Thirty seven year old Nadine Connors has a good job in finance and money to do what she wants. She has everything, but someone to love. Nadine meets twenty seven year old Kim Bailey at a book club. Their interaction is brief, but Kim is immediately taken with the beautiful woman. They meet again at the grocery store where Kim is purchasing food for the local pantry. Nadine looks at the woman and begins to feel guilty. Nadine had always spent her money on herself instead of helping others. She decides to bring a check to the pantry where she finds out that Kim is in charge of donations. Nadine’s other problem with Kim is that she feels the woman has no ambitions and even though she can see Kim’s interest, she ignores that fact. The women do get together and fall in love and you would think that is where the book would end, but it doesn’t. Life sometimes has a way of throwing you for a loop, but it is how you come out the other side that shows your character. Nadine may have started out as a materialistic woman, but Kim Bailey’s influence changed her in so many ways.
Lydia has been a New Jersey resident her entire life. She now lives with her wife at the Jersey Shore and writing full time after years in the business industry. Years of writing stories for as long as she could remember, she decided to put her first book out in June of 2014.
As I have stared before I dont know what it is but Lydia Rose is an author i just almost always have to read. Her works are usually fun cute reads that make you smile, flaws and all. This one though just didnt sit right with me... The story with Kim was tok long. I actually lived that character and the dynamic between her and her wife. In all actuality I think her story was longer than that of Sandy. Now Sandy seemed like a great character and if more of the story had been about her, I think overall, the premise behind the title would have made sense. This doesb't make much sense I know; I'm trying not to give too much away. Anyways, the whole fall in love moved way too quick and getting to know the character was lacking a bit more than in her other books. If the story was longer and more detailed I would have liked it way more. Overall, not my favorite and would probably give it 2.5stars if I was able to (i like to round up)
What an interesting read. I was engaged from the beginning. Based upon the title, I knew something sad was over the horizon as I turned each page. Being a fan of the author, I was expecting a thought provoking read that entertained as well as made the reader think. I was not disappointed. Nadine Conners, did not know she wanted and needed to be a better person. Kim Bailey knew she had not only the desire but the means to impact the lives of others. Two women on collision course to change each other and the people around them. Ultimately, a feel good read.
This was an amazing book that takes you on an emotional journey of love, loss and finding love again. I love the interaction between the characters. I love the writing and how as your reading you can feel the emotions through the journey. I got teary eyed as I was reading. I felt every emotion as I read the story, as if I was there with the characters. This was an amazingly written story. I can never put Lydia's books down, once I start reading them. Can't wait for the next one.
I enjoyed this story so much, the characters are charming and kind. I had mixed feelings, Kim stole my heart, Nadine is so kind and naive and Sandy deserved the best.... It's a story of love and perseverance, of kindness and generosity. I've read all Rose books and never got disappointed, whenever you want a good, relaxing, romantic and soft reading.... Mrs Rose is definitely the right choice... Thanks for another great story!!!
When I see a book written by Lydia Rose, I know that it is gone to be a good read. Lydia Rose is a great author. I just love the way she blends her characters (Nadine and Kim) in Message from Heaven. She makes it more like a story and not all about sex. If you get a chance, read all of her books. You won't be disappointed.
Good story but the characters felt flat. Still a strong 3.5 rating.
There are two lesbian romances in Message from Heaven. Kim and Nadine find each other after a rocky beginning. Their relationship takes flight as they settle into forever after. Their love is unshakable but life isn't always fair. Kim, younger than Nadine by ten years, meets an untimely demise.
The story fast forwards three years. Nadine lives alone and still feels connected to Kim. A new woman hires into her financial investment firm as the receptionist. Sandy is thirty something, divorced and a single mother. She and Nadine feel a mutual attraction.
I always look forward to reading books by Lydia Rose. I enjoyed the plotline and feelings behind Message from Heaven. Nadine's life was dramatically changed by her relationship with Kim. Her personal growth is at the heart of this story.
My only disappointment with this novel was that these fine characters felt so flat. Characters make or break a book for me. Almost everyone in this story is a good person. Sandra's deceased father and ex-husband as well as Kim's parents and sister are the only exceptions. Most of the characters exist in name only and in how they help to move the plot along. As much as I liked this novel, I would have enjoyed more meat on the bare bones of these characters.
