So I just read this book, it's a very well written book, easy to read the layout is pretty much how I prefer to write my self, it surprised me to be honest. So what about the actual content then?
Rather quickly I gather there is something going on with Sofia, something is not quite right. That mystery surrounding her stalker ghost along with those weird dreams she has piques my intriguing interest forcing me to read on. This is at the end of the first chapter by the by.
As I continue deeper into the book I have questions, no actually I have a lot of questions! I wonder will those questions be answered as I go on, no other way to find out but to obviously continue reading. Well lo and behold, my questions got answered, perhaps not to the full extent I would have wished, but I'm not all to disappointed really.
The plot is revealed in a trickle by trickle kind of way, with each revelation a new hint is dropped. Thought I would have preferred a bit more meat on the characters, get to know them a bit better, one have to admit it's nothing to complain about considering the length of the book.
Besides don't forget it really managed to hold my interest throughout the book, and managed to intrigue me so much I will definitely do my very best to obtain the other books. Thought it can prove a tad problematic.
Redemption is a mix of everything from vampires to angels, murder to romance all rolled into one with much more. A Captivating and unique story from beginning to end and a true page Turner. Strong characters which really pulled me into the book and great descriptions. I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, Myths and legends, angels and vampires, romance and young adult books. xx
At times too captivating to allow me to appreciate the beauty of the writing, but appreciate it I did. If the best of M. Night Shyamalan and the best of Agatha Christie teamed up to write a mystery, it would be a total snooze-fest compared to Redemption.
This is one of the best vampire books I’ve ever read. Even better because I didn’t see the vampire twist coming. The story begins with Sofia, a research assistant, who has been tasked with the newest job of researching Chinese legends for her boss. During her research, she’s found a secret—a man named Stephanous—who doesn’t seem to age across pictures dated decades and centuries apart. She realizes she’s come across the secret of immortality.
Fast paced and hard to put down, Redemption twists Sofia’s entire world until everything she knows at the beginning of the story is eventually lost. Everyone has secrets and they all include her. After her sister, Lorelyn, gives her a box of her grandmother’s belongings, Sofia realizes that she is more tied to Stephanous than she ever imagined and her destiny has been written for her.
However, Sofia is left with a choice. Save herself or everyone she loves?
The author has a wonderful way of writing each scene so that I felt so bad for Sofia at the end of the story. After all the loss she suffered, I am very much excited to see where the author takes her in the next book. If you’re a fan of vampires, angels, and suspense, this is definitely a series for you!
I'm a huge fan of angels and paranormal stories. Redemption is a complicated story that weaves many different parts together, taking a long and sometimes confusing path, all the way to the end. The main character Sofia embarks on a complicated journey of self-discovery and is forced to choose her path in a jumbled and chaotic series of events. Along the way she meets Arthur and Mikie and must question not only her sanity but the truth of her friends and past in addition to solving the riddles set forth from her dreams.
I loved the romance with her soulmate and while the ending was far from what I would have guessed or wanted I can see how it will shape Sofia's future. I'm looking forward to the sequel and hoping a resolution comes forth as some of the book was just heartbreaking and devastating. An interesting supernatural suspense novel with plenty of twists and turns. I'd say this is more a beautiful tragedy than paranormal fantasy. 4 solid stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed Redemption and was hooked from start to finish. Actually, I read it in one sitting. The book is well written, with a unique plot and great characters. If you like books about angels and vampires, you will love this one. Lots of action, plot twists and romance all rolled into one. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
I read Redemption just before release, thanks to a happy set of circumstances. From the moment I opened the book, to the moment I read the final words, I essentially didn't put it down. It captured me early on, and I loved the twists and turns along the way. TLDR: This is an amazing book; READ THE BOOK! =D ***SPOILERY GOODNESS*** I honestly didn't expect the angel reveal and I cannot say how much I loved the different take on it all. If you enjoy fast-paced, romantic, and well-written books, you're gonna love this one. Highly recommend!

From the opening paragraph, my interest was piqued. I love a good puzzle. Evidently, so does Sofia! She is intriguing and likeable, without the typical tropes and helpless-female idiocies. I like the philosophical questions both asked and answered within this tale. While I’m not a huge fan of the normal vampire romance tale, this was well-executed and held my interest. The character of Selaphiel was my favorite in terms of a foil. A thoroughly enjoyable read, and I look forward to the others in the series.
Sofia has a love of history and delights in exploration of the past. How tempting it is when she finds clues of the existence of an immortal being who has witnessed the tribulations and strides of yesteryear firsthand?
But supposing the immortal in question might not want to be found? And what if there are others of their eternal fraternity who are none too keen to have their existence revealed to the wider world?
The reader follows Sofia as more strangers insert themselves into her life. Who are they really? What is their agenda? And for that matter, what strange facts arise about Sofia’s own past?
While romance is not my genre, the element I found most compelling was wondering who was who in the conspiracies that surround her, and what role they have in mind for her to play.
When writing historically-inclined novels, nothing beats well-done research, a supernatural flair and page-turning plot twists--all of which are present in “Redemption.”
Obsessed with finding the mysterious man she calls Stephanous, historical research assistant Sofia Adams had no idea that her search would lead her to far more than just the keys to immortality. Nadja Baer's novel Redemption begins when Sofia's boss assigns her what seems to be a pointless wild goose chase, but winds up leading her to a world filled with angels, vampires, and destiny. Character Analysis: Sofia is, of course, the main protagonist. Her parents died when she was young leaving her and her sister, Lorelyn, to be raised by their grandmother who is long gone by now. Sofia works for a History Professor who seems to be rather scattered, picking up projects to quickly move on to the next. He uses Sofia as his researcher and ghostwriter for his many books. I enjoyed watching how she goes about uncovering the mystery of Stephnous. It was almost like a detective and I thought that this was a unique approach. However, I had a very complicated relationship with this character. I loved her, then I hated her. And around and around we went. More about this later.
Lorelyn is very different than Sofia, who is an introverted homebody. She is lively, outgoing, and doesn't understand her sister's almost antisocial ways. Her importance to the story does not seem clear until the end, leaving you to wonder about Lorelyn and Sofia's connection.
Miki is probably one of my favorite characters. Before you jump down my throat, let me explain and I will try to do this without giving too much away. Yes, he's a bit annoying. Yes, he may or may not be a suspicious character. Yes, he's probably made some terrible mistakes in the past. Yet, at the end of the day he's really the only character who's there to help when help is needed. Plus, he has a fun side-kick quality to him.
Nefriti is the librarian "friend" who helps refer Sofia to some books to aid her in the search for the mysterious Stephanous. She's an interesting one, you never really know whose side she's on.
Stephanous is the man Sofia is obsessed with finding. She happened to run into him in photographs and he kept popping up in different centuries, seemingly immortal. Does she find him? Is he really immortal? These questions and more are discovered and explored in this adventure.
Arthur, the cute guy that seems to be everywhere and nowhere all at the wrong place, wrong time. Her boss takes Sofia off a project and transfers it to this new guy which has never happened. Who is he? Is he her replacement? How can she protect her job while falling head over heals with him at the same time? Their relationship becomes complicated, but yet very compelling and is one of the main things that kept me turning the pages.
My Thoughts on the Story: I really loved how this story incorporated angels, vampires, even reincarnation, and the desire to do good. I really respected Sofia for wanting to find out who the good guys were instead of making assumptions. It gave the story more depth and allows the reader to explore every aspect of this new world. Though this story had really great aspects to it, there were a couple of things I did find a bit disappointing. This story seems to contradict the whole "two wrongs don't make a right". In fact, two of Sofia's wrongdoings seem to make a right quite often! This was extremely frustrating. I was also not a fan of how Sofia seems to be easily manipulated by everyone around her. When she finally decides to do something for herself, it leads her to betraying the people that care about her the most. But I guess that's life, right? Sometimes what we think is right, actually turns out to do more harm than good. That's what makes this book relatable. The story is very compelling from the start and it makes you empathize with the tough situations Sofia is put in.
Overall, this book is a very good read. The action, mystery, plot and all of the little clues sprinkled throughout the pages kept me turning the book. At each point I thought I'd figured the story out, I stumbled upon yet another plot twist. Once you start reading this book, you really can't put it down. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of this book!

“Redemption” is a story that I enjoyed immensely not only because of the riveting plot but because I instantly connected with the main heroine - Sofia. Sofia and I just clicked right away and from that point on, I became deeply invested into what was happening around her, and let me tell you, she certainly found herself in the thick of it. An intelligent and independent historian, she discovers a strange phenomenon: a man who appears to have discovered a key to immortality. His familiar face taunts her from the WW2 pictures, Civil War pictures, medieval paintings, and ancient sculptures. In the middle of her investigation, Sofia realizes that the conspiracy could be much more sinister and dangerous than she thought, but her inquisitive mind just wouldn’t let her give up her search so easily… The story is so intriguing that I actually skipped dinner while reading it because I just couldn’t tear my eyes off my kindle. The tension, the age-old mystery, the possibility of the impossible - all these aspects made “Redemption” a truly fabulous read! I’ll definitely be picking up book two in the series. Five stars!
A fast read. Well-written and smooth as butter to cruise through as the protagonist Sofia finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy. She, a historical research assistant, is intelligent and independent. When mystery turns metaphysical the story continues to work as fantastical themes enter: angels, vampires, and karmic fate play into the plot. When the character, Stephanous, enters the pages of the story the mystery and storyline conflict/tension rises. In addition to the protagonist and Stephanous, the characters are well cast to add richness to the story: her shy sister Lorelyn, the helpful librarian Nefriti, the attractive Arthur, her boss who becomes a victim of a crime in the story, etc. And when the later happens the action heightens with wondering if Sofia will be next. No spoilers here but suffice it to say our protagonist is not a one dimensional person playing against an antagonistic cast, no she has her issues that brought authenticity to her. That gave depth to the read. Very enjoyable!
This book takes an interesting approach on angels, demons and vampires, that is rather refreshing. The story of the girl Sofia, the research assistant looking for a prof of immortality, to the woman she becomes finding it, is slow paced but it keeps you turning the next page in hopes that you will understand things better. Being the first book of the series it’s expected for the readers to have lots of questions while trying to puzzle out all the twists and turns the protagonist takes. It only makes us more eager to read the next book.
Adding the aspect of soulmates with the tragic twist alongside the sad past and nonexistent future, only compliments this dark fantasy. The characters are three dimensional and easily likable, even some of the villains that you would like to hate. I truly enjoyed reading this book and will definitely recommend it for lovers of paranormal stories.
I am looking forward to see where the story will take Sofia next!
Redemption begins as a story about a research assistant who discovers a person who defies time throughout history. Even as Sofia unravels the mystery of Stephanous’ longevity, Sofia’s life becomes more complicated as new people enter into her life. Unearthly voices begin to direct her, yet the instructions are more confusing than ever. Not only does this issue cause her to distrust the people closest to her, she also has to worry about keeping her only living relative, her sister Lorelyn, safe from the dangers which are now surrounding her. The entry of the supernatural elements are woven into the story expertly, making you believe something of this sort could be happening in the world around us. This is a fascinating glimpse into the world of angels and vampires.
A unique take on the paranormal genre. This book has angels, vampires, reincarnation, immortality, romance, action, and tragedy. A good mix, right? Sofia, a 20 something research assistant uncovers the existence of an immortal man who appears in photos throughout decades without aging at all. Her search to uncover the truth about this man gets her involved with some seriously paranormal things and puts her life (and those she loves) in great peril. This was a fun read that left me wanting more.
Excellent Paranormal. This book was awesome! It had vampires, angels, reincarnation, and twists I didn’t see coming. I liked that the characters were so well fleshed-out, especially Sofia and her sister who are basically polar opposites. There is a strong mystery element to the story as Sofia not only tracks down Stephanous, but she learns along the way that not everyone is really her friend. Her journey brings her to the point where she has to make a disturbing choice. An excellent paranormal which was exciting and well written.
This book pulled me in from the very beginning. Sophia is a fun, quirky, stronger-than-she-realizes woman struggling to figure out the mystery of a man who moves through the ages. I adore Sophia's voice throughout the entire story. She makes some incredible discoveries about herself and others.
This book is a love story, a good versus evil story, and a story of righting the wrong of the past all rolled into one big ball of fun. Highly recommend and look forward to reading the next in the series!
This was a very well written novel. For the genre, it was very original. It's not like any vampire or angel story you've ever read. Every character is multifaceted and well developed. The plot is strong with many twists and turns. The only thing I didn't like was some plot choices that made the ending less than happy. But I know there are more books so I'll be reading to see if Sofia and Arthur get their happy ending.
The amount of complexity in this novel surprised me. So many twists, so many emotions and even more questions. It's difficult to put the book down and I have to be honest I don't really read this genre so if I say it - you should try it. For me a book with a female lead immediately gets attention. Add to it her complexity and intelligence and you got me. It's well written, it's strong, the characters are deep and interesting.
A page turning, attention grabbing story with excellent plot, Redemption written by Nadja Baer. Interesting book, I enjoyed reading - discovering a love story, with soul mates, death and betrayal. An interesting read, which slowly revealed vampires both good and bad and a lot of history to keep us entertained. I cannot wait until I can download the next book in the series. Thoroughly recommend.
Well worth the stars! This novel is well written, well edited and have just the right amount of action! I enjoyed the characters and the building of a complex story. The author creates a paranormal world with many twists and much suspense. The ending leaves you begging for a different conclusion and a need to see if yours desires will be granted in book 2. Definitely a must read novel for all paranormal readers!!
This is one of those books I'm glad I read but the ending...Tragic is the word. Lots of twists and turns in this one. There are places where you may want to slow down to make sure you didn't miss anything. And the cast of characters is more than intriguing, they are riveting. Don't start it until you have the time to finish or it will be a late night.
Loved it. From the lovingly sculpted characters to the witty internal dialogue of the heroine, really well written and cleverly planned out. Packed full of bitesize treats that keep you coming back for more, the pace is such that you never feel overworked even though there is plenty to grab your attention. Well worth adding to your bookshelf!
Hmmm. An interesting story and plot but it was very slow and confusing as it unfolded. Still thinking about whether or not I could cont bye with this series
