This was a fun read, there were tons of odd and fascinating facts. Broken down into short sections it was the perfect book for porcelain throne reading. :)

3.5 stars. I liked this book & it had some interesting facts but theres was also many of them that i didnt really care for. It took me a while to finish it mostly cause i havent had the time to read a physical book as i listen to audiobooks more now. This is a quick read & i feel like its worth checking out. Glad i read it though it took me alot longer to read.

This book may not change your life, but it might just change how you look at it—for a moment, anyway. Totally Useless Information is exactly what it claims to be: a colorful, often hilarious compendium of facts that are delightfully unnecessary. It doesn’t pretend to be a scholarly text, a political think-piece, or a life-altering manifesto. It knows what it is: trivia for trivia’s sake. And honestly? That’s refreshing.

Each page is bursting with offbeat tidbits that range from “mildly interesting” to “wait, is that really true?” It covers everything from animals and science to food, history, pop culture, and even the bizarre inner workings of the human body. Some facts will make you laugh out loud, others will make you pause and Google to confirm (which I did, more than once), and some are so random they border on absurd. But that’s all part of the fun.

This isn’t a book you read cover-to-cover in one sitting—although you could if you’re on a long flight or having trouble sleeping (a note for insomniacs: you’ll burn more calories asleep anyway). It’s more like that one hilarious friend who always has something weird to say at a party. You don’t need them to be deep—you just need them to be entertaining. And this book is entertaining. Especially if you’re the kind of person who likes to drop random facts into conversation just to see people blink in confusion.

Of course, with the title Totally Useless Information, you know you’re not here for in-depth sources or citations. It doesn’t always clarify where the information comes from, which can be frustrating if you’re a stickler for accuracy.

My favorite section from the book was the true crime section, I’m a sucker for everything true crime. This section included anything from nearly unheard of missing cases to the most famous serial killers in history.

Marked Quote: “In 1971, a man hijacked a plane, demanded $200,000, parachuted out—and was never seen again.”
