The third book in Donna Grant’s Sons of Texas series, finally gives us Wyatt Loughman’s story.
The Legend, picks up where its predecessor left off in that, Owen and Natalie are still holed up on the family ranch, and Orrin, Owen and Mia are all out trying to track down the Scientist involved in the production of Ragnarok the bio weapon that could literally change the face of civilization, while trying to stay one step ahead of The Saints and all of their affiliated villains.

Wyatt and Callie have been simmering away together since the Loughman brothers returned to Texas to search for their father, this is a couple with history, in that two months spent they together pre Wyatt leaving the ranch for a Military career have left indelible marks on the both of them.
"When you left I was still a kid. I’m a woman now."
Something Wyatt tries to ignore and Callie wants to forget, being stuck in close quarters with each other though, Callie starts to realize that Wyatt isn’t as ambivalent towards her as he would like her to believe.
For years he’d keep the memory of a girl alive, but now, the woman was in his arms. A woman who stole his heart with a smile. A woman with a fiery spirit who laughed in the face of overwhelming odds…
There are lots of POVs in this one, and it is so worth it, because you get too see everything that is going on from all sides of the coin. I have to say I think this is the best book of the series so far, Donna has now set the scene, all of the characters are now well ingrained into the readers brain that you just get stuck into the story as soon as you start reading. The action picks up in this one as well, more so in the second half of the book, but I actually felt like the plot was finally moving along whereas it felt a little stationary in the last book.
This wouldn’t be a quick battle, but a long war…
Although Wyatt and Callie have a lot of fences to mend between them, the book was definitely more focused on the bigger picture this time, a lot of questions were answered, vengeance was served to a few of the villains as well, and we also finally get the family reunion that I have been hoping for since the beginning of book one.
But, there is no way that this can be the last of the series, there are still huge questions left unanswered, Orrin and his sons have a massive score to still settle with The Saints as well, and although I cannot find any information on-line about further books, I hope that they are not long in coming, if this is the last book, then it’s a really poor way to leave the series hanging, fingers crossed for more, as the Sons of Texas series has just hit it’s stride.

A heart-felt, action packed, 2nd Chance Romance
The story picks up right after book two and the action and danger is alive and kicking.
This can definitely be read as a stand alone, trust me, you won't miss much as the plot is easy to follow and recaps are plentiful.
Wyatt is back home to deal with the terrorist group targeting his family. For the last fifteen years he's stayed away. Now a decorated and highly skilled Delta Force operative, Wyatt is read to fight alongside his brothers and face the girl he left behind.
Callie loved Wyatt fifteen years ago with stars in her eyes but when he pushed her away and left home without a backwards look, she tirelessly worked to eradicate him from her life and her heart. With their lives in danger and enemies at every turn, Callie finds herself working alongside the one man capable of bringing her up or tearing her down.
As Callie and Wyatt try to out wit and out fight the Saints, they have to face the fact that there is still a love stronger then either imagined linking them together.
Some light is shed on the murder of the Loughmans' mother, we get to see the rest of the gang in action and the good guys just barely manage to stay one step ahead of the sinister Saints.
What I liked:
Wyatt and Callie were fleshed out and in depth characters. They both had baggage but slowly worked out their issues to finally be able to claim the future of love and acceptance that they both craved.
I liked that Callie was such a strong woman, her love for Wyatt was complicated and messy and emotionally draining but she remained a brave and intelligent woman. There were no TSTL moments for Callie. She called Wyatt out on his BS, stood up to him, and gave as good as she got.
Wyatt was definitely the self sacrificing martyr type Hero. He loved deeply and whole-heartedly, it just took him a bit longer to admit it and accept it. He makes up for it with his feelings and inner dialogue that shows his more vulnerable side.
For years, he'd kept the memory of a girl alive, but now, the woman was in his arms. A woman who stole his heart with a smile. A woman with a fiery spirit who laughed in the face of overwhelming odds.
The fast pacing and on-going plot kept me engaged and pretty hooked on the main story line. The light romance kept this read light and optimistic.
The ending did feel a bit rushed but it could be that I just wanted to keep reading about Wyatt, Callie and the rest of the Whitehorse team. I hope the war against the Saints will live up to the hype because so far, leading up to it, has been completely worth it and a great opening to more action fighting suspense with just the right about of light-hearted romance.
Favorite Line(s):
"He was the only one for her. She was willing to fight to the death for him, to have him any way she could - because he was the other have of her heart."
It was a poignant moment when Callie accepts Wyatt just the way he is, no compromise, no lies, just unconditional support and love for her man. It was a hard core declaration of her love for him.

Book Review For: The Legend by Donna Grant 'The Legend' by Donna Grant is Book Three in The "Sons of Texas" series. This is the story of Callie Reed and Wyatt Loughman. I do feel that you will enjoy and understand this book better if you read the previous book. These book main focus is with the Loughman brothers and so this book opens us up to Wyatt. Both Callie and Wyatt are strong main characters that won't easily give into their feelings but love wins out for sure. This has some exciting situations...so if you love some drama and mystery to your romance this is your series. Love Ms. Grants writing and this just added to my admiration for her. The Legend is book three in a continued story. I would recommend reading them in order. Each book is focused on one of the Loughman brothers but there is an overall big picture going on involving the government and a shadow organization.
Book 3 focuses on Wyatt and Callie, with appearances from all the characters in the previous books. This series is heavy on the suspense and action packed. I do wish the romance part of the story was more. It gets a bit overshadowed with everything going on but you will not be bored. It's very fast paced and ends on a HFN where everyone has to regroup before the next battle.
There is violence due to the nature of the story but no rape. ARC provided by NetGalley.

I would highly recommend that you read the previous books in this series. I did not and felt a little lose which affected my overall enjoyment of the book. Wish I had known what was going on. Lots of characters I didn’t know.
Other than that this was a fast paced, action filled book with two characters that I enjoyed. The romance is not front and centered and let’s face it, that’s why I read. I would definitely recommend this if you’re willing to read the previous books first.

Three and a half
When I pick up a book by this author I know that I'm going to get a fast paced story with plenty of heat to help fuel the action. Having being enamoured of her paranormal romance stories I was over the moon to discover that she has now turned to romantic suspense with a decidedly military twist, plus these books feature heroes from Texas so yeehah !
This is the third book featuring three brothers and the covert ops that their father is heavily involved in. If honest I think they are probably best read in order but there is information given as the story progresses so it's easy to understand just what has been happening and boy has a lot happened!
Wyatt never got over the death of his mother and blames his father for not doing anything yet when it's obvious that his family are being targeted by a secretive organisation reluctantly he has returned home. Home is where Callie has been all these years. Their brief romance had to end as Wyatt always knew he couldn't stay but that hasn't stopped him watching out for her no matter how far away he was. Now there's a threat at the door and it's time to make a stand but keeping Callie at a distance is getting harder by the minute. Yet with so much in play and enemies getting closer will any of them survive?
Wyatt prefers to keep his distance but the relationship he has with Callie surprised me. She's come from an awful background and yet she's one tough cookie. Fragile looking perhaps but definitely underestimated and I liked seeing this strong heroine stand up to the bad guys and earn the respect that she's due. Yes their romance whilst slow in coming felt justified.
Now the storyline around this couple is anything but ordinary! Russians , bio weapons , para military groups not to mention a family who really sucked! Yes so much happening that I'm left wondering if the author will write more as the three brothers are all loved up but there's still a lot up in the air.
I cannot fault the action although this family do seem to be perhaps a little bit like energiser bunnies who keep going no matter what! What I didn't like was the way that Wyatt is written as this amazingly heroic living legend. Seeing him referred to quite early on as a lethal weapon just had me rolling my eyes but when his ahem 'prowess' was likened to something almost devine well no that just didn't quite work for me. I think what works in paranormal romance with characters who are more than human doesn't necessarily work in a contemporary story. Wyatt is human although admittedly fit and well trained but at times the opinions expressed by Callie just felt completely over the top but then she is in love and that does make us all a little crazy sometimes.
I'd like to read more but as there are just three brothers I'm not sure if more will be forthcoming but if you enjoy books from Maya Banks , Julie Ann Walker or Elle Kennedy then this series might just be up your street!

A Delta Force operative comes home and keeps safe his once childhood sweetheart against a huge, lethal shadow organization with a doomsday rule the world type of goal. Oh yes, count me in.
So... The Legend is the third book in the Sons of Texas series. Heh, yeah, I missed that when I was all excitable over the blurb and cover. It was not the best of reading experiences for this book as a result. Then again, I had little trouble with getting into the ongoing series arc or already introduced characters.
The Legend was my first book by Donna Grant. It not exactly what I was expecting and I'm not referring to the fact that it was book three and I had to get up to speed. I was expecting maybe some local troubles and a second chance romance. Instead, I got an American version of a James Bond story with Wyatt being the James Bond figure and The Saints organization being the evil, secretive world-wide criminal group and the bio weapon with scientist fitting right in.
Now, I'm not trying to say this is a James Bond retelling because its not, but just trying to explain that I had to alter my expectations and get used to what I had. Its got some far-fetched going on, but I went with it since I tolerate that better in spy thrillers. It did tip into over the top a few times with the addition of the terrorist group out for revenge on Wyatt and Callie's criminal family trying to steal her back. Callie's family motives made no sense to me since I had no idea what they thought they were going to do with her once they had her back. They seemed more distraction than anything else.
I hadn't read the earlier books about Wyatt's brothers, but for those who did, there are several cut to scenes with them and their dad. I enjoyed encountering all of them and some of the family's allies and friends. There were a few villain scenes, too, that were quiet intriguing.
This was one of those romances that worked for me because of everything else going on around it. I didn't have much patience for this pair though I could understand, to an extent, why they were dinking around. The pair were already in love, but were equally as strongly in denial. Wyatt denies because he's still messed up after his mother's murder when he was younger. Callie denies because Wyatt hurt her when he pushed her away as a teen. I smirked over their denials because here they are so protective of each other that they hide vital information so the other doesn't worry and they dash into trouble to throw themselves in front of each other. And then there is all the sniping because they are sexually frustrated. Yeah, definitely not into each other. At all. Nope. Definitely not. Now, I didn't hate them, but I thought they were good for each other and just needed a swift kick in the butt to get with it.
All in all, I had a good outing with my first Donna Grant. I'm curious about where things are going particularly if a couple of the side players get their story now that the brothers all got their HEAs. I'm all on board with the small band taking down the evil Saint organization, too. I would recommend this one, but I would recommend starting rather with book one, The Hero.

Action packed! Romance was on the back burner throughout the story, but I figured that going in, as they were both being stubborn and lying to themselves. This evil secret agency thing is interesting. Hopefully we get a couple more books.
seriously? you publish book 1 and 2 in consecutive months but then the third 6 months later? when it has an overall story arc? That sucks.

I am a huge fan of this author and this series! This book is Wyatt and Callie's story. After fifteen years apart and love they have each held deep within their hearts of each other, without the other knowing, they have had to split up to stay alive and keep the fight against the saints and the search for Orrin going.
The feelings are still there, even though they are trying to keep them in check. It becomes more and more difficult.
When trusted friends become enemies and new people become friends it can be confusing and frustrating.
Their journey is filled with action and love, surprise and strength. When it comes down to the end of this battle what will they do? Go back to the way they were or take a chance on something more?

Awesome continuation this was of a riveting storyline that does not quit. Two former lovers hunted by three attacking groups. Who can they trust? The shadow organization that reaches into all levels of the government across the globe has men everywhere, the chance of betrayal is high. When enemies align the stakes become deadlier and decidedly personal. Amid fast paced action and suspense and continued intrigue the Loughmans defend what is theirs against what should be insurmountable odds. This is a must read if you’ve read the first two books for an explosive climax.

Callie Reed is no stranger to danger. Her family is notorious for scheming and bilking funds off others. The family business isn’t anything she wants to join. Still, I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, and when the story focused on Callie and Wyatt I perked up. Danger, action, and revelations about the murder of Orrin’s wife (Wyatt’s mother) unfold. Like I said, some of this was over my head. I would like to go back and read/listen to the previous books, because Ms. Grant sets a fast pace and writes an addictive plot.

The Legend is the third installment of the Sons of Texas series, as the Loughman brothers search for their kidnapped father and outmaneuver the danger that is out to kill them. Wyatt Loughman is the oldest of the three and probably the most dangerous. He lives up to his name “The Legend” as a member of Delta Force, because he is ruthless and fights like there is no tomorrow. He left Texas when he was able because he blamed his father for his mother’s murder, and vowed never to return. He left the only girl he has ever loved and now there are together and old feelings are stirring again.
Wyatt and Callie were interesting characters because they stood independently for so long but couldn’t help longing for the other. I loved how tough both of them were and how they both worked hard to be tough and talk themselves out of those feelings. But when the only person you ever loved is in danger, it’s hard to deny those feelings when you know that there may not be a tomorrow. All bets are off and they have a tender and loving moment together. There was a good balance of intrigue with the romance which worked well for me.
Donna Grant has created a story of suspense, slowly building over the course of the series, and it concludes with an epic battle. It even had a few twists at the end which was a pleasant surprise too. I love her writing because she gives you enough to tease you and lure you in, and before you know it you’re hooked. She kept me on the edge until the very end and left a few loose ends that I am hoping will be a chance for more stories to be written. I hope so because it would be nice to see the FINAL battle when their enemy is confronted once and for all. I really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it for a summer read.

This book picks up right where book two ended. The Loughman’s still don’t know who they can trust and who are part of the Saints. This book has all the action, suspense & danger as the first two books. The story is still unfolding and questions are getting answered along with more questions being brought up.
I can’t see anyone being able to read any of these books as stand-alones since the story is a continuation and each book has answers but then more questions are brought up along the way that you would feel as if you were left hanging if you didn’t read them all & in order.
Callie worked along with Wyatt’s dad and she has been in the picture for fifteen years. That is the amount of time she has been in love with Wyatt but he left her all those years ago seeming to never look back.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. All the character growth everyone is having, the love stories and definitely the action!

I have enjoyed this series but I didn't find Wyatt and Callie's story as believable.
Fifteen years is a long time to have miscommunication keep lovers apart. And as they jumped into the war to find the kidnapped Orrin, Wyatt and Callie just flowed back into each other after a couple of terse conversations. I wanted her to make him work harder to own his part in their separation.
Maybe the danger of fighting with the Saints made them decide not to waste time anymore but I thought Callie capitulated too easily.
The book was still full of danger, family loyalty, romance (I guess) but this one wasn't as good for me.

I’ve read some of the reviews of this book and I’m in the minority here. I had trouble finishing this book. Perhaps because it’s the third in a series and I was not familiar with several characters. Or perhaps because there were so many things happening and some of them were unrealistic.
I usually love a wounded hero and I liked some dimensions in Wyatt, a deeply tortured soul.
I also liked the heat between Wyatt and Callie (the heroine), the strong if troubled familial relationships and the emerging romance between the older couple (Orrin/Kate).
As for the hero’s Alpha persona, something I usually like too, I thought his depiction as the tough, almost invincible Delta Force colonel was often far-fetched (I didn’t like his Rambo-like dimension at all, I found it detestable).
He (and the other characters, particularly the heroine) took himself so seriously when I was just rolling my eyes with such over-the-top and clichéd descriptions: “He was the master of decadence and hedonism, as if he’d been schooled by the gods on how to bring her to unimaginable heights” (loc. 1541); “magnificent male specimen”; his body often described as a “lethal weapon”.
The heroine, Callie, an operative herself, swooning over him, for example when she was severely wounded, was a bit ridiculous (which is somewhat excusable because Wyatt often went a bit sentimental over her too).
On the other hand, there’s so much going on besides the romantic storyline and that’s not the type of book that I usually like. The evil international organization Saints, the Russian scientist (why would he be needing help to defect after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the Soviet Union?) and his bioweapon, the terrorist chasing Wyatt, the conflicts in both MC’s families…
There’s also the usual tendency in this type of fiction for characters (males included) having conversations about emotions and feelings in the midst of dangerous situations.
And then there’s so much violence, killings, weapons and shootings… like it were normal or sometimes like an action TV series. Not for me when I’m reading a romantic suspense book.
But what didn’t work for me might be enjoyable for other readers.

The Legend starts right up where book 2 ends, so you will need to have read the other 2 books in the Sons of Texas series before picking this one up.
I have been waiting for Wyatt and Callie's story, however the romance takes a back seat in this action packed, suspenseful installment of this series.
All the tensions that have been building up, all the people out for the Loughman family, come together in a perfect storm of danger - though at times I struggled a little bit remembering who was with whom, who was the bad guy. who could be trusted. But it did all come together for me, so it is probably just me at the time of reading.
I adore the Loughman family - as fractured and dysfunctional is they may be.
A lot was tied up by the end of this book, but I was also left with much more I needed to know. The ending left this open for more books, so I hope we do get more in the future.

Long awaited Book 3 for me in this series. I was waiting to see what the story was between Wyatt and Callie. The previous books barely alluded to their obvious over the top dislike for each other, the abrasive and cold Wyatt who blames his father for his mothers death and is totally closed off from the family. Wyatt is the oldest. Callie has been working on the ranch for years, had a brief tryst with Wyatt before he unceremoniously dumped her and went off to college, he never came home. Callie stayed all these years with Orrin, the father and seeing her potential recruiter her for their Special Ops group. Callie is the computer wizard, that's her primary task but she's a formidable opponent as well.
This picks up where book two left off with Wyatt and Callie up at the cabin, Mia and Cullen in DC with Orrin and Yuri, trying to track down the Russian Scientist and Mel and Owen at the ranch.
There's a lot going on in this book, it ties up some loose ends but leaves a couple dangling for the next book, which I can't wait to read.
This story involves us further into what's going on with the Saints group, who is on whose side, Callie's dirt ball family who have been warned to stay away by none other than Wyatt (yep) and the appearance of her dirtbag cousin showing up in town which doesn't bode well for them. When it seems Wyatt and Callie may have some of their issues worked out, well... hey, it's Wyatt. Callie is big into denial throws up walls as fast as he does. There's just all kinds of crazy going on in this book, and yet I read it in one sitting because it was a page turner. The few love scenes we get of Wyatt and Callie were well done. I say few. The one and then the kiss. Nonetheless is was well done. I honestly didn't see them ending bridges because Wyatt is such an ass. There are some great moments in this book as well and again I am going to patiently await for the next book.

The Good: Awesome romance and hot, hot sex scenes. The final battle of good verses evil was Epic.
The Bad: Callie and Wyatt circling each other like a couple of junk yard dogs. The endless regurgitation of their high school romance and Wyatt's leaving her heartbroken. This plot does not resolve with this book.
The Really Bad: By the time this book got to the Awesome romance and Epic battle, I just didn't care.
I've read all the books in this series and this one is the best. When Daddy Dearest, Orrin, is sent to steal a bioweapon and is captured his estranged sons gather to find him and secure the weapon. Each of the three sons finds love along the way. This book is about Callie and Wyatt. They were hot and very heavy in high school until Wyatt drops her flat to go to college and never returns. Callie is from a family of cons and thieves and they keep after her to return to the fold even when she tells them to drop dead. Wyatt is haunted by the murder of his mother, hates his father and even though he loves Callie deeply, he tells himself can't have her. The baddies, the Saints, are after the weapon and want to but an end to the Loughman boys too. 3 1/2-Stars

Everything from the first book in this series has been leading up to this, as the Loughman brothers search for their missing father and try to understand what they are working against and it definitely was worth the wait!
THE LEGEND is filled with twists and turns, danger, action and a slow building suspense leading to an epic final stand against an organization that spans the world, where no-one can be trusted. While the questions from the previous books have been answered, there are more raised in this one that I hope will get answers in a follow-up book.
Wyatt Loughman's life took a different turn the day he found his mother's body twenty years ago and since then, he has earned a reputation as a formidable warrior with a stone heart, ready to take on the enemy at any time. With his family at risk, there is nothing Wyatt won't do to protect them, especially Callie Reed.
Callie and Wyatt are very interesting characters with a lot of shared history, but their choices long ago determined their future or lack of one. Wyatt's every decision has been determined by that one event and Callie has her criminal family to fend off, but with danger bearing down on them, this might be the perfect time for them to reassess their feelings for each other and take a chance on love and happiness.
The Legend focuses more on the overall bigger picture than Wyatt and Callie's relationship and I liked that when the story focused on them, there was minimal drama between them and they were both aware of how high stakes were. My only issue with them was how hard they fought admitting their feelings for each other, when everyone within a mile could see how they felt about each other.
I really loved Callie because she was quietly competent in everything she took on, from computers to weaponry and was really an all-round asset to the team. Wyatt comes across as a cold and without feeling, but the opposite is actually true. If anything, he feels too much and burying his emotions deeply is the only way he can function in his chosen role.
This one book I won't recommend reading as a stand-alone because the overarching story-line can only be understood by reading from the beginning of the series and also because the story catches up with characters from the previous books that won't make sense without first reading their story, but it is definitely one that should be at the top of any TBR this summer.
If you love a lot of flash and bang in your books, or just enjoy spectacular world-building in a story, this is a perfect series to read.

The third book in The Sons Of Texas.
I loved this book. The characters were awesome. When Delta Force Wyatt Loughman comes home
to help his family with the threat against them it's very hard for him.
He left after his mother was murdered along with his aunt and uncle. The only option he had was to leave.
Now he's facing Callie Reed the young girl, and now women who was brought into there home after a terrible incident with her family. He will never forget.
A spark that never went out between them comes out. But is short lived when a development about the whereabouts of his father come to light. Callie has made connection with Wyatt's dad.
It's a relief to say the least. But so much is at stake. Everyone is in danger.
There reaching out to friends Wyatt doesn't know if he can trust.
This is his team. He hopes he can trust them, or there all dead.
Highly recommend.

Long, drawn out and took forever to get anywhere whether it was with the romance between Callie and Wyatt, or the reunion, or the bad guys attacking. And of course, the main bad guy(s) are still around.
Sorry, Ms. Grant, but I like your Dragon Kings better than these Texas boys.

I absolutely LOVED Wyatt's and Callie's story. I really enjoyed Owen's story in book 1, but Wyatt stole my heart in The Legend. The Loughman boys are a force to be reckoned with. This story was full of heart-pounding action, sexual tension, and complex characters that moved like pieces on a well-played chess board. There were plot points I didn't see coming, which thrills me when it happens in books. The action was so well written that it played like a movie in my head as I read. The story was crafty, and the characters were believable and easy to like. I could not put this book down, ignoring everything else I had to do until I knew what was happening in the Loughman world.
With the completion of this series and the strong writing by Grant, I've added her other series to my TBR.

I just love this series! There is so much more to the story than a long lost romance. I love the intrigue, action and drama and especially like the fight scenes. There are times I get in a rut reading and it feels like it's all the same scenario. When I saw this book land on my Kindle I knew I was in for a treat. Donna Grant's writing is always flawless and has me at the edge of my seat.
I loved Callie and her struggles with family and finding a home on the Loughman ranch. It's really ironic that the Loughman son's fled the ranch and felt no sense of family and then you had Mia and Callie finding a home there. So glad this story brings Wyatt HOME. I love his hard exterior yet you know what a fierce, loyal protector and friend he is and better yet man he is for Callie.
I was thinking this book would be the end of this series and would wrap up the Saints and Ragnarok, but NOPE! Donna Grant had an ace up her sleeve and I hope it includes a story with more of Orrin and Kate's lives.

My favorite in the series thus far. Maybe because they had a previous history, or maybe because I’m getting used to this authors writing style, but still, I was finally able to get into the grove with this one. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of the series!

Fantastic series with an intriguing plot and action enough to feel like more than just a book. Callie and Wyatt had such great chemistry. This was the whole package.

Callie Reed and Wyatt Loughman were once very close until Wyatt decided he couldn't stay in Texas after what happened to his mother and the blame he directed at his father. But now he's back and determined to protect Callie from the three factions gunning for him or his family and to keep a biological weapon from landing into the wrong hands. Will he be able to keep Callie safe, or will they lose their second chance at love?
Romantic suspense is my go-to when it comes to reading, and Ms. Grant pens the best stories with this series which take readers on a wild ride, as the main and secondary characters do their best to fight back against those that are coming after them. The way this story started had me sympathizing with the heroine, as her family are nothing but trouble that she's done her best to stay away from. Will they find a way to bring her back into the family fold in order to do what they want her to do? However, what I liked most about the beginning is how protective Wyatt is of Callie and that he would do anything to keep her family from getting to her.
The dialogue was well-written and so intense that I could not put this book down. Certainly, the plot twists, the action and the main characters made this story a thrilling and intriguing read and had me determined to discover what would happen next, as Wyatt and his family have to decide whether to take the fight to the bad guys or whether to wait for the bad guys to come after them. Will they come out on top over the bad guys? Will they discover information that will make them closer as a family?
As for the main characters, both are absolutely riveting due to their back stories, the history between them and all that they go through on their journey to happy ever after. Wyatt isn't sure whether he can give a relationship between them another chance, not when he's so consumed by things that happened in the past that he needs answers to before he can even consider what his future holds. Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I liked how determined she was to prove her worth and show Wyatt that she can help him in the fight when the bad guys come after them. I also liked that she was just as protective of Wyatt as he was of her. Then there's the fact that the heroine is really good at getting any information they need, which is proven when the pair need to choose who they can trust.
While Wyatt, he's been through so much in his life and has always felt disconnected from his family, because of the blame he placed on his father after what happened to his mother. However, in saying that, he's beginning to find his way back to his family and he has some big decisions to make as this story progresses. Will he be able to forgive his dad? Will he give a relationship between him and Callie another chance? Yet, what I liked most about the hero was how protective he was of Callie, especially in the moment where trouble finds them; trouble that had me on the edge-of-my-seat because it seemed Wyatt and Callie were outnumbered.
Overall, Ms. Grant has penned another sensational read in this action-packed and suspenseful third book of her Sons of Texas series where the main characters chemistry was powerful, the romance totally hot and the ending had me concerned for Wyatt and Callie, as they fight for their survival and hopefully get the answers they need to something that has bothered the hero for years. However, what I liked most about the ending is how Wyatt convinces Callie of how much he wants her in his life and then how the Loughman family and their allies all decide what they're going to do when it comes to the threats they know are going to keep coming unless they find a way to end things once and for all and make sure that the biological weapon doesn't end up in the wrong hands. I would recommend The Legend by Donna Grant, if you enjoy romantic suspense, second chance romances, or books by authors Maya Banks, Alexandra Ivy, Katie Reus or Monica McCarty.

It's clear from the first few pages that 'The Legend' doesn't function well as a standalone and because I've not read the first book and went through the second quickly, this third one left me all at sea as I struggled to keep up.
As far as I could gather, there is a bioweapon at large, a sinister group of powerful people all over the world infiltrating important government positions, and some crime family descending on a ranch to wipe out a ranching family that also happens to do black ops. And as exciting as the action could get at times, a lot of it feels very unfinished as well by the very end. It's the end of a battle though not the end of a war as it gets increasingly clear, as the bad guy is diminished but goes free.
By and large, catching up was a hugely difficult task, yet I pushed on because the drama between Wyatt and Callie was compelling enough for me to want to know what really happened between them in this second-chance romance. Yet Donna Grant does balance the action with some character development though, so apart from my incredulity of a ranching family getting hunted meticulously by several groups, it was easy enough to suspend my disbelief as Wyatt and Callie raced through Texas trying to save each other.
I loved Callie's strength and determination, though wished she'd had enough gumption to turn Wyatt away when he clearly hadn't done enough to deserve her, at least not the way he left her with deliberate words meant to scythe and hurt. That it'd taken 15 years and serious injuries before realising that his wanting to protect her from a distance was an argument never held water to begin with, it always felt as though Wyatt had a foot out the door, never being determined enough to stay for Callie despite the pages of self-recrimination that he seemed to undergo. It had to take Callie putting herself out there at every turn, right up to an obstinate declaration of love to change his mind, which was quite the last straw for me.
Frankly, I'm not quite too sure yet what to make of this book. Beyond the rather hasty, teaser-like wrap-up and the trail of destruction left behind, is this one of those endings where the couple in question finally gets together, but stare into the distance wistfully just as they prepare for war?

An awesome continuation of a riveting storyline…
This is the third book in the Sons of Texas series.
Finding his mother’s murdered body when he was a young man changed Wyatt Loughman’s path in life as well as his views on his father. All emotions were destroyed that day and he left their Texas ranch to join the service and become a cold-hearted man, a man trained to kill. Now a Colonel in the Delta Force he’s sent home along with his brothers to locate their missing father and the bioweapon stolen from the Russians. Wyatt had just one regret at leaving home, walking away from the young woman that he loved but was no longer able to and could no longer afford to love, that part of him died with his mother. Yet over the years he’s anonymously protected that woman from those who meant her harm, her criminal family. Paired with her in the continuing search finds him facing longings he’d thought buried deep, no other woman ever could compare to his Callie. Can he fight the pull of the woman she’s become?

The shadow organization that reaches into all levels of the government across the globe has men everywhere, the chance of betrayal is high. When enemies align the stakes become deadlier and decidedly personal. Amid fast paced action and suspense and continued intrigue the Loughmans defend what is theirs against what should be insurmountable odds. This is a must read if you’ve read the first two books for an explosive climax. Does it all end here? Perhaps not and this reader is dying for the more that is sure to come. The second chance romance though overshadowed somewhat by the intense plot is no less emotional for it, the characters have deep raw feelings and strong stubborn natures to combat. Things between them develop in a good progression amid all the mayhem that surrounds them. Wyatt and Callie were great protagonists.

This is the 3rd book in this series. I had not read any of the other books in the series, and whilst I did get a bit lost with previous storylines, I still found it easy enough to slip into the world and highly enjoyed it!
Wyatt has retired from the Armed Services and returned to the ranch he vowed never to return to.
But his family is under attack and it's best to concoct a plan of attack with his brothers. His father is missing after being abducted but their strained relationship meant that they hadn't been close for some time.
He never forgot Callie though. Their brief teenage relationship has been his anchor for years. He left her behind in the safety of his family from the nest of vipers that was her family.
Callie may look fragile but this girl has an inner core of steel. You'd have to to survive her family of crooks. They left her for dead when she was a teenager and she was rescued by Wyatt. But unbeknown to her he has been keeping them at a distance for years. But they are now ramping up efforts to get her back into the family and are being non too subtle about it either!
Although they have a history together I loved the slow build to passion in this story. It doesn't overtake the suspense and danger storyline but slots nicely into the timeframe. With surprising allies, Russians good and bad, bio weapons and a family that makes your stomach turn/ This is a great mix of action, adventure and romance. I loved the lead in for what I hope is the next book, after all the brothers are now sorted so time to get Dad on track to happiness!!
