Jingo: A Western Story

Rate this book
The day Jingo rode into Tower Creek, the town was busy celebrating its twentieth anniversary. The big event of the festival was a high-stakes poker game in Joe Slade’s saloon with Wally Rankin holding most of the chips. But it didn’t take long for Jingo to figure out why: Rankin was cheating. And it would only take a couple of well-placed bullets to reveal it to the others in the room.

Ok I feel like I’ve done my duty. I’ve read the 4 most popular authors of the Western genre. I’ve explored enough for now. The whole genre to me is just ok. Don’t hate it. Don’t love it. This story is just about the lengths a gunslinger goes through to get the woman he wants. It’s much more about the silly sneakiness necessary to get in the girl’s presence than it is about the typical western gunslinging shootout.

Predictable

Predictable and formulaic plot line. Dialogue was well used in many different Dime Store westerns. On the up side, it is a very quick read.

Captivating, But Not My Cup of Tea

I read and finished the story. Interesting characters and plot, but the style didn’t appeal to me despite Brands deft and unique turn of phrase.

This was a great story. Of course it has the typical boy meets girl story line. But it has much more than that! It was a good read and it speaks of deep friendship…

Very juvenile book, though a short break and a standard western plot with happy ending. Not worth reading if you have something else with more imho to read.
