The Bare Bones MC #3

Bad To The Bones

Rate this book
Knoxie Hammett has been The Bare Bones' tattoo artist for years. He's just drifted through life, living it large and performing in their Triple Exposure films, recovering from a divorce he never wanted. Suddenly Knoxie has a reason to live and to want to prospect for The Bare Bones outlaw motorcycle club.
He'll need their help to rescue the lovely Bellamy Jager from the jaws of the cutthroat, warped cult leader who has been holding her hostage all her adult life. To the neglected, abused Bellamy, living in the desert canyons off stolen food and time, the sanctity of the ashram looked like a safe zone. But her haven turned to hell and she was drugged and abused, ignorant of any other way of life.
Knoxie will need every one of his Bare Bones brothers and every ounce of bravery he can muster. To save Bellamy and her white slave sister from the twisted swami, he’ll need to pull off the most daring job of his life to prove to the club and the world that he’s…BAD TO THE BONES
Don’t ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.
Publisher’s Note: This is Book #3 in the Bare Bones MC series. This book is a stand-alone and can be read out of order. This is not your mother’s contemporary romance. Daring readers will encounter sexual assault, dubious consent, general violence among men, and a HEA. It is not for the faint of heart. It’s a full length novel of 73,000 words with no cliffhanger. Recommended 18+ due to mature content.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review and I must say I was pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed this story!!! Layla has a very unique way of telling the story of the P.O.V of the characters in this book! This is unlike any other M.C book that i have read and i can not wait until i get to read the rest! Definetly a must read.
Bellamy was a lost soul and she din't know where else to turn until an opportunity comes up and shows her a life that she never expected to have and she doesn't think that it is wrong until her world is turned upside down again by those she trusted! Knoxie is the ultimate Biker that loves his children but is scarred by the betrayal of his now ex- wife. Knoxie tries everything he can to forge through the heartache and one day on a run for the M.C club he comes across Bellamy and everything changes!
Hop on and hold on tight for a ride on a lifetime with twists and turns and get to know all of the Bones!!

This is a solicited review, however, I was not paid to review this title. I would also like to note that I have not read any other book in this series. I was told that this book in the series is stand alone and can be read out of order. I usually don't do that, but this time I decided to do just that.

In the beginning of this book I felt kind of lost. It took me while to understand who was who and what exactly what was going on. Once I pushed passed that, I actually started to get into the book. Bella is damaged in many ways which made her vulnerable to a cult. When she is left in the desert, abandoned by the cult, she is rescued by Knoxie. Knoxie is an exSEAL who takes Bella into his protection. He knows there is more to their relationship, but until Bella can be broken of her brainwashing, nothing major can happen.

The story was interesting and full of action. It took me a while to get into it but once I did, I was glad. Overall it was a good book and I liked it. I would probably have liked it more if I read the previous two books first, so that is what I suggest. I would definitely give this book a chance. Just remember, what I think may not be what you think.

"Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.” love this quote.

I was given this ARC copy to read and give an honest review.

Since I haven’t read the first to books of this series I hoped that I hadn’t miss something. In my opinion this book can be read as a stand alone it quickly immerses you into the story of Bellamy and Knoxie.
At first I thought that Layla Wolfe has put a paranormal twist to an MC book but it’s just Bellamy’s unique mind rambling view on her current situation.
There is so much to capture the reader in Bad to the Bones, the people of MC club, the people of Bihari, the cartel, not to mention the focus of the story the relationship between Knoxie and Bellamy.
Layla Wolfe gives the reader lots of action, steamy sex scenes, unfortunate abuse and torture, and some sweet scenes. This book really has it all.
Bad to the Bones made me smile, laugh, I became frustrated with Knoxie at moments wanting to hit him up side the head and I felt for Bellamy and her experiences.
Layla Wolfe’s MC world is addicting I’ll be reading the other in the series and looking forward to reading more of these colourful motorcycle characters.

This is the third installment of the bare bones series and is a stand alone.
Knoxie is our alpha male in this book and at the age of 40 finds himself to he in a new life plan that he never expected to be in and is finding it hard to adjust.
Bellamy is our lady and has spent her life in a overly strict religious environment and is basically skeptical of the outside world.
When these two come together sparks fly and promises made but that doesnt mean they are easily kept especially by our Knoxie.
This book is full of action and mc antics and makes for an excellent read. There are areas that readers may find hard to read but unfortunately they are depicted true of the treatment some women are forced into in the more strict cult like religious communes.but they add depth to this story.
The thing I liked most of this book was Bellamy's reaction to Knox at times.to say she wasnt the most skilled at dirty talk was an understatement and made her character so sweat and endearing I though oh bless her lil heart.lol
I give this story 5 stars because of the action and the hero saving the day aspect of it.

This is the first book that I have read in this series and was not sure what to expect. I have to say I had a hard time keeping track of what was going on in the beginning. Bellamy's rambling and thoughts about the compound she was living in were very confusing. I had to take a step back and look at it from a different point of view to understand that this was the representation of her brainwashing and it really was a cult situation. After I did that the story flowed more smoothly for me. I absolutely love the wide variety of characters and their names in this story. The inner struggle of Knox to do the right think by Bellamy by fighting his attraction to her and her attempts to show appreciation for his help keep things very hot and steamy. Undoing the Bellamy's brainwashing added a deeper storyline then just typical MC read. I found the story interesting, enlightening, scary and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more about the Bare Bones.

This review will be short and sweet....THIS STORY ROCKED. I could not put it down at all, this shows who a 40 year old Knoxie really is and his background, poor guy was broken until a cult brainwashed Asanga or Bellamy was left to die by her cult. After taking her in, Knoxie has to become the man met to have her and to deprogram her to let her feel what it is to me a woman intent on saving Knoxie's broken heart and her sister from being hurt. Great third book in the Boners MC series, cant wait for the next one.

First off, I have not read the other books in this series so, I read it from that perspective. Also, I did get this as an ARC.

I enjoyed this book a great deal. The chemistry between the two main characters Knoxie and Bellamy work's really well. For a first-time reader of this universe is explained fairly well and was easy to get into once you got past the first few chapters (which to me at least is fairly common when you come into the series).

This is book 3 The Bare Bones MC Series.
I gave this book 4 stars.
This is a series, but I read it as a standalone.

This is Knox and Bella's story.
It took me awhile to get into the story, but it is because this was the first book that I have read in this series, so i highly suggest that you read the first two books first. I am sure that it would help out a lot. Once I got into the story though I couldn't put it down. It was a very well told story that kept me turning the page and wanting more.

Bella is damaged, and because of this it makes her very vulnerable. She ends up being abandoned by the cult that she is in and ends up being rescued by Knoxie. He takes her into his protection he feels the instant connection, but knows he needs to go slow because she has been majorly brain washed by this cult.

The story was very interesting and I loved all the action. I will def be picking up the first two books in this series and maybe re reading this one. Thank you Layla for a great series. I look forward to reading much more from you.

I really like knoxie and Bellamy (asanga) as a couple. I felt sorry for knoxie and ziggy .I'm glad knoxie finally found happiness with his life and with Bellamy . But Ford and Maddie are still my favorite. I still don't understand how people fall for CULT's and their brainwashing .

Favorite Quotes or Lines:

I loved Knoxie, maybe in a Stockholm Syndrome sort of way, or the childish way a victim loves her savior.
I had gone from someone who didn’t know how to cry to a person who cried at the drop of a hippopotamus.
(The last made me giggle)

Synopsis:

This is book 3 in Layla Wolfe’s M.C. Romance Series Bad to the Bones. It can be read as a stand alone, as advertised but really all three books are needed to fully enjoy it—at least from my point of view. It is however a personal choice, because I just love reading books in order, in hopes of glimpsing former characters.

This book dealt with Knoxie and Bellamy.

Bellamy was a different type of heroine. Due to the culture that Bellamy unwillingly lived in she was colored in her spoken voice, and her actions. At times it made me laugh out loud, at times it made me horribly sad and yes at times it annoyed me. All of that made Bellamy a fully formed character and totally believable.

Knoxie was a bad ass MC man that you were drawn to from the beginning. That said he wasn’t the total Alpha bad ass that I have read in some MC romances. He was, but wasn’t--a happy medium for the most part.

The story centers around these two characters, how they react to each other, how Bellamy reacts to life, and ultimately how two people can conquer any situation no matter how impossible it might seem. Have re-read that it seems a tad too “romantic” for this book which is pretty frank and hard hitting – it is true nonetheless.

The Good:

There is a lot of good in this book. The reader has to find something they like here, from steamy sex, to sweet interaction between the two main characters, to hard hitting and heavy action scenes. Layla Wolfe made sure there was something for everyone in her book.

The Bad:

Contrarily to the good, this book will also, not be for everyone. Layla depicts a crazed, violent world and some of the torture scenes are just out there for you to absorb. Do not get me wrong. They are true to the world created and add to your understanding of the characters involved. That doesn’t mean they aren’t any less frank and forthright. So a reader should be prepared.
The characters at time frustrated me from time to time. Knoxie in particular, but then again men in general do that so that could be true to life also.

I had trouble relating to the heroine at times, she was wonderfully written but not having been in her world, having been exposed and forced to live that way there were times her turn of phrases and the way she reacted seemed unreal for me as a reader. It probably wasn’t--given her history but as a reader it was hard to remember this at times and not pull me more from the story.

The Review:

I am a fan of this series. I’ve read the first and have the 2nd in my TBR pile. This was a great addition and a must read for a Layla Wolfe fan or even just hard hitting romance lovers in general.

This is a erotica, adult fiction, romance with abuse. This is the third book in The Bare Bones series but could be read as a stand alone. Personally I read the other books and recommend readers to read the whole series, they are all amazing. This book is not for the weak hearted, I recommend this for adults only. The story starts out unusual and I thought what the heck, only after reading futhur did it make sense, then I appreciated the details given in the beginning. This story proves that the broken hearted can be healed by true love.

This is the story about two main characters, Bellamy Jager is the first character we meet. She is young women who got herself involved with the wrong group of people, a cult. And she is totally devoted to the leader, in fact she is gullible to the evil he has brought into her life. Her life before was unstable and he gave her "stability" but at what cost?

Knoxie Hammett a tattoo artist, has been involved with The Bare Bones for several years. He has never been patched in but has always been available if they needed him for anything. During their last run he rescued Bellamy from certain death. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to think he really saved her, that she was involved by accident. Thankfully Knoxie finds out that Bellamy was old friends with members of the Bare Bones and with their help is going to rescue her from the cult's clutches. Can he convince her that she needs a new beginning? In the end who really needs rescuing?

Favorite Passages:
"If I recall correctly, a few of the guards they called daimyo followed us at first, swiping their assault rifles as though we were cockroaches they needed to scatter."
"Never a dull moment with us, that's a guaran-fu**ing-teed. Whoa, hey, there's Wild Man."
"It's a sort of sunny, yellow, bird chirping feeling that reminds me of childhood, before everything got fu**ed."
"Not trusting means you can never live fully, never experience life in all its glorious multicolored hues."
"it was all so beautiful, although I didn't see why the beautiful man needed a beautiful tattoo."
"The table looked extremely well-used, even loved."
"They liked to ride electric scooters, little pasta rockets."
"That lunch kept repeating itself like a sinful past life."
"You should be acting like it instead of whipping your Bilbo Baggins around on film for the whole world to see."
"I know you're mortified that I'm waving my Donkey Kong around in public."
"In what way is that better than flaunting your Kentucky telescope in front of every single pervert who wants to cuddle his kielbasa?"
"I felt like my brain was bleeding, my mind closing down on itself, like a box folding flat."
"Simply put, she brought out the best in him, made him feel alive again."
"I literally can't verbally express how much I love you. Its too painful, it wrenched my heart." <3
"I have an identify now, I'm firmly rooted in this reality." <3

Overall Rating: 3.5-4 Rockin’ ★★★☆

Bad to the Bones, a story written by Layla Wolfe, is a destination tale of two polar opposites. It is A Hells Angels meets Waco love story. Knoxie and Bellamy are both damaged goods. This story comes from opposing sides. Both of them abused by ones they put their trust in.

Knoxie has been around the block once or twice. He's jaded from his wife leaving him and taking his children. Although he has a past as a SEAL, he has demons in his closet from his younger years. These are the reasons he currently works for Triple Exposure, a pornography video company. In his spare time he hangs with the Bare Bones Motorcycle Club.

Bellamy, has been known as the Master's chosen one, Asanga. She is brainwashed and repeatedly raped by anyone the master deems in an attempt by the master to cleanse and enlighten her. She is discarded like trash and left to die by his order for publicly challenging his decision for her sister’s pregnancy.

When Knoxie finds Bellamy dumped on the mesa left for dead, something in him changed. He wants to protect her and chase all her demons away. Will these two broken souls heal one another?

Hero-Knoxie: 4 stars
Heroine-Bellamy: 3.75 stars
Steam: 3 stars
Plot: 3 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes! This book had a grab you storyline. The book would appeal to readers that enjoy a great MC read and are eclectic admirers of gritty romantic novels.

Would I recommend this author: Yes! The author’s characters are well developed and the storyline will keep you wanting more.

The Bare Bones MC family is one that I have come to love. We get to see plenty of our favorite characters from previous books. This installment adds two new characters to the club. Knoxie is a 40 year old divorced ink artist/former soldier that seems to be wondering aimlessly through life until he encounters Bellamy. Her predicament gives him direction and purpose. The story opens with Bellamy, who has been living in a cult. She thought she had found her purpose, until she is exiled from the commune. Struggling to find her way in the world again, her sanctuary becomes the safety of Knoxie's arms. And in the middle of it all are power hungry, greedy, drug running gurus who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Lots of action, and some steamy scenes, too. Colorful euphemisms keep the tone light despite the dark subject matter.

The plot is there, but i feel the love interest was rather flat...not only that it took a while for it to get going only to end up for Bella to become vulgar in her speak which i did not think that was her some how. Also at the beginning of the novel it was hard to get into and understand what was going on! All the different names done my head in trying to pronounce them... Also this guy "Flip" is forty? why does the cover show a younger guy? Think a hot sexy silver fox in leather would of been a better cover for the novel. Any way i liked this novel some what, just the above bothered me.

There are many (maybe too many) ins and outs, and jumping around with the characters. I found it difficult to keep tract with characters names, perfered names and wannabe names (personality tendancies). On hind sight the story is worth-while and it's better to follow the series even-though the stories are standalones as well.

Original Blog Post: Blitz eARC Review +#Giveaway: Bad to The Bones (Book #3, The Bare Bones MC Series) by Layla Wolfe

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

I am so thankful that Layla Wolfe wrote Bad to the Bones! I'm addicted to The Bare Bones Series and I'd jump at any opportunity to get my fix.

I knew it would be too predictable for the Illuminati brothers to have another sibling hiding out in the desert (but I haven't lost hope!). But it turns out Madison had an old friend that did. Bellamy used to hang out with her when they were teens and was lost in a different way when Madison just disappeared.

Also a product of an abusive household, Bellamy is one of those kids who camped out on the bluff, trading tricks for food and security, barely staying out of trouble. Without Madison's guidance, she is totally, completely lost. That's when she's found by recruiters for a cult that even the bikers consider warped, and these are people who are open to just about anything.

When people are reported wandering around in the desert after shots are fired, The Bare Bones go out to investigate. They've asked Knoxie to join them, their resident tattoo artist and porn star, who also does odd jobs for the MC on the side even if he isn't a prospect. Among the jumble of drugged ragtags, he finds Bellamy, and all his protective instincts go haywire.

10547340_1468202170130157_8980596176585552436_o.jpg
Knoxie is really a sensitive, artistic soul who prefers the straight and narrow way. When his wife and kids leave him because sticking to his principles have them almost destitute, he's forced into the odd jobs and x-rated films so he can pay his alimony. Not exactly how he envisioned living but he feels obligated to provide for them by any means possible. He already has too much to handle, he doesn't know why he's feeling the need to rescue yet another lost spirit.

The lengths Knoxie goes to in helping Bellamy debrief and well, detox, are definitely above and beyond. They both suffer for it, while being inexplicably attracted to each other, but isn't finding your other half worth any and all pain?

This swami person is himself a ridiculous character who simply has more than a good share of charisma. But the abuse of such a gift has led to nefarious and illegal activities that have the government breathing down on P&E, which the Bare Bones don't like at all. How they finally clear themselves and deal with this toxic cult should be stuff of MC Legend.

I did notice that Layla Wolfe let someone from the past surface for a while. Does this mean Bad to the Bones isn't the end to The Bare Bones Series? Oh, I hope so!!!

Well that was very different! The first book in the Bare Bones MC series shocked me because it was so crude and dirty, then the second book had much more of a family oriented storyline and I really liked it. Now with this one, I'm finding that although this is a series written by the same author, they can be read as standalones without losing too much enjoyment and they are three extremely unique books with very different tales to tell.
Knoxie, the Bare Bones MC's tattoo artist and possible new member, has been making porn and dealing with a bad marriage when he becomes entrusted to protect Bellamy, a young woman who was left to die by a crazy (we are talking "Charles Manson and drinking the drugged poisoned kool-aid" type of nutballs crazy) cult. She has been brainwashed and drugged and raped for years and it is only when the Bare Bones MC find out the depth of depravity of this group, that they spring into action to try to free the helpless women who are trapped there and stop them from their heinous activities...drugs, the abuse of Bellamy's pregnant sister and a whole lot of other evil activities are just a few of the items on their agenda.
There was a few places that confused the hell out of me and I found myself re-reading the previous page to understand what was going on..but for the most part it was an interesting story of two people dealing with their own emotional issues and finding a way to heal together (while also working to protect and save other innocent victims). At times it was harsh to read and some twisted and violent acts occur, but if you like dark and non-conventional biker books, you will like this one.

This story is about Knox and Bella.

This is book in this series. I haven’t read the other two books- and I was not familiar with the other characters. I’m a big believer in reading the entire series- although you can read this one by itself. It did take me a few chapters to get into the story- and I did have to back track to pick up details I felt like I was missing. Once I felt like I knew who was who- and how they related to the story- I was hooked. I have since gone back and read the first two. There is a lot going on- and you can’t wait to turn the page to see what happens next.

The story- Bella is girl from the wrong side of the tracks- that joins a cult- she thinks she has found herself a family with the cult leader. She ends up abandoned- and left to fend for herself in the dessert.

Knoxie is a MC club friend- not a member but he does their tattoos, he does some shady work for them, he works for their porn movie company. His wife left him and took his children. He has his own set of issues- when he meets Bella.

Bella is rescued by Knoxie- and she has to work through her abandonment issues- and be de-programed from her time with a cult- Knoxie feels a strong sense of duty and desire to protect her.

I’d give the book 3 stars- it’s an easy to read story- good story line. The characters are interesting and you are cheering for them when they win- upset when things don’t go their way.

Can’t wait for book 4 to come out

This is a HOT, dangerous, unpredictable and great read!

Bad To The Bones, is the third book in The Bare Bones MC series by Layla Wolfe. Be warned that this is NOT your typical romance story; it’s a rough, dangerous and unpredictable ride between two broken people. That’s not to say that there isn’t a ton of romantic attraction between Bellamy and Knoxie, because there is. The attraction is so strong that it’s almost a living electric current between them.
Bellamy is struggling to find her way in the normal world once more, and is having trouble telling the difference between reality and what she was brain washed into believing is reality. With the help of her childhood friends Madison, Bobby and of course Knoxie Bellamy starts to find her way back to being her old self again.
Knoxie is under attack by his own demands. He’s working on getting over the betrayal of his now ex-wife and a member of the MC, and not being able to see his children as much as he’d like. As well as feeling like he is a horrible father for not being able to provide well enough for them. It takes a lost, confused, and scared Bellamy to help Knoxie put his life back together again, and finding his heart.

I loved this book to the point I am now picking up the first two books in The Bare Bones MC series.
