Not gone lie: This book had me feeling some kinda way. You ever just wanna shake the hell out of a fictional character? Yup… That being said, the conclusion to the series answered all the questions left lingering in Reservation For One, and those who needed to catch hands got caught!
So, book two picks up directly where book one leaves off. Haven and Ellis are at an impasse when it comes to how they feel about one another. Not only are they dealing with these “feelings”, there are so many other events swirling around them that doesn’t leave much time for love. This story was filled with so much drama and intrigue that frankly, I didn’t even care if Haven and Ellis found their HEA (I could spoil it for you, but I won’t…) I love messy, entertaining, throw my kindle ‘cause this some bull type of reads, and Ms. Vasser is the queen of pushing my damn buttons when it comes to that.
Yes, you must read Book 1 first or you won’t have a friggin’ clue to what’s going on in this installment. The good news is both books are available to read back-to-back, so click it up, buttercup.
Haven is trying to find herself after suffering the loss of a friend and a broken heart. Someone also wants her dead. I love how the author shows the power Haven has over everyone she comes in contact with and she doesn't even realize it.
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out who killed Ellis' grandmother Roberta McKenna. When I thought I had it figured out, the plot twisted. All of the scheming and planning still backfired on the perpetrators. Haven, understandably, finally grew a pair when dealing with other people messing with her life, especially with her mother and Dylan. Roberta McKenna was more of a mother to her than her own.
I can see another story brewing between Haven's friend Talia and the mysterious Lyle, Ellis' friend. They definitely have enough chemistry that warrants their own book. I'd like to read about the backstory of Lyle, and Talia has just enough spice to make it a good read.
I enjoyed reading this book more than part 1. The author wrote the plot with great timing. I love a good suspenseful mystery and LaShawn was on point with this one. Although I lost patience with Haven wanting to keep Ellis on the back burner and take things slow, I understood her reasoning. I'm just happy to read that she and Ellis were able to finally get their HEA.
I give this book a 3.5 I took off a half a point because there was not reason for this book to be released as two separate books. The main Character Haven is frustrating throughout the book. Also, Haven must have been seeing the same OBGYN as the chick from the real housewives. I've never heard of it taking so long to figure out someone's due date, it was an extremely unnecessary plot twist when there was already plenty of drama to go around. Ive read way better this author so it's a let down I didn't enjoy this story as much as her other books.
Ellis and Haven's story concludes in this heart-thumping second book. In a complete role reversal, we now see Ellis completely bowled over, wearing his heart on his sleeve where Haven is concerned. He's finally woken up to the fact that Haven is the one for him, and boy does she make him sweat! But he's not for giving up on their love.
It was lovely to see this side of Ellis. I also liked that we got to see him wooing and chasing Haven, not the other way round. This book had me in knots of suspension, as Ms Vasser took us through a nail-biting mixed bag of twists and turns. I absolutely loved it and had all my questions answered. I only wish Layla and Vanessa had met their maker, not Dylan. As smarmy and annoyong as he was, he was nowhere near as vile as the two witches of Eastwick.
A fantastic read. Now I'll be waiting with baited breath for Lyle's story ;) Well done, Ms Vasser!
This was a great and crazy follow up. My prediction was on point about Haven. She had some deep issues when it came to trusting people and I understand. After Ellis rejected her, she was on the defensive about his feelings toward her. But I really needed her to put 2 & 2 together and come up with 4 cause Stevie Wonders could have told her who the daddy was! I'm just saying!! Her mother was something else. I'm glad she kicked her out. But the crazy chick though!! How did she think she was going to get away with killing his grandmother?? And Lyle....... who is you and what is it that you do. I need answers. But I would like a Talia and Lyle story. In the end I'm glad Haven got everything her heart desires.
This was definitely a book for shenanigans! Haven was too stubborn for her own good. Ellis was too stubborn for his own good. What do two people do when they are too stubborn for their own good, they make crazy decisions and self sabotage! Friends come and go but trustworthiness endures all and unfortunately we hold on to the garbage too long. This book has reinforced that you must go on with your life whether the individual that started with you is there or not (life waits on no one and sometimes you may just find love if you are open to receiving). I received this book for my honest and unbiased opinion and looking forward to the next ........
I believe that I have purchased and read all of your books and I must say that they are well worth the money. I couldn't wait until book two downloaded onto my Kindle! The wait is finally over. Loved all of the mystery, plots and hardiness. I'm not one for giving away everything in a fantastic read. I will say this, it was everything I expected with a little bit of shut yo mouth! Who is this mysterious Lyle and when can expect a story with Lyle and Talia?
Okay if you have not Read reservation for one please do because 2was just as good LaShawn had me going everywhere I was on the edge of my seat guessing who did what to who but it all came together in the oh I know you just got to give Talia and Kyle their own story Right from one of your Facebook friend (Patricia Johnson BRAVO KUDOS
I was pleased with the outcome of Haven and Ellis relationship. Ellis finally got his self together but Haven was on an emotional rollercoaster. I understood how Haven felt because of past relationships and Ellis none commitments.
The saga continues between Ellis and Haven. We now find out that Ellis's grandmother was murdered. However, who did it? The list is Vanessa, Dylan or possibly a third party. Haven is sill torn but Dylan is pushing her to get back together. Haven has a shaky suspicion she may be pregnant. Her ditsy mom shows up to get a piece of her inheritance but, Haven figures it out and that Dylan alerted her. Dylan and Vanessa are arrested and make shocking confessions. Someone tries to kill Haven by turning up her gas in her apartment. Someone further traumatizes her by slashing all her tires. Ellis goes into protective mode and then enters his friend Lyle. Ellis is trying to figure out how to get Haven to stay in his life. Upon Haven being admitted to the hospital, a secret is revealed. Ellis becomes more determined than ever to win the heart of Haven. However, Dylan may be forever tied to Haven if his wishes come true. However, Dylan's plan is cut short when he too is murdered. Surprises galore are in this sequel to A Reservation for One... Great read..Murderer was one I did not suspect.. Wish there was a book three because Lyle and Talia(Haven's true friend) leaves one guessing...Fabulous page turner..
Loved this follow up to Reservation for one. The drama and suspense was great! I will admit Haven's constant indecision was starting to annoy me but glad to know we got a happily ever after.
This series came highly recommended by two friends. And I definitely am not disappointed! And I'm hoping that there's another on the way for Lyle and Talia..
Again Msn Vasser does not disappoint. Great writing style, this is book 2 and I have to be honest I read it in one night could not put my kindle down until I had finished. I can't recommend enough go out there and read I promise you will not be disappointed
Let's start by saying I am nooo good at writing reviews or even writing myself. Now OHH MYY GOD!!! For some reason after reading the first one I did not see things going the way they did. I mean yes killed over money but the people involved I forgot from the first book. I don't want to give anything away but I sooo want to know where Ellis friend comes from and what exactly does he do.
I must say it took me a minute to post this review. I am really feeling the direction that this author's writing is going. She tends to mix it up. I was glad to see the transition of the heroine and her being stronger in what and who she wanted in her life. The hero was able to respect her boundaries and allow her to be in control of her destiny without the added pressure and that was not easy for a man who likes control. This was a nice feel good wrap up. Thanks! Until next time...
This book left me exhausted! Talk about drama overload. Haven was a pain in the A$$! Ugh she got on my last nerve! A real man would have left her indecisive behind alone! She had to many hangup for me
I TOTALLY agree w/other reviewers about trying to shake some sense into the hero/heroine...I was INTRIGUED by Haven and Ellis journey to love...WONDERING if they'd ever get it right...also GLAD to see Haven developed a backbone and was FINALLY not allowing people to walk all over her...and the bit of mystery/suspense surrounding Mrs. Bertha's death and the other shocking murder also kept me turning the pages...VERY curious if there will be a story for Lyle...I'm curious about EXACTLY what Lyle does for a living...another decent read from Mrs. Vasser...despite the editing issues.
This was a nice follow-up to the first book. It was some great twist and turns figuring out who killed Mrs McKenna. Now, even though Haven was going through a lot emotionally, she got on my nerves and even though Ellis was a douche ridden douche, it was understandable and he didn't give up on Haven.
The rating for this book in my opinion is accurate. This book was enjoyable entertaining and it had a hint of mystery in it for me. I will have to read other books by this author.
well written , high recommendation. I was glued all the way through one and two. the story line was well thought of with realistic and relatable scenarios..Am Actually falling in love with LaShawn Vasser books..Bravo
That's what this book is about. Haven was able to assert herself and get closure for everything that transpired where she was accepting less than she deserved
I read book 1 of this series and couldn't wait for book 2 but I was disappointed in book 2. I thought it would be a better read. I couldn't understand why Haven would to continue to be friends with Talia when she basically betrayed her. Her friendship did not seem genuine but self serving. Also the connection between Haven and Ellis didn't appear to be there in this book. I just found this book boring and even skipped pages because it was so boring. Let's hope the next book is better. I feel as if the next book will be about Lyle. I'm hoping Talia is not his love interest. If she is, she a psycho and try and harm him and his true love.
This was a pain to finish reading. It felt rushed and was all over the place regarding the storyline. Haven Shaw is the most annoying women character I've every read about in my life.
