The first battle is won but the war is not over and we have some breathing room to truly train Jack up, that was a pretty good start to the series. We jump into this where we left off, with Alyssa and Jack in the deadside as Jack just accepted full access to his powers to go and save Alyssa from the dead. The dead here are the last parts of a life scene everything but the never ending hunger is stripped away. As you can imagine, Mr Twist sends a lot of these creatures here, and Shadowman knows about them because the Loa knows about them and they are one, but luckily they are no match for Shadowman and his scythe. He is able to slash them away then banish them away with a yell and a strike of his scythe. But Alyssa was still left weakened, prompting Jack to out his head against hers, sending out some form of vibration that revived her.
But things are just getting started, they have a lot to contend with back home, and I’m not just talking about Mr Twist…but his benefactors as well, the benefactors to bring on the end of the world, the elite of the world that, just like the dead, cannot help but continue to want more and more and have teamed up with Darque to do it and bring him back…the brethren. But the brethren are all growing older and they don’t have much time left, they need things to go smoothly now so they can have their promised power…ha, as if they would ever truly get that from a creature of destruction like Darque. But all of that currently rests in the hands of Mr Twist, who so desperately trying to crack Dox open to get to all of the power held inside of his body, trapped there by the grand veves inscribed on him. But Mr Twist has been sent here as the vessel to bring Darque back, and he doesn’t have to consume Dox to do it, instead he can take the power and channel it in a way to open a portal to his master. Right as he does so, he witnesses a figure walking through the portal, and right as he begins to welcome his master…Shadowman instead leaps out and slices through Twist! He then cuts Dox free. It’s time to get that portal closed, best idea Shadowman has is to continue slicing up Twist. But he doesn’t seem capable of killing the creature that can even regrow his head. Dox quickly figures out that something else is wrong, as Twist isn’t drawing power from him and the portal is still open. Twist is the spell himself. All the while, one door is open and Darque is opening the other door from his side, surrounded by the university where he stole their knowledge then killed their teachers. The last pupil has the door ready and all he needs now is for his creature to approach and open it. Suddenly, just like the very start of this series, the new Shadowman and Twist are going through the portal together. Dox immediately recognizes it as a similar situation as before and gets Alyssa to tell him everything that happened within. Shadowman and Twist are now inside the deadside to witness the giant glowing door appear as Darque steps through to join them! Well isn’t that the worst possible outcome, and for a moment Shadowman recognizes Darque. Could it be because the Loa recognizes him? But then Dox and Alyssa come rushing through, they need to take down Twist and the way to do it is all around them…time to call the diner bell. Jack realizes what they mean and slams down his scythe, suddenly the dead come rushing towards them, ripping and devouring Twist completely. Everything becomes unstable as Shadowman delivers the final blow to twist, as he retreats through the closing portal with Dox and Alyssa. They make it out on the other side safely while Darque is left trapped between worlds. Probably not the best place with his close be is, but this gives them a chance to train before the brethren catch on and work again to bring Darque back, and at the very least Darque has a bit of company in the form of Jaunty the monkey. Hahaha, what a duo.
