Jamie Davis’ The Paramedic's Nemesis (Extreme Medical Services Book 6) Shows that this is an author who knows how to produce perfectly wonderful product on a consistent basis. It is yet another fantastic continuation of a wonderful series and easily worth five stars. Ad I’ve noted before, I love the whole concept of a paramedic who takes care of hidden supernatural creatures in his city is wonderfully original. Banding together the paramedics of Station U and the leaders of the “Unusual” community to and find the source of the infestation of mindless undead minions? All in a days work for lead character Dean Flynn, his demon-hunter girlfriend and their gang. Adding in the subplot of Dean's ex-partner is struggling with her recent change into a vampire is sweetener on top of this yummy concoction. Yet again the author has created a book that provides just what I want, is well written, with excellent world building and a great plot full of magic and adventure(in addition, of course, to a lead and cast of supporting characters are perfectly crafted). But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, with the caveat that while you could read this standalone you’re much better starting off from book 1 of the series.
Bottom line: this book is easy to highly recommend.
Wrapping up the second very well priced boxset of this series, we get a story that is supposed to be vampire Brynne's chance to come to grips with her thirst for blood and to return to active duty without harming anyone.
And while her chapters are quite fun to read, she is ultimately not the main focus of the story: Dean and Jaz are.
Dean and Jaz are starting to be friendlier with each other while not yet an official couple, and things might be hitting off when a series of initially unrelated zombification of recently deceased people and murders of innocents by vampires has to bring the couple together and team up once again with James and Rudy.
The story in itself is not bad, Dean starts to discover he has latent special abilities and Brynne appears in a few chapters. I would have preferred if the book synopsis had lowered the statement this is a book centering around Brynne when she is only a secondary character and not the protangonist per se.
action packed paranormal urban fantasy mystery series
This is an action packed urban fantasy paranormal mystery series. A great cast of characters and a unique and entertaining storyline. Dean Flann is a paramedic who also happens to be basically half angel even though he does not know it. His father unbeknown to him is Gabriel The trumpet blower for the apocalypse. His current girlfriend is a paranormal hunter and owner of an elite security firm. A paramedic station that deals strictly with paranormal beings in creatures. He’s best friends with another paramedic who is his trainer who also happens to be a vampire and is dating the lead vampire of the region.there is an ancient vampire running around trying to cause problems for all of them. This series has an amazing story line and is very captivating. My only critique is that the whole series should have gone through editing again. There were a lot of grammatical errors and typos that were hard to get past. I have a hard time reading any publication and not finding those, though. I have recommended this series to anyone who will listen to me and will just warn my fellow grammar nazis to try and look past the errors to the story beneath. I hope Jamie Davis writes more books about the Extreme Medical Services. I'd really like to see what else will happen to Dean and his crew. Also, my husband would like to see these books turned into movies. 😋
I fair but shouted for joy with this one. Frustrated at the return of one character, overjoyed at the development of the relationship between Dean and Jaz but most of all great to see Byrne back around and taking a far bigger part in the story. The dynamics have changed so much but at the same time the bigger picture is coming into play. It was sad to see that even in fear the old prejudices and reactive measures come out in force. I am so happy to see Dean building on the basis he got from the last book. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Stop with the big teasers already!
STICK with iT. The SERIEs starts a little slow ..the author loves medical lingo which I love but others may take a bit to get into. Im not going to lie by the end of the First book I was on the fence about continuing the series. I started BOOK 2 of the Series ..first half started still very slow but by the end of 2nd Book the storyline started getting good..the books just got better and better as the series add another book. I will give the Whole SERIEs a solid 3.9🌟. 😍.
This is the first one in the series that I didn't feel like the dialog distracted from the story. It has become more natural and less stilted. A few more contractions and some slang wouldn't hurt. I was pretty sure I had figured out what Dean was and I was proven right although it was in the epilogue which he continues to use a spoiler and I still don't like that. I'm not sure when the next one comes out but I'm looking forward to it.
I generally avoid zombie books - most of them follow the same storyline, with the same conflicts, with the same characters (with different names), using the same methods of dealing. This one feels more like a low-key, less intense retake of one of Anita Blake's mad dashes through a hospital after fledging vampires. This is no less exciting or worrisome, but the small bits of farce add to the immediacy in an everyday setting that appeals to me.
Okay this is one of those series where I can’t just sit and read back to back. It is so filled with action and bigger challenges and consequences being foreshadowed that my mind needs a few days at least in between them to process and get ready for the next battle. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book as something that I have thought was confirmed here and will be explored more in the next leg of the journey.
Artur Torrence has eluded those trying to catch yet again. There are many factions hunting him for various reasons. James because Artur tried to steal his position as Vampire Lord. Dean because he made Ashley go back to the heavens early, and Brynne because he made her kill humans after she was turned into a vampire to save her life. And that's just the beginning!
This book seemed to fly by in moments. The battles, injured and ill unusuals, paramedic chores and ambulance rides rocketing around left me worn out. All the different kinds of relationships are deep and meaningful. All my favourites are still working to make a better world. Absolutely brilliant writing!
This is a really great series. I love the way the goodness almost always wins out. The story is really well thought out, though at times it feels as if there will never be a resolution. I'm engaged with the characters and can't wait to see how their lives turn out.
I will keep reading this series and I definitely recommend it.
I have enjoyed reading and watching the characters develop in each of the six books in this series. Will definitely be reading more of this authors offerings and hope to meet some of the same characters and learn more of their stories.
The storyline just had so many things started in book one that need to be wrapped up and a lot were in this book. Well on to the next book number 7 in this series.
Love how the author incorporates real life medical experiences into his fantasy world, it makes the stories come to life even more. Really like the fact that there is a medically trained team for the Unusuals working alongside humans. Really enjoyed this and didn't want to stop reading.
Have to admit, Dean Flynn story is getting boring for me. The plot is getting so weird, It's getting on my nerves. The narration was nonetheless excellently done, which was one plus to this series. Still, I probably wont continue with this series.
As always, Davis does not disappoint. Both my mother and I have gotten caught up in this series, and I'm eager to read the next -- though sad because it's the last so far. Buy a copy to read; you won't regret it!
I like that the books end enough that you can walk away but keep you wanting to finish them. I doubt that they would be any good as stand alone books, though. I also think they could have been better as just one long novel.
Good, but it repeats itself too many times. I dont need to be reminded that Freddie is a zombie chef when he's been a zombie chef since the first book. Or given a recap on who main characters are every time they are mentioned.

Things are heating up..Close call for Jaz and Dean
Artur is still running free and things are heating up between between everyone. Jaz is taken and Dean learns more about his budding new powers. An old friend returns to the job Full of action will hold your attention.
GREAT series - I have the 3-book Box Set's 1-3 & 4-6. I have these books thru CHIRP Audio Books. The narrator is easy on the ears. The stories suck you in and keep you interested to what happens to everyone. I'm looking forward to the next Box set (7-9).
Artur is back with a more diabolical plan. He intends to turn humans against the Unusual population by creating zombies. Dean, Has and their friends will try to stop him! Great read!
The mystery of Deans father is revealed here. And what a surprise. Jaz is growing on me though. Dean surely has to get tough. He’s a healer, but he needs to get with the program. He has so many enemies he really needs some defence.
I enjoyed reading this book, had a hard time putting it down at times... I like the characters and the story. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
