When you gamble with the truth...

Carlotta Wren is off on another adventure--this time following a lead from her jailbird father to Las Vegas to find out what happened to her long-lost mother. Unaware of Carlotta's mission, her brother Wesley tags along with grandiose designs of winning big with a secret bag of cash he found. But as soon as the Wren siblings hit Sin City, their luck runs cold. A dead man spoils Carlotta's plan and before she knows it, the entire gang from Atlanta has descended to aid, abet, and aggravate. Wes has problems of his own when it turns out the found money belongs to seriously bad men who want it back.

You might lose more than you can afford...

With the odds stacked against them, Carlotta and Wes keep rolling the dice. Too late, Wes learns he's accidentally blown his father's case wide open. Someone wants the Wrens--all of them--to cash in their chips for good. And when Carlotta uncovers the real reason behind her parents' disappearance, it yanks her life in a new direction.

USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.

Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.

In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,

Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.

Another good book by Stephanie Bond. I missed this slew of characters. Also, I'm really happy that we finally got some answers after 8 books. I discovered this series a couple years ago and I've loved every book since. I love Carlotta's character - she just has such a personality on her. Of course, I'm always rooting for Jack Terry. There is just something about him that I love.

Spoiler ahead:

This book broke my heart when I realized that Jack and Carlotta wouldn't get together in this book. Carlotta gets engaged to Peter who is so wrong for her and Jack is with Liz who is having his baby. Like what?! Noooooo! We finally had Carlotta ready to realize that she loves Jack....*stomp foot*. Stephanie Bond definitely creates really good dialogue between these characters. It isn't forced. It seems natural. We definitely get a twist at the end. I was not expecting it - so it gives me hope for Carlotta & Jack :) :)

The only complaint about this book was that it certainly wasn't long enough! Now, I have to wait for another book!

Yeah, another book in this series! This book is similar like only one book, I think 3, when it's not all in Atlanta! Loved it, and it wrapped up a lot of threads! Can't wait for the next book!

Even in Vegas, Carlotta can find trouble. I am so pleased with Peter's procession in this book. i listed to this one on audible. i think that it could benefit from an actual male voice. some of the characters end up sounding like grannies instead of men.

+10 points!

It really is hard to review a book that you're loyal to, objectivity can sometimes seem lost because you're falling in love with the characters. After reading this book I have an empty tissue box, A bruise heart ina good way because it will allow the story to keep unfolding and last but not least I have yet another great story complete with book hangover.

It's difficult to describe the story without spoilers. Carolotta continues on her journey of wanting to see her family back together the way it was before her mother and father flew the coop. Speaking of Coop and Jack and Peter also take part in this new adventure as well as Hannah and Westly and a few others I'm forgetting the name.

It's worth your time to read this book, it's worth your money to read this book, and most of all questions are answered by the millions!

Unfortunately, I can no longer stand the character Carlotta. Ms. Bond has made her into a ridiculous , indecisive whiny female. I have absolutely no sympathy for this character. I no longer buy this series, but borrow from the library, because it is no longer worth it. But I still feel badly because her previous has were so worth reading.

I love this series!

After reading Janet Evanovich, it was hard to find a series with silliness and suspense. Carlotta fits the bill. Well worth your time if you want an entertaining read!!

Ah man. I love when a book's plot actually advances. I just can't believe how quickly that book went by, and I cannot wait to see what happens next. We better get an update on the Wrens' lives soon!

Quick easy read that ties up some lose ends of this long running series. It is nice to visit the Wren family again especially after following them for years. It did feel a bit like the author felt like she needed to give these folks an ending and wrote this a bit quickly. It finishes way too quickly and cleans up 8 novels worth of drama and turmoil in just a few pages.

Overall as escapist and implausible this series is, I like them as a go-to easy read almost like a good friend or palate cleanser after a heavier book. I definitely would read more of them and hope that there are some "happy ever afters" for some of the characters that we've gotten to know so well.

I thought it interesting that this book didn't take place in Atlanta, didn't really expect to see all the characters we have gotten to know. Yet somehow (preposterously) all of them showed up, I had a hard time buying into that, along with a few other things. Things seemed to get wrapped up a little to pat for me. All of a sudden we know it all, why Carlotta's parents ran, what really happened with the money and how yet another person close to Carlotta turned out to be a bad guy and Wes once again made stupid moves that his sister had to clean up. I thought we finally would get some resolution about Carlotta and all the men in her life, but no, even that ended up in the air.

Big decline

This book was a big decline from the previous 7. The plot was threadbare, the central conflict/mystery was almost paper thin, and there were lots of distracting errors in the last 1/3 of the book. Most of all, it seemed very rushed, especially the last 1/3, almost like the author got bored with the book.

The only upside to the book is the family plot is finally wrapped up. Hopefully now Carlotta will start moving bodies again, Coop will play a bigger role, and and Peter will be phased out.

Seemed like this was written in a bit of a hurry because there were spelling and grammatical errors throughout. I still loved the characters and the trouble they seem to get themselves into. The way this ended makes me wonder if it is the last of this series.

Ok I am happy to finally have some questions answered but I gotta say some of the answers were crap. I think that in order to stretch out this series for as long as it has gone the author had to sprinkle in little details here and there to bide her time. Unfortunately those details made it difficult to create a story that made sense, and the story that the author came up with is weak at best.

- If Randolph was afraid for his life and concerned for his family why not take his kids with him?
- Why not re-contact the feds when he was in hiding (he says it’s so Carly won’t have to raise Wesley, prissy, and care for her mom but they would still be rich if they were exonerated)

Other things that bugged me:

- It is really hypocritical of Carly to break up with Peter because he’s getting arrested. It’s basically the reverse of the end of their relationship 10 years ago.
(She should have dumped him long ago but that’s another issue)
- it is a bit annoying that Carly never really figured her relationship shit out, two out of her three suitors just happened too either get someone preggers, or get arrested
- how did the fbi guy get that P.O. box address?
- how did Liz know how much money was stashed in the walls of the house/where it was when no one had told her/ if she knew the whole time then why not get ride of the evidence?
- I have no idea how investment places work... do they normally handle real money? I thought it was mostly online but I could be 100% wrong about that
- seriously Wes acts like such a caring brother but his first instinct when finding a bunch of money is to gamble rather than use a tiny fraction to help pay of some house bills/his sisters credit cards
- how did birch manage to keep everyone hidden for so long when he was easily followed home?
- why did birch go home when he admitted he knew he was being followed?
- Carly seriously couldn’t recognize her own mom (or dad in previous books) but somehow can pick out faces she’s seen briefly once before and remember there name
- the other partners being guilty was unbelievably obvious
- why didn’t Walt check in on his god children, it’s not like he was actually mad about being bilked since he was the bilker (i’m making it a word!) and Randolph was his best friend
- why was Randolph refusing to talk to anyone?
- it’s awfully convenient that a guard count bring Randolph his food (total bullshit)

Things that were awesome:

-poo to the face!!! Hahaha
- finally wrapping up some drawn out as shit story lines
- Hannah and Carly bonding (aww)
- Carly and prissy bonding (aww) (prissy is a horrible name btw)
- jack not acting like a jackass for once
- chance has gone from one of my least liked characters to one of my favs with how obsessed he is over Hannah.
- Leonard is finally dead!
- a reasonable and heartbreaking explanation as to why Valerie left with Randolph

8 Bodies is Enough: Body Movers 8
Reading in chronogical order recommneded.

In A Nutshell: An enjoyable romp in mysteries of fraud, murder and love. Endearing characters brought to life with a smooth flow.

The Plot: Carlotta Wren ( the protagonist) is chasing down leads to find her mother in Las Vegas. On returning to her hotel room, she discovers the body of her neighbour. So what's he doing (dead or alive) so far from home in her hotel room? Carlotta calls home for help from Jack (detective), and Coop (Mortuary man). It's a continuing saga and adventure.

The Protagonists: Carlotta Wren, once from a privileged background, finds herself working at a large department store in sales. Carlotta is good at it. She has raised her brother since her parents disappeared. Carlotta is a strong character to manage those circumstances. But she also manages the sneers of rich people who were once her peers. And the shame of her embezzling father. Along the way, she finds the energy to more corpses and solves murders.

In a well-developed world, filled with entertaining characters, we can all recognise, Stephanie Bond neatly concludes the loose ends. They could not go on forever and were in danger of becoming boring. Carolotta and brother Wren resolve the embezzlement mystery. And they are one step closer to bringing the family together. Parts of the story are sickly sweet; others are silly. It was too neat for one character to appear and die in moments suddenly. No spoilers here. Nonetheless, the book will keep you turning the pages and is entertaining. Best of all this book opens up new possibilities for book nine.

Fans will love it. I find it a good read.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it nicely wrapped up a lot of questions from previous books. I wouldn't be surprised though if this was the final book in the series.

I know some people, like me a lot of the time while reading books, just can't stand the suspense and have to know what happens before it is revealed in the book. For those of you like me, here you go-

The continuing saga of Carlotta Wren and her brother Wes has been frustrating readers for years. Carlotta has gone from Peter to Cooper to Jack, and circumstances force her once again to focus on Peter. Wes has been in and out of so much trouble that it is nearing impossible to know where he stands at the present time. However he does have his eye on a girl, so seems to be trying to get out of his sinkhole!

Peter and Carlotta are trying to give their lost romance another shot, and have gone to Vegas. Wes has been invited as well, and he in turn invited friends Chance and Hanna. Peter has business to attend to and so does Carlotta; she has reason to believe her mother is in the area. With her father in the federal prison at home. she believes her mother has information to set him free.

A whirlwind of happenings including a dead body in the safe of Carlotta's closet bring Cooper and Jack to Las Vegas to try and figure out who the stalker is. Before long Wes is in trouble and his lawyer (and Jack's baby's mama) comes out as well. There are so many twists and turns that you simply have to read this book to believe it! It finally ties up some loose ends that have been niggling at readers for several books.

I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who has read the series! If you have never read the books in the series, you are in for a real treat! Also finishing this book will result in a satisfied sigh! Fortunately, Stephanie Bond has promised that this isn't the end of the series!!! She will return with new stories! YAY!!

I really hate when she ends these things in a cliffhanger. I know that she wants to sell more books, but I hate having to wait to find out what happens.

This book answers a lot of questions and had me crying at more than one point. < spoiler> I'm glad that things finally get resolved with Peter. He was never the right fit for Carlotta and I'm glad it finally gets written out that their paths diverged a long time ago. I mean, how can you ever trust someone who was willing to spy on you.

Even though Bond tried to bring Coop's storyline to an end, I'm glad we still get to see him. Even if he's not with Carlotta, he's one of my favorite characters-- which is why I get upset when Bond tries to set him up for something shady.

The whole thing with Hannah is what's really bugging me. I know that in the last trio of books we get introduced to a whole new side of Hannah, but these girls are supposed to be friends, and having Hannah disappear throughout the book is kinda obnoxious. Carly shouldn't ever be struggling to find someone to confide in, Hannah should be there for her every step of the way.

And the whole marriage to Chance thing? Ew. Just, no. That needs to go away, and soon.

I can't wait to read the next book. I'm just bummed that I can't get it printed like I did this one.

I forgot how much I love this series! It’s been a couple years since I read book 7 of the body movers series because my library stopped carrying the new ones, but luckily I just picked up book 8 and 9. Within the first few pages I remembered everything and jumped right back into Carlotta’s hectic life. I think I first picked up this series because it was recommended as being similar to the Stephanie Plum books, and while they do have some similarities this one just gets me hooked so much more. Carlotta is a strong lead character that is a survivor and a hot mess all at the same time! 8 Bodies is Enough has Carlotta going to Vegas to find her long lost mother and trying to reconnect with her ex-fiance Peter. It wouldn’t be a Body Movers book without the whole gang so Wes, Hannah, Chance, Jack and Coop all make an appearance after Carlotta finds a dead body in her hotel room. So many loose ends that have been around since the very first book were tied up in this book and I am so happy to finally have answers to my questions. Of course, the ending sentence for the book had me reeling when it mentioned which name was written on the bathroom stall… oh the love triangle! I am curious what will happen in book 9 now that so many of the issues have been resolved.

The audiobook narrator somehow gets worse with each book (annoying mispronunciations, horrible character "accents" (ie. Hannah) etc.). I didn't think I could despise Wesley any more than I had in previous books yet his greed and stupidity in this book put him on yet another level. I was actually hoping that the Carver would be successful with his hit or someone in jail would off him; but we're still stuck with the idiot for the rest of the books I guess.

I'm glad that we finally got resolution on Randolph's storyline. However, I didn't buy into any reasoning that it would take 10 years for him to get the truth out. He and Valerie still knowingly abandoned their children and was ok with it stating that they were "monitoring them". Well in what universe would any parent think Carlotta & Wesley were doing well in their lives??? Loan sharks, drug addiction, gambling addiction, extreme debt, etc. They're both disasters. The entire Wren family is generally unlikable. I can't imagine how the author will find 4 more books worth of material now that the family drama is resolved.

Ohhh this series. I am invested in the characters and I want to keep reading, but I'm hoping to enjoy the next one a little more. This book opens with Carlotta and Peter flying to Las Vegas. Carlotta is trying to forget about Jack, so she bought a pink elastic bracelet that she snaps every time she thinks of him. A lot of things happen in this book (yay!), but if you took out all the sentences that said, "Carlotta snapped the pink bracelet" it would have been a very short book. I purchased this one from Audible so I could listen to it in the car. I will probably go back to reading the rest of the series. The narrator was fine until she voiced Hannah's character. Her voice for Hannah was like fingernails on the chalkboard for me. Sooo, I'll read the next one relatively soon. There won't be a pink bracelet or an annoying Hannah voice. That should help a lot.

Wow, finally a lot of closure! Not really sure what else is left for the last 4 books in the series, but wow.

In this book, Carlotta ends up heading to Las Vegas because she gets a tip on where to find her mother. She brings Peter with her to investigate while he is working with clients in NV.

Hannah and Chance also come along. Wes finds some money and the three of them head to Vegas to find some gambling to do.

Then the neighbor next to their townhouse shows up dead in Carlotta's room. This causes her to invite Jack and Coop (and Liz comes along) to help solve the mystery.

Many other mysteries get solved in this book. This was a fun story and a lot of stuff happens. Such a fun series.

Well, I’m glad the main storyline through the books has been resolved, but I’m not sure how I feel about what happened. For Randolph to say he had no regrets for how he handled everything… just wow.

Wesley is stupid yet again. If Liz is an attorney in Georgia, it doesn’t seem likely she is also licensed in Nevada. I fail to see how a former ME and a detective in Atlanta could just jump right in with agencies in Las Vegas. I think there were some minor errors in character names since some people used multiple different ones, and I’m not entirely clear on how the villain of this book really fits or why Randolph couldn’t just come forward with the information years ago. But I’ll finish out the series.

I'm so glad Stephanie Bind continued on with the Body Movers series. I love Carlotta and the gang. This adventure takes them all to Las Vegas to look for Carlotta and Wes's mother since their father is back and in custody after 10 years on the run. Carlotta ties to rekindle her romance with ex-fiancé Peter while getting over Detective Jack Terry who is about to be a father with viper lawyer Liz. There is murder, mayhem, jail, death and some shocking secrets revealed. Thankfully even with most of the stories tied up, Bond leaves room for more books in the series which makes me happy because Carlotta needs a happy ending, Wes needs to grow up, and choices need to be made.

This time the main cast of characters is in Las Vegas. The vacation turns into a working vacation when Carlotta finds a dead body in her hotel room. Mayhem and chaos follow Carlotta and her friends/family to sin city. I was quite surprised by the ending. The "bad guy" who is following Carlotta and probably means to harm/kill her is totally out of left field. I think most people will be shocked. I don't want to give away any spoilers, you just have to read the book.

The next book in this series is only on Kindle, so not sure when I will get to read that one.
