Prayers on Fire: 365 Days Praying the Psalms

Rate this book
For almost three thousand years, people have prayed and sung the Psalms. Like those who have gone before us, when we are filled with joy, we will discover fuel in these ancient songs for even higher praises. And when we are going through the valley of deepest darkness, we will find in the Psalms light shining upon us, driving the shadows of doubt away.Prayers on Fire includes 365 prayers inspired by the book of Psalms from the heart-felt Passion Translation. Each day contains an excerpt from the Psalms and then a prayer from the heart, providing an expression of faith and worship for sincere worshipers. Open your heart as you open the pages of this book. Here you will find God as your shelter of strength.“As I’m hidden within your greatness, I discover your eternal purposes. In love and humility I bow before you, my awe-inspiring God. The way you watch over me, infuses me with confidence and courage. You are my source; I draw life from the waters of your love. Walking step by step with you brings me joy unlike I’ve ever known. Your Word illuminates my path, and wherever I go, I flourish. No matter the season, I’m blessed—established firmly in you.” (Inspired by Psalm 1:2)

I love a good book of prayer, and this is one. I love that it just straight in, no page after page of waffle, just straight to glorifying and begging the Lord.

No waffle their either, no pretence and diplomacy just straight talk and directly addressing th Lord and asking him to come amongst us and Gide us, heal us, draw us closer and fill our hearts with his spirit.

If you are trying to live a lie of prayer, if you want your response to everything to be prayer this is a book you can rely on for that.

When I first read these prayers, I said "I'm not there! , No Way!". But I still paged through the different days and then hit Jan 28th. I read that page and God became real to me, My imagination went soaring. I saw God the way I wished I could have gotten a glimpse of Him this way and wished I had such an imagination 40 years ago when I came to the Lord. Still some pages of prayers are too intimate for me, but I said Wow what a place to be, how can this person see God in such intimate ways? I'm glad I took a closer look at this book by Brain Simmons (passion translation author) & Gretchen Rodriguez. Getting to see some Psalm verses in such a light was eye-opening. I realized from some previous Bing searches that the Psalms is the only book written to God, it is the prayers God has given us to pray for all our situations. The psalms are the cries of our heart to God given us by His inspiration so we can ask, plead and declare this is the God we serve

Great book

This is a fantastic book of prayers. They cover a broad spectrum of topics. There is one for each day of the year. I read the prayer for the day when I do my daily quiet time. I recommend this book to all.

I did not read this in the Kindle edition but goodreads doesn't show the book format I read it in. Had many good devotions that were very uplifting. Up there with some of my favorite devotionals. I will check later in 2024 and see if they have the physical book I read and change the format then.

A fresh devotional by one of the same authors that brought us The Passion Translation New Testament, which is also the translation used for the accompanying scripture passages.
