The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a mystery fiction novel by British writer Mark Haddon. It was published in 2003 and has been translated into 45 languages.
The story revolves around Christopher Boone, a 15-year-old boy with behavioral problems who is intrigued by the murder of his neighbor’s dog, Wellington. The poodle was found stabbed by a garden fork. Mrs. Shears, its owner, finds the dog and frantically calls the police. When they arrive, they assume Christopher is the suspect (being with the dog at its death puts him at the scene of the crime precariously), and while being routinely questioned, the policeman touches him and he, in turn, hits him. He is arrested and brought to prison. Christopher is fascinated by the cell being a cube. His widowed father, Ed, fetches him to explain everything to the police for his son’s release; and they drive home.
Christopher chooses to dismiss the officer’s advice, and he conducts his own investigation of the crime. He conducts interviews with neighbors that eventually lead him to the affairs of his parents with the dog’s owners. His father, he finds out, had a romantic relationship with the dog’s owner, Mrs. Shears as a result of Christopher’s mother’s affair with Mr. Shears.

Interesting book. I didn't find it as good as the critics but it was interesting. Goes to show you that you can never let your abilities define you.

Expertly written - Enjoyable and perceptive.

Very interesting book of how a boy with Asperger's views the world. Liked it so much we went to see the play on Broadway and enjoyed that as well.
