The Pershing sisters expected to have made good matches for themselves by now. Being daughters of the mayor should have put them in good position to snag the most eligible and promising young men in Cutter's Creek. So far, their prospects look slim.
Mary was determined to marry before her younger sister. She couldn't allow the disgrace of being second choice when she was the oldest, prettiest, and most stylish of the two. This spring would be the perfect time to get her future set with the appropriate husband to give her the life she deserved.
June's concern about getting married had waned. She no longer thought that a husband was her ticket to a happy and successful life. While she wasn't closed to love, she just didn't expect to find it - especially when her dreams were starting to drift toward a career that her family wasn't supportive of.
Zeke Miller has just come back to Cutter's Creek. He's finished college and decided it was time to go back home to be with his widowed mother - even if it was just for a short time. He knew he'd be able to find some sort of work to help him make a little money to set him up for the next phase of his life.
Zeke finds himself in quite a unique situation. Meeting beautiful sisters from a prominent family was causing him joy and pain. How would he handle this situation delicately and still get what he wanted? And was he really sure Cutter's Creek was the place for him?
Quiet, reserved, studious June, is the youngest daughter of the mayor of Cutter's Creek. Her older sister Mary is boisterous and not afraid to make her wishes known. Both sisters had previously been "courted" by Josh Garrett, but he had no intentions of anything more than a little diversion with them. Mary feels as the eldest daughter, and the lack of good, eligible bachelors in town, she should be married first.
Zeke Miller returns home from Chicago after being away at college for four years. Mary spots him one Sunday during church and immediately sets her cap for him and is already planning her marriage to him! Then Zeke stumbles into June... they both instantly feel a connection. But Mary refuses to give up and actively does all she can to win his attention.
This Cutter's Creek story has a different focus of main characters. It shows how sisters at this time handled finding a way in life. The idea that the eldest was entitled was very prevalent, and also the idea that women belonged in the home and not in college. The author handles these concepts very accurately. It's a good story.
Once again I fell more in love with Cutter's Creek, this is one of my favorite series. I wish I was as sweet as June lol but in these scenarios I would have definitely adverSary a run for her money, can't wait to see who finally games her.
Hero: Zeke - Heroine: June 4.* : Another great story in this series that is filled with fun, love and intrigue. The story progressed steadily, has well developed characters and a fun developing plot. This story has a very happy and satisfying HEA
Several themes played throughout this story making it a joy to read. The author dealt with the issue of sibling rivalry, especially when one sister feels entitled...or maybe it was fear. She also dealt with the issue of women's expanding roles at a time when it was accepted a woman should be content to only manage a home even if she had other interests and abilities. Well-written and a sweet romance.
Mary and June Pershing were daughters of the Mayor of Cutters Creek and had a reputation to uphold. Mary, being the oldest expected to marry first and would do anything to make that happen. She set out to make Zeke fall in love with her. Although she was the oldest, she was the oldest she was very immature, which turned away suitors. Zeke and June fell in love and he supported her wanting to get an education and become lawyer. A good read understanding sibling rivalry and life in a small town
A wonderful story of sister rivalry. A handsome man returns to Cutters Creek after college and captivates the attention of two sisters. Emotions run wild in this story jealousy, revenue and betrayal. I highly recommend you read this book and this series. Happy Reading🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
