Modern Esoteric: Beyond Our Senses

Rate this book
This completely reworked second edition of Modern Esoteric includes new information, over a dozen additional images, and up-to-date revisions. Winner of the Best Book Design 2014, Modern Esoteric examines the flaws in modern history and looks at how conspiracy theories, esoteric knowledge, and fringe subjects can be used to help change the dead-end course humanity seems to be following. The Lifeology section explores the long and storied "alternative narrative" of life on this planet. In the Control section, author Brad Olsen examines how Big Brother is here in the form of the New World Order, and how they keep the knowledge of humankind's true nature from the mass population. Finally, the Thrive section looks at all the ways humans are evolving to achieve their full potential.

This book is a wide but shallow spread of esoteric ideas currently captivating the imagination of Earthlings. It is a great read for someone like me who hasn't been playing around in this realm much in the last few years. It hits on a lot of stuff I already know but enjoy being reminded of and many, many new ideas that intrigue me. Olsen doesn't delve into any one topic too deeply but he gives you plenty of information so that if a topic is interesting to you you'll have plenty of information to research further. He also has a clear and robust bibliography so you can actually go read the exact books from which he is condensing information.

Pretty trippy stuff. If you want a crash course in most things weird this is the book to grab.

I like to believe in the spiritual and im all for a good conspiracy theory (JFK, Marilyn Monroe, ect). I don't entirely disagree with all of the content (such as rich people control everything) but this book is off the deep end. It does well to give a broad idea of all the same sort of stuff you would find on ancient aliens (unironically). It does have some solid science that is used as 'evidence' for theories, but the support/ link is weak at best and completely fictionalised at worst. The author somehow completely rejects science (vaccines, medicine) while attempting to use it only when it suits their own agenda/ ideas/ beliefs.

The worst part is that the author claims to be unbiased because they lack large financial supporters and bodies, which allows them to research freely, but after reading this book I have found this to be untrue.

This may be just my personal perception, but the author comes off as arrogant and pretentious in his writing and does not leave any room for critical reflection of his ideas. There is a lot of 'holier than thou' vibes for a person preaching unity and selflessness.

Finally, some of the information is just kind of wrong? The understanding of the left hand path is very one dimensional and is reminiscent of evangelical ideas of what they think witchcraft and Satanism is supposed to be (selfish, evil, theistic, wealthy ect.)

After purchasing the 'The Esoteric Series,' it is obvious to me, that these are in a category all their own. I see them as encyclopedias; filled with ancient history and deep truths. Brad's writing's are like taking a trip to Treasure Island, in every chapter. Brad, with an endless Well of knowledge, total recall when discussing these topics and a seemingly photographic memory. Quite the Trifecta and a valuable addition to everyone's library.
