because the protagonist finds himself at a loss of words at the last twist of the story. So will you.

His father, whom he adores despite his many vices, gives him a tape recorder, which the author uses as a literary device to capture the voice and breath patterns of the other characters.

I simply loved this story, and thought that the voice was profoundly authentic.

Worth every penny I paid for it, but that was only 50p. I don't doubt that this has some value as some kind of 'coming of age' type story for Jewish boys, but too many of the cultural references were lost on me, and in the end it just felt like sitting watching/listening to a family discussing and arguing about something which you knew little about and cared little about. That said, there was some interesting educational content in there which did help set things in context and inform me a little on Jewish history and culture.

It is fascinating to see adult family life through the eyes of a young boy and it also gives a very interesting background into Israeli society and history.
