This was an adorable little read. I wish I would have had the chance to read #1, but only because this was so cute. It can definitely stand on it's own.

This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Stars: 5
Chapters: 26
Length in pages: not mentioned
Tense of Story: Present – First person
Genera: New Adult Contemporary Romance
POV: Matt & Annika
MF / Profession: Annika – Foreign college student (Estonia)
MM / Profession: Matt – Collage student
Location: Carlyle Collage (although it was not mentioned specifically I searched and the collage is located in Illinois)

This was an R&R electronic copy that was provided to me in exchange for an honest review. With that out of the way, onto the review.

The Do Over is book two in a series. However it can be read as a standalone story. All three books follow one of the three couples that become friends when they are forced to take a class when they get into some issues in collage. This particular story follows Matt & Annika.

It was really nice to come back and read about these two characters. It was nice to hear about the first couple in the priviouse book were doing. It was nice to reminisce coming about these characters, they grow on you.

The story has a fast pace to it and the editing was done very well. Their story began a year prior to the class that forced them to partner up. Glad that the history was introduced in the story but not too early, so there was still some guessing on my part. Once it was introduced "it opened up my eyes and" well you know the rest. I really enjoyed how the story play out, to so see why these two hated each other and how they came to have a history. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book and the final couple in this group.

So check it out, the story is fun and light and like I said it’s a pretty quick read.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

The premisse of this book is quite good, but I couldn't help finding myself disappointed while reading it.

It's a bit confusing and things happened maybe a bit too rushed for me. There were times I enjoyed the story and the characters, but there were others that I was bored and unfortunately the boring feeling is the one that stuck with me.

I couldn't relate at all with any othe the characters, which is a shame because this is the kind of "light" read I really enjoy. I'm giving it a 3 stars rating because I did enjoy it, despite everything (I just wish I enjoyed it more)!

I'm so in love with this second book series. Can I have Matt to be mine? lol

Anyway, this wonderful story between Matt and Annika. Both of them make an amazing progression in their relationship - from partner in class to a lover. Oh! I love the way Matt handle Annika, the way he try to understand and not forcing her into a relationship that she does not want and afraid of and it is paid off!

I personally enjoy this story!

Three and a half stars.

This is the second in a trilogy of novellas about three couples who get together during a class for students in trouble called Extra Credit. I haven't read the first novella but this was easy to read as a stand-alone.

Annika Saar is an Estonian former model who is attending college in the USA. She has found her natural reticence and attempts to avoid being hit on by college boys have landed her with the reputation of being an Ice Queen and snooty. She has been referred to Extra Credit because some of the popular girls have made a complaint about her.

Matt is the golden boy, son of a political family, athlete and all-round popular guy on campus. His frat house got caught circulating the Organic Chemistry final paper from the previous year and as President of the fraternity he has been punished.

A year ago Matt and Annika met at a frat party, both of them remember that night for very different reasons and it is the source of their current animosity. As is the way, the teacher running Extra Credit sees (and hears) that Matt and Annika are at odds and therefore chooses to pair them off to work together for the rest of the semester to try to solve each other's problems.

Together Annika and Matt draw up a list of things for each other to do in order to 'fix' their problems. Annika tells Matt he is lazy, he doesn't make an effort and has traded integrity for popularity. Matt tells Annika she is a Mean Girl and draws up a To Do list of making friends, paying compliments and helping others.

Gradually the events of the night they met are revealed to the reader and to Matt and Annika. Things did not go the way either of them remember and they each start to change as a result of their make-overs.

Matt and Annika both still feel the same attraction but can they overcome their mistrust of each other?

I liked this book, it didn't go the way I thought it would and it was all the better for it. At a time when I was abandoning books left and right because they were boring and obvious this one stood out - bizarre that it was a YA/NA book that got this 50 year old out of her reading slump!

Anyway, if you like all those high school/ college romances with enemies falling in love then this will be right up your alley.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I recieved a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
One thing I decided about play fights (or actual fights in this case) as foreplays is that it. Is. HOT. And that basically defines this book, hot. If you're like me and you enjoy a good love hate relationship, this book is definitely for you.

Our main characters, Matt and Annika (who's Estonian) had quite of a rough start with each other, but you can never deny the chemistry. I just can't stop grinning over their banters. The whole book was nothing but utterly enjoyable. The pace was quite fast, which is a plus in my opinion due to my personal preference. The author had succeeded in keeping the readers entertained by not putting anything unnecessary. Although the main conflict doesn't really have as much significance as I would've expected, it still earned a place in my favourites shelf. I'll definitely pick up more books from Charlotte Penn Clark, and you should too!

I received this book in return for an honest review.
Charlotte Penn Clark continues to amaze me as an author, and after thoroughly enjoying "The Partnership", the 1st installment in the Extra Credit Series, I couldn't wait to read "The Do-Over", the 2nd installment in the Extra Credit Series, and I loved reading every page! I really enjoyed Charlotte's style of writing, and as per the 1st installment, I found myself again totally engaged in the lead characters and story development, which were so expertly portrayed.
"The Do-Over" focuses on a new couple, Annika and Matt in the Extra Credit Class. These characters are really very different in everything from style, personality and backgrounds, plus there is the added torment of bad history between them. They unfortunately find themselves paired together in the class, which makes this book even more explosive and for great reading! The journey they face to complete the course and help each other through their issues, sees the couple go through a very turbulent relationship, which the author captures so well. Chapter by chapter, we await to find out whether Annika and Matt can overcome their issues, or will they remain stuck in a spiral of disaster.
I gave "The Do-Over" a five star rating. I love reading books where you find yourself easily drawn into the world the writer created, where everything outside seems to disappear and you remain captivated by the enthralling story line and characters, impatient to find out how their journey will end.
I eagerly wait for the 3rd installment in the Extra Credit Class series.

Great outcome of the "do-over"!

This was a very entertaining second book in the Extra Credit series. I liked this one even better than the first book. It was longer and had a more involved storyline with anger and betrayal and lies and back-stabbing. This book focuses on Annika (Anni) and Matt, also taking the extra credit class to make up for behavioral issues the two were being punished for.
Anni, a very innocent and sheltered former model from Estonia was new to the college and to the USA and didn't have many friends. Stepping out of her comfort zone, she goes to s party where she meets Matt...a rich frat boy who plays on the college soccer team. He's her total opposite - "Mr. Popular". But Anni and Matt hit it off and really connect, until the next morning when their lives are turned upside down. Then the connection turns to hatred.
But as fate would have it, they end up in the same EC class together. This follows their animosity to friendship to more to nothing and back relationship. They're both more than they seem. It's a fun ride! Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Looking forward to the next one!

3.5 amazing stars :D
( a few spoilers ahead! you have been warned).

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! It's not very common (at least for me) to read a book where the female lead character isn't a native english speaker. It was... refreshing.

So... let's start with the characters.
I didn't really latch on to any of them (even though I related to the story) and I don't know why! There was just... something missing. And I don't know if it's me or the book itself. I wanted to read this more slowly than I did, to be able to really take it in, but this month I have too many exams and responsabilities. Urgh!

That being said, I generally liked them all (except Valerie and Geoff- those bitches!), but I didn't love them.
I thought they were diverse and the fact that his sister was gay (and trying to figure out how to tell her parents) was a very nice touch indeed.

But what I really f*cking liked about this was how relatable it was to me. I'm almost done with 10th grade now, so I don't know how things will be in college, but I felt their pain. The rumors, the jealousy, the stress... all of it. And that sure is international.
And me being me, you know... more interested in books than people, I felt her struggle with socializing. I'm not particularly fond of being surrounded by people that hate me (or god forbid- that pretend to like me because they want/need something). Doesn't help that I have a resting bitch face most of the time. *sigh*

Actually, me and Annika had quite a few things in common. The weird socializing, the bitch factor, the foreign thing and the group of friends (not that my friends are like that - they're nothing alike actually- but the fact that we both flourish when we're surrounded by true friends).

I related and it was awesome.

'' Trying to figure out how socializing works here is like being assigned extra homework.''

'' Mr. Smooth. Mr. Popular Perfect. Everyone sided with him. ''

'' No one says anything. They never say anything. Is that how it's always been? Shit goes down and no one protests? ''

'' I wonder about my values, who I am, what I want... ''

'' For me, it's about knowing. I've never been a particularly introspective person and I'm finding out I don't know myself very well at all ''

Now that I look back at these quotes... I'm feeling you too Matt. Lol.
To conclude this... I think it was a fun read, but it could have touched my heart a little more to be in my favourites.

Woah. This was kinda long! Don't usually give written reviews, but I wanted to try it out.

'' Sometimes I out-do even myself '' ;)

All the love, xoxo

I had been looking for a book like this. I really like the stories where the main characters hate each other at first, but end up falling in love.
This one felt kind of plain. I loved Matt, but Annika... well, she kind of annoyed me.

Oh my dear Lord! Charlotte Penn, you are on fire.
So I had read the first book in the series entitled "The Partnership" and I had liked it, it was written beautifully, even though it was a quick read, there wasn't anything that felt missing. My only issue was, I didn't think I could relate to the characters on a personal level cuz they were so different from me. And the kind of vibe we get from Annika and Matt in the first book, I wasn't sure if I would be able to relate to them; but boy was I wrong.
Annika and Matt are as human as the next person, and I could relate with Annika on a personal level, so that was awesome. Now to the book:
It's an art, to give layers to characters and words without saying too much, and Charlotte excels at that. You can feel the tension, the love, the doubt, the hope and you can smile at the jokes and the banter cuz it's quite funny!
Annika is a "socially misunderstood" girl, being a foreigner only adds to that image, and she has to keep the act in order to protect herself and keep the unwanted and damaging attention at arm's length. She's naive but not stupid. And I love this about her. I can so relate to this particular trait of hers.
Matt on the other hand, is kinda worldly but grounded. He has it all but that doesn't necessarily means that he wants it all. He makes it clear that when he wants something, really wants something, he goes for it and doesn't let society or other people dictate his choices. And that's the kinda person Annika needs in her life.
The whole point of the series is to show how people who seem to be so different from us, are inherently so similar to us, having the same kind of emotions and insecurities and strengths as any of us. Only when we get to know them, like really know them, do we realize that there's less to hate and so much more to love.
The side characters are awesome too, I loved Matt's sister and his relationship with her. Little snippets from hero and heroine's family life give so much insight into who they are.
I am sure by now you know how much in love I am with the series and specially this book. Can't wait for Holly and Noah's story.
All the love.
Thanks for providing me with an ARC for an honest review.

I missed when this book was released so I read the last 2 books out of order. But with the way this series was written it really doesn't matter the order you read them, luckily! I'm actually kind of glad I read Matt and Annika's story last- seeing glimpses of them in the other 2 books just made me all the more anxious to learn just what in the heck was going on with these two!
Lots of back and forth, push and pull between Matt and Anni. Their first meeting seemed to be going so well, but then bam- we're in the present day and all they do is argue and fight and they can barely stand to be in the same room as the other. What in the heck happened that night?!?
Even after they figure out there was more to what happened that one night than either of them knew, and they are finally able to get past the hurt, anger, and repercussions, things still weren't smooth sailing for them.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Anni and Matt. They definitely knew how to push each other's buttons and it was highly entertaining. They were so good for each other, but it took awhile, at least for Anni, to come to an acceptance of that realization.
I loved this final look, at least for me, at this group of friends!

I was given a free copy for an honest review so here it is.
I really loved the writing style and it helped that the spelling was accurate. This book kept me on the edge wondering if they characters were going to make it and I loved the characters. Its not often you get a clear image of the characters in your head but this writer described them perfectly. I am going to read more by Charlotte even though it is aimed towards a younger market but I still really enjoyed this book.

I read these books out of order so the Do-Over was the first one I've read, I am not reading the others in the series! I really loved the chemistry between Matt and Anni i feel like they really just had a popping connection and couldn't wait to find out what was going on with them! I really loved the relationship between to two and how Anni seems so mean at times but she really isn't. I really liked that they were able to get back to a good place. Can't wait to finish reading the other books!

The truth is I really liked it. It was a fun and entertaining reading.
The only thing that bothered me was that the so-called "villains" in this story had no apparent reason (in my opinion) to do those bad things to the protagonists. I will give an ocortunidad to the other books of the trilogy. Hahaha

I received an arc of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This story follows Annika and Matt who have been sent into an Extra Credit class because Matt was involved in a cheating scandal and Annika was supposedly being mean to other students. Matt and Annika share a history and had a misunderstanding from a year ago that makes the two not like each other.

Ok, so I am not the biggest fan of this book because of the female protagonist. She’s said to be Estonian, tall, beautiful, model and all the guys want her including Matt. It’s just so unrelateable because it automatic males Annika part of this elite top 10 percent of the population. And yes she is in a new country but she’s just… I don’t know. I honestly automatically hated her just like the mean girls at her school and its funny because one of the lines that is used in the story is “American Girls aren’t good enough” and I was just thinking the same thing. I know that we are supposed to be like excepting of different cultures but I just wish Annika hadn’t been described the way she was because I really didn’t care if she got the guy in the end.

I think I needed her to become more human besides just the would “Clusterfuck” that Matt describes the first night they meet. She just was not relateable and I understood some of the choices she made like not wanting to date Matt but it was like you just said that was a misunderstanding so maybe you misjudged him too.

Overall, I’m glad that I read this book even though I wanted to DNF it. I would really like to read Noah and Holly’s story though and possibly Lani and Kyle’s story. I just think I needed more of Annika’s background to really root for her.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest opinion.

The Do-Over is a quick fun read if you're in a reading slump. The story is about Annika and Matt and how a misunderstanding has placed them at odds with each other. As the story progresses the reader finds out about "That Night" and the characters try to move past it.

Both Annika and Matt have great chemistry but argue more than talk. They are placed in a sort of detention for college students and are stuck as partners. They spend time trying to help each other come up with a plan that will make them more successful in the college life. Which I found cute, they weren't forcing each other to change or even calling out their "negative" aspects. They were just giving constructive suggestions to help each other.

The romance is a love-hate situation where they know they're not good for each other due to the giant misunderstanding and what it did to their reputations but they are still attracted to each other and drawn together. Some aspects were a little unbelievable for the age range of the characters. But the side characters were fun and added to the depth of the story.

Overall it was a cute fun read, if you're looking for college aged romance this would be a good start. While it is book 2 in a series the novel was understandable without having read the first book.

The Do-Over
Extra Credit #2
Charlotte Penn Clark
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a super cute NA story. It's based on a college campus and is about Annika and Matt. Annika and Matt had a bad first encounter which caused a lot of problems for Annika on campus. She was picked on and bullied after that night.
They end up in the same extra credit class and are assigned as partners for class assignments. While working together Annika realizes that Matt doesn't even remember the worst night of her life. And she has to fill in why she hates him so much.
Once they get past what happened Annika realizes Matts not an asshole like she thought. And after realizes she likes him and that they have great chemistry together. She pushes him away cause the feelings became too intense. But after spending a summer separated she realizes what she has been missing and that she needs Matt in her life.
I really enjoyed this quick and easy read. Doesn't have too much drama but enough to keep you entertained.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Raw yet entertaining, this campus read story had that wonderful blend of angst, misunderstandings, and romance.

Matt and Annika have a very bad history, where one night of flirting ended in a horror they'd both rather forget. So when they are paired together in a class for students in trouble, both are adversely opposed to the idea, with constant fighting and nastiness on both sides. But as they take their assignment seriously, the misunderstandings of the past reveal themselves and both Matt and Anni are left wondering if they might actually belong together after all.

The writing was fluid, the plot engaging, and the characters well-rounded and relatable. But it was the comedy dialogue and the culture clashes between the two protagonists that really made the book. With deeper elements of blending in versus being true to oneself, naivety, and facing the consequences of your actions , this is well worth a read. Recommended.

Funny and emotional. This novel does a great job illustrating the crazy emotional roller coaster that is young adulthood. So good, in fact, that even though those years are a couple decades behind me, there were points in the novel when I wanted to cry! So often New Adult novels skip the characters’ emotional development and head right to the sex, which honestly doesn’t make for a very good novel.

The characters are real and face modern challenges. While the plot line may be classic romance without any saving-the-world or paranormal sub-plots, there was enough uniqueness in the story to keep it interesting. The pace is steady.

This novel is also blessedly free from RN cliches, or if they were there, they were surrounded by too much originality to notice. Definitely will be reading more from this author.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Annika & Matt have a one-night history that went completely wrong. Their friendship/relationship was over before it began. One year later they are partnered up in an extra credit class and forced to face their past, fears and feelings head on.

This book was a very quick read. Night one happened at the very beginning and from there it just kept moving, leaving me wanting to know more, see where it would go. There were little moments of annoyances (when Annika fell and you would have thought she lost a leg) and confusion but those moments were very minor in relation to the whole story.

All-in-all it was a short, happy, quick read; a story to get absorbed into that leaves you wondering where the rest of their story takes them.

I like the story but my main problem was the writing.
First of all I went crazy with the over use of exclamation marks. 4 to 9 of them on one page! Nobody screams at eachother so much in real life! After I noticed this I couldn´t unsee it and was so annoyed by it.
The other problem I had was that some passages seemed super unconnected to the one before and didn´t make much sense context wise. Those two things really kicked me out of any reading flow I might have had.
Also I couldn´t really connect with the characters and felt like I didn´t know anything about them and they too basically didn´t talk much about important stuff.
But the overall story idea was nice so still 2.5 stars

I read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Prior to starting this book I read the first in the series as I like to read book in order- I recommend book 1- however it is not necessary, as the do-over can be read as a stand alone.

This book follow Annika and Matts love hate relationship. An initial misunderstood encounter leads to ongoing animosity and dislike- with an undercurrent of lust and sexual tension!

It is clear that these too are perfect for each other and as their relationship progresses and to do lists are made, they begin to change for the better. Annika begging to thaw and lose the ice queen persona, and Matt begins to address his need for popularity and status.

A great book which complements the series.
Will read more from this author.

This was a fun read. I liked both our hero and heroine right away despite the fact that they didn't like each other very much. I appreciate that, though they are both strikingingly gorgeous, their attraction was about more than the physical.

Annika and Matt argue a lot. I always find stories like this, where the passion between the couple causes them to bicker often, to be so entertaining! It always creates fun drama and these two have that in spades.

The best compliment I can give this book is that it makes me want to read the rest of the series. So that's what I'm off to do!

4 Stars! This was a super cute, quick read! I really enjoyed this book! The story was well written & flowed together nicely! There was only 2 or 3 parts that I either didn't get or didn't like. I didn't read book 1 of this series yet but this book is definitely a standalone so I wasn't in the dark on anything while reading this book. I'm going to have to read book 1 & 3 now though, since I liked this book so much! I'd recommend this book for anyone looking for a cute, easy, fast & sometimes funny book!

This is the second book in the Extra Credit series. I loved Matt and Annika's story. This is a second chance story about two characters that sorta hooked up at a party and things went wrong, then a year later and up in the same class and become partners. Loved the storyline and the characters in the story. Matt and Anni have a very intense chemistry and when they are together it is very Hot and explosive. I wish I had a Matt. Can't wait to read the next story in the series.

I liked this book a lot, I can't wait to read book three. I'll have to back and read book one, but the story with Matt an Annika, was really good from start to Finnish. I loved there chemistry in the beginning but hated how Matt screwed it up by not sticking up form Annika. But in the end talking things out and getting things straightened out is always worth it. Even after a year and fighting with one another sparks still fly, which for me is always a good read. On to book three.
