Humanity stands at the brink of extinction. In the days after the apocalypse, a handful of survivors travel to a distant shore in search of a strange radio transmission with the hopes of discovering others who survived the end of the world. The would-be rescuers quickly discover that something sinister still lurks in the shadows, threatening the survival of all. Final Dawn is a thrilling post-apocalyptic series that follows the journey of those who survived the end of days. Full of fast-paced, gripping action, this post-apocalyptic book will keep you glued to the edge of your seat as you read about ordinary men and women pushed beyond their breaking point as they struggle to survive in a hostile and brutal world. Final Archangel Rising is the first book in a standalone post-apocalyptic trilogy set in the Final Dawn universe where humanity is struggling to rebuild and survive after nearly being wiped out. Note that reading the original Final Dawn series (www.amzn.com/B01MRAE8VO) is not necessary as this is a standalone series.
It’s a fantastic book and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. It’s the same characters as Final Dawn and we’re getting to know the submarine crew better. There is no let-up in this book so if you fancy a quiet read then this book isn’t for you.
Gripping and hair raising! This is a very original post apocalyptic set, with a super, mega submarine in search of survivors. Although I haven't read the first Final Dawn Trilogy, the writer keeps us up to date with the past so you don't feel lost. I don't like zombie books or movies, but was pleasantly surprised with the mutants, affected humans and animals with AI nanobots with a hive mind who are in the process to evolve. As much as it's horrifying for me, the story has got a grip on me and compels me to on reading, to know more about this evolved creatures and the sub crew. Mike sure knows how to hook us up!
Filled with more of the same exciting scenes that were in the Final Dawn series plus with drawing out some new characters. I didn’t think I was going to like it as much but once you get past the draggy part at the beginning it gets much better. Now I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Jesus is one of my favorite authors for character r development as well as scene creation. He has not failed me this time. For some reason I have read this book first and not the original Final Dawn which I will be rectifying as soon as I have finished this series. Backward, I know but it should work.
I have the box set that includes this story, which continues the trials of the survivors of the AI attacks. This one focuses on the Russian sub that is used to, hopefully, find other survivors on Russian soil…but things are not straightforward.
"Things are not going according to plan." From the very first moment, the reader is plunged into action as survivors try desperately to escape monsterously mutated humans. But this is not the usual zombie story. Following on from an earlier series, Final Dawn: Archangel Rising takes place some time after the initial nuclear explosions that destroyed and altered so many of the world's population. The orchestrating AI has been destroyed and the mutations in America are dead or dying. The surviving Russian submarine which was so helpful in restoring relative safety there has now been commissioned to search for survivors in Russia itself. A broadcasted transmission had been received from the city of Magadan, so this is the first stopping point of the rescue team. It does not go as smoothly as hoped...
Whilst knowledge of the previous series is useful, it I not necessary as the author divides a brief account of the major events at the beginning of this book. Fast paced with ongoing action in several different areas, plus a mystery which I'll need to be unravelled, Final Dawn: Archangel Rising is a sound first part of what promises to be an exciting series.
Not the usual take on the apocalypse. Swarms and monsters and AI's, oh, my! Mike has done a masterful job spinning this tale of survival, despite the odds. I could not put down my ARC copy. I can't wait to find out what happens! And, even though I have not read all of the Final Dawn episodes that come before the Arkangelsk series, Mike gives more than enough details so that I did not feel lost in the story at all.
