So, so, so good.
Note: this review will contain some spoilers for book #1 (Dirty Talk, Secret Pleasure).
Dirty Talk, Whispers in the Dark is the second novella in Opal Carew's Dirty Talk series. Each installment is a continuation and should be read in order.
At the end of Dirty Talk, Secret Pleasure, Sonny made a huge discovery about Tal: after meeting him and hearing his voice, she realizes he's the same man on the erotic audio she's been listening to online. Not sure how to interact with him, Sonny continues to withdraw into herself and tries to avoid Tal.
But Tal sees the pain in Sonny's eyes every time he sees her. He's not sure what trauma she has suffered, but he wants to be there for her when she's ready.
I should take a moment here to talk about how amazing Tal is. Outwardly, he's super intimidating with his hulking form and rough appearance. But he's one of the sweetest heroes I've ever read. He doesn't force Sonny to rush or do anything she's not ready for--including sharing her secrets. He's patient and kind and she learns to trust him on her own terms. Tal even makes an effort to get to know Sonny's cat--how freaking sweet is that? I die.
In this book, Sonny opens up to Tal and confides in him about why she's so terrified of men. My heart broke when she told her story. In turn, Tal treats Sonny with the utmost care, never judging or blaming her. He comforts her. That's why she's so responsive to him, both as a friend and the beginning of something more.
Sonny and Tal have a strong attraction, which is acted upon in this story--though not necessarily in the way you'd expect. As with the first book, Opal Carew has included a link to an audio clip that accompanies the story (aka Best Idea Ever).
As with the previous book, this ends roughly around 75% and on a cliffhanger. The rest of the book contains excerpts from the author's other works.
After loving Dirty Talk, Secret Pleasure so much, I had high hopes for this book. Dirty Talk, Whispers in the Dark absolutely delivers. Opal Carew has done an amazing job conveying Sonny's vulnerability and Tal's dedication to her. I loved seeing their relationship develop in this story and I eagerly anticipate the next installment in the series.

Dirty talk, whispers in the dark is the second instalment of Sonny’s story.
When Sonny’s horrific ordeal was revealed my heart went out to her.
I was rooting for Sonny to give Tal a chance. I understood her reservations and fear but she deserved to move forward in her life.
One of the scenes in this book is seriously hot. I said this in my review of the first book but Tal is my dream guy. His personality, his attitude and his looks. His tattoo’s and piercings mixed with his vulnerability is dreamy. Can I have a real life Tal?! The cliffhanger for this book has me eager for more.
I would recommend reading this book as a series. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.
After horrific time in her life, Sonny is left scared of men. When she discovered a recording on a website she grew attached to the voice. A voice that makes her feel safe and saved her life. She always wondered what she would do if she ever met the owner of the voice. She doesn’t have to wonder any longer. Her new handsome neighbour Tal is the guy on the recording! Tal is attracted to Sonny but he knows she has been hurt in the past. When Sonny steps up on her avoidance of him, Tal is hurt. He wants to be loved; he wants a relationship and a family. But because of his tattoos and piercings, women are scared of him. He doesn’t want Sonny to be scared of him. When he finally confronts Sonny on her avoidance of him, she bravely reveals her secret about knowing about his recording. As Sonny finally starts to let Tal into her life and give him a chance, she gets a shock when she learns something about him he has kept quiet.

This serial is going to be the death of me!!!! Next book doesn't come out until MAY!!!!!! I will die by then not to know what happens between Tal and Sonny. Tal is the total package, hot, protective, and caring. I love how he is bringing Sonny out of her shell and help her get over her haunting trauma of the past.

I loved Tal and Sonny have a great dynamic.
