As captain of an Irish mafia crew, Shane O’Mara has everything he wants. Money, women, and power. He can have anything, except the one woman with whom he’s obsessed. Mia Kasilli, daughter of a Russian kingpin, wants nothing to do with that lifestyle.
When Shane can no longer be without her, he orchestrates a series of actions that leave her father in his debt and Mia in his power. He’s dark and dangerous, the embodiment of everything she doesn’t want in a man, so why does she crave him so much? She’ll fight him every step of the way, but how will she fight herself?
This story contains situations some readers might find objectionable. If a hot mafia man driven to any lengths to possess the woman he wants isn’t your thing, you probably wouldn’t enjoy this book. However, if you like a dark, Alpha, possessive man with a tender core deep down, who will do anything for the woman he loves, including kidnapping, going to war with rival mafia, protecting her from her enemies, and fighting through her resistance to change her perceptions, get ready to meet Shane.
2.5 stars The story started off really good, loved the hero, loved the dub con. The heroine though was too whiny. Sure, she could be angry and feel distain for the hero’s taking her, but she was attracted to him. The hero genuinely seemed to be into her, care for her even. Steamy in parts. Then the story with her stepbrother’s taking advantage of her while the H wanted to save her and she was still whiny. Push and pull. And story was overly descriptive of every mundane activity and progression was slow. DNF at 40%
Soo good! Soo dark! And yet under it all there is some light. The characters in this story are phenomenal! I enjoyed watching their personalities come together and clash as they slowly made their way to love. The author really paid attention to detail with each of there encounters and it truly enhanced the story. Then when you throw in the sicko stalker it upped the intensity making for a story I didn’t want to put down. I can’t wait to see who finds love next, I’m really hoping it’s Cormac. There are some major trigger warnings, so be warned. But , if you take the chance, I think you’ll find the romance worth the effort.
Holy hell Batman, this was not what I'd expected. It's darker than I thought it would be...still I enjoyed the story. H sees the h and becomes obsessed with her. Arranges an elaborate scheme to have her involving setting up her father. He kidnaps her and keeps her prisoner in his house. uses her as his sex slave hoping for her to succumb to the Stockholm which, with the threat of her sick, twisted, pedophile stepbrother coming for her, happens really fast.
There is def dub/con and non/con in this story, child rape and torture so this is not a feel good story. Also the story is quite straight forward. There is no added layer to exploit all the feels of all the angst and ugliness.

I loved the beginning of the story; the premise, the plot and everything. In fact, I was mentally prepared for the non-consensual-sex that many people would deem taboo. It was fine for me, in this case. It was not overly disdainful to my taste. I thought, "Hmm, perhaps I could like this one." However, the story progressed pretty much the same for the next 100 pages or so, with the Hero forcing sexual acts on the heroine and with the heroine enjoying them. Again and again. It became mundane. It became tiresome. It became boring. There was no angst. No other plot development beside the bit of history about the heroine's stepbrother who had been obsessed with her since she was a teen. Not much to keep me glued to this book. This was an unfinished book for me. Bye, Felicia.
Which is a genre I happen to enjoy, but some will not so please take heed of the author's warning and be aware that it contains scenes of violence and sexual assault. It also contains a sexy ,alpha ,antihero willing to go to extreme lengths to possess he object of his infatuation...beginning with Kidnap. The tale intensifies with twists, turns, action and emotion....And a HEA. It is written in third person, which usually isn't my preference but worked here and was a change of pace. I will likely move on to read more of the series.
I Love mafia romances. This said, this book hit all the triggers. Kidnapping, sex, two men fighting for ownership of a woman, a father who is left with a girl child that he doesn't want. I was very involved in the book and couldn't put it down. The author fantastic job of drawing you in as part of the plot. Kinda Silver, this is my first book by you, but not my last.
OK so I knew this was a dark mafia romance and that it had non con and dub con before I started reading it. I liked the overall story line and the characters, however, I really didn't like the Shane used sex as a weapon against her, even after telling him she had been abused and raped for years as a child.
However I did like the book besides that enjoyed the read.
Since I love love love mafia romance books and they pretty much are all the same I expected that to be the case with this book. I was wrong, this is very dark and unexpected. Mia is an excellent heroine, strong and witty. Her exchanges with Shane left me laughing at times. You can't go wrong with this book, look forward to reading other books by this author.
This book wasn’t as dark as I was expecting. It was pretty twisted though. Was it Stockholm syndrome or was it love though? I was glad the heroine got her revenge in the end. Hated how a captain was just left go from the mob? That was too much for me... overall it was a quick and easy read and kept me on my toes. I never knew what was going to happen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this seamlessly written book. Although graphically violent in places it fit with story, not glossed over at all. Not "dark" at all, but enlightening and carefully spelled out to its conclusion. Awesome.
I love Josie Jade. Her alter ego, not so much. This was one f'd up story. That's pretty much all I can say. I'm good with the love-Mafia trope. This was just...dark dark and over the top.
Being able to take out the violating abuser is music to my soul. Loved how Mia just didn't give in or give up. Enjoyed the overcoming trials and being able to deal the final blow.
***TRIGGER WARNING*** I would like to start by saying this book seemed very familiar from the cover and title to the description. I went ahead and read anyway because this was a new author for me. This is indeed a previously published book R.E. Saxton. I didn't mind rereading though as I did enjoy the dark read. This book does have a trigger warning due to non consent and rape scenes. I would recommend for anyone looking for an amazingly dark romance that ends with an HEA. This can be read as a standalone. However, Cormac: A Dark Mafia Novella does take place during this story, but doesn't really add anything to Shane and Mia's story.
I was maybe expecting a bdsm lifestyle to be involved in predominantly and I was surprised by the fact that I have just hung on every word of a book that did EVERYTHING for me that I come to love in dark (Mafia predominantly) romance but with a different approach and vibe.
