Some of these are ghost stories and most of the others are overlong. If you are looking for quality, fast paced detective fiction you will be disappointed. Much of the content was chosen for its historical importance, ie who did it first, not who did it best. Often they chose the right author but the wrong story.

Most of them were really good stories and I was happy it had all of the Sherlock Holmes and Father Brown. Just a few sections I wasn’t a fan of. There are definitely a few stories that do not fall into the category of mystery. They feel more like historical thrillers.

Fifty stories!! Hard to find stories of mysteries and brilliant detective work. Can't believe I got this book for only $.99 on Kindle!! What a deal. I'm not reading straight through, so I won't be finished for a while. But I am thoroughly enjoying each book in this volume.

Update: finished the last one. Such a great escape from the regular routine of life. Very enjoyable.
