This cookbook was written to help others make a ketogenic or very low carb diet a lifetime commitment. After a lifetime of obesity, following this way of eating began as a desperate plan to lose weight and evolved into a journey to manage my health and not just my weight. While I enjoy eating the best foods of my life and losing weight, I also have come to appreciate that my overall health has improved. I no longer need any of the four medications that I was on before I started keto. I no longer wait in the car or at the hotel while my family hikes. Now I’m the one who suggests that we go for walk or go kayaking or play at the pool. My husband and I have been on a ketogenic diet since June 2013, yet one of our physicians still asks whether this “diet” is sustainable in spite of our having lost a combined 180 lbs! Moreover, my husband's blood pressure has gone from the verge of needing medication to being low normal. Still, the physician asks if we can sustain it long term. In fact, more than one medical professional has told me that this way of eating is “too difficult to follow” or “too restrictive”. One of the goals of this cookbook is to prove that notion wrong. This cookbook has the "everyday" recipes that my family and I have enjoyed on our very own journey to health. There are some low carb “treat”, but the majority of the recipes in this book are the simple recipes that have become part of our day to day lives. There are delicious, filling breakfasts that will keep your tummy happy when it’s tired of scrambled eggs and bacon and hearty sides that will never make you feel deprived. This is “diet” food that you will be proud to share at any potluck and your “carbivore” friends will expect you to share! I snuck in a few very low carb treats for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions because these are the foods with which we have also celebrated on our journey. It is my sincere wish that these recipes can help you sustain a very low carb diet as a delicious life style.
I was just watching Kristie and her husband bake bacon in the oven for the coming week. Very good ideas and they manage to make it amusing too. Then I watched her shopping video as her ideas may reverse my diabetes and actually help me to lose weight without suffering. She has all the pointers for avoiding soybeans, brown sugar, etc!
I recommend this for everyone. Anyone can learn how to eat a healthier diet by following Kristie. My mother used to save bacon fat and for years I thought it was such a bad idea and used olive oil. Mom was right. Sometimes I get allergic to olive oil and have to avoid it. Probably perfect for some but not for me.
This is a high fat diet. It goes against everything we have been told for ages. IMO we were lied to by our government.
One of the best Keto books on the market!! Loaded with excellent recipes, you also get her story and little tidbits about how the recipes came about. Check her out on youtube, but this book and pre-order the next one if you're serious about losing weight and getting healthy!!!
Recipes I have tried so far have been good. Started following Kristie on FB months ago but didn't start the Keto diet until 2 months ago. After dropping 20 pounds I feel better than I have in years.
A great resource for people on interested in a ket o lifestyle. I love the good choice. And knowing so many of the recipes can be viewed on YouTube is so helpful. I love this cook book. I have spent a lot more money on bigger names in the Keto cooking arena, but you should save yours, and grab Kristie's book first.
These recipes are easy to follow, and they are for everyday deliciousness. A must have with simple ingredients, great substitutions, and no nonsense directions. Thank you for writing this wonderful keto cook book! It was exactly what I was needing, but couldn't exactly find.
Great book full of useful recipes. Beginning a Keto lifestyle can become boring pretty quickly without some guidance from someone who has already been successfully following this path. Kristine Sullivan's book has been a tremendous help to me on this journey!

This book has great information on why we need to use the ingredients listed in the recipes. Easy dishes to make as well. I highly recommend this book.

These are good recipes except if you can't have sour cream, cream cheese or artificial sweeteners, then it will take some serious wrangling to make many of the recipes work. At least they are a good starting point for ideas.
