Good one. 50% on Grammer 50% on Words
I liked this book for three things
1) It explained many grammar concepts very briefly and concisely
2) It explained many words usages
3) There are many references to words from Kambaramayanam and other Tamil books such as Thiruvasagam etc. Hence, this book kindled my interest on reading those books.

At the same time, I really wished the book focused much more on the Vali Migum and Vali Migaa places because that is where most of spelling mistakes happen (for me and many others). Approximately in Chapter 17 they discuss about it and in beginning chapters of part 2. I expected part 2 would discuss about it in detail. But part discussed mostly on words. Casual writers won't need it necessarily. Serious writers (born in Tamil Nadu) would be mostly familiar with how to write the subject, verbs adjectives etc. But the main issues comes in the Vali Migum and Vali Migga places. I hoped that all rules related to this have been drilled down and simplified into one chapter rather than at multiple places sporadically.

This book is good. But it could have been great had it include some practice exercises. For. e.g, in Vali Migum and Vali Migga cases, there could have been some 10 paragraphs (with 200 words) given for which one has to correct (Moippu velai) all the sandhi's etc. This would have been in multiple phases a) fill in the blanks 2)strike the characters 3) then combine both. Make the readers do the job of a proof-reader. And then explain the answers. This would have been an ideal exercise. Integrated learning.

நல்லதொரு நூல் வாசித்த மகிழிச்சியில் இதை எழுதுகின்றேன். வாசிக்கையில், பள்ளியில் கற்ற பல பாடங்களை நினைவூட்டுகிறார் சொக்கன்.

"என்குது", "காந்தன்", "கண்ணாட்டி", "சந்நதம்" என பல பழைய, புதிய சொற்களுக்கு
அவருடைய நடையில் விளக்கங்கள் தருகிறார். "ஆறத் தழுவுதல்", "ஆரத் தழுவுதல்". இரண்டில் எது சரி? ஆறத் தழுவுதல்- தலைவியைப் பிரிந்ததால் மனதில் உண்டான காயங்கள் ஆறத் தழுவினனான். ஆரத் தழுவுதல் - மனமுவந்து அல்லது மனதாரத் தழுவுதல்.

ஐந்து எவ்வாறு அஞ்சு ஆனதென்று தெரியுமா? தெளிவாக விளக்குகிறார் ஆசிரியர். "மெல்லினங்கள் பாடு கண்ணே, வல்லினங்கள் வாய் வலிக்கும்" என்ற சினிமா பாடலின் அர்த்தம் புரிகின்றது இப்பொழுது.

பிழையின்றி தமிழ் எழுத, பேச விழைவோருக்கு இந்நூல் ஒரு நல்ல துணைவன். நன்றி சொக்கன் அவர்களே.

This book is simple, takes off all the fear about grammer. Connecting it through daily activities are awesome idea.
Highly recommended for beginners.
