Don’t catch feelings for Adam Rees.
I am a huge fan of this author's writing and I would like to start this review by saying that you please take it with a grain of salt. The things that didn't work for me might totally be your thing.
Adam is mastermind and head of FMK, a rising star in the world of Rock bands. He is pretty much everything you can expect from a rocker, minus the drugs. At a gig in a bar he sees his future, a beautiful redhead who turns out to be his new frontman's sister. When he sees the bruises and cuts in her face and on her body he can barely tame his anger.
Landry feels the instant connection with Adam as well. She has come to the bar because she didn't feel safe at home. She is a walking disaster and a catastrophe to happen. Her stalker came to her house and scared her. Unfortunately her brother is soon leaving for a tour, her parents are on a second honeymoon. Neither Adam nor Davis want to leave her behind. To take her out of the danger zone the band takes Landry with them on tour. While Adam loves having her close for the next two months she is his singer's sister and he and his bandmates have been warned to not touch Landry. How are Adam and Landry supposed to ignore their growing attraction when they are going to be locked up together in a tour bus for the next weeks?
I loved Landry and Adam separately. They were lovely and sweet. Adam is super protective and possessive of the girl he has fallen in love with.
There are men sniffing around her, though. She’s drawing them, like hungry wolves circling a rare piece of meat. I growl into the mic that she’s mine, all mine, that her kissing, her loving, her touching is mine, all mine.
He is also a bit arrogant and follows his gut feeling. Landry is the funny and nerdy heroine you can relate to. There was actually one situation she had experienced in her past that happened to me too and I had a deja vu and I giggled for a couple of minutes at the memory.
When I was fifteen, I went for an entire period with my skirt tucked into the back of my tights until a teacher, not even one of my damned friends, pulled it out for me.
Yup. that right there is me. She is also innocent and naive when it comes to men and her attraction to Adam is a little bit inconvenient since she has been warned that he isn't the relationship kind of guy. It was so sweet to see Adam pine for her. And right there was the problem - you don't get much interaction between the hero and the heroine until you reach the 40% mark. While I can totally get on board with insta-love here it didn't work for me because there was no relationship build-up. There was a lot of band drama and talk about Landry's stalker but not much one-on-one between the main characters which took away a lot of the plausibility of their growing feelings. All this distracted from the romance aspect.
Landry is still traumatized from her experience with her stalker and and this setup in the storyline had so much potential.
Marrow’s stalking did a number on me, scarring me mentally and making me wary of all penis owners.
The execution was, unfortunately, a little bit lame in the conclusion. I expected more tension and action but that didn't happen. It was over so fast that I had to blink twice and wonder if that was it.
In the chemistry department these two definitely worked. Once they give in to their mutual feelings and attraction it is explosive. Adam is quite the dirty talker! Whew!
This book can be read as a standalone, in case you were wondering. I am definitely going to read the other stories in this series!
Overall I did enjoy this story, as mentioned I loved the main characters, I just didn't feel the love between them. Still, Jen Frederick has a fan in me - she knows how to write likable and relatable characters. I am looking forward to her next book and I would love to get a story about Davis!
Love is a crazy little thing, but I get to share it with the best man in the world. I caught feelings for Adam Rees. He caught them back.

As a very dedicated music junky I greatly appreciated the way this author wrote about music. Jen Frederick created Adam's character brilliantly and the way he spoke about music had me swooning all over the place. I loved that he was so into what he did and that he was very protective over the music he created.
Past his love of music he was also amazing with Landry and I adored these two together. Adam became super protective over her very fast and I loved reading about him pursuing her. I honestly wish we would have gotten more of Adam and Landry together but I think that's just because I loved them a s a couple so much. The hot rocker and the computer nerd, what's not to love?
I actually lost track of this series somehow so I haven't read the previous book but I definitely plan on rectifying that soon. I need more of these men!

In this Woodlands group of friends from Central College who lived together, Adam is the musician of the bunch. He grew up on tour with his famous father, and has music in his blood. Finally on the verge of something big with his band, he's hit with the most inconvenient feelings when he spots Landry at one of his shows. Normally, he'd have no hesitation pursuing this beautiful redhead, but the sister of his new talented frontman has trouble written all over her.
Adam has a serious case of love at first sight when it comes to Landry. He sees her and knows without a doubt, she is the one who is meant for him. I'm not a reader who is staunchly against insta-love. If the author can sell it, then I'm open to it. In Adam and Landry's case, I think it influenced my inability to fully connect to their romance. There was a certain detachment I felt throughout the book that I kept hoping would go away. But I never did seem to get on board with the emotional side between them.
When it came to their attraction for each other, there was definitely nothing lacking. Not to mention, plenty of sexual tension and internal longing on both their parts. Adam was the the cutest with his secret desperation to be with her. Constantly having to suppress his desire for her, it became harder and harder to control. Especially when he could clearly see that she was equally as attracted to him.
This never happens to me. I'm a computer geek-I don't go around fantasizing about licking a guy's zipper. This attraction to Adam is starting to freak me out.
Landry was a great heroine, she had the nerdy thing going for her which is one of my reading weaknesses. In college, she was more than happy to stay behind the computer screen where she felt most comfortable. Now she's financially stable, but completely inexperienced with men. Her one experience with a guy was being stalked and attacked so she isn't exactly eager to go playing the field.
After a hint of a threat from her stalker, her brother forces her on tour with the band to watch over her. Adam is assigned to keep an eye on her, it's keeping his hands off of her that's the real challenge. I liked how Landry was open with him about her crush from the start. She wasn't so shy or repressed that she couldn't be honest with him about her feelings. She just wasn't willing to risk developing deeper feelings for him if they were to have a physical relationship. She knew that Adam could have any girl he wanted and she was only traveling with them for a short time.
There were a few things that didn't work for me, but that's not saying that didn't like it overall. It was still a solid three star read, I just found that I didn't have the same excitement as I have with most of her other books. I had a hard time getting absorbed in it. I think Adam and Landry needed more alone time, more time to develop their actual relationship and emotions. This story was more band centered, revolving around the varied band members interactions and visits from Adam's college friends.
The other thing was that the stalker subplot didn't really do much for me. After having him discussed throughout the book, and having the threat of a reappearance hanging over her head, in the end it turned out to be anticlimactic.
Jen Frederick is one of my go-to authors and I'll read anything she writes. While I didn't fully love this one, there were lots of funny moments and plenty of steam and chemistry to get your temperature rising. If you like rockstar romances that's low on drama, than this could be the right choice for you.

4 "love behind the music" stars
I liked this "off limits romance" and, for me, the first book I ve read in Woodlands series, cause it was enjoyable and not blindely linked to the previous books in the mentioned series which is definitely a plus! *wink
You might think this is just another "forbidden" romance set in a music world background and you would be right, of course but if you'd decide on passing it by, you would also miss out on a fantastically portrayed "presence" of the main character - the band leader songwriter and the lead guitarist Adam Rees, then the absolutely itchy sensation of the angsty anticipation spread through out the story while the main characters, Adam and Landry (who just happens to be the band's lead vocalist Davis's sister, who joined the band trying to hide from the psycho stalker that is threatening her life, and therefore, she's off limits) fight against the attraction towards each other, cause of the fear it might destroy and devide the unity of the band. And then when they finally do succumb to the carnal desires it's too late to control the speed of immense sexual intensity that is even more evident the more they try to hide it from the rest of the band.
Even though this is the high point of the storyline, it doesn't only rest on the romance factor, it's also intertwined with reflective insights on the main character's inner search for the meaning and substance (here especially through out the music) in life, while he's trying to do what he loves and what makes a huge part of him as an individual and not fall under the pressure of mainstream superficial hardcore capital by selling himself and his essence in the name of the commercial music industry.
But to state again, Jen Frederick can write angsty anticipation and sexual build up like no one's business, and since I'm a sucker for that notion and feeling and I always feel the itchy, vivid rush from it, that alone is worth 4 stars, if not more. *wink*

The Woodlands series is one of those series that I will literally drop everything for. Since the very first book I fell in love not just with the perfect writing style of Jen Frederick but with all of the amazing characters she produces. So as soon as a new Woodlands series is released I know I am going to sit down with a character I already know and love and get the opportunity to fall in love with another one.
I was a little nervous when I saw this one was Adam’s story. See I really love Adam but he was such a massive manwhore and I am not a huge fan of rock star romances generally (groupies aren’t my thing) so I was apprehensive about what we were going to get. I knew I would love it I was just scared I was going to tie my stomach in knots dealing with angst and drama.
I should have had more faith in my beloved Jen. Adam was just the perfect book boyfriend from page one. He fell so hard and so fast and was so sweet and devoted and just damn I want one BUT then he was also this pierced and tatted rock god who could throw out dirty talk and back it up. I didn’t know if I was going to swoon or spontaneously combust.
Then of course there was Landry. She was totes adorbs. I really liked that she was part shy, insecure, computer geek with a streak of steel. Like most of Jen’s characters she was multifaceted and felt so real. Plus we got all of the other band members and their families and a little bit of the original Woodlands couples to just add another great part of this great series.
If you haven’t met the men of Woodlands you have no excuses since Jen has them all on sale and if you’re lucky the first one might even still be free. Well that was such a lovely story. Until a few weeks ago I didn't know anything about the Woodlands series so I had no idea who Adam was. I read Undeclared because I wanted a little background but I didn't have the time to catch up on all the other books - yet. I mention this so you know you can absolutely read this as a stand-alone.
FMK is the third band that Adam had created. He's very particular when it comes to music. And the guys with him might be on board or out.
Laundryis Davis' sister, the new singer of the band. So when FMK has an opportunity to go on tour and Davis doesn't want to let her with a stalker, she has not other option than to join them.
While Unwritten is a case of love at first sight, the relation between Adam & Laundry was a slow build. I enjoyed seeing them trying to resist the pull they had. It was a real torture at some point to see such sparks but not one of them could do a thing about it because of Davis.
I love seeing how characters grow in a book and it was exactly how it happens in Unwritten. Laundry was a little insecure and became a woman with more confidence. Adam was a little too narrow-minded but he learnt to see things differently.
Books about music are often a hit for me because I love to witness the backstage. With FMK being at their debut it was fun to see them progress as Adam's band to a real family where all are taking their right place. I'm attached to all of them. I really hope Jen is considering giving the other members a story because I definitely don't have enough of them all.
Unwritten is just the perfect book if you want to snuggle on a Sunday (or any day) with music in your head and love in your heart.

Adam finally found the girl he wants to spend forever with. Too bad she comes with a LOT of baggage. Not only does she have a crazy stalker – she’s also the sister of his new bandmate Davis!! But all that doesn’t stop the insta-attraction they both feel. Even though they think the other could never feel the same …. But they have to fight it – which is not really easy when Landry has to go on tour with them for two months, because her brother doesn’t want to leave her alone with her stalker near by!
I really enjoyed this book! Rockstar romances are my absolute favorite! I would’ve enjoyed it a bit more, had I known that this was book #5 in a series. But all the old couples just show up a few times, it’s not really necessary to know their stories. But I personally hate it to not know the first books in a series!
But even without knowing much about anyone and anything, I really liked Adam and Landry. They were so adorable! I love rockstar romances where we’re really doing rockstar things like going on tour! And here we have all those adorable and crazy guys on a bus with one girl! Too funny!
Too bad Davis told everyone HANDS OFF HIS SISTER! Poor Adam!
It takes them a while, but of course they can’t deny their attraction forever.
I loved reading it! I would’ve wished for a bit more. A bit faster in the sexiness department. Just a bit more. Not much happens. We’re on the bus and fight about music and the band, talk about the stalker and think about feelings. But nobody really does anything. Nothing really happens. BUT, I still liked it… I just wanted a bit more excitement! Not that there’s NO excitement. We have some sexy time and some frustrating moments and funny moments and suspensy scenes. It was a really great romance! A #RockstarRomance can’t do anything wrong in my eyes. It can always be better, but as long as it’s a rockstar romance, I’m pretty happy with it!

I have enjoyed this series and have been looking forward to Adam's book. He is a musician that is finally finding his stride and is ready to go on tour with his new band. But his new lead singer, Davis, can't come on tour unless his sister, Landry, comes with them. For Adam that could be either the best or worst idea since he has been attracted to Landry since he first saw her. She's got a crush on him too. But her brother has already made all of the guys promise to stay away from her and also make Landry promise not to get involved with any of his band. So she is off limits and they are stuck in a tour bus together while they pretend they are not interested in each other.
Adam is charismatic, talented, but controlling and stubborn. He wants to do things his way. So when Landry and the band challenges that, it causes tension. Landry is more a shy, awkward, geek that does not see her own appeal. And her past has traumatized her.
But the more they are together, the more sexual tension, repressed feelings, jealousy, and anger rears its ugly head. Even as they finally admit what they want to each other, Landry still wants to keep them a secret from her brother and the band to avoid conflict.
So it is a precarious situation that could unravel at any time. Not to the mention the really good reason that Landry had to go on tour with them in the first place. Adam has to figure out what is best for him, Landry, and the band.
I had a bit of a disconnect with this couple and story. I am not exactly sure why. The fact that previous playboy Adam took one look at Landry and basically saw "forever" was a bit much. It was definitely a slow build and took quite a while for them to progress past their insta-attraction. And then the whole hiding thing further hindered them. It was a bit hard to get invested in their feelings when they were hiding them so much.
It was told in dual points of view which I did like. I enjoyed the cameos of the other characters from previous books: Bo, Ann Marie, Noah, Grace, Finn, and Mal. And I liked the band Davis, Rudd, and Ian (and his wife, Berry).
It was a love-on-the-road-fledgling-rock-band read with an off-limits-friend's-little-sister component. there was also a bit of suspense due to Landry's past. It was enjoyable enough, but was not that angsty or romantic. It did not have quite the emotional hook or turmoil that some of the other books in this series has had. But I do like the dynamics of the group of characters. Their banter and humor is fun. Mal still needs his story and now she has opened the door for a spin off with Davis or Rudd.

Jen Frederick rocks the heck out of this rock star romance. All the ingredients are there to make Unwritten an entertaining read, and the result is quite successful.
Adam is the lead guitarist/songwriter for an up and coming band. Although women are plentiful and he’s no saint, Adam isn’t a total horndog. When he meets Landry, the new lead singer’s sister, he knows she is the one for him. It’s not technically a case of insta-love since the words, “love,” aren’t uttered. However, literally the moment he lays eyes on her he becomes convinced she’s the woman he will spend the rest of his life with. Insta anything tends to bug me, so I was surprised I was able to overlook it and just enjoy the ride.
Landry is an unadventurous, awkward computer geek who is forced to go on tour with her brother and his band. She is oblivious to her appeal, and Davis is super protective of his sister. His off limits edict, Landry and Adam’s growing mutual attraction, and close living quarters make for great some great sexual tension. There’s a side plot to add a bit of drama and a colorful cast of band members.
For all of Adam and Landry’s secret encounters, the exposure of their relationship is a tad anticlimactic. Nonetheless, this is a fun story that satisfied my taste for a lighthearted romance.
Unwritten is a standalone within the Woodlands series.

However, literally the moment he lays eyes on her he becomes convinced she’s the woman he will spend the rest of his life with. Insta anything tends to bug me, so I was surprised I was able to overlook it and just enjoy the ride.
Landry is an unadventurous, awkward computer geek who is forced to go on tour with her brother and his band. She is oblivious to her appeal, and Davis is super protective of his sister. His off limits edict, Landry and Adam’s growing mutual attraction, and close living quarters make for great some great sexual tension. There’s a side plot to add a bit of drama and a colorful cast of band members.
For all of Adam and Landry’s secret encounters, the exposure of their relationship is a tad anticlimactic. Nonetheless, this is a fun story that satisfied my taste for a lighthearted romance.
Unwritten is a standalone within the Woodlands series.

This book was a light and fun read . So very different from all of Jen's other books that I've read . It's a very sweet story and different from your typical rock star romances . It doesn't dwell on the complicated side of dating a rock star . It focuses more on the relationship of the leading characters .
Adam a very loveable hero an a music genius not very hang up on the glitters of a rock star life . He was very down to earth and very driven and I loved that about him . Landry was just as sweet and not complicated . I loved how their story grew up from attraction to a beautiful love story .
If you are looking for a refreshing and light fun read then this is your book .

Unwritten by Jen Frederick is a fun, flirty, sweet, and sexy forbidden rock star story! Though it is the fifth book in the Woodlands series, it can definitely be read as a standalone.
Adam has been working hard to get his band, Fuck Marry Kill, noticed in the music world and it seems as though the band's luck is changing. Getting an offer to go on tour could be the thing that makes them famous, and he doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize this opportunity. What Adam doesn't plan for is the gorgeous woman who ends up traveling with them.
And it is love-at-first sight. Or at least lust-at-first sight for Adam. He wants Landry even before he finds out that she will be joining them on tour. It turns out Landry wants Adam just as badly, however, no matter how attracted she is to him, her brother is the front man for FMK and she doesn't want to screw anything up for him like she has in the past. So, though Adam consumes her thoughts, Landry tries hard to stay away from anything more than a friendship. Only time will tell if they can keep things platonic or if the spark they feel ends up finally combusting.
This book is a quick, entertaining read. It was an interesting tension filled take on the forbidden romance and it played up the rock star scene well. I liked getting to know Adam and Landry and following the band on tour.
Adam is a rock god. He is drop dead gorgeous and extremely talented. Not only does he want to make a name for him and his band separate from his famous father’s influence, but he now has someone in his sights who is worth settling down with. Getting inside his head and feeling the intense desires he had for Landry was fantastic, and I loved his dirty mouth. He was sweet, protective, and I loved that when he decided she was the one for him, his eyes never strayed.
Landry is smart, beautiful, and a little geeky. I loved that she knows exactly who she is and that she isn't a groupie type who just falls all over the band. She had such a fun personality and her inner dialogue cracked me up.
She is sweet and cares so much for the people in her life and makes a lot of decisions based on what would make them happy. I do wish she took the initiative to physically go after what she wanted sooner because I felt her attraction towards Adam more on the inside and not as much on the outside.
There's no denying that there was a whole lot of sexual tension between Adam and Landry that started from the moment they met. It just grows more intense and frustrating the longer they fight their attraction. When they give into their desire it is hot and heavy. However, I felt that the actual romance could have been explored deeper. Though they have a strong allure to each other, I didn't feel much of a real connection between them. I enjoyed the powerful longing they felt inside but I wanted it to be translated on the outside. Large portions of the book lacked scenes between them and rather featured Adam and Landry with the other characters in the story. Though secondary characters added hilarious elements and character support to the story, I wanted to watch Adam and Landry spend more time together, bonding, and turning their friendship into something real based on more than just lust. I didn't feel like they got to know each other well enough to warrant how much they meant to each other until the ending. I did, however, really like the epilogue which had a great mix of heart, humor, and steam.
Overall, Unwritten is an enjoyable read and I recommend it to fans of rock star stories and forbidden romances.

I discovered Jen Frederick’s writing with Undeclared, the first book in her Woodlands series which I thoroughly enjoyed. After that, I made sure every Woodlands story would be on my reading list. Though the series started out with a college campus setting, it branched off to include other friends and as the characters have grown older, the college life has been left behind. A few of the friends live together in a large house in the Woodlands (hence the series name) and one of them, Adam, is ready to take his show on the road – literally.
Adam is the talented guitarist of up and coming rock band FMK. The son of a rock star, he grew up in the lifestyle but is determined not to be like his father whose antics led to fan expectations and pigeon-holed him into one style of show as a result. Adam writes songs for other singers, is picky about where his guys perform and is wary of being a commercial success too soon – no one wants to be known as a one-hit wonder. When FMK has a chance to go on a 5-month tour with a reputable promotion company, everyone is on board, including his new lead singer Davis. Davis has a sister Landry, a young woman who has had a bad experience with a stalker and he’s reluctant to leave her behind while his parents are away on their own vacation so he’ll come on the tour – as long as she can come with them.
When Adam first sees Landry as a spectator at one of their shows, he’s instantly attracted to her. Finding out she’s his lead singer’s sister? He’s dismayed but determined – there’s something about her that is different and calls to him. Bringing Landry along on the tour is the solution to Davis’s concerns but having her in close proximity is definitely going to test Adam, especially since Landry confesses the attraction is mutual. They can only keep their hands off each other for so long – but what happens when Davis finds out? And can a road trip fling really lead to something more permanent?
I enjoyed this story. It’s a slow burn romance, as the first half establishes Adam and Landry as friends who are fighting their attraction to each other. Davis has put his foot down in the ‘no touching my sister’ zone and has made it clear to the rest of the band that she’s off limits. This puts Adam off for a little while, but not for too long. Landry is 24, a smart woman who is a computer programmer by trade. She’s got money from having sold an app she developed with a college friend, so she’s not interested in Adam for his wealth or potential fame. Her history with men is not so great but she’s definitely old enough to make her own choices. Adam and Landry know they won’t be able to keep things a secret for too long once they get together. They eventually share some steamy scenes and their emotional connection is just as strong as their physical one.
The stalker storyline is intense but not overly suspenseful as Landry had a classmate in college who imagined their acquaintance to be more than it was, with severe consequences. Though he only physically attacked her once, it was enough to go to jail and for her to have a restraining order on him, but he’s already out for time served and is still in the picture. It adds some tension to the story. The behind the scenes look at a rock band on tour was quite fun and I really enjoyed the scenes on and off the stage. All the guys are unique and likable characters and have great camaraderie together, but like any group in close quarters, they have to deal with disagreements too. This is especially true when they talk about the band’s future, with Adam having his own ideas that clash with the rest of the band.
Just like the band has their ups and downs, so too does Adam and Landry’s relationship. Clashes between Davis and Adam put Landry in the middle, testing her loyalties. As the tour progresses they both have baggage to contend with before they get to their happy ending. But it’s worth the wait and we get a sweet epilogue too. Plus, for fans of the series, there are some nice cameos of Adam’s friends from earlier books in the series. I’m always happy to visit with the Woodlands gang, and Unwritten is an enjoyable and entertaining new adult romance.

I usually do a full review, but have been sick for days, so this is as much as I can pull together:
-First book I’ve ever read in this series, works as standalone. I’m curious about the earlier books, but I don’t feel I needed to read them for this to work, which is always cool.
-Loved the plot, since rocker romances (especially while they’re on tour) are some of my faves.
-Hero is sexy and all about the heroine, which is like catnip to me. He’s a smoker, which maybe isn’t, though I think it’s very true to life for the lifestyle.
-Heroine is adorably dorky. Nose stuck in computer code, completely oblivious to how hot she is, of course. She’s a bit too insecure and oblivious at times, but when she stepped up at the right time.
-Slow burner of a romance, which I like
-Needed a bit more time together exploring their feelings through dialogue, as opposed to their inner monologues. Lust to love jump is pretty quick. It wasn’t jarring, but it was a bit of a stretch, but the story still worked, overall.
I liked it. Jen Frederick is moving up my list of go-to NA romance authors, and I’d like to check out the rest of this series. I’d recommend for fans of rocker romances.

Everyone reads the same book differently and I am sad to say that this one didn’t do much for me. I have been sitting on my review because I have been conflicted because I usually love this author’s work. It’s a solid read, but I will explain why it fell flat for me.
This is the first time I have read the Woodlands series and it seems like a great series. This is a stand-alone and you don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this book.
I loved the main characters, Adam Rees and Landry Olsen. They were great characters, but there was a disconnect for me with them. They had chemistry that was off the charts, but I couldn’t connect to them and I don’t know why. I’m not sure if it was because they took so long to get together or because of the secretive relationship that you really couldn’t feel their relationship develop.
There is a lot going on in the story and it was a quick read that kept me interested, however, the ending felt rushed and left me wanting more. The stalker issue was woven throughout the story, but when things finally shook out, it was anticlimactic for me.
By all means this is my personal opinion and if you love rock star romance with a nerdy quirky heroine and sexy rock star, give this book a try.

Somehow I seem to do things out of order. Although this is the fifth in Jen Fredereric's Woodlands series, its the first that I've read. It's a thoroughly enjoyable story that mixes "forbidden" romance with an element of mystery and to top it off, it's set in the world of an up and coming band on tour. There's many dynamics between the band mates and the touring partners that keep the story flowing at a good pace. But at the center if the story is Landry and Adam, two well matched twenty somethings with a distinct spark between them and weeks on the road together in which to fight it or succumb while keeping it on the down low.
The story is told from both of their perspectives and I really enjoyed being in Landry's head. She's whip smart, very witty and in need of protection. Protection Adam intends to provide. Adam Reeves is finally getting his band off the ground. Now that they have a lead singer with a unique voice, they have the opportunity to tour and get more exposure. The only catch is the lead singer, Davis, won’t go on tour unless his sister, Landry, comes with them. This isn’t a hardship for Adam, he’s been interested in Landy since he laid eyes on her, except that Davis has made Landry off limits to the band.

Even though the attraction between them is instant, this really is more of a slow build, at times frustratingly slow. The amount of time they spend together by the time things start to turn physical means they know a lot about each other (as do the readers) before the sexy times start to heat up. They start things in secret, but when everyone is in close quarters all the time, how long can they keep things under wraps?
It was a lot of fun to see cameos from the other Woodlands couples, and really get to know Adam’s band as they travel together. There is a lot of time spent on the bus, and a lot of time to get to know these men. This feels like a great starting point for a spin-off with stories for the other members of the band, but it also fits with the Woodlands series nicely.
While this isn’t my favorite of the Woodlands books, it was definitely a needed story. As Adam has been watching his roommates fall in love, he has realized that love isn’t something that holds anyone back when both parties are true. He wants what his friends have, but hasn’t found the one he wants to give up the fun of variety for until now.

I really liked that the drama didn't come from the obvious places! They were just talking and getting to know one another...it was super sweet!
So why only 3 stars I hear you ask....it's mainly because the book I re-read before this was completely fantastic, and a bit of a tough act to follow! I know that shouldn't have an effect on my rating but It did! If in the future I re/read this one I might change my rating but I think for now it's was a solid enjoyable 3 stars!!

It was great that even though they had an instant connection, they had to get to know each other due to the circumstances of the tour. It was so fun watching the band come together—to really work with each other and grow into a unit, to truly make themselves a band! It was fun being a bit of a fly on a wall during the tour—to sit on the side of stage and watch FMK perform. I loved the band dynamics too—loved how they acted like a bunch of siblings—so fun with the shit they gave each other. And, of course, I loved seeing the cameos by Noah and Grace and Ann Marie and Bo made my day too. ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

It's not until he spots the green-eye redhead at his latest show, that he understands what his friends and roommates have been going on about with their relationships.
Landry has had a tough couple of years. She's spent most of her life behind a computer screen and the unwanted attention from Marrow hasn't helped. She's a little socially awkward. When she's introduced to Adam, she's immediately attracted to him.
Landry's brother Davis has the chance to go on a five month tour with Adam and FMK and she decides to go with them in order to give her brother the peace of mind he needs. Davis has made it quite clear to his bandmates that Landry is off limits.
Not knowing how each other feels, the pressure builds until things come to a head with Landry and Adam. Will they find a way to communicate with each other and tell her brother how they really feel about each other; and will the danger that's always lurking in the background be put to rest?
I really loved this book. There were deep moments and hilarious moments. The dynamics of the band and their relationships were fantastic. Rudd was hilarious and cracked me up. Ian and Adam had their moments and you got a sense of the fact that they'd been bandmates and family to each other for a long time. I loved how they all embraced Davis and Landry.
Without saying too much to give it away, I loved what Landry became away from her demons and on tour with the band. She came out of her shell and was finally able to relax.
I'm a huge fan of Jen Frederick's so this book being good wasn't a surprise, but it's always nice to read a good book.

Unwritten was a funny read. It had me chuckling loudly at times. It was also slow, especially the first half of the book and yeah I know the relationship between Landry and Adam was a slow burn but I wished things had developed quicker between them. I also found that it was a bit choppy, parts of it didn't flow naturally, it felt a bit like things were missing.
I did find it an enjoyable read but I wished that it had fully worked for me.

"It's not that I don't like live music, per se. It's more that I prefer to sit at home, in sweatpants, watching re-runs of Real Housewives. I like my glamour and excitement secondhand."
Oh, how I adored our heroine in this book. Landry Olsen is the type of character that has realistic reactions to unrealistic scenarios within their story and I appreciate that so much in a literary character.
When I'm lost in a story and the main character ignores the fact that whatever crazy scenario they're in isn't completely realistic, it pulls me out of the story because I have to roll my eyes. Haha!
But Landry's reactions to the situations she found herself in while being on the road with a rock band were spot on. I was able to stay into the story through the full book without one single eye roll. ;)
Our Book Boyfriend, Adam Rees, won me over in the very first chapter. I had been expecting to read another rocker story where the Rock Star's ego is as big as his...guitar, but Adam surprised me. He's clearly a control freak but the way he truly cares about every member of his band, including Landry, is totally swoon worthy.
Unwritten is one of those reads that has several characters that stand out while you read. Even though Adam and Landry were great characters, I was utterly smitten with Rudd.
Rudd reminds me a lot of my favorite Royal boy, Easton from Paper Princess by Erin Watt. ;) He's an over the top flirt, but totally harmless and completely lovable.
I found this book to be an easy read with a slightly predictable but entertaining plot, slow burning romance, and truly likable characters. There is also a touch of suspense thrown in so there's sure to be something for every reader to enjoy.
I give Unwritten 4.5 out of 5 Krissy's Stars.
I'd really like to read more about Rudd next. I'm willing to beg the author if I need to. Haha!

In this book Adam and his band go on tour, on the tour with them is Landry, who also happens to be Davis (the lead singers sister).
Adam is immediately drawn to Landry almost like love at first sight but as far as the rules go she is his bandmates sister and is therefore off limits. I really enjoyed this book it was a slow burn, a lot of back and forth between the two characters and it took quite awhile for them to get together. When they did though it was that they couldn't get enough and it was a thrilling read with some hot scenes.
I think Landry was just what Adam needed to help with his path to become a successful band she helped him see things that I think he was close minded about. There is also the suspense wondering if they will get caught by Davis and what his reaction would be.

Unwritten by Jen Frederick follow the band FMK as they tour and attempt make it big. Following the tour is Landry, the new lead singer's sister, who is escaping some dangerous circumstances from home. From their first meeting Landry and Adam are attracted to each other, but their relationship does not take the route of a typical rock-star romance. Adam, like most rockers, is insanely attractive, incredibly gifted, and great in the sack, but, unlike most rockers, he immediately recognizes that he wants more with Landry and is patient and understanding with wooing her. The aspect of Landry that drew me to her is her intelligence. She is incredibly smart, but is struggling being extroverted with the past she has endured. Readers will begin to love her as she develops a friendship with Rudd, and they will fall in love with her as she begins to fall in love Adam. As with any good relationship, these two change each other, and they evolve for the better.
This novel is what I would consider a slow burn. It takes a long time for these two to connect and get together. Much of the time is used to develop their relationship emotionally, which is reasonable based on the past that Landry has endured. Once they get together, though, Jen Frederick, although throwing some turmoil their way, leaves them in tact, which is a huge selling point for me as a reader.
Unwritten is fun rock-star romance with likable characters and engaging plot. Readers will certainly enjoy watching Adam and Landry fall in love, the family dynamics of FMK, and their journey to stardom.

Landry goes on tour with FMK after her brother, the bands new frontman refuses to leave her after a stalking incident. FMK is Adams’ third band and he is trying to get them off the ground. He is protective of how they go about their success. He is also immediately protective of Landry and is excited to have her join the tour so he can get close to her. He knows she is forbidden fruit because of his bandmate but he wants her anyway.
Adam is your classic rocker bbf. He was hot and sweet and it is pretty insta love for him when he meets Landry. Landry was adorable. She is quirky and a shy computer geek who doesn’t usually go for guys like Adam but she is drawn to him anyway. This was a sweet and sexy story. If you love protective bbf’s and a slow burn romance you will love this one.
Adam is your classic rocker bbf. He was hot and sweet and it is pretty insta love for him when he meets Landry. Landry was adorable.
