When Ella Sweeting, aromatherapist witch-in-training, stumbles over the body of Helen Christianson, the leading mayoral candidate, she knows Detective Garza will have her head for getting mixed up in yet another murder. But when Garza herself is attacked, there's no holding back.
Finding herself at the helm of police department in turmoil, Ruby the cop turns to Ella for help in solving the murder. But as the attacks increase, and Rory starts to get suspicious of Ella and her Aunt's magic, Ella finds herself in more trouble than she could ever imagine.
Another solid read but not extraordinary in any way. Can they find who killed the candidate? Will Garza recover? The story is a bit lacklustre and there doesn't seem to be any improvement as the series goes on. I will not be reading any more of these. However if you enjoy cozy mysteries then you might like this.
Detective Garza is as mean as ever, but when she gets clunked on the head at a murder scene and ends up in a coma, Ruby asks Ella for her help. The victim is Helen Christianson, the leading mayoral candidate and one of Ella's aromatherapy clients. Ella happens to be first on scene, as the victim had an appointment to tackle the stress of the election with Ella. She sees a key piece of evidence, which disappears before the police close the scene. When other candidates are attacked, it's clear the killer may strike again. Will they solve it before Garza wakes up?
And Rory is about to figure it out...she'd better get on top of that or fill him in before the magic turns to mayhem.
