I liked it. Abby's evolution all along the book made me feel like a proud mom. And I loved her friendship with Becca.

Review: This book made me laugh even though it dealt with such an important and serious subject matter. Taylor Henderson knows how to write young adult novels like no other. Though Abby, she reminds us of what it’s like to be an adolescent unsure of herself. This book is perfect for young adult readers struggling with eating disorders. It gives a message of hope but also that they aren’t alone. But it’s not just for younger readers. Moments like her friend Peyton asking “are you wearing that?” out to a fireworks celebration remind us of how people can be because we’ve all been there. These characters are real, flawed, and fun. I love them! I’m hoping to learn more about Peyton and her story in future books. Becca too.... Taylor Henderson also did a great job tying her book in with Rescue Me by Sara Schoen with the newly engaged characters of Mia and Gage. Great read and an awesome way to help kick off the series! Can’t wait to read more.

I wasn't positive what to think of coming into a series on book 2. Phat however took me by surprise. What would you do if you came home on the last day of school; and your parents are waiting to have a serious conversation with you? Next you find out without even asking how you feel but booking your summer vacation into a weight loss camp! Taylor touches briefly on two serious topics. Being born Biracial , but also on eating disorders. To find out what happens you'll have to read it! It surprised me how good it was, hopefully you will love it too! Thanks so much Taylor Henderson for taking a chance on letting me read your book. Would love to read more of them!

Read to follow the series and was plesantly surprised by the story. I wasn't sure what I was getting into with a weight loss camp, but the story was upbeat and positive. It brought to light a hard to discuss topic and had a wonderful message. I'm excited to read the follow up for this titled "Thin" for Becca's story. Henderson did a wonderful job of tying in the previous book and crafting her own world of the wellness camp.

I loved PHAT. It's PHAT. It's a great book for teens with eating disorders and the adults who love them. It's the second in the Escape from Reality series. In this series multiple authors will offer multiple genres based on the town of Escape, CO. Love this series so far. First book is Rescue Me.

In PHAT, we meet multi-faceted characters, who are spending the summer in the Escape Wellness Camp. The girls learn that people aren't always what they seem and working together is the best idea for everyone.

It's a wonderful addition to the Escape from Reality series. I look forward to the next book in the series. A new book will be available on the 15th of each month. I'll be a follower.

This was the 2nd story in the Escape From Reality series. I have really enjoyed joining everyone in the small-town of Escape, Colorado. All the Authors have been doing a great job tying all these books together into a series. This was an emotional, yet fun read that is about weight issues and eating disorders. Abby Montgomery is sent to what she refers to as Camp Fat-F#@%ers but really is the Escape Reality Wellness Camp - and does everything she can to hate it. Through group activities and therapy sessions at the hospital she learns how to better cope with her problems and try to live a healthier life. She watches her friends succeed and struggle themselves and ends up loving the camp and wanting to go back next year. I am excited to read more in the Escape From Reality series and to read more about the characters specifically in this book.
I was given an ARC copy of this book from The Author to read and review if I chose to do so. I was not compensated in any way for this review.

WOW! Another amazing read by Taylor! This book was cute, fun, and most importantly it had a positive message in it that I think will TRULY resonate with readers (especially YA lovers). The fictional town that it's set in, Escape, Colorado, was so brilliantly painted that I felt like I was standing at the camp with the MC! Five well deserved stars!

Mm. I read the 19th book in the series some time ago (as far as I can tell, it's a very loosely connected series, but books 2 and 19 share some characters and an ill-defined 'wellness camp') and had some concerns about the treatment of eating disorders within, and now...repeat.

In Phat, Abby's parents have shipped her off to Escape Reality Wellness Camp for the summer. It's clear why they've done it—Abby is bulimic, and they want help for her. But they don't tell her this, leaving her with the impression (based on the camp brochure's promises of exercise and weight loss) that they're sending her off to weight-loss camp because they can't stand how much weight she's gained.

As far as I can tell, Escape Reality Wellness Camp isn't a weight-loss camp: Abby eats whatever she wants and does, or doesn't do, whatever activities she feels like. Every weight-loss camp I've ever read about has had strict diets and strict exercise requirements, and most of the characters around Abby seem to be slim and fit. Abby loses weight, of course (because of the magic that is YA), and magically overcomes her bulimia without really trying (because of the magic that is a 150-page book, I guess), but I'm just thinking that it's a bad starting point: you don't send your kid off thinking that she's being banished to 'fat camp' to lose weight rather than getting help for a dangerous illness. (You don't send any kid with an eating disorder to weight-loss camp, ever, because if that kid doesn't already have an obsession with weight and calories, they'll come home with one...and quite aside from the eating-disorder component, I have yet to see any research to indicate that weight-loss camps are beneficial in the long run.)

It's not clear what part of this camp is about 'wellness': Abby's therapy is outsourced to a hospital in town and as far as I can tell only required for kids who might have eating disorders (in other words, the camp divides them into 'them' and 'us' and assumes that the kids will be either too oblivious or too mature to notice a difference...and also, the 'wellness' camp doesn't have any kind of therapeutic support of its own), and there's not so much as a nutrition lecture or a mandatory yoga session or...I don't know. What exactly does one do at a wellness camp? In Abby's case, it's 'whatever she wants, with zero supervision'.

And I know: I'm expecting too much of a 150-page (self-published, or self-published-adjacent?) book, and it's not the book's fault that I haven't learned better by now. I'll probably never learn.

This was my first time reading a Taylor Henderson standalone, but I have always enjoyed her anthology stories.
Phat did a great job of pulling me right into the town of Escape, Colorado for another visit, this time at the Wellness Camp.
Abby was well-written. Her guilt and insecurities felt as if they were my own. As the story went along, I wanted nothing more than for her to heal and overcome her past. I enjoyed the flow of the story as things moved along and the events toward the end of the story were very real and eye-opening. This was a fabulous book and I highly recommend it along with the other books in the series.
