I've known her my whole life. Okay, not really, I was three when she was born but who remembers being that young? Joie's like my little sister, at least, that's how I've treated her. She needed someone to look out for her. Her family's a mess. It doesn't seem to bother her but it bothers me. Just like when her first boyfriend broke up with her because she wouldn't put out. Joie didn't care but I did. That punk still runs the other way when he sees me. Most of my high school career was spent keeping her away from knuckleheads who only wanted to have fun with her, boys that thought she was hot because she was good on drums, and pretty much any guy that looked her way. She was too good for them, still is. She's too good for me; I know this. Here's the thing though, I want her. I can't stop thinking about her. And what makes it worse is I know she wants me. It would be easy. I don't exactly have a history of being the good boyfriend or any kind of boyfriend. I'm not into that. Easy come, easy go. But this is Joie and that makes things complicated. I don't do complicated. Easy is my thing, always has been. There's only so much a man can take though. Each day, I can feel my self-control slipping. One more accidental touch and I'm gonna break. One more goofy smile and I won't be able to hold back any more. One more drum beat and I'm done.

This book is Palmer written by M. Sembera. I love all of the stories in the Marked Heart and Second Generation Marked Heart series. These are an awesome set of characters and even though they may be flawed, some much more than others, they are all so loveable in their own ways. This story is about Palmer and his friendship with Joie. Don't miss any of the wonderful books written by M Sembera! I received an complimentary advance review copy of this book and chose to voluntarily leave this review.
Oh Palmer!!! You have the Caffrey blood in you. You remind me so much of your Uncle Auggie. Palmer is a sweet guy but can come off as an asshole at times. Not meaning too. He's been in love with Joie for years but she is younger than him and decides one day to kiss her , it takes her by surprise and she hits him. She has a secret... when Palmer finds out will he run or will he stay and fight for her?
I always get excited when Mary says she is sending me her work. Palmer is possibly my favourite of her books so far. Mary is a good friend and sends me her work regularly. This book was a lovely soft story that has a beautiful flow to it. It was like a home cooked comfort food so good you gorge yourself on it and feel sad when it's finished. Palmer was a lovely guy the only thing that bugged me was his introduction at the beginning, BUT that was just an opinion thing. GO ONE CLICK NOW
The next book in the 2nd Generation series is Palmer, who is the son of Braden and Liv. In book one of the series (First), you find out that he is hot for Joie, who happends to be the drummer in his band. But you also find out that his cousin Roe and her have 'something' going on, but not quite sure what that 'something' is.
Palmer, having a crush on Joie forever, decides to test the waters with Joie--what does he have to lose? He tries to kiss her and she busts him in the eye. Wondering 'what the hell' he demands an explanation from Joie, and she drops a bomb on him, which causes family friction, including a huge brawl between him and Roe.
It turns out that Joie likes Palmer too, but because he is an ass and not things are very complicated, the relationship is over before it even gets started.
Will the complication be too much to keep them apart, or will that very complication bring everyone together?
Another great story from the Caffrey family. Good story telling. Looking forward to reading Roe.
Oh my goodness, could you frustrate me just a LITTLE MORE with your fade to black sex scenes. Holy crap! I have other titles by this author and I think I'm going to put them waaaaaayyy down on the shelf. The writing overall wasn't bad but the lack of a good love scene really killed it for me.
