Drakon’s Prey is book two in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. Wow, what a fantastic second book this is! I mentioned in the review for the first book that I didn’t feel the chemistry as much as I wanted to between Darius and Sarah. Well, that was most definitely not a problem with this one! These two were hotter than hot and I loved watching them fall for one another.
Valeriya Azarov is the younger sister of Karina Azarov who is the leader of the Knights of the Dragon, an organization intent on capturing Drakons. If a human drinks the blood of a Drakon, it will keep them young indefinitely and heal any and all sickness or injury. The Knights want power and seek the blood of the Drakons to achieve it. The only Drakon they know of is Darius Varkas and they have been using every resource to search for him. Valeriya was always the quiet child. She wanted no part of the atrocities she felt the Knights were committing. She became an author of children’s books with her main character being a mythical dragon.
Valeriya feels like she has stood on the sidelines long enough. If she could do just one good thing against the Knights, she would be happy. She wants to warn Darius Varkas that the Knights are searching for him. In her sister’s office, she found the address of an old cabin in the woods. She knows this cabin is somehow tied to Darius so she decided to travel there and see if it might lead her to him. Little did she know that the cabin sits on top of the underground residence of Darius’s younger brother, Tarrant.
Tarrant Cooper is one of four Drakon brothers. He has lived over four thousand years. Tarrant has amassed a fortune and runs it all by computer in his underground lair. Drakons are solitary by nature. Tarrant has security cameras and sensors all throughout the woods to alert him to any intruders. He saw Valeriya coming long before she spotted the cabin. He didn’t know what she wanted or if she was a danger to him. But the beast within him instantly let it be known that he wanted her. He would watch her for awhile to see what she was up to. His beast wanted her, though, and his human side wanted answers. The only way to get those was to take her.

What started as a captor, captive relationship, quickly changed. Tarrant didn’t trust easily but found it increasingly hard to believe that this woman meant him or his brothers any harm. Little by little he lets down his guard. At the same time, Valeriya falls for her captor long before she knew he was anything but human.

As these two give in to the chemistry between them, and believe me, it is some intense chemistry, danger is lurking. Valeriya’s sister isn’t taking her disappearance well. Danger once again comes to the cabin. But this time, Tarrant is not just defending himself or his underground lair. He is protecting this woman who has become everything to him. He is defending his woman.
This book was amazing. The sexy times were sizzling hot, but there were such sweet times as well. And let me tell you, sweet little Valeriya is one tough woman. She proves herself time and time again to Tarrant even though she puts herself at great risk. I loved watching them fall for each other but there was plenty of suspense as well. The Knights aren’t giving up but neither are the Drakons. If the Knights want a war, they’ll give them one. And the Knights will never see them coming.

I just love me some dragons.
Another great additional to this wonderful series. I’m so happy I found this series. I’ve read two other books by this author and she knows how to write paranormal romance. With Ms. Walters you get sucked into the story even if you don’t want to but believe me you will. There is a great blend of paranormal with suspense and the world that has been built and the Drakons.
Drakons are half dragon and human sired by male dragons with human mothers. They are hunted down for their blood by the Knights of the Dragon and have shied away from humans to protect themselves they prefer solitude anyway. But the time has come to go on the defence and not the offense.
I loved Tarrant and Valeriya together. They have chemistry and banter with delectable steamy scenes thrown in. Although they get off to a rocky start as Valeriya’s family business is to hunt Drakons down for a living to get their blood to heal sickness and prolong life. They overcome it all and have their happily for now.
Whereas we got a peek at the end of the epilogue in the book who would be next we unfortunately aren’t so lucky here. I hope it is Ezra the water dragon. The most anti-social bunch of the brothers. I can’t wait to continue with this engaging, fabulous and humorous series.

4 Stars - 3 Flames
WOW!!! I just KNEW that the brother(s) would come through for me in this series and I can honestly say THANK GOODNESS!!!!! Sigh...let's just get lost looking at the cover for a second though.......sigh...
Valeriya is the younger sister of the leader of the Knights. Yep, those Knights. The ones that are out to get the Drakons blood, literally. There's a problem though. Valeriya doesn't really agree with the Knights and what they're after. She goes searching for Darius (read the first book) to warn him of the Knights' plans, but stumbled upon something so much more. And she pays the price too. Because now she's being held captive for being nosy.
Tarrant is the brother of Darius. Well, one of them. He is mysterious, successful and hot. Did I mention hot? Holy Drakon!!! Because of his business, he has cameras everywhere and notices Valeriya coming a mile away. And boy of boy, his non-human side has taken notice. But why the heck is she there? He's about to find out. The old fashion way. Yep. He kidnaps her. But things quickly shift when the chemistry between them becomes too hot to handle.
Talk about hot and steamy. This book does NOT disappoint. The chemistry between these two just about knocked me senseless. And when Valeriya's sister brings crazy to the cabin, the animal in Tarrant takes over and it's one hell of a ride. I absolutely liked this installment more than the first. I found that the story and chemistry between these two pulled me in more. And you can't really go wrong when there are Drakon's....right?

Another great addition to the series. NJ Walters knows how to hit it out of the park.
Tarrant was sexy as hell. I liked him. He too like his brother in the first book was easy to like and you didn't have to hate him then learn to like him. He was true to life that he would be cautious with Valeriya then decide about her. When he did decide he was wonderful to her and treated her like a princess.
I like Valeriya. She had a terrible childhood and for her own sister to want her dead, that just stinks! I loved that she was an author and made stories about dragons! She had a soft heart but was strong and loyal like no ones business!
Great story and I can't wait for the rest of the brothers' stories. Ezra and Nic!!

4.5 - "I'm keeping you." Stars!
The second book in N. J. Walters Blood of the Drakon series brings us Tech-Wizard; Tarrant Cooper’s story. He featured pretty heavily in the first book so it was good to see deeper into this Drakons psyche.
I really enjoyed this story, considering about 90% of it plays out in an underground bunker, it surprised me as to how well the author pulled me in.
He was half human, half dragon, too. But he was all drakon…
I think a lot of it was because the chemistry between Valeriya and Tarrant was combustible from the get-go, and I loved the dynamic between them considering both their backgrounds and families put them on opposite sides of the fence, with trust being a very limited commodity for most of the story.
His dragon coveted her… The man wanted her.
My only gripe and it is a small one is that although the relationship between Tarrant and Valeriya went off at a steady clip, the bigger story involving the Knights of the Dragon didn’t really move along at all, you are given multiple POV’s in this one which helped keep all of the players active in the story, and a few more of the villains were knocked off the list, but there was very little in the way of revelations, or development in that area of the plot in Drakon’s Prey.
She was dangerous to him. Made him weak. She also completed him and made him invincible.
I loved the inclusions from Ezra and Nicodemus, and it was great to be kept up to date with Darius and Sarah, I can only hope that everything moves along a bit more in the next book. I cannot find any information as to who the book will focus on or when it is likely to be released, but I hope once again that Entangled Publishing and the author decide that sooner is better than later to keep the series momentum moving along.

4 ~ Grumpy-pants Tarrant and his Valeriya ~ Stars!
I loved this one, it wasn’t as fast paced as book one and I connected to both Tarrant and Valeriya a lot quicker than I did with Darius and Sarah. There was something so instinctive about their bond that really stood out for me. Maybe it was because they both fought how easy it was to care for a perfect stranger? Or the fact that they were so different for one another but still understood each others needs so perfectly? I think it really helped that these two stayed in one spot for the majority of the story. There was time for them to talk, get to know each other and open up without the constant adrenaline rush of being chased and running for your life every few hours. Also there was humor and light-hearted moments that livened up the story every once in a while. This story felt a lot more fleshed out in the romance department and made it that much more awesome.
The Knights of Dragon are still very much in play and Valeriya being the sister of the head of this psycho group put a nice spin on the story. Again I highly recommend you read them in order, they don’t give too much detail about what happens in book one but I think it would be way more enjoyable if you read the story from the start. It still ends with the fate of the war between the Drakons and the Knights still up in the air, so a cliffhanger of sorts but not unbearable.
All I know it that this book fed my new Drakon obsession and I’m about dying to read Ezra and Nic’s stories next. The fact that there are hints of other drakons around makes me hope this will not be a short siblings-only series and that maybe we’ll get to meet more of these solitary men and the women they give their hearts to.

Epilogue: Yes, but it’s only a few weeks after the final chapter – a cute family reunion. Since the main plot is still ongoing I don’t see any long epilogues happening unless we get them at the very end?

I LOVE dragons and can’t get enough. This was a fantastic addition to the series.
Drakon’s Prey has plenty of danger, suspense, and smoking hot romance plus sexy dragon brothers. I loved Tarrant! He was just so amazing and sweet. Valeriya I adored her. She had a horrible childhood, but she found away to distance herself from the family business. I loved that she is an artist and an author. Such a sweet heart, but still strong and loyal. The chemistry between Valeriya and Tarrant was hot and steamy. I loved watching them fall for each other.
As for the Knights, they won’t give up, but neither will the Drakons. War is inevitable and the Knights won’t see them coming.
I’m in love and can’t wait for the next installment. If you are a fan of dragons then I highly recommend this series.

With action, intrigue, and danger around every corner, there was a lot to like about Drakon’s Prey. Sadly, this series still isn’t grabbing me like I really, really hoped it would. To get the full picture, I’d read the first book before diving into this one since there is an ongoing story arc connecting each book in the series.
Valeriya (who I called V in my head because that name just sounds like something contagious to me), was super sweet and meant well but OMG was she naïve. To make things worse she kept acting without thinking first. As the somewhat estranged sister of the head of the knights this seemed like a quick way to get dead, no matter who she’s related too.
Tarrant was exactly as expected: gruff, grouchy, and a bit of a nerd (which always appeals to me). A victim of insta-lust Drakon style, he hesitated and didn’t go all-in until he was sure of her intentions. What I didn’t understand was his decision to stay at the cabin once it had been compromised for a second time. At the very least he should have foreseen what would happen and made allowances.
The knights are super evil but they didn’t seem all that smart, especially considering all the infighting. I find myself wondering why the Drakon’s are having such a hard time getting rid of them. They are rich and well-connected enough to squash them like roaches they are.
Drakon’s Prey was interesting and a decent read but I’m not quite sold on this series. Even with my love of most of NJ Walter’s books, I’m torn as to whether or not I’ll continue on with the Blood of the Drakon series.

I loved Tarrant! DRAKON'S PREY is the second book in N.J. Walters new paranormal series, Blood of the Drakon. I love dragons and if you're a dragon fan I highly recommend this series! DRAKON'S PREY had plenty of danger and smoking hot romance plus it features a sexy dragon who's a computer genius and a heroine readers can cheer for. N. J. Walter's new world of dragons and knights, set in present day, gives readers a new and unique paranormal world to get swept up in. I'm loving this series and I can't wait for the next book!

I loved Tarrant! DRAKON'S PREY is the second book in N.J. Walters new paranormal series, Blood of the Drakon. I love dragons and if you're a dragon fan I highly recommend this series! DRAKON'S PREY had plenty of danger and smoking hot romance plus it features a sexy dragon who's a computer genius and a heroine readers can cheer for. N. J. Walter's new world of dragons and knights, set in present day, gives readers a new and unique paranormal world to get swept up in. I'm loving this series and I can't wait for the next book!

I so enjoyed the second book, Drakon’s Prey in NJ Walters’ Blood of the Drakon series. In Drakon’s Prey, we meet Valeriya Azarov. Valeriya is the head of the Knights of the Dragons sister. Valeriya is opposed to the mission of the secret society and takes it upon herself to try to save at least one of the Drakon’s. This effort, of course, makes her a traitor and a target for the Knights.
Tarrant Cooper has lived alone for thousands of years. He’s survived so long by listening to his gut and his natural suspicious nature—plus a shit ton of electronic surveillance, hacking, and such. When Valeriya moves into the cabin above his secret lair, Tarrant is intrigued and cautious… especially once he is in her presence… he realizes she’s his mate, but she’s also a pawn in a dangerous game. Can Tarrant protect his heart and his mate and keep himself and his Drakon “brothers” safe?
Oooh, I so love to immerse myself into a well written paranormal book. Delving into the world created by the words. Add in some sexy romantic suspense and don’t even attempt to interrupt me until I’m finished reading! I really enjoyed the romance between Tarrant and Valeriya. Their instant attraction and connection was palpable. I found myself rooting for the two of them to best the Knights at their game and I can’t wait to see what happens next! ~ Missy, 4 stars

J’ai trouvé que l’histoire ne décollait jamais vraiment. Certains détails m’ont semblé exagérés, comme le fait qu’il y ait une pièce souterraine assez grande pour que le dragon puisse voler à son aise, ou le fait que les parents de l’héroïne n’aient jamais cherché à la forcer à intégrer la société, juste parce qu’elle était gentille. Il y a aussi pas mal de répétitions dans les pensées de chacun, c’est lassant au bout d’un moment.

Drakon’s Prey picks up the story of the Blood of the Drakon series with Tarrant’s story. The sparks fly between Tarrant and Valeriya almost immediately, even if she’s unaware that he’s been watching her on camera since she first neared his woods. The man is suspicious, especially considering who her sister is – but the drakon, well that’dragon’s heart is already captured and he knows this woman belong with them. Valeriya has never believed in what her family does and this is her one chance to help the drakon remain free from captivity. Yet it’s she who becomes at least a temporary captive when Tarrant finally swoops in and kidnaps Valeriya from the cabin above his lair where she’s hoping to find his brother – for the safety of his brothers of course, nothing to do with what his instincts are telling him about her.
I completely enjoyed Drakon’s Prey. It’s full of intrigue, danger, an ancient war and certainly a sexy couple. If you love Shifters, Paranormal Romance then this is a story and a series that you should be following. I’ve loved N.J. Walters’ wolves, I’m loving her dragons just as much. Definitely would recommend this one for all Paranormal Romance readers. I’m now on pins and needles waiting for the next story. I was captured once again, and I loved it.

I didn’t finish book one of this series because I wasn’t a fan of the main characters. However, I was curious about the siblings and decided to give this book a whirl and Yay! Sexy times, crazy relatives, villains, and explosions...Tarrant and Valeriya’s story was a lot of fun!

More Dragonssss!!! This one picks from where we left in the last book with our protagonist going to find a Drakon (dragon shifter) to warn him about her sisters plan. This is kind of a hate to love story (mostly just on the heroes end). Let’s down to business…
Valeriya Azarov is an children’s books illustrator and has nothing to do with being a knight or her sister and her family’s business in capturing and torturing Darkons. Instead Valeriya even as a child imagined dragons as playmates rather than creatures that were to be hunted for their blood. Her books include dragons that are beloved by the children that read them. Valeriya goes to find the drakon her sister is intent on capturing, no more sitting on the side lines.
Tarrant Cooper is a wind dragon and has little love for knights especially one whose sister is the head of the operation. After losing one of his human friends in the last book due to the actions of the knights, Tarrant is angry and seeing Valeriya he decides to gain information from her to destroy the knights.
Tarrant is drawn to Valeriya from the moment he sees her, as is Valeriya fascinated by him. Tarrant is hesitant to trust her all the while he can’t help be attracted to her and his instincts tell him that she is innocent. I really liked them together, Valeriya was sweet and just a lovely character and Tarrant was quite protective of her which I really liked. They had chemistry right of the bat and we see them slowly falling in love. They were adorable!
This one also has a more threatening presence of the knights and we get see a bit more of the politics of their organization which increased the action factor of the book.
Quibbles: I do wish that Tarrant hadn’t so much done so much stalking of Valeriya through the cameras, it just felt weird.
Overall, I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait for more. It just keeps on getting better and better. Wonder which brother we will get next, the extremely social one or the quite one??

Second books in paranormal series can be difficult. The first book often has all of this interesting world-building and the introduction of the "big bad" to make it exciting. That was certainly the case with this series. I loved the first book, and I feel that it is absolutely necessary to enjoying this one at all. I'll explain:
The Story-
Picking up where we left off in book 1, Valeriya, the sister of the big bad, has pocketed a secret address to the hideaway of a drakon (dragon-shifter). She heads there, of course being tracked by sis's men, then gets kidnapped/stowed away by Tarrant, a drakon we met in the first book. He keeps her. They have insta-sex. Bad guys try to find her.
My Thoughts-
If I didn't love this author's characters and world so much, this one would have been difficult to get through. But, I do want to know what happens to the drakons and how they will eventually defeat the bad guys. My biggest issue was that the plot didn't feel like it moved forward overall. It felt more like a chess move: Valeriya to the drakon's side of the board. The sex was hot, and Tarrant is a true Alpha-male that keeps it interesting. But, nothing happens! It's like a snowed-in trope without the witty banter and self-revealing that usually comes before the sex and love.
The Bottom Line:
I will read the third book in this series and hope that the action picks back up. If you read the first book, this is a natural progression, and you will probably enjoy it enough to give it a read to continue the series. If you want to read a "stuck-together so they have sex and fall in love" book with heat, this one will also fit that bill. 3 stars

This one was another kind. The timeframe of it was short but many characters were involved so it got way more possibilities than I could ever expect.
The interaction, the romance was very good, and all thanks to Darius, not his story anymore but not forgotten. And also, this one book gave a bit more information about the drakon.

I enjoyed DRAKON'S PREY just as much as I enjoyed DRAKON'S PROMISE. If you didn't read book one, make sure to read it before jumping in, you won't want to miss the backstory.
The Knights are after a Drakon and the sister of their leader has set out to warn him. DRAKON'S PREY starts off right were book one left off. Sarah and Darius are safe with another brother and Tarrant is in his home when a woman starts sniffing around the cabin and eventually ends up moving in.
I absolutely love watching an alpha male get wrapped around a woman's finger, especially when they don't see it while it's happening and don't care when they realize it happened. The connection between Tarrant and Valeriya is pretty much instant, but both of course fight it a little before they fall into bed with each other. Even after jumping into bed they don't trust each other, but feel very protective of the other. It was entertaining watching them try to hold themselves back and frustrating when their lack of communication caused hurt feelings.
Not a whole bunch happened with moving along the Knights of the Dragon storyline, but I didn't much notice with all the hot romance going on. I'm ready to meet another brother and watch him fall in love with his perfect match. I also want to see the Knights go down, so bring on book three!

I recklessly dived into reading (listening) Drakon's Prey thinking that every book in the series could be a stand-alone but boy, was I wrong. It became glaringly clear that the book picked off from where Book #1 ended in the very first chapter. I brushed it off and continued on.
Valeriya was very intriguing, if I were in her place, I wouldn't do half the things she did. She was kind and brave yes, but she was way too reckless too. She had no plans and did stuff which Tarrant told her not to do. But in the end it all worked out, so it's okay I guess.
Tarrant on the other hand was a computer geek and seemed pretty gruff. He initially withheld from acting on his insta-lust for Valeriya when he first spots her walking towards his cabin. And as the story proceeds, they start to trust each other after making sure that they both have the same goal. To stop the Knights. There's cameo from Sarah and Darius, the couple from previous book, I believe, as well as Ezra, another brother from their trio.
Although the story was well written, and I do like my dragon-shifter romances, this wasn't for me. I like my dragon romances in different world setting, not contemporary. Hence the reason I gave it 3 stars.

THUD *hits the floor in a faint* Drakon's Prey continues on with all the beauty and wonder that Book 1 brought to the table.
Drakon’s Pray is Book 2 of the Blood of the Drakon Series by N.J. Walters and is absolutely breathtaking with the author’s wonderful crafting of her story. This was one rollercoaster of a ride that I didn’t want to end. Such vividness and detail, the storyline comes to life and is fully enhanced by the sexy alpha males and their sassy counterparts. Ms. Walters is a master of PNR...pure perfection!

I'm really upset because the second book of this series failed to win me over. I feel like the book is 90% sex scenes and the plot never really took off, so I got bored really quick. I couldn't really appreciate the sex scenes either and ended up skipping almost all of them just to get to the plot-- it got tedious very quickly. Disappointing.

If you haven't read the first book - I would strongly urge you to do so - this is one of those series you don't want to miss a moment of.
Tarrant and Valeriya had explosive chemistry; it was intense yet consuming. These two complemented each other really well.
There were lots of touch and go moments which captured Tarrant's emotions powerfully yet beautifully.
Danger lurks on every corner but the Drakons are determined to protect their kind and their loved ones. Two Drakons have found a rare yet beautiful treasure - a woman to love. Will the two remaining brothers be just as lucky?

I've been reading N.J. Walters since I stumbled upon her Legacy Series a few years ago. When she started writing about Dragons I knew it was something I was really going to enjoy and I was so right! This is book 2 in her Dracon series and I'm absolutely hooked. Her characters suck you in and keep you turning pages. She builds the suspense and gets you invested in the story. My minds eye can see a Dracon and the image of the dragon himself is stunning! Plus I love the fact that the lady in this story is not a stick figure but a robust full figured girl. She is spunky and real and has flaws and fears but she stands up for what she believes in and tries to be true to herself and face whats thrown at her head on. If you are a lover of a romantic paranormal story then this series is for you! Bring on Ezra, I can't wait for his story next!

A beautiful woman, gentle and sweet, risking everything to save a man she doesn’t know, and has never met. So. Amazing. This book captivated me from beginning to end. From the “5 stars of hotness” cover, to the intriguing synopsis that hooks you and drags you in. The character development was in depth, and thorough. Each character created with their own personality, soul, and heart. The plot and storyline are unique, fascinating, and fabulously executed. Topping it off, is Ms. Walter’s obvious writing talent, killer imagination, and easy flow. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

From the “5 stars of hotness” cover, to the intriguing synopsis that hooks you and drags you in. The character development was in depth, and thorough. Each character created with their own personality, soul, and heart. The plot and storyline are unique, fascinating, and fabulously executed. Topping it off, is Ms. Walter’s obvious writing talent, killer imagination, and easy flow. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Valeriya Azarov's family always found her to be a big disappointment as she was not willing to involve herself to their world. She would rather write and illustrate children' books than deal with the Knights of the Dragons. This secret society, headed by her sister, is working toward enslaving dragons. She has no idea that a moment of rebellion would make her a DRAKON'S PREY.
Things change when she is threatened by her sister who says she will no longer tolerate Valeriya's childishness and bring her into the society where she belongs. Before that can happen, Valeriya finds an opportunity to at least warn the next victim of these insane attacks and finds herself in a cabin, hoping to come face to face with Darius Varkas, warn him then and she can go home with a clear conscious.
Tarrant Cooper, a drakon, is living in the underground lair that sets just below that cabin and he is highly suspicious of the Azarov woman who has come into his world. Suspicious and very interested in the quiet beauty who takes up residence in the cabin. He will do anything to protect his “brothers” and fellow drakon's, and despite his interest he must find out what she knows about the Knights.
DRAKON'S PREY is absolutely amazing! I love this series and Tarrant Cooper, Darius Varkas' (from Drakon's Promise) brother and his banks of security computers/cameras is the perfect setup to watch out for all drakon's. Valeriya is a sweetheart, who just wants to draw her dragon's and write her stories. She took a chance to warn the man who had caught the eye of the Knights and that led her to Tarrant. Lucky girl. There is a lot of action, interesting dialogue and of course the romantic moments are off the charts.
Author N.J. Walters gives her readers a new look at dragons in her “Blood of the Drakon's” series and it is filled with everything paranormal and romance readers want and more. DRAKON'S PREY has sexy dragon shifters (I will leave the explanation of Dragon vs. Drakon to the book), a heroine who is gutsy and determined, sweet and steamy romance, and love (though the men would probably deny it) that includes family ... what more could you ask for? Maybe a couple more books by this author.

Karina is the leader of the Knights Of dragons - a human organization that captures Drakons, If a human drinks the blood of s drskon it helps them to stay young and heal any illnesses or injuries. The only Drakon known of at this time is Darius and the Knights were using all the resources available to them to find him. A Drakon had a human mother and a dragon shifter father, Valeriya is Karina’s sister but she had been raised mainly by kindly grandparents and wanted nothing to do with The Knights of Dragons. Valeriya writes and illustrates children’s books with the main character is a magical dragon. Valeriya feels if she could do one good thing against the Knights she would be happy. Valeriya wants to warn Darius that the Knights were looking for him. Valeriya goes in her sister Karina’s office and gets an address to a cabin in the woods. Valeriya goes there but what she doesn't know is that beneath the cabin Darius’s younger brother Torrent has his underground lair. Torrent has lived over four thousand years. Torrent has high security above ground and he seen Valeriya long before she came to the cabin. Torrent didn’t know if she was a danger or what she wanted. Torrent has made a fortune and runs it but computers. Drakons are solitary by nature. His beast wants the women and his human side wants answers. The only way to get answers was to take Valeriya and kidnap her so Torrent can question her. Torrent didn’t trust easy but he didn’t believe that this woman meant him or his brothers any harm. Then Torrent slowly let his guard down and Valeriya was falling for Torrent. But Karina was not taking Valeriya disappearance lightly.
I liked this book. I do wish there had been more action. I do advise you to read the first book in this series first as it helps you to pull everything together. I love Torrent and Valeriya together. I didn’t really care for Karina and felt she would sacrifice her sister if she had to if it helped the knights. Drakon's Prey is book two in N.J. Walter's Blood of the Drakon series. In it we get to story of Tarrant - brother of Darius and another Drakon and Valeriya, sister to the Knights of the Dragon leader.
Valeriya hasn't wanted a thing to do with the Knights of the Dragon or the things it does, but that doesn't mean she doesn't know things. When she's got an opportunity to hopefully help the Drakon's she takes the chance.
Tarrant is concerned when a woman, followed by two men from the Knights of the Dragon, arrives at the cabin above his secret lair, he's drawn to her but he's also uncertain of her intentions. When he discovers that she seems to not be involved with the men trailing her - he feels compelled to protect her, so he puts a plan into motion.
The connection between Tarrant and Valeriya is palpable from the start of the book. Though there is a bit of a trust issue - as in they aren't sure of the other's motives at first there isn't a hint of worry about the danger of each other. As they learn more about each other, the connection between them deepens and their chemistry sizzles.
I loved Valeriya and her goodness. She was truly concerned about the Drakon's, and wanted to do anything to save at least one of them if she good, even if it meant putting herself in danger. Her heart is pure and good, and though she loves her sister in a familial way - she detests the woman she is and the things she does. Tarrant was an interesting character - strong and smart, but also willing to rely on his instincts about people and act on the impulse to protect even when he didn't fully understand or know Valeriya.
Drakon's Prey dug us deeper into the world of the Knights and the Drakon while giving us another romance in the midst of it. With nods to the danger surrounding both the Drakon and anyone who may post a threat to the Knights, the story kept me hooked. The chemistry between Tarrant and Valeriya brought to life a relationship that felt real and fated in ways.
I look forward to reading more books in this series and exploring the ways of the Drakon further
