"Sparkle" is a stand-alone sequel to "Dangerous Love".

Sparkle Jones is a rising star, with a cult following, and a closet full of great shoes. Life is good in the limelight. Now, all he needs is somebody to share it with. Despite the glamorous trappings of his life, Sparkle can’t escape his fear of living and dying alone. When the self-proclaimed diva agrees to accompany a friend to an upscale bathhouse, he never expects to run into the one man who will change his whole world and teach him what love is all about.

Simon Burns learned early in life how to thrive as a good-looking gay man. His well-earned reputation as the ultimate one-night stand and his skills as a lover are legendary. The straight-acting player has lived a double life for decades, keeping his private sexual escapades casual and anonymous. When tragedy hits close to home, he finds himself wondering if it’s all worth it. Is the player finally ready for love?

When these two worlds collide, sparks fly and neither man can deny their feelings. But the road ahead will not be easy. The bonds they build are put to the test, and they must decide if they are willing to sacrifice the lives they have built for themselves separately for the chance at something permanent together.

*** Fabulous, fun, heartwarming and wonderful M/M love story ! ***
Following Dangerous Love, we have book two in the Passions series, Sparkle's story. Each book can stand alone.
Sparkle/Sean, about 22, goes to a fancy Bathhouse

with his friend for a Spa day. While there he meets the older owner, Simon.
Simon is in his 40s, tall, muscled, well kept man

who looks like Clark Kent, and is known for his affinity for boy toys. Simon sees something in the lovely Sparkle, something more...
Sparkle is lean, toned, black and beautiful. He's a model, performer, singer, and fabulous, but lonely for something steady and real.
Simon is dealing with his Mom's decline into Alzheimer's and after he called her he went back downstairs to give Sparkle a tour of his business. With their tour and talk they became interested in taking their attraction further. Simon brakes his own rules, and invites Sparkle to his home to cook for him, and see what happens. A bargain happened, which surprises them both. Exclusivity and companionship was cemented with hard core sex; sweaty, rough and overwhelming. At Simon's day job, things are changing, and his Mom is ever failing. Sparkle is a haven of warmth, fun in the cruel world.

As always, Jerry Cole gives us deep characters to love, an interesting and flowing plot, plus the magnificent sizzle of explosive and wild sex scenes. We get everything we need and want in a story.
Then there is much more going on where Sparkle gives comfort, and is steadfast through his health problem. I loved when Sparkle sang in front of Simon's family. Awesome moment.
Tremendous story, I highly recommend ! ENJOY !

Sparkle is one of the characters from Jerry Cole’s last book Dangerous Love. You couldn’t possible not know who Sparkle Jones was. He’s has a flamboyant personality well known for his entertainment’s skills and acting, he loves being in the spotlight. Well, he’s in the spotlight now with a story written just for him.

At the end of Dangerous Love, Sparkle had a surprise that he wanted to share with his best friend by meeting his new boyfriend and stunned Jerrod when he introduced Sparkle’s date, Simon Burns. Jerrod and Aaron were both shocked to find out it’s their ex-boss was dating his best friend.

In the book, Sparkle, we find out how Simon and he met. One would think it’s possible when Sparkle’s friend, Maze takes him to an old bathhouse that’s been refurnished and turns out to be more luxurious then Sparkle expected. He’d expected a dirty, disgusting bathhouse.

Sparkle didn’t come to the bathhouse to find someone to have sex with and opted for a massage instead. It was near the spa area were an attendant, a big fan of Sparkles burst out excited to meet him. When the young man said he couldn’t wait to tell his friends, Simon stepped in to remind the man that he was not going to tell anyone that he met Sparkle there.

The tall, dark handsome older man wasn’t there as a client to have some fun, but Simon owned the bathhouse (though it was considered Simon’s playground). In the past Simon had never wanted a relationship with anyone; he liked his disposable one-night stands and had no problems finding someone to have sex with. But Sparkle intrigued him. There was something different about the gorgeous man and Simon wanted to persuade him to be only his, while he continued to have other lovers.

When a deal is presented to Sparkle, over lunch in Simon’s apartment, he could believe what the man wanted – basically a kept “mistress”. The bantering back and forth as to what the agreement would entail, Sparkle ends up getting what he wanted most – all inclusive, no other lover’s but them. Even though Sparkle got most of what he wanted with Simon he couldn’t believe he actually agreed to the insane relationship. Of course, the two had had quite a bit of wine to help make the decision.

The book goes through the insecurities of Simon after his mother’s death and more so after surgery for perforated ulcer. He felt old compared to Sparkle’s beautiful, youthful looks that any man would want him. How could he even compete with that as he ages? He was an old man; he had even loss his arousal when he was with Sparkle, but he didn’t communicate that to his lover. His loneliness crept back in as he shut doors on Sparkle’s love. Don’t get me wrong, he still loved Sparkle deeply.

Sparkle on the other hand, didn’t think about his comments to his lover with words like “old man” which was a constant reminder that Simon was aging and his already fragile insecurities made things worse. Sparkle wondered why Simon wouldn’t have sex with him and Simon was pulling further away from him.

Every time Sparkle asked Simon what was wrong, he wouldn’t tell him, instead “every things fine”. Then Sparkle had his lover followed to see if he was seeing someone else, but Simon was where he said he’d be every time.

It was heartbreaking reading both sides of their stories. Then the worse happened with Sparkle showed up late at night at the bathhouse to try to put some spice into their relationship, but what he found were Simon’s back to him naked and a younger man kneeling in from of him. Anyone would have thought the same as Sparkle did, but if he had stayed to argue with Simon he would have found out that the nurse from the hospital was taking a look at incision site. Simon had been experiencing pain there and hadn’t told anyone.

The breakup was seriously painful, but Jerry always finds a way for our couples to find their HEA ending, and they do. This book is a wonderful romance between and older man, Simon, and a younger man, Sparkle. Who both worked in different worlds, but together helped the other grow from their mistakes.

I got to see the other side of Sparkle, known as Sean, a side that was ready to change gears and retire the “Sparkle Jones” that’s had the spotlight for so many years. Such a great story; I would recommend this book. It could be a stand alone, but it’s nice to see how Sparkle was in Dangerous Love.

I loved the book. Jerry’s well thought out plots were interesting and engaging with great dialogue between the characters. I would highly recommend reading this one.

The book blurb does a much better job of describing this book than I ever could....
**********************************************************************************
This is the continuation of the story of Dangerous Love where Sparkle was the a secondary character. He was a riot;then, and then, so much more with his own story. I would describe him as a diva outright; flamboyant, and flashy. He meets Simon at all places: a bathhouse. I could feel his revulsion from the many stories of bathhouses of the past; but his fears are eliminated at the cleanliness, the well lit place and the feel of the place: no dank dark hole. The attraction was mutual. Sean(aka Sparkle) was interested; way interested. However, meeting at bathhouse; pretty much indicates he was a "playboy" or in his words "a peacock". However, Sparkle wants more: he wants to meet "THE ONE"; no doing the one night stands and hookups: he turns Simon down flat. However, they meet again and the electricity between Sparkle and Simon is still tangible. Then real life happens; which adds depth to the story. I do not t want to say any more to avoid spoilers but this was a very entertaining read.I read the previous book; but you are not really missing anything by not reading it. However, reading "Dangerous Love" would give a better insight of Sparkle's character: makes him more lovable.
I have to say Jerry's gives life to his characters. His books are always interesting and entertaining. I like the way Jerry's write: his sentence structure, his word usage and his imagination to write his stories. I would recommend this book or any book by Jerry for an entertaining read.

I enjoyed this m/m romance because it lacked all of the angst about whether one of the main characters was straight, bisexual, or gay. Having two gay men allowed for more character development and depth than usual and made the story more realistic. The story includes life-altering situations such as the death of a parent and main characters transitioning through the complications of aging while experiencing failures to communicate well in their relationship. Do you become your real self or do you live the life someone else expects or wants you to live with only a shadow of yourself? Getting to an HEA takes lost of effort!

I was given a complimentary advance reader copy of this book in exchange for sharing my honest opinion about it.

Sparkle was so adorable in Dangerous love he deserved this book. His story. Secretly he wants to be loved and have a relationship but so far his diva status won't let him. The. He finds an older and successful man, Simon, who has always been a player and his personal pool of men go to his business. A bathhouse. Then one day he meets Sparkle and he can't deny the attraction. He also can't deny that he does with Sparkle things he does with no one else. Sparkle is also accepting things with Simon he won't do for anyone else. I really love this story! It touches so many aspects of what a gay interracial couple may live. The things they go through and the changes they make in the name of love without even knowing is amazing. I started as a fan of Sparkle and ended loving Simon too.

toxic

They always say opposites attract and that could be said for Sparkle and Simon. Simon was never on to like flashy feminine men but when he met Sparkle that all changed. What started out as one night filled with passion turned into a twisted relationship where they couldn't be together yet still they can't stay apart. They must find a way to make things work.

Sparkle & Simon were so great for each other! Both men believed that they were happy and had achieved their dreams in life by refusing to allow emotions to muddy any hookups. But both men realized at the beginning of the story how very isolated and lonely they truly were. So, when Simon proposes a friends-with-benefits type of a deal with an exclusivity clause, they both jump into it without a second thought.

Luckily, neither man can keep his emotions in check where the other is concerned and the casual, business like relationship quickly develops into much more.

I loved that, from the very first time that they met, Simon didn't let Sean hide completely behind his Sparkle persona. Instead, Simon saw through the bravado, and the fierce independence, to the lonely man beneath it all. And I loved that Sparkle refused to be shunted aside for any reason - he wasn't in the closet and wouldn't let Simon put him there. Each man inspired the best in the other, and was strong at the point of the other's greatest weakness.

Ultimately, the drama in the book came from lack of communication. Simon, being significantly older than Sparkle, unilaterally decides that his age is a factor that will break them, and so he passively begins to push Sparkle away. But Sparkle being Sparkle doesn't let it go at that and shows once and for all that these two characters belong together.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This was a wonderful story about Sparkle, a man who we met in the first book of this series. A gay femme, he struts through his growing popularity as an actor in his high heels and bright sparkly clothes, all make up in place. Having been a "player," he has now come to a time in his life that he wants more. Jealous of friends who have found their forever mates, he is dangling alone in his small apartment. Simon owns a upscale gay bathhouse and is a successful banker during the day. Having the pick of the crop of gays at his bath house, he has no end of one night stands. Sparkle is dragged along by his friend to the bathhouse where the two men collide and both of their lives are turned upside down. Simon is suffering from middle age syndrome and is worried his is getting too old for the likes of Sparkle. Sparkle is finding that he has lost his real self amid the "sparkles" of his present life. Follow these two as they struggle in their relationship through struggling self images, illness, fooling themselves, lust, mid life crisis, hot gay sex, tears, grief, and love that seems to keep slipping through their fingers. Excellent story. Plus meet old friends from the first book to see how they are doing. Happy reading! I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

Sean (Sparkle) Jones hasn’t had a free day in a while and when his friend invited him out he jumps at it. He doesn’t expect his friend to bring him to an exclusive high class bathhouse that caters to the customer’s needs and wants. But his friend manages to talk him into giving it a try. It doesn’t hurt that he comes across a handsome older stranger.

Simon Burns is a successful business man during the day and a successful owner of an exclusive bathhouse at night. When he catches sight of Sparkle he can’t help but be drawn to the dark skin long haired sassy diva. Simon wants him but Sparkles isn’t looking for a one night stand. Simon won’t give up though. He wants Sparkle and he intends to make Sparkle his.

I really like story lines like this where the characters enter into agreement wanting one thing but getting more than they bargained for the longer the relationship goes on. Sparkle and Simon were intriguing characters in their own way and somewhat similar. They had great chemistry until one or the other starts mucking it up because of their own insecurities or some sort of misunderstanding.

I liked that the author took the time to write in his characters having safe sex and touching base on HIV/AIDs.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

„Sparkle” is a MM romance and a sequel to „Dangerous Love” by Jerry Cole.

Sparkle is a star, living a glamorous life. The only thing missing in his life is a man to love.
Simon Burns is only interested in one-night stands, casual and preferably anonymous. Those two shouldn’t become involved, but against the odds they form a bond that pulls them toward each other.

I enjoyed that one. It was a good story, with an interesting plot. At the beginning pace was a bit too slow, but then it picked up and the story really captured my attention.
It was nice to see Sparkle again, as well as Jerrod and Aaron. Although, I admit that I had a hard time with connecting to both Sparkle and Simon. Hence, 4 stars instead of 5. The dynamics between those two was a bit odd.
All in all, pleasurable story.

I have never read a Jerry Cole book I didn't like and this one was no exception!
Sparkle is an adorable character. He is so adorable and just looking to have his own special someone. After they meet at the bar in an exclusive bathhouse where he has gone for a massage, Sparkle thinks Simon Burns might be 'The One' apart from one fatal flaw, Simon does not want a relationship, just a hook-up.
Simon Burns owns the bathhouse where the two first meet. He spends his days fraternising with his customers to satisfy himself. He finds himself drawn to Sparkle. There is just something about him - as the name implies he is 'sparkly'. He lets his character come to the surface and is lively and vibrant on the outside but on the inside he has a whole host of insecurities.
They eventually begin an exclusive relationship and we follow them through all their ups and down, highs and lows, sickness and health (almost like marriage) until their painful break-up. But you just know that Jerry is going to pull off a HEA - because it says so in his synopsis!
I loved this book

This was an anticipated book, and I'm glad to say it did not disappoint. Sparkle was as multi-faceted as he needed to be to truly shine and captivate. Simon faced very real fears that, though they were irrelevant in this relationship, were very real to him and therefore valid. I found myself torn between wanting to give comfort and shake some sense into them each. The flow and the mood are all on point and I just have nothing negative to say about this book.

Sparkle and Simon are facing an obstacle we all face at one time in our life (insecurity). When an individual is insecure irrational behavior starts to control every facet and more often than not individuals are hurt in the process. This story takes you on a journey of self discovery. Will self discovery come too late? Will self discovery enable one's forgiveness for the mistreatment endured?
