Reread: My old review still stands! It wrapped up so nicely!! I honestly recommend this series to everyone, especially people who don’t like traditional romance shojo! It’s got less obvious romance and less tropes than a usual series whilst still maintaining the feel of a shojo series, plus the fantasy elements are so good, it’s written so well!

5* for this volume and 5* for this series as a whole!
This wrapped up so nicely, so perfect, and I'm just so happy with how it ended. The after chapter was a really nice touch too! I honestly ship "Mary" and Maria, basically for the whole series, and there were some super cute moments in this final volume.
This is definitely one I'll be re reading and I'll be looking out for any other series the mangaka puts out!
The ending was satisfying but also unsatisfying at the same time?
Everything wrapped up nicely and all the issues got solved.Quite a happy ending for a serie with grim/dark gothic mood.
While it was really nice to see everyone ended up happy and fulfilled, my sadistic side wishes the author take the opposite route and twist the ending. That would be exquisite even tho I would problaby never recover from it.
I discovered half way through the series that this is not bl.The covers were misleading as hell and this author is relentless with her ship tease. So be warned if you want to see your ship become canon cause it won't *cries*
The art and story really make up for everthing.I'll definitely buy any new title from this creature now. She's amazing.
I am not crying, you're crying. This was everything I wanted from this series. I absolutely love it; the ending wrapped up beautifully and I am so sad that it's over. It's certainly one of my favorites. Definitely recommend it.
Update - 9/24/24 After thinking on it for a bit I'm going to go ahead and rate this 4 stars, as that's how I felt about this series as a whole. I really enjoyed the story and the characters, but I kind of wish that it had been a little bit longer. I felt as though the major conflicts in this story and the villains were a little rushed through and too easy to beat. Also I was disappointed a little bit in the relationship between Mary and Maria. I know that romance was not the goal or the main point of the story, but it felt like the author kept hinting at the characters having romantic feelings for each other and then giving us nothing!!! Like come on, look at the cover for this volume. That is super romantic. Let them have a little smooch or somethin.
Anyway, I really did like this series. I liked the mix of seriousness with moments of the characters being silly and having fun. Now I'm off to try and find another vampire manga series to read next.
Original post 9/13/24 Feeling conflicted about the ending of this. Will sleep on it
Fantastic conclusion to the series & it tied up all the loose ends very nicely. I was confused about Mary and "Mary" and which ones from the past were the current ones since they shared the same body, but once Mary got his memories back we finally got the whole story. Including Mary's real name which was a bit of a shock &, I was glad that he decided to just go by Mary in the end.
There were a lot of touching moments that made me cry a LOT & it kind of gave me a headache, but it was more than worth it. I really wish the series wasn't finished because I want more of Mary and Maria.
I love this so much, it became my favorite manga since the first time I read it and even after 5 years it hasn't change a bit, I still love the characters, the story, the artwork, the ending, everything about this is just perfect to me ♡
I love this series so muchhh!! everything about this manga is so good. this definitely one of the best shounen ai i have read. i absolutely love the art and the character designs. the characters are so cute and lovable. i loved how there was so much mystery around them and it was so satisfying when it was reveled and all the pieces of the puzzle fell right into place. it had a pretty good plot with a good balance of action, mystery and vampy stuff and shounen ai. I felt that maybe the ending was a little too happy (y'know when you always want a happy ending but when u actually get one it doesn't feel right) but it wasn't so bad to make everyone be happy even in the afterlife. I really like how Hydra got a happy ending though, after all shes been through i think she deserved it. Mary is just so adorable! (both of them) I've always liked twins and these two definitely one of my favorites. They just love each other so much. "Mary"wanted Mary to live so badly(that sounds so weird) that he would sacrifice himself to keep him alive and then wouldn't let him die because he wanted Mary to live a happy life. So its great that in the end Mary is living a nice happy life with maria. "Mary" is such a lovable character. In the start we thought that he is the bad guy but he turns out to be a nice person who loves his lil brother and just wants him to live. They're all just soooo cute!!! One more thing I love is the character development. Like how Mary and Maria's relationship goes from annoying person I'm stuck with until i kill him or I die to I cant live without you. in the start of the series they only stayed together because Mary wanted to maria to kill him and maria wanted to know the stuff about how father and wanted to kill Mary. After spending so much time together having each other by their side became so natural to them that they couldn't stand the idea of the other one leaving them. I like how much Maria's character developed into wanting to live with Mary as he considered Mary annoying before. The ending was also very cute. I'm sad it ended though I want more. Overall I'd like to say that the art was the best, its characters are so cute and lovable and the plot was also really good. It was totally worth it.

A part of me is disappointed that I read this series all the way through. If skimming through the rest of the series could really be count as reading it through. Everything that happened is exactly how I assumed it would happened save for a few twists here and there and instead of feeling satisfied for any of the characters, I just felt relieved that I managed to finish it and not rip my hair out.
Did this series have dark/gothic elements to it? Sure,I guess.
Were the characters interesting and engaging? For the most part until you got the gist of their motivations then they became boring.
Was there any BL aspects like the cover arts showed? Not...really? But even then it was kinda implied but also in my opinion, the main "ship" I figured that most people were rooting for,I personally hated. Mary was cute and he's the sweetest baby boy albeit a little too whiny at times, but Maria...was kind of a bitch throughout the series and I just really couldn't find myself to like him.
I don't know, maybe if I was younger and still in the days where I had bad taste in books I would find this series to be the best but at the end of the day all I feel is relieved that I don't have to read it anymore.
I burned through this series pretty quickly and up until the last few books it was enjoyable, but not really anything to write home about. The art is beautiful, and the characters are all very well developed individually and in regards to their relationships with each other. The story gave off this pretty standard "Vampire Manga" vibe (which is always something I enjoy) but there wasn't really anything that set it apart from other similar series.
Then I read volume 10. Volume 10 completely and totally took me apart, very delicately, in the beginning, and then gave me all the time I needed to sort through everything and put myself back together again by the end of the book. I've never been more completely satisfied with the ending of a series before. I didn't feel rushed, and I didn't feel like the story was left with gaping holes that needed fixed. There was just this hopeful tone about the ending that suggested it would go on, much like life does.
My one and only complaint would be Other than that, I felt like every aspect was well thought-out and neatly taken care of, and I loved how so many tiny details from the beginning came back to be very relevant at the end.
The character growth that the main characters go through is so subtle and gradual that you really don't notice it. You can't pinpoint exactly when it happens, or what one instance marks the change, but if you look at how they act in book 1 and how they act in book 10 side by side then you'd honestly think they were completely different people. It's rare to find such well-done, organic character arcs.
The first half of the series really was good. I give it a solid 4 stars, but book 10 was so beautifully done that it puts the series as a whole at 5 stars in my book and well and truly earns a place on my list of favorites. I will definitely be re-reading this series in the future.
Well,I have reached the end of another manga. This one wrapped things up pretty nicely with everyone getting some sort of peace or fulfillment. While I wished we had explored the dynamics between certain characters more, I am pleased with what we got. I still stand by the fact that this is one of my favorites in terms of artwork. I really liked the way Samamiya-sensei lined her characters. ugh. so. freaking. pretty. ALL. OF. THEM.
Would I recommend? Yes, if you find the premise interesting. Would I read it for plot and characters? Yeah, but don't expect anything spectacular or really in depth analysis (like Death Note, Shingeki no Kyojin (AOT), etc.). It's a shoujo, I think that says a lot already.
This would get a higher rating If I wasn’t so ducking peeved about the end where we finally learn Bloody’s or “Mary” real name and it’s fucking Maria. Like I’m so peeved, it’s like the author had like only a couple names she could stick too and decided to fuck with us. Anyways overall this manga was really good, gonna give the whole series a 6/10 cuz it got really confusing towards the end. But I liked the premise and the way the story went, kind of wish there was more romance in this as that’s what it’s kind of advertising but if anything this had more plot then romance, there was some romance here and there with some characters and it was great, but like the main too I wanted to see more from them.
Bit sad that this series is over, it became a favorite straight away. And it was a solid one all the way through. I have complicated feelings about the ending, but I think it was a good one. I probably just want more and more and more of the characters ^_^; The art was gorgeous, always. The story was good. The relationships were satisfying. The humor was totally my jam. I really have no complaints about the series as a whole. Despite that, the final volume is not quite 5 stars. I don't know why, might be more clear on a re-reading. I think I may have wanted a bit more of the tenderness and comedic moments we got in the previous volumes.
This series is a bunch of intertwining stories that revolve around love (in many forms), betrayal, death, sacrifice, forgiveness, and acceptance. Hardly any of this story is truly romance in the traditional sense and leaving that as a subplot was brilliant. The place where this series shines is it's mystery and how the lives of these characters collide. Anything extra... is left to the imagination in the epilogue.
I read the complete Japanese version, but I can read Japanese, so that's not an issue for me. (That's why I'm reviewing this series before the English volumes are completed.)
If you want a unique manga series, check this series out (I'm DEFINITELY going to look at the mangaka's previous works!)
Et voilà, c’est fini, c’était le dernier tome. Et j’en veux encore ! Ils vont me manquer.
To be perfectly honest with you, I was a bit disappointed by this volume. Considering all the emotional stress put upon the characters, I expected a more explosive resolution. And, although I appreciate how everything was neatly brought together with no loose ends, I still wish Maria's and Mary's relationship had progressed a bit more near the end. (They were my ship dammit!)
ok this ending was wholesome. I loved every part of it and how the characters have developed.. also it allowed us to see also a glimpse in the future for each individual. I really recommend this.. yet be prepared for lots of twists and turns and being emotionally unstable... but then becoming a hopefully happy bean ^.^
Awww, I guess it's over? A few things seemed confused to me (maybe I missed or forgot something from the previous volume? like what happened to the mean grandfather) and I wasn't totally satisfied with the end, but it was all right, and I was glad Mary turned out to actually love Hydra.
THEY’RE LITERALLY LIVING FOR EACH JFC THEY’RE IN LOVE SHONEN JUMP ARE COWARDS FOR NOT GIVING THEM A KISS. I don’t love how Yuri just-forgave his dad bc that was mega fucked up but otherwise a wonderful happy ending.
I was really happy about how this series ended. I can't believe what Mary's real name is. That was the most shocking reveal in the whole series for me and I'm glad Mary decided to live. It was always funny to watch Mary trying to kill himself in a comedic sense, but when I think about why Mary wanted to kill himself or why he turned into a vampire, I felt kinda sad. I really enjoyed the series. I reread it a lot. The art syle is great and the story it tells is even better.
