First off... a Chinese restaurant with the name The Fat Kok?!

That definitely grabbed my attention. RIGHT away. The author's writing, the plot, the characters and their chemistry with one another are what held it.

Darcy was afraid to love. After losing her fiance four years ago from a heart attack, she changed. She established a charity that helped young adults with heart disease and their families, she threw herself into her work as a strategist for her father's company, and she limited her personal life. Her social calendar was full of one-night stands. She didn't do second dates or relationships.

Liam was the man to change all of that. He was also familiar with the one-night stand rule as he used it quite often himself. However, he realized that what was between them was something different. That they shared a connection that surpassed all expectations. A connection he refused to allow Darcy to run or hide away from. The chemistry between these characters and their feelings for one another were almost tangible. I loved how vulnerable the author allowed these two to be with each other. It's what made them less one-dimensional and gave me the chance to explore their depth.

My only issue with this story was its climax. It fell a bit flat for me, but that could be because I'm a romantic suspense junkie, so when something suspenseful happens, I expect it to be explored and more detailed. More dramatic. Otherwise I don't see its point. Aside from that, AROUSAL was a sensual tale of taking risks and an arousing story of second chance romance.

I read this book through Billionaire Bad Boys ARC (which includes 3 other books) and I was so impressed! It was the first book written by Simone that I’ve read and I had no idea what to expect. But now, after reading Arousal, I’m 100% sure that I will read all her books.
About this book: there is one thing that made me angry all the time - Darcy’s father! OMG! I wanted to kill that man. He was such an awful person! And his attitude 🙄, don’t even get me started about his way of speaking with others (especially with his daughter).
But beside him, I loved every character in the book. Darcy, Liam, Chase (I had a little crush on Chase even though he wasn’t the main character). Darcy and Liam were such a perfect fit. From the beginning. But how amazed I was when I found out who Liam really was and which were his plans. That made me stare at the wall for a second.
And all that travelling. I love to travel. And I get really sad when I read about people who can go everywhere they want and see all those amazing places (and yes, I know it’s not real - it’s fiction, but still... I would like to switch places with those characters so I can travel where I want to).
Last but not least, after reading this book, I really need to use those chocolate tricks. 😈

ARC exchanged for an honest review.

If you are ever wanting to read an easy and quick story with a guaranteed happily ever after, choosing something by Simone Sowood is the way to go.

I have read a handful of books written by her now and I am never disappointed; although this book wasn't my favorite, it obviously wasn't terrible either.

I love reading about how the heroine and hero meet. It is always one of my most favorite parts in the story. Simone always makes it amusing and unpredictable, Arousal being no different.

You get a decent idea about how they meet in the blurb but for a recap, Darcy (terrible name, by the way - it always annoys me when I don't like the names in the stories I read) goes out for dinner with her dad and has to listen to him berate her about being single. Darcy ends up making up a lie and says she does have a boyfriend and then proceeds to introduce a stranger who just walked into the restaurant solo as her boyfriend. This could go very well or it could turn into the most embarrassing affair of the year, if not lifetime.

He goes along with the lie and it turns out to be the greatest twist of fate.

During the first chunk of the book, it is made known that he has a bunch of secrets and nobody knows who he really is. Interesting? It should have been, right? Instead these remarks got monotonous. However, it did make me hopeful for an awesome twist, like that he is in witness protection or he is an ex gang member. Basically anything that would have been more intriguing than what the actual secret was. Obviously I won't insert any spoilers. But it was a tad underwhelming.

The love story and the chemistry was gratifying, as always. Writing believable/convincing chemistry between characters isn't something Simone struggles with.

Also, this cover is the best and Liam is by far the most attractive guy that has graced a novel written by Simone. Go on, look at it again.

P.S. You'll never look at chocolate the same way after reading this. Which is not a bad thing.

March 8, 2018

First things first : You will have a totally different look on chocolate once you are through with this book. I was reading it while commuting and I really wished I had some good chocolate with me, so you might want to get some of your favorite sweet goddess before you start reading – you are going to need it.

Simone Sowood is a typewriter …. Yeah well really that is the only explanation that I have for the speed in which she throws out her novels. Today her newest one “Arousal” went live. Form the featured subject it is again totally different than the last book she released, which is something I admire as many authors stick to some sort of routine and their books become sort of boring as the newest one feels like you already read it before.

Even though you get thrown right into a “situation” without much explanation up front, you never once feel like you do not understand what is going on.

Ms. Sowood’s male characters are always on the dominant side, well developed and extremely interesting in their backgrounds, no matter if they are wealthy or not. I liked Liam – the lead in Arousal a lot, even though he made some (from the beginning on at least to me) obvious bad / strange decisions.

The female leads – in this case Darcy – are never weak or in need of rescue when it comes to her story’s . They are independent or at least strong woman coming across the male leads at situations that let the males assume they need rescue.

So far I think “Carny” and “Arousal” are her best books – with Carny being slightly the first because of one issue I had with the book that I like to mention. I think Ms. Sowood took such great care to construct an interesting backstory with lots of thoughts into the development. But then she rushed to the end, which really hurt me because I loved the story. I could discuss in detail what I am thinking of but that would spoiler parts of the story and most probably nobody feels the way I do, so I am only giving a hint. I think everything after the TV show felt rushed or strange, with the behavior of Darcy’s father in the end being the cherry on top…..

I know this sounds bad, but it actually isn’t which is why this book keeps his 5 stars, it is just that depending on the author I have expectations and Carny lifted those to a level where I expect the story to be perfect (Sorry Ms. Sowood you placed the bar really high and you need to live with that now) …

I scrolled through some reviews now after I wrote what I felt I need to say and before I post this review I would like to add, that I think I know what other reviewers mean by “not what they expected” – I guess it is their way of describing what I mean by the rushed ending, because it also took me a while to figure out what it was that bothered me.
I whished she did some reworking whatever happens after that TV Show…

omg what a mess.

I call BS if you say you liked this book. It was okay up until 15% but by then I had enough, although I did read up until like 75% because mama didnt raise no quitter but then I literally couldn't do it anymore.

The heroine's personality was absolute torture. just sooo overly dramatic and ridiculous not to mention no heat between characters, arousal? they had nerve naming it that because I was so unaroused I had to take a shower to moisten things up again.

Ugh. It just really wasn't for me in all aspects. smh.

***ARC Provided by the Author***

I am not sure what I thought this was going to be about, but it definitely went a different way than I expected...unfortunately, I didn't totally believe the storyline and I thought it was a little contrived in places.

And, it is difficult to say why without giving away the plot of the story, which is not something I want to do here.

So, what I am going to say is that Ms. Sowood has become an author I look forward to reading. I am not actually sure how I ended up on her ARC team (I think there was a Tweet?) but I can say I have never considered leaving.

Even though this wasn't the perfect read for me, I still enjoyed it overall. I do recommend it, and if she is a new author to you, there is no reason you can't start with this book.

I am guessing most will like this more than I did (which happens to me all the time) and, like I mentioned, I am looking forward to the next one.

You have to suspend belief for this story as the chances of it actually happening is highly unlikely but would be very nice! A quick read with like-able main characters.

Amazing!! I loved every minute of this story. Liam, has some major secrets and he doesn't let just anyone into his circle. Darcy, is head strong, smart and very independent if only she could get her dad to see her that way. She is at her wits end when in walks Liam and she introduces this complete stranger to her dad. Everything gets crazy from there and secrets get exposed. This is a story that will have you on the edge if your seat to see what can happen next. Great job Simone!!

I bought this book from an Amazon ad which I NEVER do - the premise sounded so interesting, I couldn't resist! I loved everything about this book, especially the pickup at the start. The characters were interesting and the sex scenes hot. The only downside for me was the ending - the hero went from a hermit-like existence keeping his identity a secret from everyone to going on TV and suggesting they do it over and over. I know we suspend reality when reading romance but that was a teensy bit silly. Loved everything else!

The other books by Simone Sowood were hot, quick and enjoyable reads and I was hoping that this book was the same. It was! I really liked this book a lot. This book has great characters, plot and writing. I love it when the characters start a fake relationship that will become a real relationship.

Liam never expected someone to call him her boyfriend when he went to pick some food. He decides to play along, because he is attracted to her and he wants to get to know her. Liam even forgets about work for a few hours and that hasn’t happened for years.

Darcy never expected Liam to play along with her, but she is so happy that he did. She likes to way he looks and is definitely attracted Liam. Darcy is even more happy when Liam contacts her the next day, because she didn’t expect to see him again. Liam and Darcy spend some time together and grow closer to each other.

I loved Darcy and Liam. Darcy is smart, hardworking, friendly and caring. She loves her job and wants to take over the family company. She knows what the business is about and knows what to do. Liam is a rich businessman. He lives for his work and he works many hours each day. He always thinks about work and doesn’t do relationships. He’s very mysterious and I wanted to know all his secrets.

I really liked this story. Who was he???
This is one of the most, kept me guessing, stories. It starts with a fake boyfriend, verbally abusive father/boss, and secretive lover that has many names and when she finds out who he is........OMG
I really loved all of the story and angst, filthy sex and when he talks to in French she just melts.
This is a keeper and a must read for a really great love story and HEA.

Arousal by Simone Sowood is a great read. Fast paced and full of heart. The characters are well developed as well as the relationship development. The chemistry between Liam and Darcy is spot on... Darcy is standoffish at first, scared of being hurt, but the draw to Liam is too much to ignore.

If you're looking for a sexy, quick read grab this one up! Four Stars and Four Wet Panties.

A chance meeting. Darcy couldn't stand it anymore. Her dad was getting on her nerves about not having a boyfriend. To stop the torment she grabs the first guy available. Wow!! Liam didn't intend to stay for dinner, but how can your refuse an invitation like that. Their chemistry is instant. Their personal baggage, lack of full disclosure, and misunderstandings almost tear them apart. This was a steady read. Very hot billionaire and the perfect matched woman. If this is the kind of books that you like to read, then you will enjoy this book. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

"His eyes capture mine, and our gazes lock, causing my body to hum and buzz from head to toe. I don't know what it is about this man that makes me want to abandon everything I've believed and lived for the past four years."

A chance meeting turns in to a whirlwind, quick, sexy, engaging read. Loved this couple and the mystery surrounding our male character. A highly enjoyable, fun, hot read! I thank the Author for allowing me to voluntarily review!

Simone at her finest, you'll be hooked from chapter one

Darcy works in the business her dad founded, and she has spent her working life being told how bad she's doing, everything is negative despite the fact that she basically runs the whole company. But when her dad starts talking about her love life she snaps and makes up a boyfriend, the next guy who walks in the door of the restaurant will be him. When Liam decided to get take out, the last thing he expected was the best kiss of his life, followed by witnessing the worst treatment of a daughter/employee he's ever seen. Despite the rocky start, Liam is hooked, and he wants Darcy for real, but he has a massive secret he's only ever told one other person. Darcy wants Liam, but she's broken, she can't have him, but Liam is determined to fix her.

This was a great story, the first chapter has me hooked, and I couldn't stop reading it. The characters were well written and you felt their hurt and pain. Liam was a great Hero, strong determined to save the day of the scared damsel Darcy, who thought she was to broken to be loved. I think this is Simone's finest work. So if you've enjoyed anything else Simone's written, you will be wrapped with this story.

I received a free copy of this book and chose to VOLUNTARILY review it. My review is completely honest, and a non-incentivized review

I've been with this author for a year as part of her original ARC team, so I'm loyal to her.

My review has nothing to do with her writing or the storyline (necessarily). It's my personal preference in this review, so it might be best to ignore my opinion.

Ugh. I'm just so over the accidental-boyfriend/billionaire-with-a-secret trope. I really liked the characters, and the way they met was cute; however, it was all so only-in-your-dreams-would-this-happen, that it made it hard for me to buy into the story.

Maybe if I hadn't read so many other books similar to this one, it may have been a bit better. Don't get me wrong because I absolutely enjoyed reading it, just not as much as I wanted.

That too-perfect HEA was the icing on the over-the-top cake. But again, that's me. My problem. My burden.

If you love fairy-tale romances with perfect endings, this one is one to add to the TBR list.

Good book, with a different see sort of plot. Yes, it's a fake-type plot, but none like you've read before. There is no contract to get out of a mass of media issues, or to deal with a mother trying to marry off a child. This was one that was a spur of the moment.."hey dad meet my boyfriend" and she didn't even know his name. That part was comical to say the least. Poor Liam was brought into dinner with two people here didn't even know while they were arguing the whole time.

Darcy was a very successful business woman who could never be enough for her father, then she meets Liam sporadically and they form a rather unique friendship. Liam himself is a billionaire who is very secretive about who he truly is, for safety reasons. No one knows who he truly is.

This is a great book with some drama built in, which is great, but I would've liked to see them more and learned more about them throughout this book. If there is anything I would say about these two characters that would be it. It was a great quick read, with some obstacles too overcome. I would definitely recommend this book if you like a good love story. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC, and would give it 3.5/4 stars. I hope you like it too.

This book defiantly deserves more than five stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.. loved, loved it . The chemistry was unreal . Working for her father she was never good enough and one day to shut her dad up she told him she had a boyfriend, who was techinically the next guy that walked into the Resturaunt . Liam was surprised to say the much but things changed real quick for him and Darcy. Need to read to see what happens you will love it I promise

I laughed at the name of this book. What a perfect name. Once you get to meet the main male character of the book you will understand the title. This was truly an awesome read.

I almost fell out to the chair laughing at the first meet with Darcy and Liam. What could of been going through Liam’s mind for a strange woman to walk up to him and introduce herself to her father and her boyfriend. The feeling between them was electric. There is so many things that could of gone wrong but what Darcy was not expecting was this strange man kiss her.

I truly hated Darcy’s father. Timothy Knight treated his daughter Darcy like she was the dirt on his shoe. You had to wonder why Darcy let this happen. she was not only beautiful but she was truly smart. She was what was keeping her father’s business a float, though her father would never admit it.

I loved the pain and anger that Liam had for Darcy. He truly hated how she was being treated, which was strange since he really did not know her. Liam has so many dark secrets that you have to wonder if Darcy will ever discover them all.

Liam was truly a very dominate man. He loved to be in control. Not only business but in his personal life as well. He did have some fears and one of them was what could happen to Darcy. Darcy was not with out flaw herself, she had her own fears as well.

I have to say there is some very steamy parts in this book but of course if yo have read any of Simone Sowood’s books before you already expected that. Truly a book worth reading.

This advanced reading copy was received in exchange of an honest review.

Simone doesn't disappoint in this quick whirlwind romance... Tired of hearing her nagging father, Darcy decides that she will pretend that the next man that walks through the doors of the restaurant will be her pretend boyfriend. Lucky for her, the next patron actually went along with her hair-brained scheme.
On the surface, Liam is just a regular consultant but who he really is is what makes this story so very intriguing.
Both characters are workaholics that only think about short term lifestyles.
Personally, I'm not a HUGE fan of Insta-love, but the layout of this story made it successful. Though the feelings were quick, the progression seemed natural for these characters.

I got this story today and finished it today! So good I couldn't put it down. Darcy is waiting with her father at Fat KoK a restaurant known for great food and being rude to its customers. Because they were late they now have to wait for the table because theirs was given away no matter who her father is but while waiting Darcy's dad is lecturing her again about getting a boyfriend and a date for her cousins wedding. When she has had enough she lies and tells him she has one and grabs the next guy who walks in the restaurant.
Liam doesn't know what hit him when this beautiful woman grabs him and introduces him as her boyfriend, all he knows is he has never felt this attraction before. He decides he would join them for lunch and maybe get a one night stand out of it but Darcy's father treats her terrible so when he takes a call he just jumps in a cab and leaves. When he calls Darcy and apologizes the next day he gets her to agree to go with him to a function because he is going to go with her to her cousins wedding.
Darcy and Liam are both hiding secrets but she is more forthcoming with hers than Liam is but he has really good reason for them. As you navigate this story with Liam and Darcy you can't help but get caught up in their story, this is definitely one of her best.
I requested this book for free and I have chosen to review it.

i know I'm always going to get a good story from Simone, and although what brings the H/h together in Arousal was a bit hokey, it was still an enjoyable one!

Darcy's at dinner with her dad, who keeps grilling her about her lack of a boyfriend. Suddenly, a hot young guy walks into Fat Kok (best restaurant name ever!!) and Darcy claims he's her new beau. Liam goes along, not knowing who the heck this bickering father and daughter are. There is an intense attraction between them, and Liam seeks her out afterwards and the two workaholics begin a steamy love affair. But when the secret that Liam has kept hidden all of his life rips them apart, how far will he go to win back the woman that he loves?

This is definitely not your stereotypical billionaire romance -- and I will never look at chocolate the same again after that scene in the kitchen! Wowza! i received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Darcy suffers from her father, who is also her boss. She is the right hand of her father in the management of their family business, which could be even more successful if her father appreciated her knowledge and her ability. He blames her for his own mistakes and omissions, leaving hardly a good hair on her.
When they go out to dinner and he lectures her once again and demands of her to finally find herself a boyfriend, Darcy becomes angrier than ever before and claims a stranger to be her secret boyfriend.

Liam, at first astonished, plays along as he senses a connection to Darcy, which he has never felt before to a stranger.
Liam conceals many secrets. Nobody knows who he really is, no one knows how rich he is ...

Because of their past, both protagonists have problems opening themselves up to other people and thus making themselves vulnerable.

Simone Sowood describes the characters in her proven manner and brings them quite credible to life. This book, like all the other books I've read so far, is a page turner and difficult to get out of hand.

Gotta love how these two meet at Fat Kok! The name of the restaurant alone had me in stitches, but the way Darcy's eyes plead with Liam was a hoot - especially when he played along. He made quite the attentive boyfriend of three weeks...errrrr, months. Daddy was a pain. I liked how he (Liam) finally opened up and allowed her all the way inside his heart. I didn't like her little fit over his 'lie', as he had tried to tell her who he was and it wasn't like her 'secrets' would've made him a rich man (he all ready had money in spades, sweetie). I was so glad he took her home, rather than to the 5th floor. I also LOVED that he had his thoughts on 'the one' and how he stuck to them, even though it almost cost him. Great story, hilarious moments throughout, fantastic ending. Wonder if they have room for an unexpected, uninvited guest? Yum and two thumbs up all the way.

This is the kind of story that I love. I loved the way the Liam and Darcy met. I loved the way they just connected. I loved that there's secrets throughout the whole story and they are being revealed one secret after another. This is what makes the story fascinating and interesting.

I did find Liam's love for Darcy a bit to fast but I just accepted it for what it was.
This is a very good book and the hot chemistry between Darcy and Liam is worth reading.
