Having pretty much accepted her fashion disaster of a uniform, her job that doesn’t pay and the fact she’s dead, Bridget Sway is doing okay. That is, until her handsome parole officer’s homicidal ex-ward, Crazy Katie, escapes from a mental institution.
When bodies start falling at Bridget's feet Crazy Katie is the natural suspect. Bridget and Sabrina decide all they need to do is find Crazy Katie, hand her over to the GBs and everything can go back to what passes for normal in the afterlife. Simple.
But with housemates like barnacles, a GB officer taking an exceptional interest in her and an irritating Barbie-esque adjustment companion, who might be her handsome parole officer’s girlfriend, dogging her every step Bridget’s afterlife just isn’t that easy.
On the up side, at least there aren’t any dead bodies stuffed in her locker …
I was fourteen when I attempted to write my first novel. Half finished, riddled with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and printed in pink ink, I gave it to my English teacher and asked her for feedback. A month later she handed it back to me and told me it was "good" without having read it.
How did I know she hadn't read it? The story was about an assassin for hire who disposed of her "kills" in her bathtub by dissolving their remains in sulphuric acid. I'm pretty sure if she had read it, one heck of a letter would have been sent home. I look back at this now and can see that the pink ink and poor spelling were the least of my problems.
With the lack of constructive criticism from my English teacher, I placed my novel writing on hold. I dallied mainly with typical teenage, angst-ridden poetry until several years later, on a romantic whim, I turned a boy I knew into a superhero, literarily (not literally) speaking. Because I'm super awesome, I included some of his friends and chronicled their superhero adventures as a birthday present to him.
My relationship with the superhero version of the boy lasted the completion of a dozen short stories. My relationship with the real life boy didn't. And I was writing pretty dang quick too!
There were a couple more plot twists but since they don't involve radioactive spiders, magical wardrobes or handsome Tolkien-esque elves they're not really worth talking about! So that's pretty much the yellow brick road to how I got here.
Book 3 in the Bridget Sway series and it's just as good as the previous 2!!
How Bridget manages to get into these situations I will never know but they're written with such warmth, humour, sarcasm (gotta love some sarcasm!) and the mystery is wonderful.
It's such a well written and engaging story, we learn more about Bridget, see her friendships grow and the conversations she has with her best friend Sabrina and her housemates are both weird and humorous.
I laughed out loud reading this and got weird looks from Bella the dog as I did because I was disturbing her very important business of looking outside and supervising the garden!
I highly, highly recommend this series to everyone, I love it so much and am definitely going to marathon all 3 again as they're such enjoyable and fun reads!!
The ending has me really excited for the next book in the series so write Jordaina, write like the wind!!!
*Massive thanks to Jordaina Sydney Robinson for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*
Book 3 in this Fun series, which I started immediately after Book 2. Bridget just keeps on finding bodies. It's almost like a set up. Anna has been assigned as her adjustment companion, which means she accompanies Bridget where ever she goes while away from home. Needless to say Bridget does not like this at all.
And to make matters worse, "Katie" has escaped from the mental asylum, which confused me to thinking I got the 2nd & 3rd books out of order...some of the info on Katie & Bridget's relationship (or coming to terms) from the 2nd book, seemed to not transfer to the 3rd book. Oz was very nervous about this new development, & took extra precautions in securing their home. It is also probably why Anna was assigned as Bridget's companion. Bridget's housemates, Petal, Pam, & Lucy have taken on looking up to Bridget, following her lead, & insisting on accompanying her whenever they could.
While a group of them attended a tour of a mental asylum as part of their adjustment to being dead, Bridget runs into Alex, a patient there, who had tried to kill her in the previous book. He has been scheduled for release, & Bridget & Alex managed to work out their issues. He actually becomes rather helpful in Bridget & Serena's current endeavors. And the dead just keep dropping dead with Bridget discovering the bodies. With lots of suspects, & few clues to work with, Bridget finally sees the light, but almost too late to save herself. However, all ends well, except for the 2 new housemates that joined their group after all's said & done. Neither Bridget, Petal, Pam, nor Lucy were happy at all.
Bridget Sway, a fashionista/party planner in life, winds up in the Afterlife as a messenger, stuck in a hideous uniform, living in a group home with roommates who, ick, want to be her friends, and a hot guardian angel/parole officer whose mission is to keep her on the straight and narrow. Katie, a crazy former ward of said parole officer has escaped from a hospital where recalcitrant ghosts are “re-educated” and may be after Bridget because she sees Bridget as competition for the affections of the parole officer. Bodies continue to drop at Bridget’s feet. Bridget is pretty sure those bodies are the work of Crazy Katie, but the police think maybe Crazy Katie is a red herring and Bridget could be guilty herself, because, well, look at her track record.
This series is always such a treat to read. The writing style is conversational and I feel like Bridget could be a friend. The dialogue is witty, the plots interesting, and the day-to-day details of living in the Afterlife and dealing with the bureaucracy seem realistic. In this book, I enjoyed watching Bridget learn things about herself and experience some personal growth. It made her even more sympathetic and “human.” The one minus I see in this book is that I found some of the dialogue where Bridget and her bff Sabrina were trying to line out the suspects tiresome. I just paged past that and enjoyed the rest of the story. The books do end abruptly, so prepare yourself for that. I hope this series stays around for a long time.
Just when the worst problems Bridget has are her three housemates sleeping over in her bed most nights, "Crazy Katie" escapes from the mental asylum. Supposedly responsible for three murders and an attempt on housemate Petal's life, she was a ward of Oz's and obviously is considered dangerous. Bridget is assigned an adjustment companion (Anna) who goes everywhere with Bridget, but surprisingly has scheduled a surprise visit to the mental asylum the day after Katie has escaped. There she meets up with a former associate (who tried to kill her) and in the resulting conversation discovers...you guessed it! Another dead body.
Again Bridget and Sabrina are thrown into the all too familiar roles of detectives as they sift through odd and bizarre situations to discover who is really behind the many murders that follow. Who knew it would be so hard to stay dead?
Author Jordaina Sydney Robinson has a brilliant collection of characters that are once again led by Bridget and Sabrina. They seem to be fearless, and definitely are never clueless. Their antics, lies, and sleuthing keep me on the edge of my seat. Even though I am finally understanding some of the methods different characters have to get results, I still am surprised when all is said and done. The author throws in a few curves-just to keep her readers on their toes-and manages to make each book more exciting than the last. I look forward to reading the next book as soon as I finish this review! I like the more adjusted Bridget, but as Lucy says, I like the mean Bridget too! Great fun to read!
I am loving this series. With so many talented authors and books out there, that it is hard to standout or get noticed but this author certainly has found a way. How? By setting the series in the afterlife and have ghosts murdering ghost. Okay I know that sounds strange but it is so unusual and so much fun that it works. I love the characters, especially Bridget, she is a real character, whether she is trying to be nice or her usual sassy self she is a hoot and a great main character who can't stay out of trouble. The mystery was well worked with plenty of and and with so much going on I had no idea who the killer was. Off to start the next book and to find out how Bridget gets on with her new roommates. Bridget is finally beginning to except her position in the afterlife and realise that she has no say in her life. Especially when it comes to her roommates but when her roommates life is threatened Bridget has no choice but to try and keep them safe. The previous roommate went mad and killed a number of ghosts, as a result she was sent to Mendall Asylum for rehabilitation. Now she has escaped and Bridget can't help but find the trail of bodies she has left behind. Can Bridget stop the killer before she comes for her roommates? It took me a while to get use to the narrator because she sounds so English which is unusual but by the time I finished I actually had come to the conclusion she was the right choice for the story. Mostly, not sure she pulled off the Australian accent.
Jordaina has once again written a ridiculously funny story. There must be a group of demented little fairies in her brain just waiting for the signal to leap into action. I say this with the utmost affection because I enjoy her work immensely.
Bridget is shocked to learn she has an adjustment companion. Her name is Anna or "Evil Barbie" as Bridget likes to call her. Anna is a pain in Bridget's nether regions and she really wants her gone. Bridget has had enough of being called "hon" and the passive aggressive comments.
As always, there is plenty of mystery and dead bodies. The plot is interesting with lots of surprises. The characters are dead but still have plenty of life left in them in the after world. I rated this book as five stars. Each of Jordaina's books can be read as stand alone but you will enjoy them more if you read them in order.
This is the third in a series of novels which can be quite humorous at times. Bridget is dead, sort of, and still working, moving objects in a sort of haunting fashion but without any clue why she is doing any such things. There's actually a major lack of properly informing the dead of just why they are doing what they are doing in this afterlife.
Katie has escaped but there turns out to be a lot of problems that arise with just how much of a case did the authorities have against her. Anna, Bridget's 'adjustment companion' is actually worse than useless (actually Anna is the one that needs adjusting.)
As usual, Bridget has a tendency to stumble across dead bodies and end up being accused of being the murderer. She continues to have difficulty figuring out just what her relationship is with Oz. She also needs to avoid being murdered (being dead dead).
It's enough to keep her rather busy, indeed. A really neat addition to this quirky series..
I am enjoying the series. I do like the recurring characters alot. I also feel like that is how I've started each of these reviews. The editing errors seemed to be more noticeable this time which I hate to see. I intensely dislike Anna and am disappointed that she will be recurring. Bridget has enough conflict in her life as it is and I feel like her home should be a safe place (relatively speaking). I'm kind of hoping Anna is the next dead body Bridget finds or she gets to go away for re-education. I'll be interested to see where we go next as Tommy is one of my favorite man of mystery types. Bridget just really needs another man in her life keeping secrets (can you hear the sarcasm?). I'm also looking forward to her next meeting with the snake. Can he rebuild the bridges he burned? So much to look forward to.

I received this book for free in return for an honest review. This was the third book in the series and they just keep getting better and better. Bridget is growing into her afterlife and is becoming a nicer person. She still uses her "Mean Bridget" when necessary, but is really noticing that life is so much easier when she is nice to others. This story was well written, kept the plot moving along, and was funny. I laughed so hard at many of the scenes. There were even some twists at the end that I did not expect to see. The only complaint I had was that the discussions of possible suspects lost me so many times. There were so many suspects that could have committed the murder, so many reasons they could have done it, and so many reasons they couldn't have done it. But, the story was so entertaining. I do recommend this for everyone to read. It will make your day brighter.
Forget sitting around on a cloud with your angel wings - this is the real afterlife!
Awesome. Really love this series - that's why I'm re-reading the series. The afterlife is give a whole new meaning. Forget the land of milk and honey with angels playing harps on fluffy white clouds - this is a place where you work, prove that you are well adjusted to death and are o'malley probation for 10 years! When they hear that a former housemate has escaped the asylum, everyone is put on high alert. After all she had been convicted of 3 and 1/2 murders. With her annoying adjustment companion, Bridget and her BFF try to find her. Bodies start piling up. Will the culprit be found. Tremendous plot with lots of humour and action and characters that you will love or hate.
Another fun and funny mystery in the afterlife. The perfect pick me up after a trying week I chuckled my way through Bridget’s adventures in crime solving as she discovers yet another body (at least this one didn’t fallout of her locker), reunites with Tommy (YAY), gives Evil Barbie a hard time and freaks Sabrina out by discovering she may have a heart. But don’t worry mean Bridget still makes an appearance when necessary. And while Bridget may be starting to adjust to her afterlife she hasn’t lost any of her common sense or sarcasm.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy from the author in return for an honest review.
Yet another hilarious adventure with Bridget and her bestie Sabrina. I think it's hysterical that everyone in the afterlife seems to think Sabrina is so well-adjusted when she ends up doing as many illegal things as Bridget does--she's usually the instigator, lol. At least this time, even though Bridget was finding bodies or being around when they were found, she wasn't accused. Although I'm sure that Detective Johnson would just love to accuse her of something. I was wrong on who I guessed for the killer this time too. Great borrow on Kindle Unlimited, and I'm going ahead and reading the fourth one since I have it on KU as well.
The murder mystery in this one was super involved. More than a single murder occurs and multiple suspects. The heroine Bridget was the focal person in the book. Her bestie Sabrina did not play as prominent a role in this book. I was sad about that as I really like Sabrina. But in this book Sabrina came off a bit too untrusting. Her thinking everyone is a suspect was overplayed in the book. Bridget and Sabrina made a great team in the first two books. I hope I will see that again in the next book.
this novel took the story in a slightly different direction, some of the previous characters have much smaller parts to play, and the house mates get more time but are still very much background, I must admit to wanting to know more about Petal, still not sure of her age i am presuming around 15+ she is meant to be fay, carefree and Emotional but there’s more depth than with the others. the murder mystery is definitely a complex twist and fun to work out, read the book in two sittings, still a lot of Fun and i will read the next one.
Dead people dropping dead again with Bridgett in the middle, again!
Read this in one day! Bridgett, once more, is having bodies drop dead, again, in front of her and being accused of their demise. Saddled now with an Adjustment Companion she loathes and three clingy housemates, she finds herself getting drawn into investigating an asylum where the supposed murderer had escaped from. With Sabrina and a former adversary patient if the asylum she must solve the murders before they are next.
I was planning on reading another book, but this one just lured me in. Kept winking at me: read me, read me! So I did and I’m glad!
I’m impressed once again. I’ve run out of superlatives for this series. I just don’t know what to say anymore. Or maybe I do: fun, quirky, well-written, hilarious, sarcastic, suspenseful, fantastic, fluent, original, unputdownable; I enjoyed it IMMENSELY!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
Another body drops at Bridget's feet. At least this one isn't in her locker. How is it that Bridget is such a magnet for dead bodies? This doesn't seem to happen to anybody else. These bodies are dead people to start with. How can they be killed a second time? Get a copy of this book and come along on this roller coaster ride with Bridget. See if you can figure out who the murderer is before Bridget and Sabrina does. I'm voluntairly posting a review. My opinion is my own.
This is that one available at the time I wrote this. There has to be more because Bridget and Sabrina are just too much fun. Totally different twists and turns. Great mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. Awesome wit and sarcasm (Bridget and Sabrina). You'll be hooked. Start at the prequel, get the free #1 and then you'll be hooked!
Mean Bridget is fun to read, nice Bridget is kind and caring. How can they both be the same person. Well you have to read the book to find out. This story was funny and very entertaining. I really like this series. Ms. Robinson has me hooked on her books. You really need to read this series.
The characters and their crazy problems are really growing on me. They don't always make the best decisions but it's still fun watching them get into trouble. Plus it doesn't hurt that they manage to solve a murder or two along the way. I enjoyed this book and plan to jump right into the next one.
Great book Jordaina love this series it made me laugh to where I laugh out loud when reading !!! To i want to protect Bridget myself from her being harassed all the time by the police to the GB i recommend all paranormal readers to read this series you won't regret it Great book !!!!
This series just keeps getting better and better! It always keeps you on your toes. Though I did figure out who the murderer was in this book before the end I still wasn't 100% sure why. Can't wait to read more!
Bridget Sway was neck deep in trouble again. But I loved every moment of it. This series has been so very enjoyable. I just went on amazon and got book four. If you like cozy mystery novels you’ll love this book. If you like paranormal you’ll love this book, too.
Bridget seems to be having a very, very bad afterlife. I can sympathize with the whole "if it can go wrong, it will" persona. She's doing better with playing with others, which can't bode well for the next book.
Hilarious! Fantastic! Beyond Expectations! Bridget is getting better and better at finding those dead bodies, and the may of finding the killer after is too funny! Great series!
I absolutely love this series. Awesome characters, wonderful banter, pacing that moves the story along at a good clip. The mystery is nicely plotted, too. The books are FUN!
If you read my reviews on the 1st and 2nd Bridget Sway books, you know that I really didn't like the books but found myself compelled to read them cause they made me laugh and smile.. well, I'm finally beginning to say I like the books. each one is getting better.
