Blair's life is turned upside down by supernatural thugs, scary threats, dangerous deadlines, a magical mystery object she has to track down, and a rather intriguing and handsome stranger...

Welcome to Glen Falls. A town where nothing is quite as it seems...

Beauty salon owner Blair Montgomery’s world is turned upside down when she suddenly receives a do-or-die deadline from the supernatural Mafioso. They’re demanding she hand over a powerful and magical object they’re convinced she’s inherited from her gran. Problem is, Blair has no idea what it even looks like!

Prepared to call on her own (rather unpredictable) magical abilities if that’s what it takes, she’s soon battling to figure out what the Mafioso are looking for. Can the gorgeous and intriguing new guy in town help her find some answers? Can she trust him or is he just pretending to be an ally? What dangerous secrets is she about to uncover in her quest to track down the mystery object before the deadline arrives and her time runs out? Well, absolutely anything’s possible, because in Glen Falls the usual rules don’t apply – as Blair’s about to discover...

Zanna Mackenzie lives in the UK with her husband, 3 dogs, a vegetable patch that’s home to far too many weeds and an ever expanding library of books waiting to be read.

Being a freelance writer and editor of business publications is her ‘day job’ but, at every opportunity, she can be found scribbling down notes on scenes for whatever novel she’s working on. She loves it when the characters in her novels take on minds of their own and start deviating from the original plot!

Formerly a travel agent and therapist (she has qualifications in clinical aromatherapy, crystal healing, naturopathic nutrition and herbalism) she loves walking the dogs and gardening – that’s when she’s not writing or reading!

Surprisingly it was such a good book and it certainly kept me occupied over the span of two days. I quite like supernatural stories. Witches, shapeshifters and vampires mixed with cosy mystery? Well, sign me up.

Blair is such an awesome character who is far by not a very good witch so to speak in terms of her powers, but over the course of the story I grew to like her. Cal, a mysterious person to begin with, is someone who gained my respect and trust in the end. There was a lot of twists and turns that kept me hanging off the edge of my seat.

I do hope there will be a third book in the series - preferably involving one of the half vampires brothers.

Okay, this was my first and only cozy mystery because they are obviously NOT written for adults, I’m not even sure this was written BY an adult.

When Blair wanted to swear she said “sugar” or “sugar with sprinkles.” When she was REALLY angry it was “sugar, sugar, sugar.” And sometimes it was “noodles.” Yeah, it would be better to say nothing at all than to say something as stupid as those words.

AND again I was trying to read something in the first person. I wish I could use my iPad to count all the time “I” was used. I was right when I said a female author uses the word “I” a lot more than a male author does so I’ll stick to a male author in my first-person books.

This was about the mafia wanting a magic something-or-other from Blair and she had a few days to get it until they came after her AND she didn’t even know what they wanted. It was silly, really.

So, I’m definitely done with this author. She writes stories for kids in grade school. And that’s fine for the kids, or grown-ups that like kids’ books, but it’s not for me. Sorry..

Magic, Witches and a mysterious magical object that others will kill for! This tale takes place in Scotland where all sorts of magical events and items occur and witches and other magical beings are monitored by a variety of councils. A young witch inherits her grandmothers house and her grandmother was a powerful witch. In a world with magical items and the good and the bad are fighting to get control of these items Blair the granddaughter is caught in the middle and she is just learning how to deal with her own magic and run a beauty shop at the same time. Enter several males some threatening her and a few saying they want to protect her from those threatening her! Good luck trying to figure out the good guys from the bad!

An Intriguing Read

Blair is a sympathetic character. She is scattered in her use of magic. The mafia threaten her wanting an item she knows nothing about. Cal the handsome hunk wants to to help and protect her except his actions are mysterious. She is suspicious as to his motives and doesn't know if he is on her side or that of the Mafia. There are many twists and turns leading to the resolution of the situation. I look forward to another book.

Not bad

Outside of a few open points at the end, this wasn't bad. Blair did a fair job trying to track down the object, and her confusion over whether or not to trust Cal was spot on, but at the same time, her reactions to some situations were off. I also did not get why Cal didn't just tell her the deal from the beginning. His actions were a little extreme too. Once they found the cup, why just run off with it? Anyhow, it was a quick read but admittedly, not overly complex.

Wow Zanna

I am loving Zanna's work. Finding you was even better than the last one I read which was gggggrrrrreat. This was a real page turner and kept me guessing all the way through. Is it? Isn't it? You will just have to read and find out for yourself it's well worth a read but be warned you won't be able to put it down.

Witches, vampires, bad and good guys

This was the second book in this short series and the read was fast and entertaining, although complete fantasy. Likable characters, fun and mischief.

A fun read!

I enjoy reading books by Zanna Mackenzie. In this series the big difference is the magic she added. An easy read to finish in one sitting.

Great diversion

A interesting journey through Scottish folklore spiked with an evil witch, a power hungry vampire, and of course the love interest. The only thing I didn't like was the sudden end with multiple baddies and no clues in the body that the two main villains were involved.

Cute addition to the Glen Falls series

This one is a little zany and is all over the place. It still manages to be a quick fun read.
