I rarely finish self-help book. Last self-help I finished was "Open-Eyed Meditation" by Shubha Vilas, and I loved it. "Happiness Is All We Want" by Ashutosh Mishra has touched the same level. Not only I liked the book, I started implementing few of the guidelines given in books.

Talking about book pattern, Ashutosh has divided book into three parts:
1) Mental Wellbeing
2) Physical Wellbeing
3) Spiritual Wellbeing

Each section starts with what is wrong with that state in our life, why we need to work on it. Once need of wellbeing explained, he takes you through various exercises or steps one should take to increase your overall happiness. The author knew the main problem about self-help book, no matter how hard you try, you end up writing boring literature if you forget to add examples and tips. Ashutosh has wonderfully placed following pointers in book to keep readers glued
1) Wakeup Story - As the name suggested, these stories looks so familiar with our story or some of our near-dear ones. But scariest part would be problem arises to each individual, due to lack of attention.
2) Happiness Moment - These stories compensate wake-up stories and tell readers benefits of various recommendations by the author.
3) Tech Traps - These segments were specially given for modernized people who are so engrossed in their tech-gadget world that normal word seems distant to them.
4) Smart Well-being Capsule (SWC) - Actual steps that one should take for his or her wellbeing.
5) Practical Tips - Tips for most of the advises and how to follow them without losing direction
Few positive things that I liked about book
- The author has kept theories at minimum possible level. All those low tempo points were supported by above mentioned one of five segments.
- Being an individual and following his own regime, Ashutosh knew his limit. At many points, he recommended expert advice to follow specific task.

Only things that I disliked was font size, it was straining eyes at some points. Author and publisher can look into this for next edition.

The mind is hard to control and it wanders endlessly. The rush is continuous and there is hardly any stopping. This is where books like Happiness is All we Want come in rescue.

A professionally written work that gives mental peace and makes you ponder on your life. The techniques described in this book are worth implementing in your routine.

Divided in 3 sections: Mind, Body and Soul, the well-being of all these entities is a necessity in today's speedy world.

This is a kind of self-help book that will help the readers to introspect their life and choices.

Summary:

The author of this book has a successful career in banking and while tackling with the tight schedule he was lucky to realize the importance of health. Through this book, he has tried to presents all the techniques and tips which he has accumulated over the span of a decade.

This book is divided into three section Mind, body, and soul. These are three main elements of our appearance, thought process, success, life, and health.

Further, these section divides into sub-section where he first started about the problem, its causes and how can we tackle it. The sections are beautifully adorned with topics like tech traps, happiness moment, practical tips and most impressive Smart well-being capsule (SWC). We met various SWC throughout the book.

In mind section, he has focused to tell why our mind is restless? Why it behaves like a monkey? How can we trap this monkey? Which techniques can calm our mind? How can we concentrate more on something? How can we attain the first step of well-being by preparing our mind in a positive way?

The second section is about the body, which is responsible for appearance. The author has interestingly written about what you should eat to make your body healthy? When should you start taking care of your body? Why should you take care of your body? Why does exercise fail? How can you add a healthy regimen in your day-to-day life? Here again, he has given some truly practical tips which are really helpful to all of us.

The last section dedicates to the inner well-being i.e. to find the inner happiness and recognizing the soul. This is the last yet superior attainment of well-being which can be gain only through patience and dedication. This is the most beautiful section. The author has beautifully written about the soul and why it is important to find inner happiness to be content in life? Which technique should you follow? How sometimes spiritual healing works wonder?

With these three sections, the author has presented the whole formula of happiness.

My perception:

Recently my fiancé suffered from high acidity, which altered into panic disorder. He has always been a healthy eater with a regular regime of exercise but the unexpected tension and no home cooked food take a toll on his health. It took more than a week to stabilize his condition. So, this book literally came in my hand on a right time. I have already told him various tips of this book to regain his health. Coming to this book, I really feel lucky to read this book. This book is very professionally written and you can see the dedication of the author from the first page. There are many techniques mention in the book, which I already know but do not feel the importance to implement in my life. This book is a perfect reminder to give some attention to our well-being and health. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to live a healthy life. A must read!

This book is spiritual, and the author has tried to relate the problems to spiritual solutions. These may be not a solution for everyone, however, many can relate and find them useful. The way this book has been written is affected by examples from the writer’s homeland (India) and the spiritual approach appears in many parts of the book. If you don’t have a previous background in meditation and yoga or spirituality, this book may add positively to your lifestyle. As a spiritual person, he has highlighted many problems which are common these days like the ego and the autopilot mode.
It puts hands on these problems and highlights their effect on our lives and how they can destruct our lifestyle and happiness. Some points mentioned related to the ego are obvious. But they are ignored and not treated. I found this book point indirectly to the being in the now as a solution for many problems. Since I tried this approach before it was helpful and life-changing. The practical tips inside each chapter were good and help to simplify the solution and how to implement them into our lives. There is a wish list in chapter two, I found it realistic and, may apply to many of us (I do not want to spoil it LOL).
Part two of this book talks about the physical health and how to improve it. I am sure many will love this part more than part one since this problem is common these days. The cover and name was nice and simple and related to the content. I found few editorial mistakes. But they were minor and do not affect the material provided. Also, I found some parts not related to the subject ,so kind of felt the reading was long and slow paced. However not all the time.
Final words :
You can say that it offers solid info and highlights many realistic issues related to us. However, it did not offer a comprehensive solution to some of them. The book was easy to read and you can finish it in one day. Because the language is simple and the way the book written make it fast-paced. You will find many answers. It will help you find the problem and offer you some help. But if you want a more thorough solution, you can refer to other sources that the author has quoted.

Reading self-help books are hard to graze by for me. But I was mildly surprised at how this book kept me alert and observant without drawling on the edges of being pedantic. The book quite aptly focuses on the three pivotal vehicles for a happy state of being, mainly mental, physical & spiritual. The author has quite clearly rendered a fresh perspective on the meaning of happiness in life and how to strive to achieve that state of being. The ideas, tools and techniques stated in the book caught my interest and riveted me pages after pages. The learning can be applied in one’s daily life only if we take time to learn, absorb and practice the useful tips shared by the author.

A shadow of THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI...!

The book is more of a life guide to being happy written in a comprehensive way rather than a simple motivational self-help book.. the book talks about how the three major factors of our life Mind, body and soul work and what problems each one of them go through and how to deal with those problems which ultimately results in our all round Happiness...

Author has very conveyed the message of being happy taking most of the everyday examples into consideration and also has given a simple yet effective solution to each one of the problems that emerge on the way of achieving the state of happiness.

The books more or less seems to be a shadow of the most famous book THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI, but has its better at most of the points... The language has been a little uneasy to comprehend at a quick read but delivers the message in a beautiful words nonetheless... All in all its a great self-help book and worth a read for everyone who wants to achieve the state of happiness...!

Great book to finding yourself and be happy!

I was given this book by Book Tasters in exchange for an honest review.

It is a great book, well written and full of solid recommendations. Easy to read and follow, the structure makes sense too. It is based on an integral well-being: mental, physical and spiritual.

The author gives practical tips, which I found useful, throughout the book. I don’t want to explain his findings, but it’s if you are in need of a change this is your book. Perhaps the book is not approachable to the everyday Joe, but it could easily be adapted to any situation.

One thing I would love to point out is that the author took the time to do research and the book is well thought.

If you apply this book to your life it will help you find yourself and achieve happiness. But, the bottom line is the book won’t make miracles, you have to be willing to do the work and accept change.

Got this through Just Books' Giveaways. Took me way longer to finish than had expected. Left me mildly irritated at the smugness with which the author tells us what to do with our lives. Completely lacking in insights, 'HIAWW' falls in the category of books written under the misconception of having something original to say. Mishra's take on various topics, from physical well-being to spiritual pursuits, is superficial at best, blatantly wrong at the worst (As a sample, read his supremely misleading interpretation of the Hindu concept of selflessness, which he confuses with philanthropy.) And what's with the gratuitous (and erroneous) use of commas throughout? A large, part of, this book is, filled with, sentences such as, the one you, just read. Comma-diarrhea, eh?

If I have to classify the genre of this book, I would place it between somewhere Self-help and spiritual, but yet a page turner.Usually self help books or spiritual books are good to understand but difficult to apply, which is not the case with this book. The author has described wonderfully how we perceive happiness and go after it, while it is not what makes us happy. In this world of high competition and ambitions, we have forgotten to define what we actually desire. The author also mentions a wide variety of effective tools and techniques for mental , physical and spiritual well being in a very simpler way.
Few of these tools, I have experienced myself to be very effective, for example, Pranayama - It had helped me a lot when I was preparing for government competitive exams and was under immense stress. I still continue to do pranayama for peace and patience (also for glowing skin ). The author has divided the book in 3 parts - Mental Well being, Physical Well being and Spiritual Well being, which helps in understanding in much easier way. I loved how the author have taken few ideas from Indian philosophy while explaining the functionalities of mind, body, and soul. I would say, the author has amazingly decoded use of ancient Indian philosophy in today's world, how ancient tools like yoga etc can be implemented to have a happy healthy life in today's world. The author gives little little incidents as happiness moments which happens to us but we overlook them as happiness, how a meet with long last friend and his family can bring you joy and what I would call is time travel to your old days. You can call this book as guide of how to live happy and healthy, as the author literally has given practical tips to follow, tech traps of today's world, well being/ness story for better understanding, happiness moments which we should actually look for, And also 'Things to ponder' & ''Things to do' at the end of every chapter.
The very first 'Things to do' part of this book is what I loved the most, that I have literally painted and posted on my bedroom wall , which is as follows -
♡ - Capture and value small moments of happiness every day.
♡ - Set aside an hour at least, everyday, exclusively for yourself.
♡ - Be happy with and thankful for what you have today, while working to achieve more.
The last sentence, what I feel is universal truth, dissatisfaction is the greatest reason for all the unhappiness.

I am not a big fan of self-help books. My first attempt at this genre was with a book so popular a few years ago! It was everywhere, in mass-media, on TV, literary everywhere. I read it and I ended up being so disappointed and even offended (what is the author doing? Manipulating?). So I stopped, until I started this blog and was lucky to discover one author from whose book I’ve learned a lot.

Now, reviewing my third one, I am so happy I have not given up because „Happiness Is All We Want” by Ashutosh Mishra is extremely useful. It is a good book if you need something to pick you up and give you some direction, it has great advices, great examples and has the proper „voice” to give you an impulse.

The book is divided into three parts that are meant to cover all aspects of wellbeing: mental, physical and spiritual. All these parts are accompanied by stories and tips on how to accomplish happiness on these levels and also how to stick with the plan. For me, all these were very useful, especially because I am starting new things and I need to keep my spirits up. So I could not have come at a better moment!

Whether you are facing challenging times or a life altering decision, Ashutosh Mishra’s book is great to read. But even if this is not the case, „Happiness Is All We Want” is a great experience and will shed light on many items. There is always something to improve in our lives and in ourselves and this book is perfect for that as well. I do hope you will give it a try. Because of some formatting issues, I will go with 4 stars, but from a content point of view, I am all in! Enjoy 🙂

This book is self-help book that is divided into three parts, Physical wellbeing, Mental wellbeing, Spiritual wellbeing. The author has described very well about how we can find happiness even in bad circumstances, how we have to deal with different situations and be happy. There are various scenarios described by the author where he guides on how we will find happiness. Adding stories gave this book a new shape as you won't find it boring. We can easily connect to this book from wherever we start. This book deals with various aspects of modern life. How we can start a healthy life in this chaos. There are many theories and techniques that author has shared which is helpful to improve our lives and find happiness. It's all about self-esteem, confidence, self-love, and happiness.
Another thing I liked is Simple language. the author has written very effectively and in simple language that one can connect to the book Instantly. It's more of a practical book that deals with our day to day difficulties that we face.

It's my first self-help read and I loved it. The only thing that I disliked is font size. It was really difficult to read but it was worth a read.

Happiness Is All We Want – ASHUTOSH MISHRA
I have never completed reading a self-help book this fast, I think this book relates with every individual out their…in different stages and aspects of life.

“Today, we are leading our lives in mindless pursuit, unable even to articulate what we are pursuing. We are unhappy even after achieving what we desire. Happiness is all we want!” – the author have done a great job in telling how this happens in our everyday life, this book presents life as it actually is and rather than the preaching and giving sermons tell you how little effort can change the way we deal with day to day life thus changing the overall picture.

The book is divided in three parts, covering numerous attributes of physical, mental and spiritual state of humans, serves different practical tools and techniques to attain peace and happiness in a wholesome way and towards the end it seamlessly combines the three - physical, mental and the spiritual wellness as a way out of the conundrum.

A big applaud to the author for the way he have penned the biggest of things in life, and make it seem like a cake walk with the well needed practical tools.

It's a very vital read. 💡

In the hustle and bustle of life, in trying to make a living we have sacrificed more than our time and skill.

We have probably lost consciousness of our spiritual nature, mental wellness and physical health and fitness. For this reason even when we achieve some level of success materially happiness still eludes us.

The Happiness we seek is only achievable when we are balanced in this variety of areas, in order words we cannot sacrifice one area for another and hope to achieve happiness.

This book brings to our consciousness this fact and teaches us practically how to attain a balance in all these areas and to find our self in that happiness we all really desire.

A self help book focussing on the different aspects of happiness, mental , physical and spiritual. In particular the section on physical well being is well researched, having information on how the body reacts to different forms of exercise and the possibility of injuries. It also provides an overview of the different meditation and other traditional methods like pranayama, vipassana , yoga, keeping calm and the importance for finding time for oneself . Many of the techniques like vipassana are mentioned in the media, however this book explains these methods in great detail. This book has been written by a busy finance professional and is very relevant to those who lead a similar hitech and hectic lifestyle, travelling regularly.

Happiness is all we want

As the title suggests, the book signifies in seeking happiness basically via some stories & ways suggested by which we can make our lives better, rather than a predictable, dramatic or boring.
The concept given here is logical, relatable & only we hold the key to happiness.

The book retaliates things in a very effective way, giving tips as how to ascertain a happy life, mind, body & soul. What I liked about the book is it gives tips in the form of a personal guide to maintain proper life-style & a balance between career & life! Its a good self-help genre book.

What I didn't like about the book is, its way too monotonous. The lackadaisal approach with narration & storytelling gets amplified with the unnecessarily dragging of the content of the book which makes it really uneasy & painful to read.
And the presentation could have been much better. It feel like as if the readers aren't reading a nonfiction self-help genre book, but rather a documented presentation or journey or thesis or document which makes the reading experience quite disappointing!

An overall onetime read!

Happiness is All We Want by Author Ashutosh Mishra, is a self-help book that focus on attaining Happiness and Peace by first working on overall wellbeing which includes- Physical, Mental and Spiritual Wellbeing. Author has presented very useful techniques for physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. These techniques explained are easy to follow in our busy lives and these simple techniques can bring a big change. To explain these techniques author has skillfully put all his knowledge in this book. Author used the personal anecdotes and have also shared small anecdotes of people who suffered and recovered by following these useful techniques. I enjoyed reading the experiences and examples he shared.

Our busy modern life, brings changes in lifestyle which may be harmful and leads to personal neglect. Author says, personal neglect is growing at an alarming rate which needs to be addressed seriously. He also says that we are always running to achieve one milestone after other and neglect our personal development. He also explains that these milestones we want to achieve are a mirage, though an important external motivator.

Suggested useful and practical tips and methods in this book motivated me to work on my physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. This book taught me how to take out some time to work on my personal growth and how small techniques given in the book can become part of my everyday routine and how can they benefit me in the long run. I already started doing few things based on author's advice immediately after reading the book. One such is making wishlist and it's revision everyday. Then making exercise part of my day, mindfulness in every activity, taking out time for me, including meditation and reading spiritual books. It is very important to focus on spiritual well-being to attain a peaceful state and balanced soul.

RATING: 5/5.

I would strongly recommend this book to all my readers. I would like to thank author for writing this great book that inspired me to find real happiness inside me by following SWC (Smart Well-being Capsules ). Afterall, Happiness Is All We Want. :)

Book Name: Happiness Is All We Want!
Author Name: Ashutosh Mishra
Format: Paperback
No of Pages: 203
Publisher: Bloomsbury India (9/1/2017)
Blurb: The blurb portion of the book is very neat and compactly written, of course highlighting the core prospect of this book. With presenting some specific points, even the blurb only is enough to reflect the importance of this book. So, it has been written aptly indeed.
Cover: The front cover of the book is significantly good and eye catching. As it is justifying the title of the book accurately, so the cover is appealing I can say. Good one from Shutterstock!
Title: The title of the book is well enough capable of grabbing the attention of the reader. I am saying this, because it will ring a bell in the reader’s mind about what the contents of the book can be; and when it comes to happiness, any person would surely love to pick this one up at least once, even out of curiosity also. On the other side, it is completely depicting the substance of this book (and the purpose of this book as well!), hence I consider this appropriate.
Language & narration: Author has written this book and elaborated everything in simple lucid language to comprehend, yet providing authentic words to notice, which made the book a classy one to read (it’s just one factor, many more to come). Narrating the processes and maintaining the points with exact specific information is the biggest strength of the book I can say; because, when someone is reading any self help book or self motivational content, then it is entirely depends on the narrating style of the author to keep the attention / interest of the reader intact with the book till the end-in this aspect, author Ashutosh Mishra is completely successful here.
Plot: As the core purpose of the book is to help people find the source of the actuall happiness by connecting themselves with their inner soul; thus they can unlock the key to everlasting happiness and well being of body, mind & soul, so, it was very much needed to describe the points while elaborating them in every possible way by dividing them into small understandable parts. The author has concentrated in this part and thus made this plot really meaningful and actually successful one to be crafted.
Characterization: Well, author has not portrayed any character here (because it is not a story that is being narrated), but here in the book, while presenting some solutions and justifying them with the help of any personal experiences of his own or any friend, or familiar person, he has mentioned some real life characters that he was in touch with or contacted to share life experiences of had any interactions regarding this book; I can get you familiar with their names (their contribution in this book has the most effective impact to fulfill the purpose of this book)- Mr. Kashyap, Tina, Rajnish Kumar, Abhinav Suri, Vikas Goel, Dr. Robert Waldinger, Maya Jennifer, Sundeep Sikha, Dr. Roma Parikh, Paritosh Pandit, Ms. Vatsala, Manisha, Ruchhita Kazaria (the editor of the book as well), Jatin, Sumedha, Rachna Goel, Mathew, Kavita, Manoj, Susan Jamieson, Sukanya, Xavier Ligot, Ramanjeet, Harbans Singh Arora, Ashwini Kumar Hooda, Chandra, Shri S. N. Goenka, Jai Shankar Jha, Ajay Rastogi.
Theme: Self-help, self motivational, personal development.
Contents & My Verdict: As I mentioned earlier, this book is not just any self help book, but it has the key to happiness within that can unlock the door of everlasting well being, mental peace with a content bright life to lead. The actual purpose of the book is to reach the inside own self and find the depth of the meaning of life. I will come to the details of the book gradually, but let me say one thing first that this book has everything that one needs to know for becoming genuinely happy, and good human being to be around. This book has been divided into 3 parts basically and total 16 chapters to cover. But I would like to say that do not judge this book by its length, because the depth it has won’t be measurable. The first part is describing everything about mental well being of a person, the second part is describing about the physical well being of a person and the 3rd section of the book is solely concentrated into the spiritual exploration and well being of a person. Combination of these three makes a person complete and prosperous. The points are not only being described as step by step to follow, but practical exercises and real life experiences of the author himself and some other well established successful personalities who themselves are the prolific examples of how the methods and contents of this book are actually fruitful and significant. Their ‘Well being’ stories are enough to justify everything. Every chapter ends with a “Things to ponder – Things to do” section where the summarize points are listed in brief for the readers. Besides of this, the factor “Cause & Effect” are continuously followed while describing every aspect of happiness. “Tech Trap” section in the chapters are the eye opener for everybody. Most importantly “SWC” (Smart Well being Capsule) is the key to focus thoroughly in the entire book.
This book teaches us about the actual meaning of happiness, happiness moments, perspective of life & happiness, working with metal & physical well being (author’s grandfather’s example to be noticed), tool of happiness- body, mind & soul, hazards in modern life (stress, anxiety). We live in such era where, our main happiness is comfort, luxury and a lavish lifestyle to show off, all we are in the rat race to give our spouse and family members a well comfortable life to live. We are so busy occupying to chase this ‘projected happiness’, that the actual happiness which belongs to little things of heart and mind always got unnoticed and thus we continue to chase our never ending demands and life goes on. Luxuries can give us primary comfort but not the happiness that will stay with our life forever. For that, we need to be healthy by our mind to understand happiness, by our body to fit and fine, so that we can enjoy the essence of happiness and by soul, thus we can submit everything from the source we belong to. Consequences of modern life, perils, how we are becoming materialistic, addicted to gadgets, giving unnecessary stress to our body & mind, and affecting our beautiful life in every way, has been described in detail. Tackling & controlling mind, capturing value of small moments, how our mind works, positivity, making wish lists for different purpose, setting goal in mind & expectations, controlling anger, quality of relationships, controlling over thinking & stress, importance of prayers, working on our body, diet control, Yoga practicing, Pranayam, giving attention to the home food ingredients, what to feed the body and when, how, what not, regular activity to control calorie, benefits of physical exercises, brisk walking, cardio exercises, swimming, giving up bad habits, spiritual exploration of soul, self healing, concept of Karma & rebirth, (Tina’s story here, I found most important to know), difference between self & ego, understanding the fears of mind, path to spiritual cleansing, strength of mind, selfless actions, techniques for spiritual advancement, meditation, everything has been elaborated in the book.
Lastly, I will say that, it is completely depending on us, how to change our life towards better; so if we want to be happy, we need to make efforts by ourselves. Collaboration of many such little efforts will bring the actual happiness that you all deserve to have. So, get yourself ready, push yourself and make your soul happy…because ultimately……happiness is all we want…
My favorite Quote: “If you don’t take care of your business, someone else will
If you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will!”
Recommendation: I would definitely love to recommend this book to each and every single person I know or everyone, because I believe that the book is containing such things that (if properly followed) can not only just bring happiness in the life of the reader, but it will also change the way of living in a better way, thus the person should cherish the joy of happiness throughout the entire life span and live with a clean, positive and fruitful well being of mind & body. Everyone should opt for this book, and I don’t think that anyone would regret this choice; rather, they will cherish it surely. Thank you.
Rating (Overall): 5/5 Stars.

"Happiness Is All We Want" by Ashutosh Mishra is a self-help book, based on physical, mental and spiritual well-being in all, of which happiness is a part of.

The book is very well described and has also great examples and stories for us to better understand the concepts he has talked about. The book describes everything in detail.

First he talks about the needs to humans in that particular spectrum and then further focuses on how to implement the procedures for better life and well-being.

I would highly recommend this book to each and everyone of you reading this review. It's not just a book which one can simply turn pages and read and finish it off. It's a book which needs to be taken time to read and then implemented at the same time.

The health, wealth, success, influence, progress and general outstandingness promised by adhering to the prescriptions for happiness seem exhausting; but the advice is simple and specific, the results—speaking from experience now—undeniable. The eternal search for the Secret of Life just may be over, not with an explosion but in these pages of the book 'Happiness is all we Want' that prove, detail, and teach us to apply what we’ve known all along. A leisurely, insightful and very possibly life-changing read by Ashutosh Mishra.

Happiness is All We Want!, is a book about attaining our own happiness by healing our mental, physical and spiritual being. The author discusses how our modern lifestyle takes away from finding true happiness. Our dependence on our technology, lack of exercise, poor diet and just lack of motivation affects every part of our being. We’ve learned to multi-task to do more but in turn are losing our ability to focus on any one thing, most importantly ourselves. Our stress levels are the highest they have ever been and we are allowing this to happen. The book explains the importance of cleaning up our diet, sticking with a fitness routine and finding and healing our mental and spiritual selves. He shares with us how meditation, yoga and even a run can help us focus on our soul and mind and learn to love and be happy with what we are and have. Throughout the book, the author shares his own path, as well as others, to help us understand how these changes help us in the long run, in every aspect of our life. This book is easy to read, with short exercises to get you started on the path to loving yourself and happiness.
When I first starting reading this book I was excited by the table of contents, I have read many books on taking care of oneself and genuine happiness, I love when I find one that includes exercise and diet. I like that the book is in layman’s terms, you don’t have to know big words or be familiar with a lot of scientific studies to read and understand this book. The author does attempt to try to include everyone, without offending or coming off as scary or too big of a change to initiate.
I love the shared stories from the author and his friends and family, it helps sometimes to hear someone’s fall from grace and/or their climb back up. It’s easy to put yourself in his shoes or at least translate his experiences to your own life and what changes you may need to make. I love that he provides small, short exercises to start each change and provides guidance on getting help to achieve better understanding and practice for each change.
One of my favorite focuses in the book, mostly because I’ve learned so much recently myself, is the focus on weaning out processed foods and eating more whole foods. Our bodies don’t know how to process man made food and we miss out on so many nutrients because we eat these processed foods, which in turn throws our entire well-being off. It’s are to focus your mind, work on spiritual growth and exercise if you aren’t feeling well.
I don’t know that it is but the book sounds like it is translated and with that there are many spelling and sentence structure errors throughout the book. Focused is spelled wrong more times than right and some of the sentences are confusing because their English structure is not accurate. Someone who notices these things easily would probably not finish the book because they’d spend time correcting the errors in their head.
The appendices provide the reader with suggested reading and the Smart Well-being Capsules (exercises) he recommends to help you your path to better well-being. But had I not been reading this book for review purposes, I don’t think I would have made it past Chapter 15. In this chapter, he goes to explain the different levels of meditation and what each is meant to help you attain. In my opinion, he goes too deep into explanation of Vipssana and the following levels because for someone who has never meditated for more than 15 minutes being told that they will eventually need to be able to quiet their mind and focus on their inner self for 30 minutes or more is daunting. Here I thought, what about those struggling to love themselves, they may not be ready to be told they will have to focus on themselves for that long…eventually. The author could have kept each level of meditation very short, explaining what it is and what you will attain but maybe save the follow on, heavier discussion for a second book.
While the author did state repeatedly that anyone practicing any religion could makes these changes and practice meditation, yoga, etc. without disrupting their faith, there was a lot of discussion on Buddhism. This would have him losing a lot of readers; if the author wants to reach a large number of readers across all people; more study needs to go into all religions (including wicca and paganism) and the ties that bind them so the book can be generalized and he can speak to how meditation and yoga and diet would tie into each other religion, not just Buddhism.

Happiness is all we want is a Self-Help book by an Indian Author Ashutosh Mishra. It was a first ever self-help book I read by an Indian Author and I really enjoyed it. The writing style of the book is very friendly and understandable. The book gives us the practical and effective ideas to improve our daily life. The Author focused on three main pillars of our life which are inter-related and connected. The human mind is uncontrollable, our thoughts are always juggling in our mind but this book could help us how to control our thoughts and give them a positive direction. The problems raised in this books are genuine which is being faced by every individual and the solutions provided are explained beautifully through Relevant Example, Happiness Moments, Practical Tips and Tech Traps.

The part I really enjoyed was Smart Well-being Capsule (SWC) no. 3 The Wish List. I did this activity and I really enjoyed it. Wao..!

The book is divided into three parts; Mind Well-Being, Body Well-Being and Spiritual Well-Being. The author has described the Mind Development and the Meditation Process in a very efficient way. I did Meditation Research in Graduation so I can understand that it is not easy for everyone to read and understand the mediation process and the implementation of those meditations in daily life is also very difficult but the Author made it really easy and effective. You can start your meditation anytime & anywhere. The daily meditation gives your mind soothing and calm effects.

The second phase is Physical Well-Being and the relation of our body with our mind and soul. Those who are thinking that our body is working alone are wrong. If our body isn’t working well it will not allow our mind to think smoothly and positively. The author explained the importance of a healthy body and told us many theories and techniques which is really helpful to improve our daily routine and find happiness in little things. A simple and cute Nutritionist guide.

The third phase is the spiritual and inner Self-Recognition which is most important for our mind and body both. Based on my personal experience and study I could say that the concept the Author explained is easy and logical. Spirituality is not related to religion only it is about one`s inner self. The Book is a good source to attain knowledge how could we grow spiritually. As it is a Self-Help Book that doesn’t mean it is only good for your physical and mental growth it also helps you to find peace and happiness in your surrounding in the very simple way. The simple smile and the gratitude could change your whole day. It completely depends on our spiritual growth that how we react towards little things around us. The actual purpose of the book is to reach the inside own self and find the depth of the meaning of life.

Conclusion

This book teaches us about the actual meaning of Peace, Little Happy Moments, Perspective of Life & Happiness, working with metal & physical wellbeing through the tool of "Happiness Moments" and “Things to Ponder” and “Things to do". We live in such a Fast Growing Era where, our main happiness is the comfort, luxury and a lavish lifestyle to show off and we think that it is compulsory to live always updated and connected with Social Media. we are so busy in chasing the “Artificial Happiness” that the “Actual Happiness” which belongs close to heart and mind always gotten unnoticed. Luxuries can give us comfort but not the happiness that will stay in our life forever. For that, we need to be healthy by our Mind to understand happiness, by our Body to fit and active, so that we can enjoy the essence of happiness and by Soul, thus we can submit everything from the source we belong to and allows us to find self-esteem and confidence in ourselves.
Lastly, I will say that, it is completely depending on us, how to change our life towards better; so if we want to be happy, we need to make efforts by ourselves. The collaboration of many such little efforts will bring the actual happiness that we all deserve to have. The key to happiness is in our hand to unlock the door of everlasting Happiness, mental peace and a life full of bright colours.

Recommendation

I would definitely love to recommend this book to each and every single person I know or everyone because I believe that the book is good in all way to read and to improve the living style if things mentioned followed properly. It can not only just bring happiness in the life of the reader, but it will also change the way of living in a better way. I don’t think that anyone would regret but may be other with different religion will not like it but as I said already it completely depends on us; how we read and understand Author`s point of view. I hope this book will make you happy.

Thank you.

Review:
The first thought that I got after I got this book in my hand was that the book was larger than most of the books that we find in the market nowadays it is also longer in length comparatively. One reason for this is the vast topics that the author has touched in the book. The wide scope of the book is presented right at the index page of the book. here you can see a wide range of topics from yoga to spiritual and practical approaches to living a happy life. The author beautifully terms material happiness as “projected happiness”. The 3 main focuses that form the main sections of the book are mind, body, and soul. The book gives to the readers a holistic framework. The writer talks about the 5 main things that one must focus in life and them being health, relationship, career, wealth and society rather than just running after money and materialistic pleasures. There is a very innovative way in which the author organizes the various ways that he mentions to make life better. This, the author refers to as SWC which is an abbreviation for Smart Wellbeing Capsule. The author has included contents and mentioned various TED talks, book recommendations, and other related studies relating to the topic. This indicates that the extensive research and the good preparedness of the author. There are things like things to do, things to ponder after every chapter that provide the readers an insight and makes them evaluate their standing when it comes to their own life. the part about expectations is very well written and must be read by each and every one is what I would recommend. The content of the book focuses on ancient Indian sutras, Upanishads, Reiki as well as contemporary knowledge and ways. As a bonus, the readers will come across real-life examples as to how the particular way has helped to enhance peoples lives. the author uses the metaphors of Donkey and Horse in the book which are very relatable and serves the point that the authors want to make rightly. The author has included a lot of teachings preached in the Bhagwad Gita. The Spiritual section is highly philosophical and a must read. The law of Karma is explained by the author briefly and in a perfect way and this is done not just for actions but also for thoughts. This is by far the best self-help book that I have read. The language and the contents are simple and straight to the point. I would recommend this book to all the readers irrespective of age, gender, origin and genre preference.

Fantastic. Am not even sure if that’s the correct word to describe this book. Nobody’s life came with a “How To” manual, and that is what we are constantly seeking, regardless of what is that we want. This book is not just the perfect guide as to what to do in order to achieve happiness but it clearly highlights that happiness is an action that constantly needs to be maintained. This book is a perspective changer, being broken into three parts and explained in detail with practical evidence should be more than sufficient to recognize that everything begins within and there for happiness is something that you become by gradually associating yourself with it. Most self development books tend to outline what one needs to avoid along ones journey for better living and prosperity but props to the author of Happiness is All We Want - Mr Ashutosh Mishra because this book entails information, various methods and techniques that one can adopt in order to live a balanced and content life. The book teaches self love. Indeed we are born into a system and if one is unable to conquer self, how else is one expecting to conquer the world.
The Mind, The Body and The Soul. The book paints a vivid picture - likening a Being to a car. The Mind would basically be you as the driver, The Body is a simple representation of the car and The Soul is the engine. Observe if you must but believe it or not the mind is a puller/taker, it constantly requires your attention so as to give rise to thoughts and what most of us don’t realize is that thinking is addictive. We indulge in it with immense focus and energy and the only way the subconscious mind can manifest itself is through the body. Emotions come to play and we feel it in our very being. When we finally see it come to pass, it seems to surprise us because we are not aware of our thoughts and behavior. There is no life that does not experience hardships. Adversity is a package of life and this book clearly directs one in the path of a life that one enjoys dealing with. Because we are human this book does not suggest that we are exempted from feeling pain but when one finally decides to adopt this methods and techniques, life as you know it takes a different shift and nothing will ever be the same. As people we are well aware of what’s good and what’s not without being told, but in this world that we live in today, for example - Television, tell a lie to my vision. Meditation, give me life in this station (cosmos). Even businesses understand that getting in the mind of the consumer gives them control, this sounds insignificant but it’s impact suggests the opposite.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says “Greater is He in Me, Than He That is in The World” and I believe that this book gives meaning to the above. I really enjoyed reading this book and I am sure to share it, for it will be selfish of me to keep such great information that can benefit lives. Thank you Mr Ashutosh Mishra for such a great book. Wealth, Health, Prosperity and all Good things to you and your family. Namaste🙏🏾.

Recently, I was delighted to read ” Happiness Is All I Want” by Ashutosh Mishra, a 200-page book published by Bloomsbury in 2016. Mishra is a B. Tech from IIT Delhi and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur. He has spent more than one and a half decades in the banking industry. He has worked with international organisations such as Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank and is currently a senior banker in ANZ Bank. Mishra is therefore well-qualified to understand the stresses and strains of modern-day corporate life where executives are expected to be accessible almost on a 24×7 basis.

Obviously a lot of thought has gone into planning the structure of the book. This has resulted in it being very readable as the concepts are presented in an easy to read and understand style. To equip the reader with specific tools to translate these readings into purposeful action, each chapter has, ” Smart Wellbeing Capsules”, “Practical Tips”, ” Things To Ponder”, and ” Things To Do.” The end of the book has a summary of the Smart Wellbeing Capsules, all in one handy page. In my view, all of these make the book particularly useful to the present day executive irrespective of the industry in which they work or the length of experience they have.

I liked the way the book is arranged into 3 distinct parts: these cover, “Mental Wellbeing”, “Physical Wellbeing”, and “Spiritual Wellbeing.” The first two parts are relatively easy to write about but I thought Mishra has done extremely well to write about spiritual development which most people, in my opinion, find difficult to comprehend and even more difficult to practice in the hustle and bustle of today’s highly competitive and stressful corporate life. This is not to say that implementing actions to improve yourself in the first two spheres of Mental Wellbeing and Physical Wellbeing are very easy. They are not. They call for a lot of self-discipline and motivation. Which is what this book is all about. It helps you get off your butt and act!

The tying up of a concept to a real life story adds charm and value to each chapter and makes it more easy for us to relate to what is being said. We realize that we have been through the situation ourselves, more often than not or have known some colleague, friend or relative who has been through such a crisis.

The author sums it up well in the end: “If you don’t take care of your business, someone else will. If you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will.” Read this book carefully and implement your own actions to achieve your happiness goals and career success.

"I received this book for my honest review"
To be Honest, I don't really read non fiction or self help books. But I decided to pick this book because of its interesting title. I just wanted something to read slowly. And, I did take a lot of time reading this book.

The way that this book is arranged gave my organisation obsessed self a kind of peace. It is divided into three parts :Mental Wellbeing, Physical Wellbeing, and Spiritual Wellbeing. The importance of each of these is carefully written and the points are emphasised by giving us examples, tips, stories, etc which made the book easy to understand and saved it from being boring . The author takes us through various steps and exercises that might help in making us happy. Day to day issues are addressed and their practical solutions are suggested. At the end of each chapter, there are SWC 's (Smart Well Being Capsules) , things to ponder and things to do which kinda summarises the chapters. So, if you can't read the whole chapter, you can just read these and they will be helpful.

The Mental Wellbeing section was the one that kept me hooked as I realised how much I needed it. It made me realise that The mind always pushes us to take the easy or unhealthy choice, unless trained properly and that The mind needs to be an ally and not an adversary in our quest for peace & well being. I am sharing one of my Favorite part of the book from the Mental Wellbeing Section cuz I relate to it the most 😅

AND INDEED, no matter what we do Happiness is All we Want 😊

The things that I liked in this book :
● The language is simple and easy to understand.
● It is very well organised
● It is definitely helpful and it serves to make our life better.
● It is certainly not boring as I read it slowly taking my time.
● It also includes Expert Advices.
● The stories and tips are definitely worth reading
● I love how at the end of each chapter , there is a brief summary.
● Can skip to any part we want and can choose that part by scrolling through the well structured Contents Index.
● The Page Quality / the Cover is really good 😁
● The author has definitely done his research in writing such a helpful book.

The things that I didn't like:
● The font 😭 it's too small

Happiness- one little word, an emotion, a feeling that we all strive for in all of our lives. Some of us spend an entire lifetime chasing after this elusive dream. Enter Happiness Is All We Want! by author Ashutosh Mishra.
The list of professional accomplishments in Ashutosh’s life keeps going on and on. And add to it, this life changing book.
Happiness Is All We Want! by Ashutosh Mishra is a beautiful take on how to get your life back on track or make it better. If you are someone who is currently feeling down in his life, or just wants to be more productive, this book is for you.
Ashutosh, in Happiness Is All We Want! takes you into a beautiful journey of the mind, body and soul, making sure that no aspect of any of the three are left unanswered. He gives to the audience real life examples of his “Smart Wellness Capsules” that can help even the laziest of people.
Happiness Is All We Want!
Reading this book, Ashutosh reminded me of Bentinho Massaro at many instances. For those who don’t know, Bentinho is the Osho of the West.
Happiness Is All We Want! is the perfect first step for those looking to dive into the world of meditation, well being and so much more. At the same time, the book is never preachy. The reason behind that is simple- it is honest. The words written by Ashutosh resonate with you on an intimate level because we have all been through similar disappointments or are looking for a similar change in our lives to well, make it happier.
Reading this book in itself is like meditation, really. You feel connected with yourself on a deeper level as you flip through the pages of this book.
Though I must warn you that there may be moments when you feel a little bored as the writing gets monotonous, but you cannot really blame the author for that since it is a topic which is not very easy to write about but Ashutosh Mishra manages to do so with fair ease.
So What are you waiting for? This book gets a definite thumbs up from me!

"Happiness Is All We Want" by Ashutosh Mishra is a motivational self-help book. And, if you like reading such books, I believe that you will find it at least useful.

The author tries to cover all the things in life that contribute to our happiness and well-being. He successfully organizes all this information into three parts: body, mind, and spirit. His writing style is articulate, conversational, direct and easy to read.

What I appreciated most, it is his practical and realistic approach for a such a vague subject like happiness. For this purpose, Ashutosh Mishra uses some understandable techniques (practical tips, waken up stories, tech traps, smart well-being capsule, etc.)  At the end of the book, there is a table with Smart Wellbeing Capsule activities and useful resources. The book gives specific guidelines. That's why it manages to fulfill its primary goal as a self-help book, which is to inspire and motivate. I guess that the author's studies in Mechanical Engineer and Mangement and his corporate career as a senior banker with global banks were crucial for this result.

For example, I had read in the past many things about meditation. But, I had poorly practiced it. I always waited the right moment in the right place with the right mood that actually rarely happened. But with this book was different. I finished the specific chapter and I tried to meditate. I was motivated instantly. And, this is a big deal for a self-help book.

The same pragmatical notion is expressed in other chapters of the book about exercise and nutrition. Even in the difficult part of spirituality. Ashutosh Mishra shares his personal experiences as well as stories of others in order to spotlight self-discipline and action. The book ends with the most insightful way. Our work for happiness and well-being should be systematic, well-organized, conscious and it should start from us.
