YAAASSS Braga my GIRL! LOVE how we're doing the la la la nothing happened. last issue? what issue?! regarding the last arc. A fresh start. Man, the art is GREAT! The girls all look so fierce and so cool and so kick-ass. BTW go Hannah! Sport those horns, fuck the man! She looks amazing.
Oh and can we all agree on the fact that Barry is a dickwad? Because Barry is a dickwad.

Hmmm, I’m not entirely sure how to rate this...
I understand the reason for the reboot, and I agree it was entirely necessary, but I still miss the original run.
The girls don’t feel like the OG Rat Queens. Where are their fiery personalities that I loved so much? Hints of them are there, but overall the content seems to have more of a positive message this time around. Just let me at my salty and bitter Queens who say fuck every other sentence.
Bits were funny, and I do like the new artist’s style quite a lot. I’m hoping the magic from the first arc will spark again.

I had heard Rat Queens was returning, and I'm glad it has. There was more action and humour, and less of the rather heartbreaking characterisation the series ended on. But it's still lots of fun. And now the Orc has joined them!

Finally the Rat Queens are back! I've missed this series a lot, and Bounty just wasn't that great. I hope this time it lasts for more than three arcs.

It's so great to have the Rat Queens back I had to run out to get a single issue. Waiting for a new trade would just take too long!

Gosh this comic misses Tess Fowler so much.
So essentially Rat Queens has 'soft rebooted', so after almost a year long hiatus we have the same characters, the same writer, the same world and shenanigans, but a different artist.
So the feel shouldn't be that different right?
Except it is.
I'm not sure if I just got used to not reading Rat Queens over it's hiatus or if the change in artwork is too jarring for me or if the execution of the premise just feels a bit off to me, but I do not enjoy it as much any more.
I like that Braga came back, but it almost felt like they were trying to stuff too many fan favourites in this issue in order to make it land, that it just kind of felt off.
This first issue follows the Rat Queens getting back to the status quo, with the help of Braga, and on their travels they encounter the Cat Kings, who are a gender swapped version of them down to roles and looks/styles. Not sure what a supposed feminist comic needs is male copycat counterparts but maybe that's just me being overly bitter. There wasn't enough action in this to draw me in and it just felt a little weak compared to issues in the first iteration of Rat Queens.
The colouring is still a treat though, and I really do enjoy the joy it brings to the page.
I'd suggest if you enjoy the concept of Rat Queens, then just stick to reading the first two volumes of the first series.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but...
I can't read this book.
I forced myself to the end, but it was an EFFORT. The art is so not-good. And the writing is forced.
Sigh. I really loved the first series, seeing this fall from grace hurts my heart.

The re launch of the rat queens.The artwork is even better.. The cat queens who are a drag version of the rat queens are hilarious, what DM hasn't done this. Betty gets into a classic predicament. A new team member joins.

Whereas Bridesmaids was the female answer to The Hangover, Rat Queens seems to be the female answer to male-dominated D&D adventures. Because, really, that's what this is. The beginning of a D&D adventure, complete with a mage and a half-orc barbarian and plenty of bickering. Just as the gals in Bridesmaids are allowed to be hilariously gross, these girls are allowed their drunkenness and hangovers, though where Bridesmaids has broad appeal, strong characters, and well-written humor, Rat Queens is just mildly amusing, and probably more amusing for those who play Dungeons and Dragons and can make their own connections to the story.
The art is nice enough, and it is great to see comics diversifying their characters. This is a rare female-led comic, and these are not females who are scantily clad (for the most part, though there is a male character less covered than she is, later on, to be fair). They are handled with respect. Yet this is not enough to elevate this above mild amusement. The characters are barely distinguishable in terms of personality, and the comic's tone feels uncertain. The comic teeters towards light-hearted comic action fantasy, but provides occasional slips into an edgy darkness, and it doesn't really work. One-dimensional characters are okay for light-hearted comedy, but not so much for dark fantasy. In the end, I felt no real affinity for or against the comic - just meh.

This is the first issue for volume 2 of the Rat Queens. The Rat Queens are a fantasy questing company that causes death and destruction. I think of this series as a cross between Groo and the Dirty Pair. This issue is enjoyable as the Rat Queens meet another group of adventurers loosely based on them. We get standard fantasy tropes and action. Recommended to fans of volume 1.

Glad this series is back, & with a new artist. I've always liked Geini's work on "Manifest Destiny" so I thought it was cool that he's gonna being doing this book too, his stuff is a great fit for the Queens.

Look, I love open ending as much as the next person, but come on. This is too much.
Not the biggest fan of the new artist either so sadly, I just won't be reading the rest of those issues.

I really like the look of the new reboot and I like seeing many familiar faces. However, the story of this comic issue is just confusing.

The first issue of this reboot has all the stuff in it Rat Queens fans love: the Rat Queens, Braga, lots of fighting, humor, and guts. The Cat Kings narrative is hilarious and I'm looking forward to where that goes. I'm looking forward to where this all goes in general! I love this series.
It clearly takes place long after the events before the series was put on hiatus. So there's no resolution yet. I see that they all survived. Hannah's old hairstyle is back but her horns show now. So she's developed but we don't know how or why! I just hope the readers are informed at some point.
That being said, the artwork is alright. There are times when their faces look wrong.

The Rat Queens burst onto the comic field in a violent
drug and sex fueled frenzy catching everyone off guard.
The original series was amazing.
These clever, violent, foul mouthed women kicked all the
ass took no names and then went home to party after the slaughtering was done.
This is a soft re boot of the series. Re introducing us to The Queens
and the town of Palisade where they do their adventuring from.
This issue was a little off as I think it's going to take Wiebe to
re find his footing and get his pace 100 %.
But I have faith since the man is a profoundly gifted writer.
Who will no doubt be turning out wonderful stories by the next couple issues.

So glad to have the Queens back, and happy to see Braga included! It has a slightly different feel now, and the loss of Tess Fowler is biting, but I'm sticking with the series :)

Agora eu tô bem louca, sei que é um "soft reboot" então tenho que esperar mais algumas edições para saber se o final da nº 16 v.1 foi mudado ou não porque eu terminei bem chocada e essa edição nem tocou no assunto... Escolhi assumir que não aconteceu até que uma edição me contradiga.

They are baaaack. And this first issue not only presents every single thing I loved from the previous Rat Queen comics, but the art is fabulous and the way Wiebe incorporates the past events into this while keeping this absolutely brand new starting point is great. I love the monster (seriously, all Canadians can relate) and the dialogue and how every character gets something to define them. So glad I read this.

With a fresh start, Rat Queens must be given a fair chance. I LOVED the old series. Yes there were bumps along the way, from different artists to the story line falling apart. However, with this "reboot" I'm putting that all behind, because although some of the events from before are charging through we need fresh eyes and give this series another chance. I like this first issue back. The gang is back together and the action throws us right back into the game for Palisade.
