5 Stronger Stars!! A health and fitness must-have!!!!!
If I ever meet Jasinda Wilder in person, I am going to kiss her face. Maybe Jack's too, LOL!!! <3
I cannot thank them enough for all of the resources they have stockpiled into this book. After losing nearly 40 pounds as an outcome from following her first plan, described in Big Girls Do It Running, I was so excited to see that she was adding to the plan. I highly recommend reading BOTH books. They are kind of like a step one and two.
I've been running and eating according to the Wilder Way plan for almost the last year, since her first book came out. But when it came to strength training, all I knew were the things I have learned from very expensive personal trainers and gyms in the past (like, waaaay past). And see here's the thing. Who has time for all of that anymore? Some people do, and that's awesome. But when you're a young mom, work a full-time job, a husband, have two kids in competitive sports, and have a bazillion other commitments, we're all doing good to even find 45 minutes to get a workout in with a day, right? If that describes you, then this is the book for you. It is filled with awesome nutrition tips, tricks to beat any plateau, and workouts that you can do AT HOME. For a fraction of the cost of joining a gym, you will have all the needed tools to do all of the current "hot" workouts, like CrossFit type activities, at home. I started last week, and let me tell you, I have been running 5-7 miles a day four days a week for the last 10 months, and those workouts busted my ever-loving ass!! I can't wait to do it again, though. Tomorrow! It's a full evolution of where the program started last year.
Add in some of Jasinda's awesome recipes as well as her personal stories, told in her usual quirky and witty way, and it makes for a great, must-have health and fitness book.
I did do a Whole30 over the last year and I have tried a few CrossFit gyms, just to spice things up and to push myself. But Jasinda's plan has been at the core of my weight loss success. Since May 9th of last year, I have lost over 45 pounds and I am never hungry, nor do I ever feel deprived. I feel great. I am even signed up to run a half-marathon later this year. None of this ever would have been possible without these amazing resources.
Couldn't recommend them any higher!!
P.S. My kids and husband follow the plan too and love it! Yep, two divas ages 9 and 4. If you don't do it for you, do it for your children so that they can have a lifetime of good health. :))
Jasinda is back with the follow-up to the hit Big Girls Do It Running. In this 2.0 version of her plan she has packed some amazing recipes, lots of motivation, updated fitness ideas. With her "cut out sugar and increase fitness activity" mantra, Jasinda has inspired a movement of woman who are finding they can lose weight without any crazy binge dieting. The deep personal stories are back for those who like that, the humor is still present and the delicious recipes are on point. I can't recommend this book enough. If you were a fan of the first book then I highly recommend you grab this one. It's going to be the second wind you need in your journey!
This is a fantastic extension on Big Girls Do It Running! I can't wait to incorporate this into my lifestyle. I definitely recommend this. My life has changed so much for the better since starting BGDIR close to a year ago. Also, there are a bunch of great recipes I can't wait to try :)
If you've read and experienced Big Girls Do It Running, you have to get Big Girls Do It Stronger. This book is an extension of BGDIR, it will give you the courage to continue to get healthy and get stronger, too. You also get a glimpse into Jack's view of getting stronger and fit (and of course his take on veggies). Jack and Jasinda are a wonderful team that will stand by you and encourage you through this amazing journey to health and strength. You also get amazing recipes and tips to get you to your health goals. Wonderful for the whole family.
I read the first book, followed the plan and am really conscious about what goes in my body. This book explains so much more. No counting, carb cycling, exercise and support. Yes, support! There is a Facebook group led by Jasinda that is awesome! Come join us in the Wilder Way movement!
Seriously this book, is LIFE changing. But it now, and the first book too..
Big Girls do it Stronger is a great addition to the #Wilderway plan. I loved Big Girls do it Running and the wilderway plan. It made me feel so much better to cut sugar out of my life. This new addition is about getting stronger. For me this is about being both mentally and physically stronger. This book is so inspirational from the testimonials to Jasinda sharing her personal moments it made me what to jump up and try all the new workout plans and recipes. I had fallen off the wagon and not been following the plan lately and this book has made me what to get back with it and add the stronger aspect as well. Who better to learn from than someone like Jasinda who has been there and succeeded and is willing to share her knowledge with us. I highly recommend these books to anyone interested in living a healthy life.
I love this book as much as I loved the first one. Jasinda makes this look so easy! Maybe it really is just mind over matter. I have not fully incorporated the Wilder Way into my life, but I am little by little. It's really important for me to get my family healthy, losing weight will be a bonus. Thank you so much Jasinda for sharing your journey, its been a blessing to so many!
I volunteered to read an ARC of BIG GIRLS DO IT STRONGER after living the #WilderWay since the first book BIG GIRLS DO IT RUNNING came out last May. I absolutely LOVED the information this new version of the program I love gave me! Grey Plate All Day... bring it on! From the tweaks to the eating plan, to the exercise routines suggested, I AM Ready for 2.0! The new recipes....oh my.... cannot wait to try these goodies! Jasinda (and hubby Jack) open themselves up once again and get real with us, the pages can be raw but so very inspirational! I am looking forward to seeing all the benefits I am POSITIVE I will gain from this book!
Jasinda Wilder has outlined her guide to Heath and fitness in a fun easy to follow guide. She humorously details her own experiences and selflessly lays out a plan that anyone can follow. There are terrific recipes and delicious treats to keep anyone in check and never leave you deprived. Read this book and it will be your bible for Heath. It is a quick and fun read but it will become your go to reference for a fabulous fit life!
I read her first book back in May, it was a game changer for me. Her words spoke to me. I started the 8 week challenge but stopped about 6 weeks in. I wasn't in the right head space at the time but I can say that the one thing I did give up back in May was pop. Haven't had a drop since and I have no regrets. I love me some Bai.
I had a very unhealthy relationship with sugar and Sonic, that sugary bitch, was my supplier. Man those peanut butter chocolate shakes are so damn delicious. So delicious that I had one almost every single day. Ugh, it turns my stomach thinking about it now. I finally broke up with sugar this past January. It was hard, it still sucks but I wouldn't change a thing from our horrible breakup. It was time. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was missing stuff because I was sick. Besides giving birth, it is possibly one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Seriously, it blows. Hard. I'd rather be sporked in both eyes and endure a billion paper cuts than stop eating sugar. But after completing the 8 week challenge, I am down 0ver 20lbs and 15 inches lost from my body. So it doesn't totally blow. Do I miss sugar? Uh, not as much as I did the first month but I may or may not cut a bitch for a small something. Okay, not really. I had 4800 boxes of Girl Scout cookies dropped in my driveway last month. It was so hard that first day, but to this day, I haven't had a single one. Again, it sucks but I honestly feel so much better with out the sugar. Who knew?! Jasinda knew, that's who.
I read this book last night. I went back through today to highlight some more. I love that she talks about her ongoing journey and her husband Jack contributes to it as well. I love that there are more recipes to try and Jack has this whole Movement challenge in the book. I can say that I really haven't exercised yet. I know, I know I should be walking but I'm not there yet. I really needed to get the food down first so I wouldn't give up after the first week. That's next on my list. This body is just not made to jump, jack or squat anything yet. It will one day. Baby steps. I did get the companion journal from the first book and I freaking wrote in that journal my whole 8 weeks. Wait, 7 weeks, I was super sick the last week so I didn't journal but still stuck with healthy options. I can honestly say I've never did that before. I'm a reader not a journal-er? I think it really helped me, I wrote everything down so I could look back at it as see how far I have come and give myself a pat on the back for doing it. Not going to lie, some days are harder than others. There are a couple of things that I don't like in the plan (food wise, I'm a texture girl and yogurt and sweet potatoes are just ew. Yucky!) but since this is my journey, I've tweaked some things and made it my own. I love that I can use these 2 books as a guide. To me that is so dang helpful.
One day I will feel amazing in my own skin and not a 5'11 Sasquatch. I kinda stick out in a room so I'm taking this shit nice and slow so I don't lose my way and I can say that I did it the healthy way, by eating really good food. I didn't take any pills, sip on shake replacements, count points or wear a patch. I'm not saying those are bad, those things are just not for me. I truly believe that if your mind is not in the game, you won't stick with anything. My mind is about 87.3% in, I just need to start moving more so I can be at 102.7%.
I'm going to meet Jasinda next month at a book signing. I probably won't be able to look or talk to her because I'll probably cry. I know I'm cold and dead inside and emotions are gross, but when someone changes your life, it's kind of a big deal. So fingers crossed I don't snot all over her!
Last May, a blogger that I have followed for years, and who I have great respect for (Brittany Gibbons, in case you're interested) posted a link to Jasinda's book, Big Girls do it Running. I had read a few of Jasinda's other books, and, while I liked them well enough, I wasn't crazy super fan girl, and I was dubious about taking health advice from someone who wasn't my doctor. But, I preordered, and when it came, I read the book. It made a scary amount of sense to me, and, even though I was scared, and afraid that it would be yet another failed attempt on my part to lose weight. I did what Jasinda asked for in the first book - I gave her 8 weeks. That was nearly a year ago, and the Wilder Way is working for me. I've lost 40 pounds. I can run a 5K (slowly, but dammit, I can do it!). I work out in some fashion nearly every day. My doctor took me off of my blood pressure medicine because mine had returned to normal. ALL of my lab values are completely normal. I am a nearly 42 year old woman who never, ever worked out until a year ago, and would get winded walking to the mailbox. So, when Jasinda said she was writing a new book - version 2.0 - I preordered that bad boy the second she sent the link. I just finished reading it. Again, it makes a scary amount of sense, and I will be adding this to what I'm already doing. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who is sick of yo-yo diets that don't work. The Wilder Way is not a diet - it's a way of life. Jasinda - and Jack!! - lay everything out very clearly. They say over and over again that this is YOUR diet, YOUR body, and you have to do what works for YOU. I've failed a few times, but I take this one meal at a time, and it WORKS. Big Girls do it Stronger is funny, easy to read, and so full of valuable information, resources, plans, and RECIPES!! I can't wait to get started. Please. Do yourself a favor. Read both books, then give them 8 weeks. Your body will thank you. Thank you, Jasinda and Jack!
Jasinda Wilder continues her inspiring story and her journey to better health for herself and her family in Big Girls Do It Stronger.
I have been following the Wilder Way since reading her first book, Big Girls Do It Running, back in December and have seen great improvements to my own health and fitness levels. Both books give practical insights into better eating habits and getting up off the couch and just moving. Ms. Wilder lays herself bare in both books, documenting her own struggles with her weight and some very scary health issues.
The book is witty and conversational and it made me feel as if I were having a conversation over lunch with a very dear friend. The exercise program is designed to be done in your own home with minimal equipment needed and the workouts are designed to take no more than thirty to forty minutes per day. There are step by step instructions, meal plans, recipes and a lot of encouragement.
I can’t say enough how inspiring, encouraging and brave Ms. Wilder is to share her journey to fitness with her readers. As she states more than once, this a marathon, not a sprint, take it one meal at a time, one workout at a time and one day at a time. Each day is a new chance to make better choices in what you put into your body and how you can make yourself stronger. This is definitely a healthy and fit lifestyle that I can follow.
Big Girls Do It Stronger is the sequel to Big Girls Do It Running by Jasinda Wilder. Come with her on the Wilder Way 2.0 and see what happens. This book contains the tools to a healthier and better lifestyle and I loved every page. There are recipts, examples for healthy nutrition, training suggestions and much much more helpful things. And last but not least Big Girls Do It Stronger has not only more practical advice and more examples, it also has anecdotes, beautiful, some hilarious, some sad, but all of them highly entertaining like only Jasinda Wilder can write. She lets the reader take a look into her life, a very personal look. I liked these look, very much. This book has everything what you´re gonna need to be healthier and well entertained.
Favorite Quotes: " Running is for humans who sport. And I don´t sport. " And: " Go on the #Wilder Way- Get your strong on. Any movement counts. " I highly recommend this book. I really really loved it and proudly give 5 Stars. Thank you Jasinda Wilder !!
A follow up to big girls do it running. I enjoyed the personal stories from Jasinda and Jack, the easy at home work out routines from beginner to advanced, all the recipes. This was a quick read, some pages I skimmed because if you read the first book and are in the group it was repetitive. This plan is hard, anything worth something is hard. I lived the wilder way last year through the 8 week plan and continued until week 20. I lost 11 lbs the first 7 weeks and nothing after that. I lost steam because of lack of weight loss and that being said I'm not a cook, I hate shopping for food and cooking. I like convenience and I feel like if I could have gotten my family on board and didn't need to make 2 of everything or if I made some of the suggested recipes I wouldn't have fallen off the plan. I can see the effect sugar has on myself and my family and I do try to limit our intake as much as possible and I thank Jasinda for opening my eyes to these things.
This is the continuation of Big Girls Do It Running. I highly recommend you reading that book first to get a better understanding of the program. This book focuses on more of the fitness part of it. It has great programs for everyone. It also makes revisions to the previous program. I love the revisions. It makes the plan a little easier, although it's very easy with the original way. I love the addition of more recipes too. Thanks Jasinda for helping us be healthier!
If you’re looking for a way to change your life, Big Girls Do It Running and Big Girls Do It Stronger are seriously your answer!
Jasinda, has taught me so much about my body. Things I had no CLUE about! Even though I struggle with my bum knee, Jasinda has taught me how to overcome my struggles. She always tells me to just take it one meal at a time! I may not be at my goal since starting with her in her BETA phase… but I do know what it takes to live a healthier lifestyle. And the best part about BGDIR and BGDIS is, Jasinsa isn’t afraid to share her own personal struggles with health and fitness, making her story even more relatable!
Thank you Jasinda for changing my life and my way of thinking when it comes to my health!
A fantastic continuation from Big Girls Do It Running.. I love how Jasinda lays out plans that are easy to follow and not intimidating. This really is a book about a lifestyle change..not just another quick gimmick.. the recipes sound delicious and I can't wait to try them out. I also love how the author lets you in on her ups and downs.. reminding us we all have the same struggles.. but we are all capable of overcoming them. I highly recommend this book!
Jasinda has done it again! I started her program when her first book came out and I've been participating in her FaceBook group and following along since. I've lost about 40 pounds, dropped a few sizes and I'm walking again. This book is full of more great tips and useful information along with some more great recipes. I highly recommend both books for anyone who wants to make some healthy changes but wants to ease into it slowly and steadily build on that progress. No magic pills or fancy formulas. Just some good, healthy advice from someone who has been there and done that.
This book, as well as BGDIR, contains the most straight forward, honest, and realist content that we all need from a health and wellness book. I have been doing this plan since May and have lost 30 lbs! Now with a second book about how to get stronger, I am excited and ready to get started! Also, hello new recipes!!!!
Who's ready to Do It Stronger?! If this crazy busy, full-time working, special needs momma can do the #WilderWay, so can you. I promise you won't regret it. Want to not only lose weight, but get healthier, stronger?! Just take the leap with Big Girls Do It Running first then follow up with Stronger. Wilder Way 2.0 or Stronger is what I think of this as. Kicking your strength into high gear and taking your health back! After struggling with my fertility issues for years, last year after starting my journey with BGDIR I received a scary diagnosis of PCOS. There is hope for those struggling and waiting that family! Don't give up on yourself and don't feel defeated. Jasinda has literally pulled the bull by the horns, doing the ground breaking hard part of this process. Take her hand and start your journey. Thank you Jasinda and Jack for your personal devotion in starting a revolution!
I just cannot say enough about Jasinda Wilder and her willingness to share so that we may all become healthier!! Big Girls Do It Stronger is a definite read once one has become nutritionally aware after reading Big Girls Do It Running!! Stronger now puts into action the act of accepting ones self and putting ones body into physical movement to now enjoy a Stronger body, mind, & soul!!
Great addition to Big Girls Do It Running! In this book Jasinda and Jack expand on the WilderWay. Great exercise motivator and the recipes are not bad either. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially if you are looking for a lifestyle change.
Jasinda Wilder is at it again with her Big Girls Do It Stronger. Sharing her Journey to health and fitness and getting stronger. If you have read her Big Girls Do it Running, then you need to read stronger also . With the encouragement from both her and her husband Jack (yes Jack has some key points in here too) we can all get fit and stronger the wilder way. Looking forward to continuing my journey now to getting stronger with the Wilder's .
Jasinda has yet again wrote a book that inspires everyone. I can't not wait to jump back on and be positive. Be healthy. And be free of the food and health demons I have!
Wow! The sequel to Big Girls Do It Running is amazing! So many ah ha moments as if Jasinda knows my deep inner thoughts. And funny too! Love all the new recipies. It's great all the suggestions for exercises to get the biggest bang for your time. It truly helps to understand the next steps in the journey to healthiness. Wonderful Read and So Inspiring. Must Read!
I had read Big Girls Do It Running, made some changes and started to notice my hard work paying off. I even ran a 5k. Holy crap...me, a 5k? Yup, that happened.
Then I fell off the wagon. So pissed at myself, but I bought Big Girls Do It Stronger to give me some motivation and get me back on track to a lifestyle I know works.
Very informative, and I love all the recipes in this book. This is a wonderful follow-up/companion to Big Girls Do It Running. There is quite a lot of useful information and I feel it will be easy to stick with it the way BGDIR is.
I am looking forward to trying some of the work-out suggestions and the recipes.
In Big Girls Do It Running, Jasinda helps to ease you off sugar and etc. with her 8 week challenge. I think it would be very beneficial for you to read Big Girls Do It Running before you dive into this book.
I will be honest! I did the 8 week challenge last summer and did pretty well until my vacation with my family. I fell off the wagon in a big way! Sugar and Diet Coke were my friend again! I found comfort with the junk that I have always loved.
I tried to do the 8 weeks again this past winter. I did okay but still wasn't following the plan 100%. I am currently in Jasinda's Facebook Group that she originated in May. I encourage you to join if you have read both books or even just the first book. She is quick to answer any questions you may have and is very active in that group. I am currently "lurking" in the shadows.
I know this plan works if you I put my best effort into it. I bought this book because I wanted more of her Wilder Way recipes and I wanted to learn more about weight lifting. The recipes are a fresh take on a "low carb" diet and I can't wait to try them out! I feel more encouraged now to try a kettle bell workout, lift weights and know that I am worth it!
Jasinda Wilder is a big cheerleader who is helping a lot of people reach their goals in life! I love her saying of "new meal, new choices". I use that a lot in my life! I encourage you to pick up both of her books if you are tired of feeling bad about yourself and want to make a change!
