After the costly victory against the Titans, Iacon is in shambles and Starscream finds himself on shakier ground than ever. There is one and ONLY ONE reason I am rating this lower..........the addition of the Annual at the end, the series' supposed "ending". In all honesty, I think the series could have ended where it was without the Annual--the Annual felt as if it were "added on" because we "needed" to see Windblade triumph over Starscream at the end. I was personally of the mind that Starscream and Windblade would've made good partners (Conjunx Endura) than the elections and their turnout........and the fact that Windblade threatened Starscream with the revelation of all his dark doings was very unlike her in character/personality. I don't think she makes a good leader for Cybertron and everything that has gone on since then has just proven they've altered her personality to suit the new role. But where the plot goes after this does not matter much, as IDW is being forced to reboot their universe anyhow.
Greetings from the future! I have traveled back in time to let everyone know that this collected edition which is as of yet does not exist is absolutely fantastic! It's either that or I read the issues as they came out. You decide which scenario is more plausible.
Man, what a freaking ending. I truly hope this isn't the last we see of this duo because Scott's writing and Sara's art could carry me through several years of pretty much any comic universe. Are you listening Marvel/DC? Get on this! Scott gives Starscream legitimate pathos and allows Windblade to be something other than a city speaker. In the process, both characters have become more than they ever were before. Gigantic kudos for an outstanding piece of giant robot fiction to all involved.
Starscreams character arc that started in Robots in Disguise #1 has finally came to and end (or at least a checkpoint) and honestly it's bitter sweet, yet satisfying. His final transformation (no pun intented) is a bit rushed and sudden, but otherwise wonderfully done.
Not much to say about Windblade. She always was a pretty boring character, in my opinion, a goody-two-shoes with not much to say. Here the writers started exploring her a bit more, she finally stood up for herself and what she wants. Right now, I'm not sure if I like her a lot. She's surely MORE interesting than she was before, but she's still not interesting enough.
As one of the other reviews said, this was mostly carried by Starscream.
Now, for the art: Sara Pitre-Durocher instantly became one of my favourite artists after these volumes. Nuff said.
I underestimated the quality of this series. Pitre-Durocher gives fresh clear lines and easily decipherable characters, with bold city scapes and her expressions colour the intrigue in Scott's tale which relishes the stormy sea of heroism and scoundrelism of it's central character. After an action film second act, the book returns to political devilry and finds it's resolution in the end of arcs that are natural, premature and surprisingly all at once. A great reminder that James Roberts' crew don't hold the monopoly on bar-lifting TF stories.
Leaps and bounds ahead of the other recent Cybertron-based volumes that spawned from what was the 'Robots In Disguise' series. This finally punches its weight and returns to what made this series so good in the past. The momentous character development given to Starscream, the likes of which not seen since 'All Hail Megatron', is the driving force behind this volume's success, and something that's been long overdue considering his overall staleness since becoming Cybertron's leader.
Windblade->Combiner Wars->Distant Stars->TAAO is a super fufilling reading experience. The art is constantly beautiful, the characters move emotionally from A to B to C, and cybertron itself establishes a peaceful status quo never before seen in this cannon. All Transformers IDW 2005-2018 continuity fans will appreciate TAAO for its art, world building, and well-rounded characters (not a hint of MTMTE's flanderization to be seen here).
This was a great end to the series! Till All Are One takes place on Cybertron and stars Windblade and Starscream. It is mostly about poat-war Cybertronian politics, which I love. It kinda took the place of the earlier Robots in Disguise series (which became the story that takes place on Earth starring Optimus Prime) in that regard. I think Till All Are One did a much better job at the political stories.
this gets five stars for a brillaint premise and execution that surprised me greatly and i throughly ejoyed. this political slant pf the transformers is evenmore interesting then the war and its filling out of the transformers world. politics, intrigue, character and intrigue.brill
I really, really like what IDW's current writers have done with Starscream. He's gone from a fairly one-dimensional schemer to easily one of the most complex and fascinating characters in the series.
A fairly good final volume of the Windblade/Cybertron side of the IDW Transformers universe, making good use of the threads established in the previous volume. I certainly wasn't expecting the ending - didn't know they had it in them! (B+)
