A solid entry for our intrepid detective Gabe and his sassy hairdresser of a boyfriend Josh. This is definitely not a standalone as each book seems to build on the community that is Blissville, interweaving characters (both alive and dead) and what looks like an overreaching arc that might just span the entire series.

Again, I thoroughly enjoy Gabe the most. The sexy law enforcement guy just ticks off so many of my boxes, and Josh sure is one lucky man! These two have been through some rough patches, but their love is solid and the ending paves the way for more permanence.

If you like established couples who are already living the happily ever after but still have plenty of external challenges, then this is for you! Admittedly, not as smexy as the prior two books and there is a small cheese factor, I still found this easy enjoyable escapism!

This is the third story in the sassy and sexy Curl Up & Dye Mysteries series, following now-established couple Gabe and Josh as they continue to be madly in love and building their lives together, while Gabe works tirelessly to solve a murder investigation that seems to be more complex and dangerous than initially expected.

This series continues to provide plenty of satisfaction in the romance department, with Gabe and Josh proving to be quite the lovely book couple. Their love is so damn passionate and whole, and although a lot of their interactions are oftentimes a bit sappy in nature, I’ve easily been convinced that a bit of sap is well-worth the price of admission if it means getting to read about their deeply romantic and seriously steamy relationship.

On the mystery side of things, new developments have been made in the murder investigation Gabe is involved in, with new players coming to light and more murders being committed. Although some things are mostly wrapped up by the end of this instalment, the case is still very much open, and I’m sure more deaths will be committed and more dangers will befall our heroes before as is said and done.

I wouldn’t recommend reading any of these books as standalones, not only because the series follows the relationship of one couple, but because I have a feeling by book six everything mystery-related will come full circle, making it a damn impossibility to read these stories as one-offs without major confusion, so do yourself a favour and attack-read them in order!

I had forgotten how much I love these two.

Originally read October 2019

I am loving this series so much. Josh and Gabe are definitely on my favorite couples list. I love how they both has some insecurities still but they don't let it ruin their relationship. They talk it out and work through it.

I will say, after the mystery has continued through two books regarding Nate, I was a little disappointed it seemed to be sort of anti-climatic....just kind of wrapped up suddenly. Maybe it was just me that felt like that. But, as far as the relationship between these two, I am loving them so much. There's also new people introduced and new relationships forming. Though, I got to say, I probably won't be reading a few of their stories due to my own personal preferences and reviews. I hate that because Emory was one I was really interested in but dead exes are NOT my thing.

On to the next one...

Oops, I think the Oracle-guy shows up in this book instead of the last one. I read them back-to-back and they've blended together. That's what I get for putting off my reviewing. So... yeah, at some point an oracle comes into the series. And then other stuff happens.

There, I fixed it. No more confusion possible.

The romance between Gabe and Josh just keeps getting better. Sure, there are what some might consider excessive endearments and lovey-dovey sweetness between the two, but I admit it...I love the schmaltzy fluffiness between Gabe and Josh. There's no shortage of hot, sexy scenes, and Gabe and Josh are melding into a fairy tale-esque perfect couple. I love all the supporting characters and the family that Gabe and Josh are gathering around them. It's especially funny to see how determined Josh is to make sure his besties also find their own happily-ever-afters.

There are some answers to long-awaited questions readers of the series have been waiting for and some mysteries are tied up as well. While I felt the mystery element was handled better this time around, I can't help but to wish that it wouldn't continue to have parts partially tied up off page or told anecdotally after the fact. It's my biggest peeve from the series, but it seems the pattern is set and that's just how things work. There were some things that weren't explained that I still would love an answer to - my biggest example of this is where was the old man getting all those millions from? His house and barns are described as practically falling apart at the seams, but it's never explained just where all the cash and accounts came from.

Told once again from both Josh and Gabe's points of view, there's a pretty solid ending to this one, one that melted my heart, but it does set up the next book. I'm really glad that I came to this series later on when all the books had been written because I can (and have) just pick up book 4, I Do, or Dye Trying, on Kindle Unlimited and don't have to wait to get my next Gabe and Josh fix.

*** A marvelous series, awesome characters, and super hot lovin' !
This third book in the series is really exciting ! We have a big, complicated case going on where everyone seems guilty, a mysterious new neighbor who is psychic, and the continued romance of our magnetic men.
* Josh 30, owns his hair salon,

and is handsome, sassy, and the sexy boyfriend of Gabe. With grey hair and dark scruff, Josh can be described as beautiful and graceful, plus classic and masculine.
* Our detective, Gabe, 36, is a muscled and magnificent

man who is in love with Josh, no matter what.

With their pets and chaos all around them these days, they find peace and contentment in each other's arms. They are so fun to watch. Their sexy times get sexier and more passionate than ever. (a little tying up, but no BDSM).
The story is well written and holds our attention, with the murder, drugs, more murder, a fire, etc..
The last chapter is fabulous, fun, and fantastic !

What about Jon and Emory?
I'm looking forward to book four in May 2017.
I highly recommend this marvelous series and terrific characters.
ENJOY !

This was great ! I love Josh & Gabe ❤ the crime investigation continues but with new characters coming into the fold - or for Sunday dinner ! Emory has my interest and I hope we get to see him unravel a bit in the next book. As for Chaz & Kyle, please no more slow burn - get on with it ! A really enjoyable series

I can’t believe we are getting more!! To be continued was an awesome last sentence for this book!!

This series is easily becoming one of my favorites to read. It is the perfect mix of mystery, romance, fun and off the charts heat. It isn’t over the top, all of these traits blend seamlessly and it just works very well.

The third book in the series really brought it. It wrapped up so many loose ends and was really focused on the investigation but it never felt like it overpowered the rest of the story. The focus on the relationship weighed just as much. I loved watching how settled Josh and Gabe were; with each other and all other aspects of their lives. They are truly building a life together and the foundation it is being built on is solid as a rock. They work on it but make it look easy. They are growing as individuals and as a couple. Their future looks so very bright!

I can’t help but mention it again. I am beside myself with the thought of another book in this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next for Josh and Gabe.

Josh and Gabe while on a romantic double date with Adrian and his wife Sally Ann, Gabe sees what he believes is a dead man walking into the same restaurant. After asking the waiter the man's name, Gabe does some investigating and finds the man's life only started two years ago. During the investigation of Nate's murder several more murders happen, all with the same MO. The mystery actually started in book#2 and finally has it's conclusion here. Josh and Gabe...what are we going to do with these guys, Gabe the cop and Josh the beauty stylist? Their slightly goofball romance began as them being one step from enemies and then transformed into a hesitant love. In this book?... they light up every chapter. We learn things from alternating points of view some with humor, some with love and others with some really torrid stuff. The plot is complicated than the last two books because there are so many suspects and another gruesome murder in this small Ohio town where Gabe is lead detective in a crime spree and Josh keeps half the town's ladies and some of the men. He's happy with his crazy salon and I love his incredibly funny foul-mouthed parrot. Don't even try to figure mystery out...just read and enjoy your time with Josh and Gabe.

Dyed and Gone to Heaven is Book 3 in Aimee Nicole Walker's series, Curl Up and Dye Mysteries. This story continues with Gabe and Josh, following their romance and the mysteries that keep surrounding their lives and people they are associated with - while one mystery gets solved in this book, there are still some loose-ends, some foreshadowing that tells the reader there is more surprises coming in the final book of the series.

So, this story moves along at a nice steady pace and I found myself experiencing a variety of emotions while reading it. The author has introduced some new supporting characters and it makes me wonder if book four will have a happy ending for more than Just Josh and Gabe.

As with books one and two, Josh and Gabe know how to turn up the heat and get down and dirty, these two are very creative and fun together and I love how they are portrayed! "I’d had good sex, and even great sex, but being joined with Josh was… magical." Suspenders will never be the same..ahem.

One of the things that I have loved about this series the most is Gabe and his self-assured attitude in regards to his sexuality. He is a gay man. He makes no apologies for being gay, he shows Josh love and affection when he wants and doesn't try to censure their actions for fear of what others will think, he is a man who is confident with who he wants and that just makes him so much sexier- it's a nice aspect of the story. I also love that even though he may be considered on the "macho" side of the spectrum he loves Josh and all his flamboyant qualities - they fit. Not to mention that these two are already starting to rub off on each other, their wicked banter and snarky comments are spot on and I loved it! "The sarcasm rolled off his tongue so naturally, it was like he was born to snark."

Overall, this was another great addition to the series and I really don't want to tell you what happens in the story - all I will say is there are lots of new beginnings, Mystery, plenty of sexy times, all the feelz needed and these two are well on their way to a perfect HEA!
I had found a man—or maybe, like with trouble, he found me— who was steeped in goodness. I admired his dedication to his family, friends, and justice. I loved that he was patient with me when I struggled at times to fight my demons and that he accepted me for how I was, not who he thought I should be. Of all the gifts that Gabe brought to my life, those were my two favorites. And somehow, someway, that beautiful soul was in love with me.

4 stars and a definite recommendation!!

Dyed and Gone to Heaven is book three in Aimee Nicole Walker’s Curl Up and Dye Mysteries series. We’ve been following Josh and Gabe for a while now. The murders have been piling up and we all have been trying to connect all the dots. Well it looks like we have come full circle and there’s an end game here.

I know there’s more to this series coming so that’s what keeps the tears at bay. These two have gone from fighting with each other constantly, to lusty, raw magnetic sex, to the best kind of love out there. I have loved every second of their journey. I love where their life is going together and when this book ended I admit I did a happy dance.

The secondary characters are all fabulous. We see Meredith and Chaz of course as well as SallyAnn and Adrian. There’s the town folk and Kyle aka Dr. Dimples. The addition of Emory and someone else (I'm not sure I can say who it may be a spoiler) was super pleasant and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Aimee has made us bust trying to find the crazy murderer and she wraps it all up well. Are there questions still lingering? Of course. But I get the impression that we’ll get those in the next book or others to come. I love the character growth in both Josh and Gabe throughout this series and where they got to in this book was fantastic.

The covers for this series have been hot and gorgeous. Jay Aheer has out done herself with them and they really add that extra something to the series as well.

I found the balance of mystery, fluff, grittiness, and realism to be perfect in this book as well as the entire series. Well done!

I know I said I wasn't going to continue this series, but I decided to try anyway because I do love book 1 and it was all set to be great. Book 3 is still way overboard with the sappy, sweet, romance between Josh and Gabe, it's forcing their love down our throat, ugh. I get it, they're happy and in love, yada, yada, yada, and the "jokes" between Gave and his partners and task force, also forced humor, cringe worthy. But, overlooking all of that, I still love Josh. I am going to have to skip a lot of stuff in the rest of the books, I can tell, but I want to see how it all plays out with Josh, Gabe, and there growing gang of friends, who are finding love. And the parrot!! Love that damn bird!

I'll keep the rating at 3 stars, but it's a faint 3 stars because this is just an over-the-top story/plot/emotional story. Started book 4 yesterday during my commute home. I am farther along than ever. On to the finish!

2017 review
I'm not sure why I didn't leave a rating or review when I finished this book. The series didn't go the way I expected. Loved book 1, book 2 was good, book 3 was ok. I am not going to keep going with this series because things just became a little too outlandish and overboard. But I could re-read book 1 and the prequel over and over. ;)

I like Gabe and Josh, but in this installment, I found them kind of boring. It was like being in a rut as they went to work, ate dinner, had sex and repeat. They have grown as a couple and when they did talk I enjoyed them together. I really liked where they ended off and I am looking forward to the upcoming book to see how things work out. I was also quite invested in Chaz and Kyle and even new neighbor Emory, and I like how Mere, Chaz and Josh support each other and have a nice family of friends bond.

It was nice to finally wrap up the mystery(s) that started in the first book, but was a bit disappointed that not all of it played out on page. There was a lot going on so some bits seemed to end abruptly or without a full explanation, but I was kept guessing as to who was behind what right up until the end of the story.

I'll still be reading along to see what happens next. One thing I feel the need to point out is the misuse of words (one that keeps coming up is "formerly" used in place of "formally") and some mistakes a proofreader should have picked up, only because they did occasionally jolt me out of the narrative.

This was a good book, but not as good as the first two. The over the top love and gushing in this one kind of made me a little sick though. And don't even get me started on the Josh's nickname! I did enjoy the mystery and thought that part was well done. And after finishing it, I do have to say that in the end I love Josh and Gabe together and I will be reading the next one.

I think my time in this series has come to an end. These books aren't bad, but I am getting bored in them. The 'mystery' aspect of these are in the background and sex is overpowering the stories. I'm all for smut in my books, but I need a balance.

What I liked about Josh in book one is starting to grate on my nerves. Or maybe it's that he comes across really cheesy. Or maybe it's the narrator and how he portrays Josh. Gabe is a bit better, but not by much.

Josh and Gabe continue to be awesome - and continue to keep moving up my list of favorite gay romance book couples!

What I think I loved most about this was the sense of friendship and family that grew in this one. Sunday night dinners were always Josh, Meredith, and Chaz, and how Gabe. But by the end of things, that number had pretty much doubled as Kyle and Emory and Gabe's coworkers are now getting invites. I always love stories that have that strong sense of family and a group, and that's definitely the case with this story.

I'm super interested in Emory and Jonathan and think their story is in the spin-off series, right?

Really enjoying this series, moving on to the 4th one!

I really like these characters, but the sexual/relationship tension between Gabe and Josh, which made the first book so compelling to me, has been completely resolved in this third instalment. I also didn’t find the mystery in this book particularly compelling either, as it was written almost entirely without any tension. I was expecting a thrilling conclusion to the case which has spanned two books now, but it was resolved neatly and straightforwardly at the end of this book.

From reading the summary of the fourth book, it sounds like there might be more tension in the plot so I will probably pick this series up again when I’m in the mood for a fluffier read.

Ohhhh the cuteness <3 <3 Definitely my favorite of the series so far, with some really great steamy scenes sprinkled in. We meet some new characters too! I kind of hope they either get their own books and/or we see more of them in the next book. I actually didn't think this series needed another book because everything was wrapped up so nicely at the end of this one, but I saw that there will be a 4th book too. I'm not complaining, because I really love these guys.

I'm totally enjoying this series and Josh's snark and Gabe's love for him are growing on me. This series should be read in order and somehow I started bass-ackwards with an audio about a year ago and then got into the spinoff Road to Blissville series so I'm making my way back through this series to get all the background info.

And, man, do I love Gabe calling Josh "Sunshine" and I love their dirty-talking parrot, all the secondary characters at the hair salon, their neighbors and their ex-boyfriends, and all the cops. There's so many characters in this series there's bound to be one or two everyone can like. In this instance I loved the side trip Josh took to Cincinnati to do the talk show and I especially loved what happened on the last day of filming.

Book three wraps up Nate's murder that left us hanging in book 2, although I would have like to know the killer's reason.

With Gabe and his team chasing many suspects and yet another heinous murder, Josh is being his fabulous self in his high demand salon, with Savage, his hilarious and foul-mouthed parrot.

Gabe and Josh's relationship is moving along, turning a bit static with a lot of sex scenes. Even the crime aspect became a bit dormant for me, especially not knowing the what and the why.
For me it was more about the Sunday dinners, about the people joining and looking forward to their stories.
And C.B. Hesterson? I bet that is Chaz..

Buddy read with the gals from Turning Pages At Midnight

This book suffers from "growing pains". Josh and Gabe are now a couple and firmly in love. What to do with them next?

Fortunately Walker avoided the too often used misunderstanding, big fight, breakup story line. Josh and Gabe grew as individuals and as a couple. They thought before they spoke, talked things out and worked at being a better version of themselves.

Now for the unfortunate part... this book was just a little boring. She had four dead bodies to deal with, a physic moving to town, Josh doing a spot on TV, and matchmaking galore with Kyle and Chaz. All this but the book was still a tad boring. The first two books had crisp gossip scenes at Josh's salon. In this one we have Josh starting his day with a run, planning dinner, and self reflection.

Gabe gets up drives to Cincinnati, another body turns up, they interview a few folks, some self reflection and its back home. If you are doing a mystery, you need some suspense. Maybe have the killer target someone close to Josh or Gabe, a car chase, a shoot out... something to add some excitement.

With nothing really happening in Josh's salon or Gabe's cases, the sex in this one should have been off the chart - so not the case. Nothing much happens on page until about the 75% mark. At this point, the reader is ready to scream. Dinner, cooking, shopping, driving to Cincinnati, etc have long since bored the poor reader into a stupor.

Josh and Gabe are a great couple. I like the opposites attracts type thing. I really like that they respect each other and neither tries to change the other. I think Walker used this book as a setup for couples in the next one. I will definitely give it a read.

Freaking adorable.
I worried for nothing.

I thought that four books about the same couple would fizzle out, and bore me. Three books in, and I'm sad I only have one left! The mystery part is a lot of leg work, so not always the most exciting parts to read, but the relationships are fantastic. Gabe and Josh are perfect together, and all of their friends are wonderful.

Aimee Nicole Walker always makes every character in her story seem complete, even if the light doesn't fully shine on them until they get their own story. Many stories, whether they are good or not, focus so much on the main couple, that all supporting characters are somewhat forgettable. That's never a problem with ANW's work. I want need the next guy's story. Like Chaz, I already love him.

Fatal Reaction, the prequel to the series, had a bit of the mystical mixed with the mystery. Now we have a bit more of the mystical side of life back in Blissville in the form of the new neighbor, Emory. A psychic, my automatic response is an eye roll, but putting that aside, he is an intriguing addition.

This series has proved that it is a grower. It gets better with every book.

A great addition to the series that I enjoyed even more than the previous books.

The relationship between these two men is stronger and even more enjoyable to read about. They are just so damn adorable. I love how Gabe loves Josh. He is so self assured and has no problem expressing his feelings for Josh either to him or in public. He is confident in himself and his feelings and always reassures Josh of how much he cares for him when Josh is feeling any kind of insecurities either about himself or their relationship. I love how Josh takes care of Gabe. He has grown so much personally and in the relationship he has with Gabe and it shows.

Once again the author gives us some good mystery and some more surprises. We get some new characters that I hope to learn more about in the future books. Still loving the friendships and all the pets. Looking forward to the last book!

Happy reading dolls! xx

This book had a lot going on in it the whole multiple murders and what not and I think perhaps the author is setting up to do multiple spin-offs because there was a whole lot of side character action going on in this one. Not saying I wouldn't look forward to those because I totally am. Give me Emroy and Johnathon, Chaz and Kyle (I'm invested in this one) hell I even want some Meredith and Harley but lets keep focus on the mains here. I felt like the only time the main couple were together in this one was when they were sexing it up. I still do look forward to the fourth.
side-note: I am not at all into the psychic thing the author has going on with Emroy. She lost me there.
