Found this book in the back of my bookshelf the other day. Covers a lot of 'myths' about various things from plants, animals, insects, etc. It starts each 1 - 2 page chapter with the "myth" and below it gives a few words as to "How True Is It?" I found it interesting to see what some folks believe that I had never considered, as well as a degree of the scientific evidence of why it was or wasn't (or somewhere in between...). I have learned that, despite arguable evidence to the contrary, many people believe what they believe, have been told by family, friends, culture, read in a magazine, saw on TV, etc, etc. rather than look at what may be 'truth'. Regardless, the information given is written in an easy to understand manner. There are various studies, experiences, etc cited through out. I do think it comes down to people believing what they want to believe....but I still thought it was an interesting read.
A fun easy read about the origins and veracity of the old wives tales we grew up hearing. It was fun to pick up some new tidbits as I read. I just had a good time reading it!
