A chocoholic comes to Death by Chocolate, praises Lindsay’s desserts and intimidates her ex, Rickhead. The mysterious man is her new best friend. She gives him a complimentary box of desserts. After he’s gone, she finds a small brass key under his plate. Surely he’ll return for more chocolate and the key.But he’s murdered, and the Death by Chocolate box leads police to Lindsay. Is his death connected to the blonde in four-inch heels who demands to talk to Lindsay about her relationship with the woman’s husband? Who is her husband? Fred? For all Lindsay knows, he could be married, could be a bigamist or even a trigamist. He is an over-achiever.Lindsay’s life is spinning out of control with lots of questions and no answers. Is the key a clue to the murder? What does it hide that makes it important enough for someone to kill Lindsay to get it?
“Write what you know,” they said. I’d been married three times. I wrote romances.
Fast forward ten years.
“Write what you know,” they said. I’d been divorced three times and fantasized about murdering my ex. Only massive doses of chocolate kept my finger off the trigger.
Now I write about murder and chocolate and the occasional ghost.
A few minutes before closing time and Death by Chocolate had only two customers remaining. A man who had admitted to being a chocoholic – and Lindsay’s ex-husband Rick. After Rick left, with the help of the gentleman customer, Lindsay gave him a box of desserts – she hoped he’d return to the shop in the near future. But overnight he was murdered in his hotel room, and Trent was soon talking to Lindsay about her having known the victim.
When a woman turned up in high heels, Lindsay knew immediately that she didn’t like her. But she didn’t expect the trouble that would come with the woman. The key that Lindsay had found under the stranger’s plate when he’d left seemed to be central to the mystery. But why? And what did it open? Determined to find answers, she and Fred investigated – but someone was out there who was prepared to kill. Was Lindsay in danger - again?
Deadly Chocolate Addiction is the 6th in the Death by Chocolate series and another hilarious and entertaining story! I’ve loved every single edition of the series and can’t wait for #7. Lindsay is a wonderful character, full of dry wit which has me laughing out loud; determination and loyalty. I love her cat, King Henry, and neighbour Fred is another outstanding character. The twists and turns leading to the final solution; Lindsay and Fred’s sleuthing expertise; and of course, Trent and his two personas – all make for an excellent cosy mystery series which I highly recommend.
Deadly Chocolate Addiction by Sally Berneathy is the 6th book in the Death by Chocolate mystery series. A stranger comes to Death by Chocolate and leaves behind a key with his tip, and when this stranger is murdered, Lindsay finds out that he was married to her boyfriends ex-wife whom she immediately takes a dislike to and sets off to prove her guilty. A very quick read with a lot of humour and fun making it difficult to put down. The narrator for this audible book really makes the story come about and is perfect. Fred is wonderful as always. An entertaining series.
Thank you Sally for another great book!!!! This book had me cracking up and kept me up all night because I couldn't put it down. Please write another Death by Chocolate book soon. I'm not above begging
When a friendly chocoholic helps Lindsay out in her restaurant, she gifts him a box of treats. When she is cleaning up, she finds he left behind a key. When he later turns up murdered the bad news continues. Lindsay finds out that he has a past that affects her significantly. Another hilarious mystery with Lindsay and the gang as they try to sort out relationships, murderers and each other. The books in this series are funny, easy-to-read and engaging.
In this book we learn much more about Lindsay's cop boyfriend, Adam Trent. We meet Adam's ex-wife and his childhood friends, and when one of those friends is murdered, Adam has to figure out who killed him with Lindsay and Fred's help! Another great story that I could not put down until I finished!
By far one of the funniest and best cozy mysteries series around. I started this book and read it straight through until the end, laughing the whole time. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
“Deadly Chocolate Addiction”, sixth in the 'Death by Chocolate' series, is a locked box mystery (eventually). One of Lindsay's last customers of the day, Ramsay, has a love of chocolate to rival her own. They have a conversation which, in light of what will unfold, shows he knows more about Lindsay and her boyfriend Adam Trent than a stranger should. Along with a tip he also leaves a small key. Shortly afterward he is murdered. A woman, his wife, turns up and tries to grill Lindsay. It turns out that Kathleen is the woman who was once married to Adam. The green-eyed monster flares brightly in Lindsay, particularly when she finds that Kathleen has been staying with Adam. Jealousy does seem a little out of place in the normally emotionally stable Lindsay, but wth it's understandable. The murder is solved by sheer serendipity, but the investigation by Lindsay and the mysterious Fred does contribute. It's a fun read. 3 Stars.
This delicious-cozy mystery series has it all-fun plots, romance, a cat and above all...chocolate. Why I keep coming back to this series though, aside from the chocolate, is the cast of quirky characters. I couldn't begin to tell you which character I enjoy the most. Would I choose Lindsay and her chocolate loving nosiness or maybe her no-nonsense, but sigh-worthy boyfriend Trent. It would be hard not to choose her mysterious and probably former FBI agent or could it be former mafia member, Fred. I think my pick though as favorite character would have to be Henry. Who can resist a 4-legged tough guy who does his part to keep Lindsay safe and thoughtfully brings her mice gifts in the evening.
Lindsay is once again embroiled in a murder mystery when a stranger visits Death by Chocolate, eats his fill, and flees, leaving behind a small brass key. When he’s found murdered, evidence points to Lindsay, a witty chocolatier with a penchant for getting into trouble. The plot twists and turns as Lindsay, her boyfriend, Trent, her puzzling neighbor, Fred, her bodyguard cat, King Henry, and her friends try to unravel the mystery of who killed her customer and why they’ve coming after Lindsay. What’s so important about that little key? Sally Berneathy delivered another great cozy mystery with a twist of humor and a splash of snark. Can’t wait to read the next one!
I am hooked on chocolate and this series! Lindsay is the friend I want to have! This book was probably my favorite so far! I can't wait to start the next one today! Another awesome mystery that Lindsay finds herself in the middle of again but this time it involves Trent in a really personal way! I love that we finally get to know a little more about Trent and for me, this book was has me so excited to see the next steps for Trent and Lindsay! I can't forget to mention Fred! Fred is a mystery that I hope to see unraveled a little more in future books. LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
Just like the last one, we had a character introduced in the beginning who, even in the space of a few pages, come to like. Only to be murdered in the next chapter. It was quite interesting to see Trent have to face some things (and people) from his own past, and in the end his relationship with Lindsey is made stronger. All in all it's another fantastic addition to the series! I love the fact that chocolate recipes are included in the back.
Even the recipes in the back made my mouth water. Will Trent propose to Lindsey? Will Fred ever reveal his mysterious past? Whatever is next I am glad to be on the ride. Lindsey is snarky and full of funny insights. Would have loved seeing Trent's ex hauled off too Kathleen was the perfect woman you love to hate. This series gets better with every book!
These Chocolate books should be on the NY Times best seller list.
Loved the first 5 chocolate books and couldn't wait for #6 to be released. Was not disappointed! Sally has not lost her touch. I had almost forgotten what a unique sense of humor she has. I love all of the characters and can't wait to see what they're up to next. Thanks Sally for another great book! Sharon
For some reason this one bothered me. Part of it might be because Trent's ex came back and he seemed to pander to her right in front of Lindsey. Often times Lindsey would point out things that were off, yet Trent didn't seem to care. It really made me not like him. The highlight of the book was at the start, the talk between Lindsey and Ransom. I wished we could have more with them.
I love the way the story keeps moving it's not chopped up where you have to go back and reread something from a past chapter to understand what your reading now. I love that there's not a lot of cussing (if any, I don't remember any) and no sex scenes. And the good guy always wins 😉👍🏻
I love this series. Each book is more entertaining than one before. I can't wait for Book number seven, I can't wait to see what adventure is next for Lindsey and the gang.
This is the 6th book in the Death by Chocolate series by Sally Berneathy. Another great and exciting read! I love the coffee and chocolate offerings while wondering where all the criminal activity surrounding Lindsay will lead. Quite a page turner! Delicious recipes in the back of the book.
I really enjoyed this book! I have read all of the books in the series and kept waiting for this one to come out. It is a really good mystery Anyone could have done any of the crimes. In the end it all comes together. All of the characters are very human which helps you relate to rhem.
Fast-paced and very interesting. I really enjoyed the suspense and misdirection in the book. The love of chocolate really makes an impact and chocolate really can heal a lot more than one thinks
This series just keeps getting better. I know that at some point my voracious reading will outpace the author's ability to write new books but until I don't really want to slow down. I love these!
The continued saga of Lindsay. Another great story of who dunnit and chocolate. Containing witty humor and the added bonus of chocolate recipes.. on to the next...
Ms Berneathy is one of my favorite authors and this book, this series shows why. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by her.
This book had a lot to do with her boyfriend Adam. One of his friends got murdered and all of his childhood friends came home to find out who killed him.
