After six years together, butterflies would still take flight in my stomach every time he walked into a room. With just one smile I was putty in his hands. He promised me forever with every touch of his lips. Too late, I realized that I was being kept in an illusion made of glass; only to have him smash it apart and disappear before he could see it shatter around me in perfect ruins.
With a tiny life held in the palm of my hands, I'm haunted by the man who abandoned us.
And then there was him.
Immersing himself within the dust and debris as I was slowly opening my eyes to this new reality. He says he wants forever, but how can I believe him when love lies and forevers don't truly exist.
Lou and Ella Fields have always been lovers of the written word, especially when it comes wrapped up in a neat little package of pages and labelled romance. You can usually find them running up their phone bills as they spend hours on the phone, plotting and planning various ways to break hearts before deciding how to deliver the perfect happily ever after.
The premise of the story was good and some of the characters - especially Millie and Beau and Olive's bosses - were really fun and engaging.
I also just LOVE stories where someone has COMPLETELY fucked up and you know there is massive potential for angst and groveling.
I used to HATE angst.
But, as my reading tastes have undergone a bit of a...shift...
...I now love angst.
I suddenly find myself gobbling it up like a fat kid with a Halloween candy haul.
All that said, I think other people will probably enjoy this a lot more than I did.
Even though the writing was fine (minus a few typos, etc. here and there, which I don't really care about), the story was decent, and the side characters were great...I had trouble feeling the connection between Olive and Sebastian.
I really liked Sebastian, but he and Olive were just boring to me, quite frankly. I didn't see what made Olive so special. She was very...bland. Millie overshadowed her at every turn for me.
Like I said though, I think a lot of people won't have this problem and will really enjoy this book as a whole. Which isn't to say that I didn't enjoy it; in fact, I am almost done with book two.
2.5 Stars I struggled so hard to enjoy Elapse but for some reason I couldn't. The story was okay and so was the characters. Sadly the story wasn't memorable and I couldn't connect with Liv or feel her chemistry with Zeke or Seb. Believe me, I tried so freaking hard but I was just bored because nothing particularly happened throughout this story. Liv finds out she's pregnant, the father of her baby leaves her and she meets Seb, who she forms a friendship with that slowly evolves into more. It ends with a predictable cliffy which I saw coming miles away. Seb was my favorite character. Everything about him was great and his parents too. He was Liv's rock along with her friend Millie who was a hoot. He was so good to Liv and Rose. He truly was the definition of a perfect guy. Elapse just wasn't my book and it pains me cause I really wanted to love it but it just wasn't meant to be.
Great angsty story. I truly felt all the emotions that Olive went through, from being completely devastated by her extreme asshole boyfriend, who treated her like shit, packed his bags and moved away just because olive accidentally became pregnant; to all the worries through the pregnancy, and her lost feelings of knowing she's going to be a single parent without Zeke. Seb was such a sweetheart and I adored everything about him. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Heroine is dumped by the Loser Love of her Life and Mr. Too Perfect for Words swoops in. It's a duet so let's face it, all the good stuff's coming in the next one.
A new book from two new authors just gave me the chills, lol, but in a good way of course. It's always scary to start reading a book from a new author but Dayum this book is something else. There is one thing that I have to highlight and the thing is that this book is the first book published by these wonderful authors. Can you guees what's about to hit you? No you can't because I didn't. Lou-Ella Fields are two amazing author with an amazing writting. Their writing is simple, intense, heartfelt and with a little kinky stuff. Elapse explores Olive's life. She thought that she had everything, a job, a roof over her head and the love of her life until one they the bastard leaves her. She wants to give up but with the help of her best friend she will try to get up early on her feet. But can a damaged heart heal? Can she find happiness again? Or is she doomed to fail on that department. Well my lips are sealed because I hate spoilers but let's just say that I'm still speechless. The level of emotions displayed on this book is so high that will leave you shaking. Every chapter was a challenge to see if I was getting even more nervous, anxious or happy. There were parts of this book that I wanted to get in and smack a few characters but there were others that I wanted to get in and cuddle with them. Can I tell you guys a secret? The hot scenes are freaking amazing. And now what Lou and Ella? I'm still mad at both of you. You really needed to end the book like this?? What are you trying to do? Give me an heart attack? How long will I have to wait for the second book? Please tell me that its going to be just a few days because I'll die waiting for it. Dayum....
I’ve just added a new author to my list of favorites, Lou-Ella Fields I absolutely LOVED it!!! This is her first book and she or should I say they sucked me right in. I was addicted from the beginning, even recommended it to friends before I was halfway through. This sweet and emotional story flows so easily I was surprised to find that it is actually written by two authors. Lou and Ella Fields well done!!!
Zeke seriously…..?
Olive, with a broken heart and her friend Milli by her side is so strong and determined to get through this new challenge in her life. What’s so great is that for Liv not only do good things come in small packages they come in big ones as well and his name is Sebastian; so sweet and patient, his love…..so pure. I love how Seb falls so easily into step once he gets over his initial reaction. He’s perfect, supportive, even as he waits patiently for Liv’s healing heart while risking his own. I cried many tears both happy and sad in celebration, joy and sorrow through this emotional journey. You don’t just read it; you feel it!
I love this book so much because it feels so real, not a fairy tale but, real life. There’s pain and happiness, it’s up and down, a steady realistic pace makes each experience believable. The characters are loveable and have great chemistry whether it is a friendship or romantic relationship. Will I read more from this author? Absolutely!!! I can’t wait for book 2, Erase. I know it’s going to be another emotional ride but I look forward to it. As for their friends Millie and Beau they are so funny I’m hoping I get a chance to read their story as well.
Can't believe this was a debut novel, you'd never know and I'm desperate for book two.
The blurb drew me in and I knew I had to read it.
Olive is left heartbroken, never did she imagine anything that happened would happen and to her, so when her ex leaves her She has to try and rebuild her life and feels love may never happen again.
Then Olive meets the most amazing man in Seb, they become friends at first as Liv tries to guard her heart but he's so swoon worthy he'd make any heart melt. I really wanted Liv and Seb to be more because she deserved the happiness after heartache and Seb is everything she could hope for. While there are many emotions Olive friends brings plenty of laughs, this book was well round and had something of everything, but that ending just blew it out the water.
5 debut stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This duet came highly recommended and Did not disappoint. I was hooked from page one, almost to scared to read on to see what was going to happen. I fell hard for Seb, he was just beautiful. And that text,Seb:Not as pretty as you.........talk about sweet. All the characters are loveable. A must read.
Incredible writing and extremely emotional. I dove in right after I finished Ella Field's latest book. I absolutely loved Sebastian and my heart broke for Liv and all she endured. What a great story with lots of heartache!
Wow!!!!! Cannot believe this is their debut book. It's seriously freaking good. I absolutely loved this story and binged it in one afternoon session. Not going to giveaway the story but it's got it all - loveable heroine, seriously hot geeky alpha (swoon city), hilarious best friend, great supporting characters and a story that the authors actually took the time develop at a realistic pace. Making you believe the love story is real. Oh and seriously hot sex. Cause you know I like that in my romance books too. Definitely recommend this book. Cannot wait for book two
I can't believe that this is the debut book for these two authors. It certainly reads as seasoned writers and boy did I love it. While it had some heartache in it, it was so sweet and made me feel good just to read it.
Olive (Liv) thought she had her life planned out even after she had already dealt with immense grief in her life. She had a boyfriend she loved for 6 wonderful years, a great job and a BFF she loved like a sister. She is broken hearted to learn that forever doesn't always mean that when the one closest in your life can break and dismiss you as if you never really existed to him at all.
On her own with a new baby to take care of, Liv tried her best to trudge on and forget the one who broke her heart. Can she ever open herself up like that ever again to another man?
Seb wasn't looking for a woman but for some reason he can't seem to stay away from Liv. She definitely has her guard up and he can see why. What happens when he wants more than friendship, will Liv let him in and help her heal and move on or will the barriers around her heart stay up and keep him out forever?
OMG I need a Sebastian for myself! ! He's the perfect BBF.
Now, this one ends on a gigantic cliffhanger. Like, I mean a mother of a cliffhanger and now I can't wait for the next part.
This is a cliffhanger, and I must admit it captivated my interest. The heroine has been in a relationship with her high school sweetheart for severa years and she's found out she is pregnant. Ok, they are still young but it seems they are sure thing, so when she accidentlaly finds out she's pregnant she thinks the hero will cope. He doesn't and acts like he's high on drugs. He accuses her to trap him and he dumps her. Definitely. He leaves town. He doesn't answer. He ghosts her, completely. The heroine is hurt and thank god she's able to cope and move on. She meets the hero, a nice and caring man, who waits for her until she's ready to love again and takes care of her and her pregnancy as if he's the father. They fall in love, and the heroine is ready to love again. Thank god and the author for that. The heroine has a daughter. She is now happy with the hero (not the ex) Nobody knows what happened to the ex. He left town, girl, mother, friends. He left everything. The ex comes back. Cliffhanger. ...
I can't believe this is Lou-Ella Fields debut novel! It is EVERYTHING! The writing is so good and the characters are so well written. Even the secondary characters are perfect! There were a lot of scenes that involved Liv's best friend Millie that had me crying because I was laughing so hard. It's the perfect amount of sweet and sassy. It'll tug at your heartstrings and make you question the possibility of forever. However, the male lead is so swoon worthy that you'll be mended back together in the end and believing again. But Elapse does end in a cliffhanger! So make sure you One Click this AMAZING debut novel and pre order Erase because you're not going to want to miss the conclusion to this duet! Definitely found a new favorite author. ❤
Awesome job capturing the cuteness of Rose and therefore the reason every adult falls in love with this baby. The touching scenes between Seb and Rose showed Seb hands down to be the better man. And it was unnecessary to try draw parallels between Seb and Zeke just to create a conflict for Olive. I never really got a clear picture of Zeke’s aversion to marriage and babies and neither was he convincing as the repenting asshole come to reclaim the family he threw away.
Elapse is a fantastic read. It was well written and I liked how it progressed. The characters were very well developed and truly genuine. I loved Olive and Seb there connection was dynamite. I also liked the secondary characters they made the story too. It was a sweet, fun and heartbreaking story that makes you have all the feels. Can't wait to dive into the next book and find out how it ends.
At first, I was a bit frustrated with Liv - when someone does something that appalling, you don't need them. But in all reality, this story is, well, more realistic- love doesn't just end, and hearts don't just mend. This is a sweet story that may be predictable, but has enough emotion it it to draw me in and want more. *Warning- this is book one of two, and does end in a cliffy.
I thought this book was pretty good. Olive has had a tough road but has weathered through with strength after being left pregnant by her long time boyfriend Zeke. Seb meets Olive while she is pregnant and falls in love with both her and eventually, the child. It ends with a pretty predictable cliff hanger.
Loved Seb in this book. Really was the hero to Olive during a difficult time. Only gave it 4 stars because of the predictable cliff hanger.
4 stars for the story, bumped it down to 2 because of the cliffhanger. 🤷🏻♀️
1 Star = DNF. 2 Star = Finished. Didn’t really enjoy. 3 Star = Finished. Story was neither good nor bad. 3.5 Star = Finished. Story was good. Will probably pick up next in series if there is one. 4 Star = Finished. Enjoyed story & will definitely pick up next in the series! 5 Star = Bloody LOVED it! ❤️
This is a first read for me by these authors and wow what a great book, I Devoured it in a day. Olive and Sebastian are such great maim characters and make this story work. thanks the first of a duet and ends on a mother of a cliffhanger but the second was just released so no waiting time. I volunteered to read a copy of this book
Oh my... I’m not sure where to even begin! It’s been a while since I’ve had a book devour my soul! You know that feeling when you’re reading such an amazing book? This is definitely it! Liv has been through an emotional hell. Yet she surrounded by the best people. This book had me laughing and crying! You will absolutely love it! Highly recommend it!
This book captured me right from the start. I couldn’t read it quick enough. Liv is such an amazing and strong woman and I definitely fell in love with her. And oh my goodness...Seb. Serious book boyfriend material. He’s a top contender for my top 5 ultimate book boyfriends. Can’t wait for the conclusion!
On I feel for Olive baby's daddy bails then the new guy in town cute and quirky Seb makes her want more . Then there's cute tattooed medic Seb moves to a small town and falls for broken hearted pregnant Olive . Then baby's daddy pop's back in just to rock the boat.
Sebastian makes this book. Hands down. Olivia is just a bonus… even though it’s about her. Sebastian’s patience, is what we all want in a man. Closet alpha, dedicated. Ugh he’ll forever by my book boyfriend.
