Legacy Of Ashes

Rate this book

The year is 2137. A century has passed since oil reserves dwindled and the resource wars wiped out much of the human race. Pockets of survivors have risen in conflict, regressing the North American continent into a colonial free-for-all. Now, two cities constructed atop the ashes of the old world must forge a thousand-mile path to unite against the violent remnants of humanity who rule the dark lands between.

The destinies of four people will be tied to the fates of these two cities:

Lexi Shaw is a technology and combat security expert at a prominent tech company in sleek, modern Triangle City.

Miles Copeland is a socially invisible Triangle City government employee by day, and an anarchist by night.

Sean Stone is a contraband smuggler in smoggy, dystopian OK City.

Jenna Clark is a laser-focused, loyalty-inspiring leader of a road-clearing crew out on Old Interstate 40.

Can they withstand the entrenched corruption of this new world and ensure the two cities unite?

A tale of survivors striving to preserve the remnants of humanity plagued by violence and corruption, Legacy Of Ashes is a post-apocalyptic action/adventure that entertains while asking questions about humanity’s true nature…and its future.

This was a really good story. The characters were well developed and the story had a nice steady flow. The plot was interesting and engaging. I enjoyed the sci-fi edge to the story. Lots of interesting gadgets and inventions to fill out the unique world of the author's story. I highly recommend the book.

I started this series a few books in and loved the storyline. Now starting at the beginning I am finding the back story on many of the players. Beard may be on the short list for becoming my favorite author.

Ok action and plot, poor effort at erotica.

The blundering effort towards erotically charged passages nearly led me to a much lower rating. The story would have been better told without it, or needed more and more dynamic passages, either way would ha e worked better than the product presented. The story was good enough otherwise, but nothing special. I will not be looking for more by this author, but have not put him on my do not buy / read list. Yes, I have a personal list of authors that I know to avoid from experience. One lackluster effort is not enough to join those infamous ranks.

Post-Apocalyptic techno-thriller with heart.

How can I review this properly without giving away the story's secrets? The detailed technology in this future world is perfectly balanced and thought out for a world such as this. The multiple characters are engaging and suck you into their brutal pasts, causing you to root for their futures. It's got humor, sass, and bullets galore. Good job guys. I can't wait to read what's coming down the pipe for this world.

It's not so much what you know but whom you know.

Extroadinary events are easier to take with friends don'cha think? Imagine how empowering it is at stressful crossroads to reacquire them at a fortuitous moment in dire circumstances. Nooo! It's not luck but planned!

Not bad.

It took me awhile to get into the story, at first. It seemed to jump around a lot, from character to character, but after the initial start I couldn't put it down.

I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves survival or post-apocalyptic books.

Many POV's that gradually come together to make a well-developed dystopian tale. Looking forward to more in this universe.

Really needs an editor

Tl;dr
Perhaps an interesting concept, but i just couldn't get past the comma usage and malapropisms. And why isn't that word in Kindle's dictionary?

Science fiction thriller.
I had a hard time putting this book down.  It's a high tech, science fiction thriller with a strong plot, well-drawn and engaging characters, plenty of action, and an unexpected development at the end.  I can't wait for the next book in this intriguing new world.

I read an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

So, being the developmental editor of Legacy of Ashes, I’ve known for quite a while this novel had true potential and I couldn’t wait to see the end result. I didn’t even wait for the guys to give me a free copy, I just pre-ordered it the moment I could. And guess what, they pulled it off! It’s such a neat story, such a great world, and these characters… I can’t wait to read what they are up to next. If you’re looking for a thrilling read you won’t be able to put down, this is your book. It’s smart, funny, disturbing (in the best possible way), and it will leave you crave for more.

A very well written first volume. Well developed and thought out plot. The characterization is flawless. You really feel like you are getting to know both the main characters and the backgrounders as well. Looking forward to the next book in this series. Get this book, you won't be disappointed. The authors supplied me with an ARC and I voluntarily chose to leave a review.

An amazing book that shouldn't be missed by anyone. The book really gets into the characters and lets you know exactly what's happening. Fantastic for a first book, and a pleasure to review. Given an ARC
