This is a pricey ebook at 85.00, but has some excellent advice on planning for a controlled exit from a job. The information is probably available via blog posts and other sources peicemeal, but the whole point is to have one source and more or less a work book. I found some sections to have a pretty strong gender bias that rankled me, but these were short bits and didn't distract from the overall value of the book. If you are considering an early retirement or thinking a layoff could be coming at your work, this is a good book to read. There are many links and resources in the book that are helpful, some are clear revenue sources for the author as well so just be aware.

The book was expensive and a big waste of a lot of money personally, unfortunately.

I completely recommend skipping if:
1) You work in a fast paced industry, and layoffs happen quickly with little notice
2) You work at a very large corporation, where there is not much wiggle room

I recommend buying if:
1. You know about impending layoffs and want to NEGOTIATE a severance package
2. You are on the fence about asking for a layoff, but have a general sense that it's possible

I could definitely see it being useful for people at small to medium companies who are nearing retirement and have a strong relationship with their manager, but at this price tag I wish the author didn't overpromise. I was not able to get any value from this book for my situation.
